Innocence defiled. Sticky pink bubblegum and the thick, sweet scent of orange and cherry lollipops smeared over a breath of heady womanly perfume.

I want to agree with Andrabell who says it smells like cherry cough syrup (which it does a little) and everyone who says it smells like bubblegum. I also think there is a hint of strawberry twizzlers in there too.

I love this scent--I love food smells--but to me it smells like a more juvenile version of Bordello. So if you like Bordello you will like this one, because they are very similar.

I tend to like sweet scents, so I expected to like Jailbait. And, in the vial and on Pekeana-it's just delish. On me ... it got a little weird. To begin with, it's super sweet-and that was okay! But it heightened so that it was so sweet and SO bubblegummy that it was like it was screaming for attention. But, then something dark sidled up underneath it so that it started to smell like bubblegum flattened on much traveled concrete. It was definately my skin, but something just weird crept out and sullied the whole affair for me. I don't know if I was PMSy that day or if I was just off, but that dirty rock smell just twisted it all around. However, everyone else I know loves Jailbait and it smells great on them. I must, then, conclude that it's all me and my body chemistry. Hmm.

If I could BAITH in a scent, I believe it would be Jailbait...

 

I have always loved bubblegum and cotton candy. This is THE ultimate bubblegum scent. Placeing it on, it definatly screams bubblegum; mental images are a gigantic pink bubble being blown and the very fresh piece of bubble gum in your mouth, just after you have put it in and chewed it enough to be soft yet still powerfully flavorful.

 

As it lasts on my skin it holds bubblegum as the main scent, there's soemthing else underneath too- something giving strength. I'm getting such the bad school girl image from it. Short skirt sneaking out behind the bowling alley to get laid type thing.... (Think scene from Stephen King writing as Richard Bachman in the story Rage when the girl whose name I have forgotton retells her sexual experiences to the other hostages)

 

Jailbait simmers down after a while to a pleasnt sweet cotton candy scent with some sort of little spice snap behind it (very subtile).

 

I wore it to visits at the prison today when I saw my mate. He liked it, but didn't see quite as much humor in me wearing it to visits as I did... He tends to like sweet scents as well.

 

So:

Beth- Can the lab make Jailbait flavored soda? I'd buy it by the CASE! (I do know about blue bubblegum by Jones soda... but I want PINK bubble gum just as this smells in soda form!!!!!)

 

I MUST purchase a 5ml, heck, with the way I'd love to baith in this I would NOT be adverse to a 10ml.

This starts out super, super bubblegum-y. It's the definition of PINK in a smell. There's no other way to describe it! However, it fades into something with a bit of a naughty undertone..not sure what. Whoever said this almost smells porn-like hit the nail on the head. That's *the* perfect association I get with this- a porn star. While not the sort of thing I'd like to wear during the day, it could be fun to whip out for certain occasions

Wet: Still really sweet and candy like. I am not sure what it is that is the musk undertown.

 

Dry (5 hours): Jailbait didn't last 5 minutes on me. My skin sucked it up in no time. I may have to try it again on another day.

When first applied, it smells just like red Twizzlers . Cherry licorice. Then it dips into a seductive blend of spices. Maybe a little cinnamon?

 

Wow, autumny. I'm getting a different vibe from other that have tried this. No bubblegum at all...just ripe cherry licorice, fall spices, and musk.

 

It smells Halloweeny on me! Spices and candy. Great. I don't think I would get a bottle of this, but the imp will serve me well.

I got this as a freebie in a swap on MUA some time ago.

 

Preconceived notions:

 

I've been putting off reviewing Jailbait because, frankly, it makes me sick to smell it. I can't tolerate bubblegum scents for some reason, but it's been nagging me from my swap pile to review it, so review it I shall. ::Puts on a brave front::

 

First sniff:

 

Bubblegum...nothing but bubblegum. It smells like a cross between Bazooka Joe, Bubblicious and that kind that comes in sticks and is sugar free...pink packaging, kind of sergeant stripes at the top, they make peppermint, too? Anyone know what I'm talking about? Anyway, it smells like bubblegum. Lots and lots of bubblegum, like I've got a hunk of it stuck in my hair that I can't get out.

 

Wet on skin:

 

I applied this as sparingly as possible because it wafts all the way across the room just out of the imp. This is bubblegum gone berzerk! It's so dead-on it's freaky, but, unfortunately, that's a bad thing for me. Bubblegum is not a good scent for me. I associate it with antibiotic liquid from when I was little and dental medium from when I had my braces and they took cast after cast of my mouth. There's also a bit of cherry Twizzler going on in the background, which just makes me even more sick to my stomach. I don't mind Twizzlers, but I don't want to smell like them, especially not in combination with the bubbglegum.

 

Dry down:

 

More Twizzlers than bubblegum now, but definitely tooth-rottingly sweet. It practically screams 10-year-old to me. I don't find any of the "womanly perfume," only the little girl smells of candy and innocence. Unfortunately, I can't tolerate those innocent smells because they bring back bad memories (including ones I haven't mentioned that I'd rather not get into). This isn't as bad as Bon Vivant was for me in terms of memories, but it's still pretty bad. On top of that, I don't like sweet scents. They tend to make me sick, so Jailbait and I are definitely not destined to love one another. It's a fantastic perfume in that Beth is dead-on in capturing childhood innocence ina bottle, but unfortunately it just doesn't work for me.

 

The bottom line:

 

Jailbait is just what it aims to be, but it's definitely not for me. Even a tiny dab of this made me sick, so this is being swapped as soon as possible.

Initial Sniff: Bubblegum and cherry lollipops! Super sweet. This makes my mouth water (I'm on a diet).

Wearing: This is all bubble gum and lollipops for the first hour, but then something a little more grown-up peeks its head out. The final result is very naughty indeed. Innocence defiled and whatnot.

Final Impressions: I really like this! It makes me feel young and carefree...

I was really excited by Jailbait, based on the concept, the name, and the description.

 

It's very bubble-gum and candy like, but it didn't change much on my skin. It stayed really close and I couldn't detect it wafting around me or anything.

 

Unfortunately, my skin really hated it, and I got itchy red blotches from it both times I tried to wear it.

Swiped across wrists and along collarbone.

 

Initial Wet (8-8:30am): Holy Bubblegum! There is something lying under the bubblegum that I can’t quite identify. It is akin to something I will not mention. I do not like it and I hope it goes away.

 

Initial Dry (8:30-10am): Luckily the awful scent that was lying under the bubblegum has disappeared. The bubblegum has also subsided a bit. It has softened to the sweet scent of candy.

 

Throughout the Day (10am-3:30pm): Wow is this dissipating quickly. I’d have thought it’d last longer, I mean, I really slathered this one. I’m always shocked by those few oils that are nearly gone by noon (i.e., 4-hour life span). I catch faint whiffs of sweet … an indiscernible sweet – kinda like candy, kinda like sugar.

 

Slowly dissipating until it is completely gone. *shrugs* Ah well. Not something I ever see myself wearing – a little too sweet, and that initial underlying scent is enough for me to toss this in the Swap Pile.

This was a gift from the lab. I would never have picked this myself, and waited a long time to try it. I am pleasantly surprized. At first, you get knocked out by the bubblegum, but the drydown is definately not that innocent. Can't really describe how that 'not so innocent' smells like, but it's interesting enough for me to keep the imp and use it up. We'll see what happens after that.

In the vial: Total Bubbleyum right here. Big gobs of chewy pink bubble-popping bubblegum. yum!

 

On: It stays the same for a couple minutes, and then the Lollies start to come out. Definitely smells like those Orange Saf-T-Pops, but with a bit of the same biting cherry I remember from Hearth.

 

A couple minutes later: Oooh my! I'm actually getting something that smells like Root Beer Barrels now.. I guess it's from the Orange and Cherry mixing together. I loved those things.. well, I still do, actually! hehe

 

Verdict: I really do love this one! (hence the icon in the sig. hehe) It makes me feel like frolicking around even more than I normally feel like it! It's sweet and delicious... just like me!

Jailbait smells like bubblegum out of the imp.

 

On it smells like a young girl, who has gotten into her mother's perfume.

 

Berry bubblegum, sweet, with a light floral underneath. I like it, it is fresh and youthful.

Have to agree with everyone else. Initial wet, is straight sticky bubblegum from my childhood, seeing who can blow the biggest bubble (with about five big pieces in your mouth). Once this dries down though, it is a much more mature scent that is really hard to pick out the individual notes, but it's really nice. It's playful and flirtly, and yes very girly. I like it alot!

In the vial, this is Extra Sugarfree Chewing Gum, in the Classic Bubblegum flavor.

 

On my skin, it initially holds the bubblegum scent, with a little bit of something darker and more... orange???

 

After about an hour, this has mellowed into a creamy, orange spice. I love it!

I'm getting old-fashioned bubble gum with pepsin and wintergreen. A bit of cherry-orange sweetness behind that, and a sort of boozy intensity -- like she's stolen a swig of schnapps, or splashed on a cologne that hasn't dried yet.

 

Then cinnamon lip gloss, with a pollen & perspiration skin-scent. Far to the back of this blend there's a touch of womanly amber and floral, but only a fool would really believe Miss Jailbait was of age.

well hellllo hubba bubba, original hubba bubba, the kind that if ya put 2 peices in ur mouth it is hard to chew., as it dries it becomes cinnomy hubba bubba, w/ a hint of carnation i think surprisingly i liked about all the stages here, at first i thoght i would have to give it to my dd's but it grew on me

Whoa, bubblegum! The very thick, sweet smell of bubblegum. Orange lingers in the background of Jailbait, and the perfume scent is perfectly balanced. I was overwhelmed at first by how strong (I thought) Jailbait was, but it mellows out pretty quickly. It reminds me of a lot of the body sprays and hair gels that girls use in junior high and high school -- all of these fruity and floral smells mixing together. It smells fun and happy, but I don't think I'll ever wear it. It's such an interesting scent though, that I'm glad to have tried it.

Wet I absolutely loved this, it does indeed smell of bubble gum, to be precise the bubble gum at the bottom of a twister. Sadly as it dried it dropped quickly through orangey and cinnamony periods before disappearing entirely.

It was too bubblegummy for me, even when on. It reminded me of the Candy Fluff dusting powder and the Creamy Candy stuff Lush make. Headachy sweet.

Bizarre! Shocking! Disturbing! Hilarious! I just had to laugh out loud when I got my first whiff of this scent! At the beginning I smell pineapple and some drippy-pink candy. Wintergreen/sugar sweet/pineapple-like but it's all fake fruit. Man, I feel like a kid. I LOVE it even though it smells like something really wicked. The kind of treat that a really BAD man would offer you to get in his car.

 

It strongly reminds me of my ballet classes as a little girl. I think the candy scent is Ju-Ju-Be's. There is a resiny behind-the-scenes-lurking here (like the resin box that the big girls in toe shoes used) and that's what says "ballet school". It dries down to a cousin of the Arpege-My Sin type of smells, which is exactly what the ladies in the dancing school wore, but the candy never goes away. Really spooky how this recreates a place so long ago.

 

I swear, any of the bleeding edge high toned perfumers like Lolita Lempicka or Thierry Mugler have been outdone by Jailbait. You can't stretch it any further than this one. I heartily recommend it as a throughly evil but wacky smell. I do love this as an art piece.

I went through a phase where Jailbait was just too strong for me. I had an imp then ordered a bottle. I put it on and was totally overwhelmed by it. I could not use it again after that and swapped it away. It wasn't "ewwww", it was "gasp". Too bad.

 

I tried to satisfy my Big Fruit desires with Bordello. Bordello is a great scent, but much tamer and sweeter than Jailbait. I became dissatisfied, restless, out of sorts. What's wrong? I was inculcated with Jailbait and wanted to give it another try. Which I did.

 

Big difference. Was it the weather, the "education" of my nose, a sudden change of heart, the rediscovery of something wonderful which scared me at first? I don't know. But I did refall in love with Jailbait and now it is a staple in my scent wardrobe.

 

It can be overwhelming but that's more a function of its strength rather than it's art. If you like fruity blends with some real starch in them, give Jailbait a try...or another try. I am glad I did. This one really is a "corker".

In the imp: Pink pink PINK Bazooka Joe bubblegum! Covered with sugar. Wow, I feel the cavities forming just from smelling this.

 

Wet: Still pink bubblegum but there's something else underneath it -- older and faintly musky/incensy.

 

Drydown: Hmm... It does something a little weird here and smells a lot like a basket of potpourri. Er....

 

Final thoughts: In the later drydown stages, it calms down and stops smelling so potpourri-like. I'm not quite sure what to think of it. It definitely embodies Jailbait though! I felt like I should have been wearing a Catholic schoolgirl outfit or something!

Wow. This one is overpoweringly candies. Like cherry sweet tarts, tart banana candies, and bubblegum mixed together. It even has the powdery feel you get with sweet tarts and cheap bubblegum. It makes me think of deviant prepubescent girls with sticky hands. Which is why I probably don't like it, I don't want to smell like little girls with sticky hands. Overall this scent is too much for me, too sickly sweet and too strong... gives me a headache. I just bought it because I like the name 'Jailbait'

 

The smell does definitely fit the name... and the blend is rather unique (as are all BPALs <3)... but I sadly just don't like the smell of bubblegum or sweet tarts.
