Halloween 2022: Day 22

Song: “The Lantern” Quote: In dark misty hills of Carolina,
Way back where the mountain laurel grows,
On cool October nights, with a lantern shining bright,
There’s something out there walking through the darkness all alone,
Creeping through the darkness all alone.

Halloween 2022: Day 21

Song: “Young Charlotte” Quote: They reached the door, and Charles sprang out and held his hand to her.
“Why sit you like a monument, have you no power to stir?”
He called her once, he called her twice; she answered not a word.
He asked her for her hand again, and yet she never stirred. There are many variations of this song. Read more here. Listen to the performance of Grandpa Jones…

Krampusnacht 2022

Updated 11/12/22   I leave for a ten-day trip to Paris and London in one week's time and I'd love to bring back a goody or two if my Naughty/Nice Puss has any requests! All of the festive goodies, anything specific to the holiday season in France and the UK.
are you interested in an advent calendar?  What kind?  (Dog cookie, tea, chocolate, etc.) Absolutely! Fun chocolate, marshmallows, tea, jams, lip balms are all good.    Officially asking for your krampus preference, naughty children!  Vintage/classic krampus and cat-rampus.   I hand-make light-weight hair falls, the kind that is NOT meant to look real, but more like doll (or Dolly) hair. I use stuff like recycled silk, ribbon yarn and the like to keep them extremely light-weight and pretty. Is this something you would like? If so, tell me your color preferences (the more options, the better!) plus any allergies I should know about (wool, alpaca, silk etc), and length. I would probably not get any use out of these, sadly.    Would you like a super ugly "Christmas" sweater with krampus all over it??   Yes. Yes I would.    Is there anything you particularly have your fingers crossed for on your wishlist? Not really.    are you hoping for more perfumes or more non-smelly goodies Definitely not hoping for mainly perfume - I only wear BPAL, but some is good if you have wishlist goodies.    dear Victim, are you in need of a squishable krampus? (or other squishable?) SUCH NEED! I also really really love the moths, especially the rosy maple moth (which I coveted even before OFMD). We have a corgi and an axolotl and the plague doctor and nurse and Baphomet already, just for context.    Anything from Penzy's to show you praise or to punish your wicked tongue? I love their vanilla and the Vietnamese cinnamon and the new curry spice blend.    Do you like homemade fudge if it is Krampus'ed up? Absolutely!   would you like a piece of Krampus themed art? Either watercolor, resin, polymer clay, or wire wrap? Something small would be fun.    I'm probably going to place an order for October 33rd once I get paid next week. Are there any BPALs (recently released or otherwise) that you would love to get on St. Nicholas Day?  I need to update my wishlist. I've been so farking busy that I haven't even given the Weenies a good look.   Is there anything you'd be interested in from Loreworks?  Please note, the body wash is marketed as body wash/bubble bath, but it DOES contain SLS for those who avoid it.) Magic Michael, Edgar Allen Ho, Screamcicle, Pear gingerbread cobbler and Mourning all sound good in either body wash or shea cream.    dear victim, are you interested in a microwaveable bowl cozy? I'm not actually sure what that is?    Dearest Victim, might you bed a fan of the glorious old punk band, the Damned? I'm seeing them perform on Friday, so there might be things like tour t-shirts or stickers available- would any of this be of interest to you? (if not, no worries, I can worship them enough for the both of us!  ) I do like the Damned and my spouse really likes them. I doubt I'd get much use out of a shirt, but a sticker for my guitar case would be cool.    Dear *ahem* Victim *snicker* ... Would you enjoy a 2023 wall calendar? I would, but it needs to be family appropriate, since the only place I use one is in the kitchen where my 12 year old and their friends can see it.    Victim, is there anything you would like from the Zeep holiday collection releasing on November 1st?  (see this post) Sugar whip or meringue in just about any of the scents other than the moscato one, since wine notes tend to be very iffy on me. Grinch Cookies and Snow Angels sound particularly appealing.   Are you interested in boozy homemade fruitcake? I am interested in all of your possible varieties of homemade fruitcake.   How about booze itself, specifically, moonshine whiskey infused with spices and fruits? I am interested in all of your possible booze varieties (short of, like dill or asparagus flavor), but all of your whiskies, liquors, etc may come live with me.    Brown sugar shortbread? "Plain" buttery or flavored? Favorites include lavender and chocolate orange, but I could definitely do a holiday spice or peppermint batch or two. I would love something krampusy themed - chocolate cinnamon maybe?    I want to make altered altoid tins for Christmas.  Would you like one?  I would love one!   What kind of homemade cookies do you like? All of them? I am particularly fond of gingerbread and spice cookies, jammy cookies and iced sugar cookies. Honestly, the only thing I'm not partial to is nuts in cookies (I do like pecan pie cups and fruitcake).    Are you interested in having any freshly dried apple crips?   (Golden Delicious and Fuji -- sliced, dried apples with nothing added.) Sure!   Is there anything you're eyeing from Paintbox Soapworks' winter update? Joulupukki, Orange and Yellow, Poinsetta, Schwarzwald, and The Golden Orb all sound interesting should a sample sorbetto or soap fall its way into your cart.    Would anyone like something nice from Upavim, a women’s craft collective in Guatemala? The ellipse and sweet and simple bracelets seem neat.   Krampusnacht soap is back at Cellar Door!  Sadly I didn't see any candles in this scent but plenty of other holiday candles.  They ship really quickly if anyone is in need for their victim. The actual Krampus Nacht doesn't sound like it's up my alley, but Bad Santa, Christmas Morning, Holiday Nights, Snowy Morning, Sun of a Nutcracker all sound good - the soap ends would be fun.   If you guys want cookies and have favorite cookie recipes, I'd love to see them!  Either behind a cut or a link??  Something that works with cookie cutters would be fab. Honestly, I would rather experience YOUR favorite recipes, but I will share some of mine in the main thread.    Haus of Gloi just dropped their Yule update- like what you see? https://www.hausofgloi.com/collections/yule?page=1 Mama's Porridge and Winter Divinity in soap, bubbling scrub, and/or body butter.   I make infused vodkas! The one I am most proud of right now is a spiced hibiscus liqueur. I make this as a jelly, too. As far as the Liqueur, We have been making an autumn Moscow Mule with it, and the other day I made a Mai Tai! Its yummy!  Definitely interested!   If I can find the recipe, I want to make my grandmas Orange Slice Cake. Its a super yummy cake but a bit difficult to make as far as cutting up all the oranges. If you would like a mini cake IF I make it, lemme know! The ingredients are as follows:
dates
orange slices candy
coconut
buttermilk
pecans
orange juice That sounds AMAZING.    Victim, darling, are you a fan of the Dresden Dolls? I'm seeing them this Saturday and there will no doubt be some good merch including t-shirts, posters, stickers and even artisanal chocolate bars! 😮  Any of that sound appealing? (if t-shirt, pls give size!)
I'm not really a fan.
I uncovered a secret supply of vintage LE BPAL Trading Post soaps in my possession! I realize some folks are over bar soap, but in case you'll make an exception, lmk and maybe Krampus will deem you nice enough to get one   That would be delightful.

Halloween 2022: Day 20

I can hear my darlin’ softly callin’,
But she’s asleep in the cold cold ground. Read the complete lyrics. Listen to the performance of The Grascals…

Krampusnacht: Answers to In-Thread Questions!

I leave for a ten-day trip to Paris and London in one week's time and I'd love to bring back a goody or two if my Naughty/Nice Puss has any requests! London: Jam from Tea and Tattle (tea room across from The British Museum), some sort of Mr. Kiplings slices (like angel slices or lemon slices or if there's some other flavor)
Paris: Mariage Frères tea, maybe some pâte de fruits since they would keep well?
Are you interested in an advent calendar?  What kind?  (Dog cookie, tea, chocolate, etc.) Tea, chocolate, or jam! (Although I just received several jars of jam in swaps, so maybe not the jam.  )   Officially asking for your krampus preference, naughty children!  Vintage Krampus or cat Krampus! Just not partially human-looking Krampus. Please nothing that just says "Vom Krampus" on it, though. If you take out the Gruß, it is no longer grammatically correct because the 'vom' is in the dative case and it needs the verb for that to happen. (I am only mentioning this because I did see things like that while looking for Krampus items last year, and I know German.)   I hand-make light-weight hair falls, the kind that is NOT meant to look real, but more like doll (or Dolly) hair. I use stuff like recycled silk, ribbon yarn and the like to keep them extremely light-weight and pretty. Is this something you would like? If so, tell me your color preferences (the more options, the better!) plus any allergies I should know about (wool, alpaca, silk etc), and length. I would enjoy that! Since it's for Krampusnacht, maybe red, black, and grey? Or red, green, and black? Or variations of red with black?  Normally, purple, black, and grey are my favorite colors. I currently have hair that's long enough to reach a few inches past my bra strap. I plan on letting it grow back to waist-length again, and I might dye it red sometime soon (but have been lazy). I don't think I have any allergies.   Would you like a super ugly "Christmas" sweater with krampus all over it?? Maybe not a sweater, but something like a stocking would be nice!   Is there anything you particularly have your fingers crossed for on your wishlist? and are you hoping for more perfumes or more non-smelly goodies? I am down for both smellies and non-smellies, BUT I do have tons of perfume, wax, and bath/body products. I'm not averse to having more, but there's only one perfume I'm actively looking for at the moment (Gothabilly lolololol -- and I'd swap handsomely for it). For non-smellies, I'd particularly appreciate something baking, cooking, or food-related for the December holidays.     dear Victim, are you in need of a squishable krampus? No, thank you! I just have too many plushies. 😭   I need to do a spice order. Anything from Penzy's to show you praise or to punish your wicked tongue? Maybe the sweet or hot curry? On the pricier side, vanilla extract.   Do you like homemade fudge if it is Krampus'ed up?  I love homemade fudge! But I might be fudged out by the time I get through all of the fudge that twilighteyes sent me!   Would you like a piece of Krampus themed art? Either watercolor, resin, polymer clay, or wire wrap?  Krampus art would be neat! I have no preference on the medium.   I'm probably going to place an order for October 33rd once I get paid next week. Are there any BPALs (recently released or otherwise) that you would love to get on St. Nicholas Day? I asked this question. October 33rd is the only one I'm currently lusting after and I'm going to buy it.     Is there anything you'd be interested in from Loreworks? (Please note, the body wash is marketed as body wash/bubble bath, but it DOES contain SLS for those who avoid it.) I also asked this question and will be placing an order soon, so it's probably best to skip getting me anything from her, even though I love her stuff.   dear victim, are you interested in a microwaveable bowl cozy? This sounds better than just picking up hot bowls with paper towels. 😅   Dearest Victim, might you bed a fan of the glorious old punk band, the Damned? I'm seeing them perform on Friday, so there might be things like tour t-shirts or stickers available- would any of this be of interest to you? (if not, no worries, I can worship them enough for the both of us! ) I like a few of their songs (I first heard them when watching The Young Ones), but I am not familiar enough with their work to consider myself a fan! 😅   Dear *ahem* Victim *snicker* ... Would you enjoy a 2023 wall calendar? Sure... I'd put it in my cube at work! (Please note that I do work for the government, so... nothing super vulgar or anything like that.  )
Victim, is there anything you would like from the Zeep holiday collection releasing on November 1st?  (see this post) I asked this question and will be ordering myself.     Are you interested in boozy homemade fruitcake? I would be down to try homemade fruitcake. The storebought one my aunt got last year was awful, though, and it's the only one I've tried.   How about booze itself, specifically, moonshine whiskey infused with spices and fruits? I'd be down to try a small bottle! I've never tried moonshine.   Brown sugar shortbread? "Plain" buttery or flavored? Favorites include lavender and chocolate orange, but I could definitely do a holiday spice or peppermint batch or two. Yes! All sound great, but especially the lavender.  I'm always down for lavender  -- whether it's scent or food!   That aside, dear victim… I want to make altered altoid tins for Christmas. Here are some examples of past Christmas ones. Would you like one?  Yes, but I still want a Poe one. 😭 (You can put a Santa hat on him.  ) Atomic Christmas with cat is super cute! But I love them all.   Are you interested in having any freshly dried apple crips?   (Golden Delicious and Fuji -- sliced, dried apples with nothing added.) Will shill out $$ or barter perfume for apple crisps! 👀    Would anyone like something nice from Upavim, a women’s craft collective in Guatemala? https://upavimcrafts.org/ A wooden spoon or laden would be appreciated! The mouse skillet holder is too cute. I'd also be down for a whimsical felt bird ornament or a pumpkin one for my Halloween tree next year!   Is there anything you're eyeing from Paintbox Soapworks' winter update? Joulupukki wax melts, Orange and Yellow wax melts or mini sorbetto, and Schwarzwald sorbetto. Please no Sugar on Snow... I just can't handle maple-scented products right now.   Haus of Gloi just dropped their Yule update- like what you see? https://www.hausofgloi.com/collections/yule?page=1 I'd be down for some Long Winter's Nap whipped soap or bubbling scrub!   If I can find the recipe, I want to make my grandmas Orange Slice Cake. Its a super yummy cake but a bit difficult to make as far as cutting up all the oranges. If you would like a mini cake IF I make it, lemme know!  Cake me up!!!   I do molasses gingerbread cookies, as well as hot cocoa cookies, florentines and butterballs. Any of those sound good? OR homemade chocolate fudge? I can do peppermint, coffee or orange additions, with or without nuts. Send me all of the foodz! Molasses gingerbread cookies sound particularly delicious.   Victim, darling, are you a fan of the Dresden Dolls? I'm seeing them this Saturday and there will no doubt be some good merch including t-shirts, posters, stickers and even artisanal chocolate bars! 😮  Any of that sound appealing? (if t-shirt, pls give size!) Oh my goodness, you lucky bug! I was debating trying to get tickets for their LA show on New Years, until Amanda announced that it was not actually in LA 😭. I would love a t-shirt, sticker, or chocolate bar (why aren't more bands doing artisanal chocolate bars as merch!?!?!). My Taurean self would be especially hyped for the chocolate, but I'd also be down for a large unisex shirt (normally, I get mediums, but they can vary between manufacturers and a large would have enough boob space/last forever).    I uncovered a secret supply of vintage LE BPAL Trading Post soaps in my possession! I realize some folks are over bar soap, but in case you'll make an exception, lmk and maybe Krampus will deem you nice enough to get one   I love bar soaps, and you have a secret supply!?  In the past, I've had these BPTP soaps: Snow White, Misk U, Snake Oil, Shub, Mouse's Long and Sad Tale, Anne Bonny, Dirty, and a smaller test bar of an unreleased soap. Man, I miss BPTP products.

Halloween 2022: Day 19

Song: “Matty Groves” Quote: So Matty struck the very first blow, and he hurt Lord Orland sore.
Lord Orland struck the very next blow, and Matty struck no more.
And then Lord Orland took his wife, and he sat her on his knee,
Saying, “Who do you like the best of us, Matty Groves or me?”
And then up spoke his own dear wife, never heard to speak so free,
“I’d rather a kiss from dead Matty’s lips than you or your finery.” Lord Orland he jumped up and loudly he did bawl,
He struck his wife right through the heart and pinned her against the wall.
“A grave, a grave, ” Lord Orland cried, “to put these lovers in,
But bury my lady at the top for she was of noble kin.” Read the complete lyrics. Listen to the performance of Alela Diane and Alina Hardin…

(like say you have 5,000 bars of soap, coffee cups, or socks…) No makeup or nail polish for sure, I’d feel so bad if I didn’t use it.   Please place your wishlists and moodboards here (or link them in your signature) to give your swapper great ideas of what you like): Links are in my signature! My instagram (also in my sig) is all of my fiber arts which gives a good sense of what I like   Is there anything else you would like to say to your swapper? Wolfenoot 2022 Swap Answers

Lilliths and Weenies - let's see...I'm interested in Oct. 32nd, Apple Macchiato, The Wind Strike Chill and Cold, Torta Setteveli, Bobbing for Zombies, Dead Leaves and Horchata, Lightning Strikes Cinema, and The Necromancer.   Are you interested in having a bag from our shop? Yes!    Would you be interested in a hand embroidered scarf? I would love one! I do wear a ton of scarves and handmade touches are always nice.    If you're up for knits or crochet, would you prefer washcloths, headbands, wrist cuffs, fingerless mitts, hats, or a shawlette (wear like scarf except not as long so can't wrap around your neck more than 1-2x.)  I could probably find a bunch of the above with moon motifs or for dogs/sneks/birbs/cats to wear. Washcloths, wrist cuffs, fingerless mitts, or shawlette would be my preference, though I unfortunately can't wear wool - itchy! I don't think my pets would put up with ANY of these things being put on their bodies lol.   Are you interested in an advent calendar?  What kind? Hmmmm. Chocolate is always good. I don't really know what all the options are. (Then this librarian went to do some research and found soooo many cool ones. But most are super $$, unfortunately)   wolfeloot, are you interested in a good karma squishable snow wolf? Yep, super cute!!   If I were to send a toy from one of my favorite critter toy sources, would you have any preferences? (squeaky/not, plush, chewy, etc.) There are currently 4 dogs and 2 cats here, ranging in age from 4 mos to geriatric. So any of the above would work. Squeakies are well loved here, but Tevin (our big guy who plays big brother to all the littles) loves to have a "baby" to carry around. This is usually just a stuffie that he hoards and hides from the other dogs.   Little Wolfies - Arcana has dropped Hallowitch stuff and a 15% off deal. Shout out if you see anything you'd love! I'd be up for Evil Eye, Coven, Sleepy Hollow, Mountain Witch all look interesting   What are your favorite shops to buy fun things (treats, toys, clothes, whatever) for your fuzzy friends? We spend A LOT of money with Chewy. We also have a local farmer's co-op that sells pet items, so we like to support them too.   Favorite tea brands and flavors?  I spend a lot of time drinking coffee, so sometimes my tea stash doesn't get enough love. When I do drink tea, I really just like to try different kinds. Harney and Sons hot cinnamon is a perennial fave, but I've got a pretty good amount of that.   Would you want a watercolor of your pet? NO promises that it will be amazing- just wanted to ask in case you prefer a different pic for watercolor vs pain Of course! I'll need to try to upload some pics of these crazy fur children   Dear wolfeloot, are you interested in a microwaveable bowl cozy? Actually, this is a thing that I always wish I had and can't believe I haven't bought myself yet!    Dear 'loot -- would you like a 2023 wall calendar (or other type?)   What kind? Sure, or maybe one of those desk calendars with a page per day? Something funny - or cute? I don't know. I'm not picky.   Are you interested in having any freshly dried apple crips?   (Golden Delicious and Fuji -- sliced, dried apples with nothing added.) Sure! I eat tons of the dried apples from Trader Joe's, so I would love it.   how culinarily adventurous would you say you are???? I'd say I'm up for most anything. I enjoy trying new things.    And I thought I answered this one, but that was apparently the This Is Halloween swap answers: I'd love to have one of the bags from the Etsy shop. I always have projects and small items to tote around. I like any of the cat fabrics and also the Princess Bride. (I've had my eye on these for a few swaps now!)   And here are my answers to the original questionnaire. There were some links in there that I don't think carried over to email:

Halloween update - breakdown!

I've already made a purchase but this is to help me decide which others I need, or if I want to try for decants, etc.. I'm going back to my good ol' rating system where I put my interest level on a 1-5 scale.    Abelard Coconut husk and pearwood with frankincense and carnation petals.  This might be nice, I'd certainly try it if it were put in front of me.  Kind of sounds like a Luper.  3/5   Apple Macchiato This is a homage to the upstart little sister of Caffeinated Autumn Beverages: apple spice, cinnamon, brown sugar, oatmilk, and caramel apple drizzle over espresso.  Not much looking for gourmand scents this time around, but still might try this somewhere down the road.  3/5    Autumn 1990 This is the scent of a disaffected deathrock kid skulking around Hollywood with her ne’er-do-well friends: pre-climate catastrophe autumn winds billowing through a cloud of decaying leaves, exhaust fumes, maximum-hold hairspray, and clove cigarettes, but minus the Boones Farm.  At first I wasn't interested but now I'm thinking this could be kind of an evolved cousin of Devil's Night, and I'm a little more interested.  I love atmospheric scents.  This went from a 3 to 4/5   Every Day is Halloween Skin-warmed sandalwood and toasted pumpkin settle into a gentle blend suitable for all 365 days of Halloween.  I have a previous bottle, like it but definitely don't need more.  1/5    Fleece Skeleton Onesie The scent of freshly-washed fleece skeleton onesie and a little bit of smeared eyeliner.  I just got skeleton onesies for myself and my partner, so I was cracking up when I saw this!  I do like "clean laundry" type scents, enough to have multiple of them, and this sounds like a spooky variation of that.  I will say 4/5   Heloise Polished limewood, myrrh smoke, and blackened spices.  Could be good, but not making a huge impression on me.. something like a darker Mr. Nancy?  I'd try a decant, maybe.. 3/5      L.A. River Pumpkin An offering of sun-warmed pumpkin flesh anointed with slithering green musks, sun-dried grasses, pineapple juice, and squished prickly pear fruit.  Not sure about this one.  I haven't tried any of the Lab's pineapple scents, I'm kind of scared of it.  I'd try it, but not seeking it out.  (And I could be totally wrong, it's been known to happen, lol!) 2/5   October 32nd The scent of Eternal October: leaves fluttering against a thick wool sweater, the cool amber glow of an autumn sunset, dollops of thick cream swirling in black tea.  I do love tea scents, never tried this one but all the notes sound okay, so why isn't it grabbing my attention (and didn't last year)?  3/5    Oil and Blood There are no saints here: thick blackened rivulets of blood soak through linen winding sheets and cold clay.  This could be good, but it could go a little too "perfumey" on me?  I'd certainly like to try it.  4/5    Pomegranate Tiramisu Lady Fingers soaked in pomegranate syrup and tipped with fingernails of sliced almond, entombed in layers of mascarpone and crème fraîche and then topped with a sprinkle of fresh pomegranate seeds.  Not calling out to me, but I would try it on if it crossed my path.  2/5    Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffin Pumpkiny, chocolatey, muffiny.  Doesn't sound like my kind of thing. 1/5    Pumpkin Spice Latte Getting back to basics.  I already have Pinched w/Four Pumpkins, don't think I need this.  2/5    Samhain Truly the scent of autumn itself — damp woods, fir needle, and black patchouli with the gentlest touches of warm pumpkin, clove, nutmeg, allspice, sweet red apple and mullein.  I love Samhain but I already have lots of it, various decants and a few bottles.  Don't need more right now but I would try it in the interest of comparing to other years.  2/5   Sugar Skull Vibrant with the joy and sweetness of life in death! A blend of five sugars, lightly dusted with candied fruits.  I love the older Sugar Skull, but last year's (or was it the year before?) was a very different variation that I didn't like as much.  I do have a couple older bottles now and a few different decants, so I don't really need more, but I'd be really interested to know if it's the newer variant again, or if it's back to the older formula (but I think even the older formula went through some slight variation from year to year..but this is another topic).  2/5    The Shadowed Veil A strangely sensual, darkly fae All Hallow’s Eve cologne, a perfume of the Otherworld: black pumpkin, leather, pomegranate incense, agarwood, and bourbon patchouli.  I have an older decant, like it, don't need more.  But again I do like comparing different years of the same scent.  2/5    The Unreturning When far-gone dead return upon the world: wisps of spectral white musk and ambergris, blackened leather, yew needles, cypress boughs, gnarled patchouli root, and the memory of frankincense smoke.  White musk can be borderline soapy or too perfumey, and ambergris can take over everything on my skin.  Not willing to risk this one but I'd try it.  2/5    The Wind Strike Chill and Cold The frost of undeath: an icy and lustrous white mint with ti leaf, white amber, and bruised lilac.  I already have Icy Fingers from previous Halloween (is that what it was called?), and this isn't really calling out to me.  I'm not a huge lilac fan.  1-2/5    Torta Setteveli A classic Sicilian recipe alternating layers of chocolate sponge cake, hazelnut Bavarian cream, chocolate mousse, and hazelnut praline crunch, all enrobed in a dark chocolate mirror glaze.  I don't really like chocolate or nut notes in perfume, usually.  1/5   X-Rayed Candy Bag The sugary contents of last night’s Trick-or-Treat bucket blasted with atomic particles at your local hospital, producing a stark image of ghostly treats cast in a greeny-white radioactive glow.  This isn't really calling out to me.  I'd try it, though.  2/5    Halloween 2022 - Bobbing for Apples 2022 Not really into apple scents for the most part, although I still try them out from time to time.  So....   Bobbing for Ball Gags Black leather, honeyed amber, and a bite of apple.  2/5   Bobbing for Blood Kisses Gleaming red apples sloshing through lush, creamy vanilla and the honey of the sweetest kiss smeared with the vital throb of husky clove, swollen red cherries, but darkened with the vampiric sensuality of vetiver, soporific poppy and blood red wine, and a skin-light pulse of feral musk. 2/5    Bobbing for Daddy The following contest is scheduled for one fall. Get it? Fall! Our ongoing collaboration with the pro-wrestler EFFY has taken a decidedly seasonal turn, conjuring fantasies of apple picking, polishing, nibbling, and even a bit of juicing if the mood is right. Blended together with DADDY’s signature notes of diabolical incense, bay rum and a hiss of infernal fougere, this is one hayride you won’t want to miss. 1/5    Bobbing for Dodos Pink lady apples with pink and red musks, lemon peel, sugar cane, cassia, white sandalwood, mango, and agarwood.  2/5    Bobbing for Jack O’Lanterns Spiced baked apples with nutmeg and cinnamon mushed into pumpkin pulp, glowing peach, and murky clove. 2/5    Bobbing for Oblivion Arkansas black apples with inky musk, wood spice, labdanum, patchouli, dark African woods, and saffron.  Maybe?  Sounds interesting.  3/5    Bobbing for Smut Three booze soaked apples soaked in smutty musks and sugar.  Might be interesting.. 3/5    Bobbing for Snake Oil Our best-selling fragrance gets dunked: apples crushed into vintage patchouli, dark, rich, aged vanilla absolute, vegetal musk, and spices.  I'll try just about any Snake Oil variant.  3/5    Bobbing for Zombies Dried rose petals and leathery dried apples soiled with Spanish moss, oakmoss and deep brown earth.  2/5    Halloween 2022 - Dead Leaves 2022  I have roughly 1 million dead leaves scents already so it will have to be something really interesting to catch my eye...   Dead Leaves And Horchata  DL+ sweet and/or spicy is usually good but sometimes can go wrong on me.  Pass for now.  2/5    Dead Leaves, and Ginger Spice  And here it is, the one I bought!  I'm really hopeful for this one to be great.  4/5   Dead Leaves, Boot Leather, and Sweet Grass  Not really my thing right now.. 2/5    Dead Leaves, Praline, and Sheer Vanilla  See DL& Horchata.. 2/5    Dead Leaves, Scorched Pumpkin, and Marshmallows  This was close but DL& Ginger Spice won out.  This has marshmallow so I fully expect it to sell out.  I'll watch for reviews!  3/5    Dead Leaves, Vanilla Bean, Pink Fig, and Brandied Dates  Dates + vanilla bean does catch my eye but fig is historically a note I don't care about either way.  Brandied dates makes it sound even better, though.. will have to see what happens.. 3-4/5    Halloween 2022 - Ginormous Yard Skeleton   Angst Charred sandalwood and cardamom soured by bitter caraway seed.  I tend to avoid caraway (in perfumes).  1/5    Anticipation Red sandalwood and white pumpkin prickling with black pepper, orange blossom, and bergamot.  Nothing here sounds bad, but it's not really grabbing me.  2/5    Despondency A sorrowful Halloween blend of pumpkin puree, lavender bud, night-blooming violets, purple sandalwood, and tears.  Hmm, this does sound interesting.  Violet is one of those notes I don't love but do crave occasionally.  It kind of amps on my skin but I bet pumpkin and lavender would be good balancing notes.  This is a possibility.  4?/5    Victory A joyous fusion of pumpkin cheesecake and champagne.  I have Pumpkin Cheesecake, I love it but probably don't need this.. we'll see.  3/5    Halloween 2022 - Lightning Strikes   Lightning Strikes Cinema The scent of sitting in a darkened theater in a rainstorm circa 1935, marveling at the alchemy that transforms scribbled words into specters of light, shadow, and sound: dripping umbrellas, a nicotine haze clinging to musty velvet curtains, camphorous vapors rising from strips of hot celluloid.  It's a kind of scent I usually am drawn to, but there's a lot of competition in this update.  Undecided.  3/5    Lightning Strikes Literature The incendiary moment when a human hand snatches fire from the gods of creativity and channels it onto the page: a lightning storm stirred with beeswax candle smoke, yellowing notebooks, and pools of India ink.  I'm not crazy about beeswax- related scents.  2/5    Lightning Strikes the Future The ultimate lab experiment: streaks of feral red musk twining in a double-helix around a pulsing, electrified core of fossilized amber, erupting from a glimmering pool of reactor coolant.  Not sure.. these notes aren't calling out to me for some reason.  2/5    Halloween 2022 - Persephone’s Bounty I'm just not a big pomegranate fan (in perfumes).  I did just get Pomegranate Morocco, and that's about all I need right now.    Pomegranate Oud 2/5  Pomegranate Turkish Delight 2/5  Pomegranate, Brown Sugar, and Tobacco 2/5  Pomegranate, Freesia, White Tea, and White Amber 2/5  Pomegranate, Patchouli, Moss, and Fir Needle 2/5  Pomegranate, Pink Pepper, and Black Apple 2/5    Halloween 2022 - Witches, Sorceresses, and Sorceries in Art History   A Breton Sorceress Tonka bean, yellow bergamot, ambrette seed, patchouli root, oak bark and leaf, bitter almond, smoked cedar, allspice, and vanilla absolute.  Sounds very cozy and warm.  I ordered a bottle.  4/5    A Sorceress Black silk, golden thread, skin musk, white sandalwood, vanilla dust, red lotus absolute, tonka absolute, serpent scale accord, and black amber.  A few of these notes are kind of just not really my thing, like silk, skin musk, black amber (sometimes works).  I see the word "red" and worry about that too.  This could go either way, but I'm not risking it right now.  2/5    An Enchanted Cellar with Animals A cacophony of feathers and fur, cracked clay and moist stone, scattered rushes, upturned herbs, red sage, and frankincense smoke.  Sounds good but I don't know what red sage smells like.  Again sometimes "red" notes clash with my skin & nose.  Pass for now.  3/5    Dulle Griet Black oud, bay leaf, olibanum, rose smoke, cassis, green cardamom, clove bud, and black sandalwood.  I would try this if it crossed my path.  2 "black" notes kind of put me off, but it has potential.  3/5    Gooped Familiar Sweet black musk, golden amber, cedarwood, catnip, and hay absolute with a shock of carnation, clove, and cinnamon bark.  Probably smells good but isn't rising above the competition in this update.  I'll keep my eye on it.  3/5    Heksenbijeenkomst Black oud and wild plum, tobacco leaf, black amber, opium smoke, and myrrh tar.  I have a decant of Dead Leaves, oud, plum etc and I like it fine, but this doesn't call out to me.  Will watch.  3/5    La Danse de la Sorciere Auburn amber, polished wood, dribbles of golden honey, a cascade of budding herbs, red sandalwood, and sugared white amber.  Something about this combination doesn't sound like 'me'.  2/5    Lightning Struck a Flock of Witches A crack of ozone slicing through blue benzoin, indigo musk, tobacco, and opoponax.  Same as above.. 1/5    Nocturnal Witches Scene Hungarian pine needles, oak wood, black mosses, smoldering pitch, and bonfire smoke.  This sounds very interesting to me, it's kind of a risk but I went for a bottle.  4/5    Peasants Fleeing (Witchcraft) Yellow balsam, well-worn leather, dark musk, and mud-spattered wool.  This is a combination that does call out to me, for whatever reason, I went for a bottle.  Might be too strong, hope not.  4/5    Scene with Witches Smoked ambergris accord, gray silk, incense-stained cotton, and crushed herbs.  I don't usually like ambergris, it's one of the few notes I usually avoid.  Add in "gray silk" and I'm out.  The other 2 notes do sound good.  2/5    The Dance of the Farfadets Gray sandalwood, packed earth, hinoki, patchouli root, myrrh resin, and balsam.  There's that "gray" again, but this time... Look at that artwork!  I had to get a bottle.  I like a lot of earthy scents, so maybe it will work.  4/5    The Love Potion Golden neroli, blackcurrant, candied pomegranate, gilded rosewood, smoldering incense resin, and rose musk.  Not sure.  This has a lot of potential, but I passed for now.  It could turn soapy on me, or too perfumey.  Will keep it in mind.. 3/5    The Necromancer Dusty tomes, russet cashmere, green velvet, and leather, frankincense and cinnamon bark, galangal root and fig, rosewater and lilac cologne.  This sounds good, and I had it in my cart.  When I see a long list of notes, I know from experience it has potential to go wrong somewhere.  Will keep it in mind.  3/5    Three People Plucking a Mandrake A tangle of mandrake root and patchouli root bound by champaca resin.  Champaca resin is one of my favorite notes, and I love patchouli.  Bottled.  5/5    Tovenares Pale woods and dried rose petals, white sandalwood, bone dust, sweet amber, and incense smoke.  "Pale", "dried", "white" and "dust" all sounds very dry and/or perfumey to me.  Pass for now, although I do like woods, some rose, some amber, and some incense smoke.  3/5    Witchecraft: Consulting a Book of Spells, Performing Various Rites Candlewax, clove leaf, yellowed parchment, a cluster of mosses, incense resin, black pepper, cardamom, black amber, and ylang ylang.  Combination not calling to me.. 2/5    Witches at Their Incantations Red olibanum, scorched opoponax, 13-year aged myrrh oil, and champaca absolute.  Red olibanum is very worrisome to me, and myrrh might push this over the edge into "too perfumey", but it definitely has potential.  3/5    Witches Taking off for the Sabbath Broomcorn and tallow, waxed pine wood, pumpkin seeds, orris root, oakmoss, dried fig, frankincense, ambrette seed, dragon’s blood ink, and a drop of cacao.  Kind of neutral on this - but not really calling me.  2/5    Witches’ Kitchen Bourbon tobacco absolute, nagarmotha, vetiver, tomato leaf, gunpowder, yarrow stalks, brimstone, vervain, seared leather, and castoreum accord.  Right now this doesn't sound like my thing, but that could change.. pass for now.. 3/5    Young Witches at Play in the Night Sky Cloudstruck white musk, orris root, white bergamot, magnolia petals, fir needle, and juniper mist.  Again, sounds perfumey, but I'm interested because of the magnolia petals.  I think that might be like champaca.  Pass for now, will watch.  3/5
