Creature Feature

Recommended Posts

The struggle of man against metaphor: these movies symbolize man's conflict with the destruction he wreaks on the environment. The antagonists in Creature Features are usually victims of radiation, pollution, or experiments gone awry - monsters created by the folly of men. Examples: Creature From the Black Lagoon, Godzilla, King Kong, Mothra, Gorgo, Destroy All Monsters, Them!

Giant Monster Musk!

This is very well-blended, and it's hard to pick out the notes. I'll give it my best try, but am probably way off.

Wet in the bottle, this reminds me very slightly of Green Phoenix. I am getting cucumber and a dash of lime (though my roommate doesn't get lime at all). There is also a slight hint of resin, possibly frankincense? Wet, I also get a very, very faint hint of something creamy and sweet.

This is definitely a morpher. Wet on my skin, yep - musk. A little lime peeking out behind greenish musk. And I think the creatures breathe fire, because I got a strong flash of something very smoky while it was drying down. The smoke mostly clears, and on drydown the scent settles into a very lovely, soft musk - nowhere near as strong as the Lab's red or dark musks. A little sweet, a little smoky. It definitely reads as "green" to me.

This is exactly what I'd hoped for - I can't wait to see how it settles/ages.

This one is really fascinating and much more complex than I thought it would be given the very simple scent description.

In the bottle: Deep, sweet, and softly rounded. This is so very well blended that I really can't make out any specific notes or even really what kinds of musks are present.

Fresh On Skin: It's a bit brighter and almost developed a little spice. Still has that amazing rich creaminess that defies description. I keep coming back to sniff and I still can't figure it out. It's gorgeous though.

Drydown: Bright, sweet, creamy, gently spiced, and ever so slightly smoky. It does have just the teeniest little bit of powderiness, but not enough to really dissuade me from wearing it.

I had initially bought Creature Feature expecting it to be extremely simple, thining I'd use it to pep up other oils that needed a little something extra. This one has really surprised me though. It's absolutely wearable on its own, with all the character and interest that I had hoped it might have. Very very yummy and I'm glad to have gotten a bottle.

This is totally not what I was expecting, but I love it! It's a clean, soft musk that is very wearable and *good*. It stays close to the skin, but makes me want to keep sniffing my wrist.. Very nice!

This is a great musk blend - no red musk, which I hate, but I think I detect a bit of black musk because I'm getting a hint of the lemon-esque note I get from Haunted. No sourness that I sometimes get from BPAL musks, this one starts and stays sweet.

Creature Feature wears incredibly well; it's sexy, stays close to the skin, and begs for others to lean in closer :D

This was pure musk to me. I was also thinking black musk as opposed to red.

Sniffing the bottle, it's a light, citrus, fresh scent.

Wet on my skin, has a soft sweet, green scent. This does remind me of Haunted a bit too.

As it dries, I'm getting a mildly sweet lemon-lime musk and amber scent on my skin.

I don't quite know how to describe this beyond musky. Green musk? Does that exist? It smells a little green. And clean.

I like Creature Feature a whole lot, even if I can't explain it! I could wear this often and not get tired of it. Musky scents are among my favorites, but I tend to avoid them in hot weather. This musk is summer-friendly.

Neat! This is a black musk, warm like coyote to me. Stays close to the skin, very unassumingly sexy. But alas! It goes to powder on me after an hour or two.

This is a radioactive lime green glowing blend...distantly related to blends like 51, so if you are into that one then snap this baby up while you can. This is softer, prettier, and girlier than 51, in my opinion, while being somehow less perfumey, and I like it a lot better, actually. This is not my usual genre of fragrance, but of this genre I think that this blend is the best by far and I'll definitely get some wear out of it!

:thud:

Creature Feature is AMAZING. It's the perfect musk blend. It's the musk scent I've been waiting for my entire life.

I don't know how to describe it, it's so perfectly blended, but I'll try. It is a flawless unisex musk -- well, maybe a bit more on the feminine side. Soft, warm and round. Almost "furry." Slightly powdery drydown, but not baby powder-ish. I do not detect any red musk (with its telltale fruitiness) in here. White and black musks, maybe? Skin musk? Nothing green or soapy here, to my nose.

You know how Jovan Musk smells good but kind of cheap and high-school-ish? Imagine Jovan Musk in her mid-30s, wearing a little black dress and high heels -- grown up, sophisticated and drop dead sexy.

I am going to buy multiple bottles and hoard this. :wub2:

Sniffed: Amber coloured oil. Very 'traditional older lady perfume'. Classic florals and amber, with an oriental twist. A little cologne-y. Honestly? I don't get musk. It actually reminds me a little of Thalassa - the same jasmine and bitter almond combo.

Wet: Same...maybe more incensey. Definitely that bitter almond note, that's a little benzaldehyde-y, but only barely, and does add a lovely creaminess. Amber, amber galore. I also get a hint of something medicinal, so there could be a little red musk in this. The jasmine is light, but there, and provides a touch of soap.

Dry: The fundamental sweetness of this blend does suggest some black musk, as others have noted, and while it's not jumping out, I suspect it's there. I really don't get citrus - but I think the sharpness of the amber and jasmine could produce that sort of brightness, maybe.

Summary: AMBER, whoa. Going super powdery. I do get the black musk more distinctly, but the powdery amber is definitely in charge, with the bitter, creamy almond just below. Faint wisp of soapy jasmine. Moderate throw and good longevity.

I don't really feel this is musky...and feel somewhat sadly misled as a result. :\

in the bottle holy hunter moon 07 clone! very musky, very elegantly feral

wet on skin where HM07 is wine-y and red, this is very chartreuse in feeling, but still very similar. it's a bit like buck moon, actually, only softer and more feminine.

dry on skin there's a green, lime-y citrus in the background which is playing off the fuzzy musk really nicely, giving an overall creaminess.

this is very close to buck moon, hunter moon 07, and ivanushka as far as the musk goes and shares some of the softness of fae, too. the bright lime really sets this apart from those others.

eta on extreme drydown i get the lovely dark "greasiness" of amber. it's slightly powdery, but just makes the musk fuzzier, so i like it. the green note burns off entirely and the result is something very, very much like ivanushka.

Sweet and fuzzy musk. This is light and inoffensive, not beat you over the head musk. I really quite like it. It wears relatively close. I'm not getting much of a citrus vibe here at all, but my skin tends not to wear citrus well so even if it is here, it probably wouldn't show up on me. I agree with other posters about the Ivanuska/Hunter Moon comparison. There seems to be a vanillic creaminess that comes out further into the drydown. This is just gorgeous!

This is exactly what I was hoping for out of this scent :D It's musk with a slightly sweet twinge to it and it's incredibly smooth and creamy (and yet, not a foody scent - it's smooth and creamy but MUSKY).

Honestly, if you like musk, this is a must own in my opinion. It's lovely all by itself, but will also be PERFECT for layering and making other scents muskier :D

Brianne was right on the money....this is a wonderful smooth, lightly..barely sweet musk. I think I may need a bottle of this! :D

I am so, so glad I bought a bottle of this unsniffed. It's just what I was hoping for!

In the bottle it is very bright and green smelling -- it's a bit of a surprise at first because it's not what I'm expecting. That must be the radiation that makes the monsters so monstrous :)

On skin, immediately it starts mellowing into a warm, soft musk that is definitely reminiscent of Hunter Moon 07 -- absolutely no complaints there, because I adore HM07! It isn't quite as sweet, because it's missing that fruity edge, but still very similar.

And on drydown? It starts to edge into something reminiscent of Buck Moon, which is one of my absolute favourites! It's a warm, furry, comforting musk, with just an edge of powder. This is a happy, comfy scent (which may be a little odd considering the theme -- but then again there's something about Godzilla that has always made me absurdly happy, so there you go!). Definitely a winner!

Mmm, this is a gentle, summery musk blend. The Jovan comparison is dead on, and I enjoyed that perfume quite a bit when I was much younger.

I think this will probably mellow even more with age, it almost seems a bit 'sharp', but I still like it. I really have to try and hunt down a bottle I guess... :wub2:

Close to this skin this is a tad sharp/bitter, but the throw is the most beautiful musk, soft and sexy.

I went through a phase where all I wore was retail musks, and this reminds me of something I really liked.

I cant wear musks anymore, because I'm just burnt out on them, but this is different. There are other notes I cant quite pin down, they play peek-a-boo from my nose!

bpal blends are getting more and more complex and beautiful!

At first it's a double hit of musk... on the one hand kind of foresty smelling, on the other soapy green. As it dries to heads on over fully into the soapy musk territory. The white/pale/green musks do not work with my chemistry, and this is no exception.

Musk musk musk! This definitely has black musk, and I wanna say green musk as well. However, I also think it had vanilla musk in it, but now I'm wondering if this isn't amber I'm smelling - in any case, it adds a sweetness to the musk. There's also a very faint trace of jasmine in there.

On me, it toggles between the sweaty black musk and the sweeter amber/vanilla musk. If it ended up in the vanilla musk all the time, I think I would quite enjoy this blend.

I was expecting something a little more smoky and musky based on the reviews. But I'm starting to think that maybe my skin eats a good portion of musks and dampens them somewhat, since this one is really hard to sniff on my skin, even if I put unscented lotion on first. But the smell I do get is really nice: sort of a soft greeny musk, but very gentle and almost ethereal which is not a property I'd usually attribute to any musks. It's nice, but I wish it had a bit more throw to it.

Wet: Creature Feature is a bright musk when I first apply. I'm terrible at picking out notes but this is mostly

fresh musk on me.

Dry: This softens nicely into a comforting skin scent. I kept getting random whiffs of it all day and it would put

a smile on my face. It's a happy scent for me. :hippie:

I may need a back up.

In the bottle, this is a creamy, clean, sweet sort of musk. It reminds me a bit of Buck Moon & Ivanushka's soft, sweet, cool musks.

On my skin, this smells rather similar to Invanushka on me. I wouldn't say that this smells green or like green musk on me at all. It's a little bit powdery. Cool, sweet powder.

Creamy, sweet musk that's a bit powdery (reminds me a little of chalk dust, for some reason).

I'm not sure how I feel about Creature Feature. It's a simple, pleasant enough smell on me, but I just can't tell if I really like it or not :/

Sweet, dusty musk with a creamy undertone. Light at first, but once I started exercising I started getting crazy amounts of throw when I started getting warm <img src="http://www.bpal.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="icon_smile.gif" /> Doesn't have the extra zing that makes me love Giant Vulva so much, but I'll treasure my decant because I bet this stuff will be fantastic aged!

ETA: Kack! Kack! Kack! Wooooooah this did not age in my favor :( Powder city and strong as an ox..an ox covered in powder.

In the bottle: Light, smooth, *clean* musk.

On wet: Soooo soft! Sweet, almost soapy, incredibly faint.

Drydown: Sweet, clean powder - instantly evokes a "vintage" feel - like I'd find a bottle of this on a movie star's dressing table back in the 50's. Definitely getting an amber vibe now, too, which I'm not 100% crazy about (amber and I do not click, unfortunately).

Overall: I was really enjoying the soft, almost candy-like muskiness of the wet stage, but the drydown didn't quite work with my skin chemistry. We'll see what happens as it ages. Currently, it's a 3/5 for me. :)
