LOVE!!! Absolutely intoxicating! So, I don't really sense Snake Oil distinctively. On me, it's a warmly silky red musk incense that opens with a tender hint of green rose stem and settles into an addictive precious masterpiece. If you love deeply warm almost sweet incense and red musk and a hint of dewy rose that isn't powdery or soapy at all, this perfume could be your holy grail. It's my favorite so far for 2023!

This is absolutely beautiful! I have been avoiding hair gloss purchases because my collection is too big, but this scent description was irresistible! The sweet juicy tropical mango note is dominant at the opening, which soon gives way to a creamy smooth hug that reminds me a little bit of Dragon Smooch. I don't sense patchouli at all, which I was actually hoping for, so I agree that it's more of a very subtle deepening effect rather than identifiable as a strong presence. I love this so so much and will be using it a lot!

Beautifully balanced! I am able to pick out each note when I concentrate on it. If you dislike patchouli then this may not be for you, but if you love it, this is a gorgeously resonant blend! The fruitiness is subtle and not too sweet, the rose gives zest without being powdery/potpourri, the deep notes give warmth without weight. Really loving it ❤️

The orange blossom in the opening is zesty and tender at the same time, a gorgeous invigorating glow with the bright kiss of pink peppercorn accenting the beams of light. This phase is short lived, a segue into summery, pale, clover honey and unlit fragrant resins. This perfume is joyful, gleaming with sunshine, a celebration of seasonal solar abundance and silken wildflower petals.

One of my latest GC personal discoveries! Satyr is a fan favorite that I had somehow overlooked until recently. The notes aren't listed and I didn't peek at other reviews before writing down my own impressions. On my skin, Satyr is a sexy, sweetly animalic decadent red musk that opens with a short-lived accent of sparkling citrus effervescence. The aroma then opens up to conjure an impression of cola, and perhaps a little powdery sandalwood/champaca incense. It's warmly magnetic and come-hither, and feels a little naughty. If you love deeply sensual, indulgent red musk, you have to try Satyr!

I am completely in love with this incredibly special hidden gem! Like A Girl is primarily a skin musk, a softly glowing aura imbued with quiet confidence. The vanilla is light as a cloud, the sandalwood is smooth but delicate. The sexy woody animalistic costus and brightly resinous frankincense are just the right twist to add intrigue to its soft tones. I need a backup before it comes down. I have put a sizeable dent in my bottle already!

Bounce is a giggling, euphoric, joyful, weightless ascent (no jarring sharpness of an actual impact). It is a celebration of pure uplift, of carefree sunbeams through puffy summer clouds. The intent is intensely positive, and the aroma is breathtakingly beautiful. If you love orange blossom, this oil will light up your whole heart.

The juiciness of the wine note is such a burst of delight! The rose is calming and clean (yet not green/fresh), and the dragon's blood is wonderfully subtle, giving a fuzzy warmth. This nostalgically conjures crimson wooden rosary beads I was gifted as a child, they were rose petal scented and one of my first distinct scent memories. I am really loving this, it's easy to wear and very beautiful. 5/5

Vanilla delight! The lavender is so smooth and gentle that I didn't sense it at first on my skin (it is a little more detectable in the bottle but still quiet). The overall effect with the vanilla buttercream notes strangely slightly reminds me of vanilla pipe tobacco, which is probably just a personal scent association with a vanilla note in the blend. It is lifted without any sharpness, and deliciously sweet without being syrupy or cloying. BPAL doesn't often release vanilla-centric gorgeousness like this, I can see it being a beloved favorite in years to come!

Paramatman - SKIN TEST REQUIRED! This dreamy perfume features a liberal dose of neroli, which smells like bitter orange rind in the bottle, but COMPLETELY morphs into delicate orange blossoms shimmering in a warm spring breeze within moments on the skin. The white floral aroma expands with complexity from velvety champaca petals, grounded by the warm glow of precious sandalwood. Paramatman is one of my very favorite General Catalog perfumes and I implore you to try a sample on your skin, give this baby some love!

Breathtakingly pretty, much different than what I expected! The floral notes sing on my skin, beautiful and confident. This perfume is very lifted, not a heavy resin/incense scent at all. I'm so stoked that I finally got to try this!

I haven’t posted a review on the forum in a very long time, but Treasure of Love is very special. I find it to be very calming - brain medicine for me lately. The rose is dry and effervescent like aldehydes. The golden tones of sandalwood and rockrose are gentle and subtle and resonant, lifted and not thick at all. I don’t pick up on vanilla much, it is an accent note to slightly burnish the overall effect. I only allowed myself to choose one perfume from the Lupers update this year, and I know that I chose the best one for me. Peaceful and elegant.

Miss Spink would be my first recommendation, because it's still available for purchase. As for LE, my favorite is Marae from 2008. "Vanilla orchid, Monoi tiare, gardenia, and light incense."

If you like Shampure, would recommend a blend that includes lavender, ylang ylang, rose, patchouli, and orange. A very simple classic combo, it smells like a spa. You may enjoy the Alex and Ani perfume, Scent 7. Also, there is a thread here that talks about BPALs that Shampure lovers should try. Recommendations include Namaste, Nanshe, Twilight, and Veil.

A fur and cap all made of snow: frosted vanilla sandalwood. A Lady Tall and White opens with an intense frost accord, which hits my senses as an aquatic shiver with a kiss of cool green mint and frozen winter pine needles. Newly anointed on the skin, I am not sensing the warm vanilla sandalwood base that I was expecting, so I am biting my lip and reminding myself to be patient and just let the scent develop! As the aroma settles and starts to reveal the true fragrance, the cold watery iciness calms (but does not vanish by any means). I am vaguely reminded of Snow Glass Apples, the same chilly flurry of top notes dances in the air and in my memory. The oil melds further with my chemistry and the hum of depth underneath the snow is smooth but quiet. This isn't the rich vanilla gourmand Child Of Monsterbait: Underpants as I may have hoped, but it is delicately beautiful and possesses a subtle tenderness. The lightly musky sandalwood tone emerges with a peaceful silence. I look forward to slathering this to see what happens. Right now, it smells like starlight and snowflakes.
