    Heartshow

Fruity, dirty, musky, deep sexy goodness. I can see why some people have compared this to the original formulation of Mme. Moriarty. I am deeply in love with this scent!

    The Serpent in the Roses

LOVE!!! Absolutely intoxicating! So, I don't really sense Snake Oil distinctively. On me, it's a warmly silky red musk incense that opens with a tender hint of green rose stem and settles into an addictive precious masterpiece. If you love deeply warm almost sweet incense and red musk and a hint of dewy rose that isn't powdery or soapy at all, this perfume could be your holy grail. It's my favorite so far for 2023!

Erotic Drops of Flower Petals Hair Gloss

This is absolutely beautiful! I have been avoiding hair gloss purchases because my collection is too big, but this scent description was irresistible! The sweet juicy tropical mango note is dominant at the opening, which soon gives way to a creamy smooth hug that reminds me a little bit of Dragon Smooch. I don't sense patchouli at all, which I was actually hoping for, so I agree that it's more of a very subtle deepening effect rather than identifiable as a strong presence. I love this so so much and will be using it a lot!
  4. A fur and cap all made of snow: frosted vanilla sandalwood. A Lady Tall and White opens with an intense frost accord, which hits my senses as an aquatic shiver with a kiss of cool green mint and frozen winter pine needles. Newly anointed on the skin, I am not sensing the warm vanilla sandalwood base that I was expecting, so I am biting my lip and reminding myself to be patient and just let the scent develop! As the aroma settles and starts to reveal the true fragrance, the cold watery iciness calms (but does not vanish by any means). I am vaguely reminded of Snow Glass Apples, the same chilly flurry of top notes dances in the air and in my memory. The oil melds further with my chemistry and the hum of depth underneath the snow is smooth but quiet. This isn't the rich vanilla gourmand Child Of Monsterbait: Underpants as I may have hoped, but it is delicately beautiful and possesses a subtle tenderness. The lightly musky sandalwood tone emerges with a peaceful silence. I look forward to slathering this to see what happens. Right now, it smells like starlight and snowflakes.

    Illuni Nocte

Beautifully balanced! I am able to pick out each note when I concentrate on it. If you dislike patchouli then this may not be for you, but if you love it, this is a gorgeously resonant blend! The fruitiness is subtle and not too sweet, the rose gives zest without being powdery/potpourri, the deep notes give warmth without weight. Really loving it ❤️

    Pleasure Abundant

The orange blossom in the opening is zesty and tender at the same time, a gorgeous invigorating glow with the bright kiss of pink peppercorn accenting the beams of light. This phase is short lived, a segue into summery, pale, clover honey and unlit fragrant resins. This perfume is joyful, gleaming with sunshine, a celebration of seasonal solar abundance and silken wildflower petals.

    Satyr

One of my latest GC personal discoveries! Satyr is a fan favorite that I had somehow overlooked until recently. The notes aren't listed and I didn't peek at other reviews before writing down my own impressions. On my skin, Satyr is a sexy, sweetly animalic decadent red musk that opens with a short-lived accent of sparkling citrus effervescence. The aroma then opens up to conjure an impression of cola, and perhaps a little powdery sandalwood/champaca incense. It's warmly magnetic and come-hither, and feels a little naughty. If you love deeply sensual, indulgent red musk, you have to try Satyr!

    Like a Girl

I am completely in love with this incredibly special hidden gem! Like A Girl is primarily a skin musk, a softly glowing aura imbued with quiet confidence. The vanilla is light as a cloud, the sandalwood is smooth but delicate. The sexy woody animalistic costus and brightly resinous frankincense are just the right twist to add intrigue to its soft tones. I need a backup before it comes down. I have put a sizeable dent in my bottle already!

    Bounce

Bounce is a giggling, euphoric, joyful, weightless ascent (no jarring sharpness of an actual impact). It is a celebration of pure uplift, of carefree sunbeams through puffy summer clouds. The intent is intensely positive, and the aroma is breathtakingly beautiful. If you love orange blossom, this oil will light up your whole heart.

    Blood Rose

The juiciness of the wine note is such a burst of delight! The rose is calming and clean (yet not green/fresh), and the dragon's blood is wonderfully subtle, giving a fuzzy warmth. This nostalgically conjures crimson wooden rosary beads I was gifted as a child, they were rose petal scented and one of my first distinct scent memories. I am really loving this, it's easy to wear and very beautiful. 5/5

    Two Frames

Vanilla delight! The lavender is so smooth and gentle that I didn't sense it at first on my skin (it is a little more detectable in the bottle but still quiet). The overall effect with the vanilla buttercream notes strangely slightly reminds me of vanilla pipe tobacco, which is probably just a personal scent association with a vanilla note in the blend. It is lifted without any sharpness, and deliciously sweet without being syrupy or cloying. BPAL doesn't often release vanilla-centric gorgeousness like this, I can see it being a beloved favorite in years to come!

    Paramatman

Paramatman - SKIN TEST REQUIRED! This dreamy perfume features a liberal dose of neroli, which smells like bitter orange rind in the bottle, but COMPLETELY morphs into delicate orange blossoms shimmering in a warm spring breeze within moments on the skin. The white floral aroma expands with complexity from velvety champaca petals, grounded by the warm glow of precious sandalwood. Paramatman is one of my very favorite General Catalog perfumes and I implore you to try a sample on your skin, give this baby some love!

    Social Justice Paladin

Breathtakingly pretty, much different than what I expected! The floral notes sing on my skin, beautiful and confident. This perfume is very lifted, not a heavy resin/incense scent at all. I'm so stoked that I finally got to try this!

    Treasure Room of Love

I haven’t posted a review on the forum in a very long time, but Treasure of Love is very special. I find it to be very calming - brain medicine for me lately. The rose is dry and effervescent like aldehydes. The golden tones of sandalwood and rockrose are gentle and subtle and resonant, lifted and not thick at all. I don’t pick up on vanilla much, it is an accent note to slightly burnish the overall effect. I only allowed myself to choose one perfume from the Lupers update this year, and I know that I chose the best one for me. Peaceful and elegant.

    Looking for a Gardenia scent

Miss Spink would be my first recommendation, because it's still available for purchase. As for LE, my favorite is Marae from 2008. "Vanilla orchid, Monoi tiare, gardenia, and light incense."

Looking for hippie but not too incense-y

If you like Shampure, would recommend a blend that includes lavender, ylang ylang, rose, patchouli, and orange. A very simple classic combo, it smells like a spa. You may enjoy the Alex and Ani perfume, Scent 7. Also, there is a thread here that talks about BPALs that Shampure lovers should try. Recommendations include Namaste, Nanshe, Twilight, and Veil.

    Love Attraction

Based on a traditional Southern conjure blend, this oil opens up romantic opportunities, warms friendships, and simply draws others to you. "Love Attraction contains rose otto and Bulgarian rose with French lavender, bourbon vanilla, ethically-harvested white sandalwood, and red clover extract from the TAL garden. It can be used on the pulse points as needed, and is appropriate for use ritually to dress sigils, red lodestones, and red figure or pillar candles. This oil was consecrated nightly for seven days, all during the hours of Venus and Sol." I've been using this oil quite a bit lately. My husband and I are going through a very difficult time in our relationship, to the point where I'm not sure if he can rediscover his love for me - but I've been trying everything to rekindle positive emotions for us. Along with counseling and effort and all of that, I've been utilizing gemstones, TAL oils, a red candle, and my TAL Little Red Love Jar. As for this gorgeous oil in particular, Love Attraction is a powerful scent, althoughy not in ways I intended initially. I have been awakening to a true love of myself, restoring my own inner confidence (rather than trying to project confidence). I will come back to edit this review given more time, to evaluate whether it helps my relationship, but it's been revitalizing to start taking better care of myself and truly believing in my self-worth. The scent of Love Attraction is absolutely gorgeous and can definitely be enjoyed for its perfume as well as its properties. The most prominent note on me is the summery, powdery, hay-like red clover. It's lovely. I can sense the rose notes also. The other notes are very subtle and basically undetectable with my chemistry. I love this oil and will continue to use it with good intention, along with TAL Amor and TAL Blessing of Isis. <3

    Eastern Comma

A deliciously juicy, beautiful orange note sparkles sun-warmed in the opening. A little later, the chewy rich tobacco note starts to come out a little, still dazzled into submission by the effervescent orange. The hay is warm and subtle and meshes with the tobacco note so much that they aren't really distinct or separate. There is an almost syrupy quality to the overall aroma, in a really enjoyable way. I can see why this was such a popular, raved-about scent! I'm glad I snagged a bottle!

    Question Mark

I am really happy with how this is working out on me! At the opening, the zesty happy orange blossom is the star on me, and harmonizes happily with the hint of cinnamon and myrrh. I don't really pick up on tobacco or vanilla much at all. As the orange blossom settles, the scent shifts and the blend softens, but doesn't morph into anything dark or creamy on me, which is what I was anticipating from tobacco and vanilla at the base. It stays higher pitched, with a pillowy, almost powdery quality.

Single Note: Last Year's Stale Candy Corn

I see the comparison to Lush Snowcake (even perhaps a hint of BPAL Snow White). There is a flinty dryness in this scent that reminds me of the dryness I get from the coconut in Snow White. This perfume is creamy, sugary, butterscotchy, and sweet in the bottle, but on my skin it does deflate somehow. I prefer the warmth of the Trick or Treat candy corn BPAL scent to this one, personally. I think it is the type of scent that will probably improve with age and smooth out.

    Halfling

Magic. Yes, I think it smells just like Cap'n Crunch Berries cereal, and it's absolutely Wonderful! Pastry ~ baked goods ~ temptation, with a berry fruit compote. The fact that this gloriously foodie, delicious BPAL is a General Catalogue fragrance makes me soooooo very happy! Delicious. Yum.

    Brown Thrasher

Wet on the skin, I get intensely sweet brown sugar, syrupy and sticky goodness. After the opening stage, the scent pulls a crazy gorgeous morphing maneuver, and becomes precious woods, tobacco, toasted almond, and a hint of cedar on me (cedar probably from the slightly dry white sandalwood note). Insanely good, instant love, I can see this becoming a cult favorite! I'm slathering with reckless abandon and loving every second of it
  23. I like the lush, humid floral scents in the summer. My favorite is Marae, it reminds me of gardenia. A good clean scent is Wensleydale, it's like fresh cotton sheets dried in the sun.

    Summoning Stone Play Structure

The green freshness of this scent reminds me of Gibbous Moon. It has a powdery sweetness from the fresh floral notes, I'd be surprised if linden blossom wasn't a main component. The clover/hay note is lightly musky. I really like the subtletly of the grass.

    Ile de la Tortue

Home to the Brethren of the Coast and a notorious safe-haven for pirates, this island was once described as the common place of refuge for all sorts of wickedness, the seminary of pirates and thieves. Damp air trapped in limestone caverns, heady greenery, hothouse orchids, nicotiana blossoms, bois de chandel, elemi, palm wine, garambullo, pega-pega, flame of the forest, and a swirl of Haitian vetiver. My oh my! The pressure of the first review! I'm having trouble putting my finger on any individual notes...this is a fresh, tropical floral, and I am assuming that the orchid is dominating. This is very young and bright, and awfully pretty. I feel like I'm sitting near a freshly arranged bouquet of dewy blossoms. (adjective overload.....) Something about Ile de la Tortue is reminding me of childhood. I feel like I've smelled this kind of scent before, and it's making me smile. It reminds me of gardenia, although I don't think there's any in here. (I guess my nose isn't very sophisticated....) Very nice. I don't know if it's something I would wear regularly, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some all-out raves about this one
