occurs Report post Posted August 2, 2010 (edited) Gee- I'm a thread-killer... Greenwoodtree, thank you for the rec, i have and love banned in boston, and i haven't given the others much attention until you rec'd them for me, now i have new lemmings! i'll give it a whirl, but i am merely newly obsessed, I think scents in which are both grounded, unique and bold would suit you. Anne bonny for your action taking wild side, some hippie notes like red patchouli, and a grounded base of red sandalwood. Or, perhaps, Scherazade, a new favorite of mine! Strong enough to work with the hippie good grunge and beautiful, alluring, will make people stop and listen for sure! Maybe Coyote for a very earth bound scent, would be great for your activist meetings, Coyote="Trickster God of Chaos and Change" edited because i can't type today Edited August 2, 2010 by occurs Share this post Link to post

Wilde I really enjoy, but it goes a little weird on me after an hour or so (I got a used imp, though, so I'm considering getting a lab fresh one to find out if it's any different). And Saint-Germain is fabulous, though I keep forgetting how much I like it. I'm still on the hunt for my ideal nerdy librarian scent, if anyone has any more recs. <img src="http://www.bpal.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_smile.gif" /><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> If you like woody smells at all, and I feel like that sort of matches libraries, I'd try either Anubis or Heavenly Love and Earthly Love. Might be a bit difficult to get ahold of the latter, depending on your location. I'm still fairly new to figuring out scents and notes and stuff too, so those are my best guesses for now! If you don't like wood, maybe a soft, delicate but not overly girly-floral scent would be Eden or Queen. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> I would like to play too, if I may? I have found a few smells I like, but I don't know if I felt that any of them represented ME. So here goes: I work at a library but even though I adore books, I don't always identify as the "librarian" type. When I was a young teenager I thought I'd be a novelist and then I went through phases of wanting to be a screenwriter, a professional bellydancer, a veterinarian, a professional seamstress, and now I think I've finally decided with seriousness that I want to study psychology. I don't want to birth children, I'd rather help ones that already exist. I want to travel to other countries to both learn and teach. Both of my parents are deceased so I have I'm very adamant about principles, especially of justice and fairness. For this reason and lots of others I'm a pretty strong feminist. I love creating things and have tried or plan to try most of the types of crafts I can think of. My Venus in Taurus also has me loving soft things, shiny things, and good-smelling things of all types. As strongly as I feel about things, I'm also really fun-loving and embrace adventure whenever possible. It's been difficult recently due to LOTS of financial oppression, but I'm going to college again (after a bit away) in the fall and look forward to blossoming a bit more. I'm an Aries sun/Pisces moon/Leo rising so as confident and go-getting as I feel I should be, I'm often sort of insecure and end up daydreaming about being as confident and go-getting as I should be. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> I have only been in the state I live in a few years and have been rather stuffed under a rock so I'm always trying to figure out how to make friends. Oh, and I talk too much. That much is obvious though. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_smile.gif" /> First off, thank you for the rec! i just ordered, perversion, i think that should suit me well ;-* and wanda is catching my attention now as well. You are Genuine, open minded, and a Strong individual who seems to have the ability to think through any issue, problem, and has a great understanding of the world, yourself and others. Maybe something like, Sundew, "A carnivorous enchantress: diverse, lovely and graceful, emitting a sticky, glowing golden, sweet and terminally inviting scent. Its dew is believed to grant eternal beauty and longevity, and restore vitality and vigor to the magician." Maybe for your adventurous side The Lion, "The dry, glorious warmth of the Savannah. A golden, spiced amber, proud, regal and ferocious" And for when times get rough and you want a more calming scent, maybe something like the mouse's long sad tale And since you are going back to school, this is my favorite scent ever and to me it is such a scholarly blend, Brown Jenkin! NicoleJoy Report post Posted August 13, 2010 Just curious... I'm 24 years old, and I'm 5'4 and blonde. Most people would describe me as bubbly, happy, always smiling, sweet, or cute. I have a very high energy personality and a minor shopping addiction. My favorite color is pink. I was a cheerleader in high school, and I have a tendency to come off as a "valley girl." If you take me at face value, you may think I'm a lot of fun but not terribly deep. You'd be mistaken. Get to know me, and you'll realize I was more introverted growing up - a stage I grew out of in time. I worked hard at school, and I have 2 masters degrees incluiding my MBA. I graduated at the top of my class, and my test scores were always in the 99th percentile. I love to read, and I probably spend more time reading and relaxing than partying. I'm addicted to science fiction, especially the works of Orson Scott Card and Neil Gaiman. I also love classical literature. I have a somewhat geeky side, in that I enjoy anime, video games, and computers/technology. I paint - acrylics, mostly - and I've won many prizes for my writing achievements. I'm gifted at poetry, but I prefer short stories. I'm also a tomboy in a certain crowd. I love playing poker, talking cars, and just being "one of the guys." Finally, I have a passion for theatre, film, and performing. I dreamt of being an actress until about midway through college. I would LOVE to see someone come up with a scent based on my personality, mostly because I honestly couldn't peg myself if I tried. Share this post Link to post

teamilk Report post Posted August 14, 2010 Ok well this should be interesting, i don't find describing my self at all easy but i will try! I am 24 years old photographer, strictly darkroom, i am a great printer and printed professionally for 6 years but i am going back to school with scholarships to pursue my own work more thoroughly. I shoot iconic American images, a bit gritty, generally focusing on ordinary life, i am generally detached from my images, although the personal factor is that i am strictly grounded on the non-exotic. I have a great love films in particular some directors i adore are ingmar bergman, fassbinder, early werner herzog, eric rohmer, david cronenburg, mike leigh, bella tarr, andrei tarkovsky, and david lynch (and many many many more) i collect films and i prefer the heady or psychological film that focus on human interactions, emotions, torture and relationships. I love beer. I am a vegetarian. most of my friends are male. i am incredibly sexual. i date and live with an insane painter. I openly discuss extremely sexual acts. I over examine absolutely everything in life, yet i don't take life or society too seriously. I've been often referred to as a deviant, libertine, old fashioned or a hedonist. I am into cats, i work at lush, i am a lush, completely over indulgent and frivolous with my money. I am incredibly good to my close friends but only have a few. Too blatantly blunt and honest at times... My favorite musicians are tom waits, nick cave, leadbelly, woody guthrie, nina simone, and elliott smith, but i am into all music and have a large vinyl collection and a million cds and i am anti-i-pod. I am a regular at an old baltimore tavern that caters to the strangest people you can imagine but once you are in, it is as good as cheers. Physically, i am brown hair, brown eyed, i wear cat eyes liquid liner and red lipstick and i have a beauty mark on my cheek. i am average-curvy in size. I have 1950's decorative cat eye glasses in which i wear when i have to read or am in school. Lets see what this brings in!... thanks for reading First off, I have a crazy crush on you now. Second off, I was thinking Wanda or Banned in Boston. And, oddly enough, the Red Queen. Share this post Link to post

MaritzaCardona Report post Posted August 17, 2010 Hi! I have found out that describing myself is difficult but I shall give it a try. I'm a 27 years old New Yorker who moved to Puerto Rico at a young age. I was classified as a tom boy when little and I believe some still peg me as one at moments. I am 5'1" with dark eyes and black hair and I am attracted to dark and metallic colors, especially purple, blue, red, black, and hey, even pink. I am a morning person even though I love the night. I'm a scorpio who loves to walk in the rain and my favorite seasons are autumn (yay for halloweenies!) and winter. I'm shy and serious, but when you get to know my you'll find that I have a geeky, funny and sweet side also. I am pursuing my Master's degree in Literature and I'm currently writing my thesis proposal in the portrayal of female vampires in 19th and 20th century Gothic Lit. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Education (English as a Second Language). I am currently employed at my university as an assistant librarian and I am loving it. I love to teach and do research. As long as I am surrounded by books I am a happy person. I love to read classic gothic lit, horror, fantasy and young adult novels. I love film, animals, cosplaying, musicals, and theater. I'm a quiet person with a strong personality. I'm serious, mysterious, and tend to use sarcasm and a defense mechanism. I like the smell of vanilla, sweet and a bit of spicy scents. I'm a quiet person with a strong personality. I'm serious, mysterious, and tend to use sarcasm and a defense mechanism. I like the smell of vanilla, sweet and a bit of spicy scents. I'm still pretty new to BPAL, so I haven't tried a whole lot of scents, but I'll give this a go! Shub Niggurath from A Picnic in Arkham sounds like it might be a really good fit for you. It's bold and spicy with an underlying sweetness that comes out on the dry down. It has long lasting power and is a very energetic scent, great in the morning for getting up and getting after it! Scherezade is sweet and complex and would fit right in with a love of literature and books. It's not a total "pay attention to me" scent, but it will get you noticed in a more understated, sensual way. And if you want to go totally different, smoky and earthy, try Malediction. As for me: I am extremely blunt and outspoken when I do decide to speak up. Usually, I prefer to sit back, watch, listen, and assess a situation or conversation before jumping in. I'm quick to defend the defenseless, either verbally or physically, and I am an ex-police officer who got out of the job because I hated the internal corruption. I don't compromise my morals and will sooner walk away from a person or situation than allow them to put me in that sort of position, even if it costs me to do so. I'm not shy, but I am reserved. I don't like PDA's, either giving or receiving, but in private I'm very loving and quick to offer a touch or a kiss. Most of my intimate relationships have been open ones with good, solid communication. I don't like the idea of anyone tying me down (metaphorically) or getting anything from me that isn't freely offered and given. I'm bisexual and very comfortable with my sexuality. I've done and tried a lot of things that society frowns on, but IMO, if it's between two or more consenting adults, it's nobody's business but those involved. I don't readily display emotion around people I don't know and trust, but I don't have contempt for or discomfort around people who do. I wear primarily blacks, purples, blues, and reds, and I like a classy, tailored look as opposed to anything overtly frilly or feminine. My hair is short and black, my eyes blue-green, and my skin pinkish pale. I am 5'7", very solidly built and curvy. (I sink like a rock in swimming pools despite the curves.) I'm 40 years old, but most people tell me they think I'm in my early mid-thirties until they find out differently. My interests are wildly varied, from the metaphysical to the biological sciences; however, I am not at all religious. I love to read and write, fiction and non-fiction, particularly history, horror, and sci-fi, play RPG's, cook, garden, kayak, and SCUBA dive. I was a roller derby skater until a non-derby related injury destroyed my skating ability. I am extremely competitive, quick to anger, and can hold grudges forever. It's something I'm working on to limited success. I don't mind being the center of attention, although I don't actively seek it, and I actually enjoy public speaking, poetry readings, and story telling. Once in a blue moon, I dust off my art supplies and sketch or do pen and ink renderings. Most of my creativity runs to word smithing these days. Share this post Link to post
Anathema Report post Posted September 11, 2010 I know this thread is kind of old, but I figured I would bump it because I'm really interested in what people will say. I love these kinds of things! The only bad thing about this is my personality tends to be really multi-faceted and I'm kind of hard to pin down. I wish I were more pulled together, but I'm not. Anyway, on to the description of me: I'm 22 and recently graduated with a degree in Spanish and International Relations. However, I plan to go to grad school for Anthropology. I like cooking, reading classic fiction, knitting, shopping and meeting new people. I'm very shy when people first meet me, but open up quickly if you seem kind. I love fall weather, rolling in leaves, good cups of coffee, bonfires, Christmas cookies, fireplaces, warm blankets, the smell of my parents' home, big cities where I can be anonymous, cotton candy, tea, chocolate, my hometown and pumpkins. I dislike hot weather, barbecues, shorts, bugs, overly sunny days, sexist humor, crowded malls, the color yellow, bright eyeshadow. I'm not sure if this is enough to go on. I'm always willing to add more! Share this post Link to post

jojohanna Report post Posted September 17, 2010 (edited) I'm a newbie, so I'm not yet familiar with many scents. If you all could recommend one/some that would be awesome!! I'm still trying to decide which 6 imps I should get, or which full size. I'm a very creative person (scrap booking, photography, art, crafts, jewelry making, etc)and love doing anything creative. I love museums and going to the library. I LOVE LOVE to cook. People describe me as happy, laid back, cute, confident, sometimes quiet, and sweet and at times sexy. I'm every bit a Taurus. I love reading (especially any vampire novels). I love pin-up style. I love all music. I'm not big on foody scents like baked goods or coffee (REALLY dislike coffee). I'm not sporty at all. I'm very versatile. I like things light and airy at times, but then there are times i like things dark and sexy. I'm very devoted to my family and close friends. I also love my sorority sisters. I have LONG blonde hair and hazel eyes, I'm a curvy girl. I love makeup and perfumes, I'm mostly in my bluejeans and a t-shirt with flip flops. I'm quiet when you first meet me, but then its like BAM...i open up and show my personality. Its alot, I know!! Thanks so much for any recommendation!! starfish327 Report post Posted September 20, 2010 okay this sounds like fun...maybe. i'm roughly 5'5" of eastern european/germanic/slavic descent and rather round. i'm an almost cliched aries- i have a fast temper, i do tend to think about myself first automatically (but not necessarily act on that thought), but i'm also driven to learn and i'm passionate about community involvement and the like. i'm a true academic. i'm literally not happy because i'm not in school right now. i need that level of social interaction and mental stimulation. however, i prefer to study weird things- i went in to school orginially for epidemiology and ended up with a master's in alternate family structures. i don't handle hot weather well. fall's my favorite season, with samhain and yule being my favorite holidays. i love goth and horror cultures, though i don't dress goth at all. i'm addicted to carbs and diet soda. i love to knit and i collect sheep. Little Bird Report post Posted September 20, 2010 ... Its alot, I know!! Thanks so much for any recommendation!! I'd recommend Philologus (notes of "ancient books, crackled parchment, faded incense, and candle wax") since you like museums, libraries, vampire novels, and light and airy scents. I found it to be clean with a slightly bookish feel. And VILF for the darker, sexier, pin-up side of vampires (notes of "patchouli-infused honey, red musk, red sandalwood, red ginger, pink pepper, Peru balsam, dark Eastern florals, Himalayan cedar, smoky vanilla, bitter clove, and leather"). The Unicorn is light and airy and has an approachable, casual feel to me that I think works well with jeans and a t-shirt. Dorian also has a light and airy feel, but also a touch of sweetness and a darker, sexier edge to it. It smells confident and quietly sexy to me. I think that Dorian is awesome and works for just about anything, though, lol. Share this post Link to post
Little Bird Report post Posted September 20, 2010 okay this sounds like fun...maybe. Maybe: *Lambs-Wool (just for the name, makes me think of sheep things) *Ichabod Crane (was a Samhain LE with the horror edge, and has a wool note for the sheep connection) *Shango (for the aries temper and your sense of philanthropy and desire to keep learning new things) *Wrath (spices for a fiery temper) Share this post Link to post

thelaurenator Report post Posted September 21, 2010 What the hey, I'll take a turn. Introverted and/but friendly. SAHM, elf lover, brown. Hippie but loves computers/technology. Writes fantasy, loves mythology/religions. Favorite animals are mollusks, crustaceans, turtles and tortoises. Can be loquacious but loves free/alone time to reflect. Motherly, pretty laid back, loves RPGs, my spouse, my kid. Love trickster deities, can't do chaste deities. Sun in Cancer, Moon in Libra, Aquarius rising I believe. And on a perfume related note, dislike white flower smells. I think I did this correctly...*drinks more coffee* I'm thinking Lyonesse for you! It has a kind of watery feel without being a sharp aquatic, and I think the rich amber smells would satisfy the earthiness in you. Okay everyone, do me if you can. I am straight up weird. I'm an INFJ, which is the rarest Myers-Briggs personality type (and trust me, I wish I weren't). I'm well-liked but an outcast at the same time. I'm deeply attracted to sensual and beautiful things. I love colors, smells, tastes, and sounds... I'm also an intellectual. I'm applying for a Ph.D. in history and women's studies this fall. I love art, and I love everything that is old-fashioned. I am obsessed with animals. I need a lot of "me" time each day and I hate crowds. I have an eclectic taste, scent-wise. I'll try anything. For me, it's about chemistry more than notes. Your description made me think of Versailles - "Grand, courtly and robust: a glittering, golden scent that would do Louis XIV proud. Gilded red and gold citrus with amber, ruby roses, jasmine and orris." I definitely get sensual and beautiful from it, with a touch of the historical & old fashioned rose perfume feel. The colors for me really pop with this blend too, I get that glittering gold, citrus orange, and shining ruby red from the description very vividly whenever I smell Versailles. And I second Lyonesse for trisj . Share this post Link to post

Sabir Report post Posted September 21, 2010 I kind of want to take a stab at this, just to see what comes up. Ok, so I'm extremely introverted and when I do feel like social interaction, I'm very shy. I'm well grounded and loyal. I like to be there for my friends whenever I can. I'm intellectual. I hardly ever express excitement (or other emotions for that matter) outwardly It often amuses people greatly when I do express myself. I like to be organized, and I can focus on small details for hours and be happy while doing it. Other people have told me they think I am strong and courageous, but instead of owning that, I just sort of quietly tuck it away, along with all my other traits. On the downside, I'm very moody and hard to read. Share this post Link to post
Korrok Report post Posted September 22, 2010 Also kinda curious to see if anyone has a recommendation. I'm a 25 year old female, tall and a tad overweight with dark brown/black hair and very pale skin, coming originally from Scotland. I moved to the Netherlands to be with my love, even though I don't really like it here. I tend to dress in black jeans/Tripp pants, and t-shirts, but I also love cybergothic style, masks, goggles, hair falls etc. I love rock music and industrial music. I am an artist/illustrator, mainly focusing on animals. I love animals dearly, they bring me a lot of joy, and I especially like canines (coyotes are a favourite) and hyenas, though most others too! My personality is a little difficult. I suffer from clinical depression and borderline personality disorder, along with some social anxiety, which has rendered me unable to have a real job. I have a very very poor self-image and very low confidence. I am however proud, independent, a bit stubborn, sensitive, shy, loyal and very loving. I don't have a bubbly personality in the least, more cynical, dark and surreal. I am very quiet around strangers, quiet in general, but can be really quite talkative with friends or people I feel comfortable with. I have a bit of a lazy streak and love home comforts and cuddles. I am told I have a very strong and attractive personality, can be very funny, and take well to leadership roles. I am smart, but no longer academic due to my mental health interfering with my schooling (I was once a top student) and creating a lot of difficulties in concentration. I prefer the company of males in general to other females, and am a strange combination of feminine and unfeminine. I am vain and like makeup, perfume, clothes, but at the same time, I don't really know how to do it "right", and am not very girly. I do however love the colour pink and typically "pink" girly fragrances. It confuses me too. I love sweets both in perfume and in food! So yeah...have at it. O_o I think this might be a tough one! Little Bird Report post Posted September 22, 2010 Sabir, hiding your emotions and being hard to read made me think of Intrigue, as people who are a bit guarded always seem mysterious to me. Your description also made me think of Ogun, since you are loyal and others see you as strong and courageous. Also, The Lion, just because I see that as being a strong, quiet scent with a loyal warmth to it... Share this post Link to post
