With a cinnamon and maple glaze. This is so much lighter than I thought it would be! Pumpkin Donut HG has a fresh pumpkin note that smells like it's just been scooped out—it's nearly floral. The baked good aspect of this is very subtle. The cinnamon and maple are in fact more perceptible to me than the donut angle. That said, it does smell like dessert, it's just not a heavy scent. The sillage smells more like pumpkin donut than it does during application/wet, so interesting. I like this, and it's even more wearable than I thought it would be (sometimes the foody scents are too much for me to wear to work).

Lily of the valley, osmanthus, white oakmoss, silvered orchid and ambergris accord. The White Window HG does smell white, like a white flower extravaganza. Lily of the valley (one of my fave notes), plus osmanthus and orchid—supported by ambergris and oakmoss. If you love white florals, don't miss this! It's really elegant.

Lily of the valley, cedarwood, chamomile, vanilla orchid, white sandalwood, and polished oak. I love lily of the valley so was super excited for this atmo. And lily of the valley is definitely the star here. The cedarwood, sandalwood, and oak cut the sweetness of the floral and give this a woody base. The chamomile and vanilla orchid give it a slightly herbal edge/additional floral that skews a bit waxy and spicy. Super pretty!

Shavings of white pumpkin rind and honey powder. I tried this at NYCC and I will never forget it. Sweet pumpkin with a sprinkle of honey dust on it. True to form.

We’re running out of room at the Lab, and it’s been a long, long time since we’ve had a trunk show. When Brian and I were rifling through the prototype and snafu shelves a few weeks ago, we dug up two busticated Snake Oils – one that was a mispour of Lemon Scented Sticky Bat, and another involved an Aggravated Vanilla Incident – and we unearthed the very first Samhain prototype from 2002. We don’t have time to do a full-blown trunk show right now, so we’re offering these three for sale. They’re in very, very limited quantity. Fastest delivery ever! I snatched two of these the minute I saw the link up. I got them today and immediately tested fully. I am really scratching my head though. I don't know if my sniffer is off but I am not smelling the vanilla/cream soda like I had hoped. This is a sharper snake oil to me without the powdery, almost too sweet/cloying dry down I can get if I put too much on. Maybe there's some added carbonation dryness in this to make one think of soda pop, but this was not at all what I was expecting and shame on me because I should have known the lab would never make something that smelled so simple/one note (unless released as one of course!) For a minute I even wondered if I got the lemon sticky bat snake oil instead by mistake due to the sharpness/almost medicinal scent, so I tested my 2nd bottle and it still smelled the same on me. The odd thing is, if you just sniff the oil in the bottle, you def. can smell sweet vanilla/cream soda-ish oil! On I get snake oil, dryer, with a bit of a sassafras note and more stable, consistent dry down. I prefer new Snake oil to aged snake oil so I will probably keep using this and possibly swap the 2nd bottle to someone who maybe didn't have a chance to snatch this up and wants to have one. I can't wait for more reviews!

Dead Leaves, Ceylon Cinnamon, and Cocoa Atmosphere Spray

[No additional description provided.] I don't think I've ever been first before, but this atmo is so perfect for the fall season, I wanted to give it some love here. On first spritzing, this starts out mostly cinnamon, not too sharp or overpowering, just nice warm spice. The cocoa comes out quickly, not a chocolate-heavy scent, but dry cocoa powder in the background. As it dries, the dead leaves make their appearance, but stay behind the cinnamon with the cocoa, filling out the scent with a warm, soft woodsiness. This is perfect for evoking crisp autumn days, having a cup of spiced cocoa after a walk through the woods, fallen leaves still stuck to your sweater. -
Every leaf tells a story. Cognac, iris, hint of leather and dead leaves. For me, iris always ends up powdery, so I get cognac powder and dead leaves with a hint of leather. Medium throw and wear length.

Every leaf tells a story. This one i s mainly a sage and chaparral blend with a whiff of oakmoss and dead leaves. The dead leaves is more present on wet, but dries down to a sage/chaparral blend. Medium throw and wear length.

Puffy clouds of pumpkin candyfloss with a trickle of blackberry juice. So, I love the perfume... and had to try this! Sniffing in the bottle, I get a slight whiff of the blackberry... and then... something....grainy. Grainy blackberry juice. Hmm... Of course, I only have used aged BPF perfume, as I wasn't around when it was first released, but the HG smells different to me. In my hair, it stays the same. Very light, not a lot of throw and no pumpkin candy floss. Kind of disappointed. Maybe I will sit on it a while and see if it changes. Edit to add... well, after a while, I get no blackberry juice or any pumpkin candy floss. Just this odd, light, grain smell in my hair!

Pumpkin candyfloss, funnel cake, apple cider, a swirl of dead, dry maple leaves, greasepaint, chewing tobacco, and sawdust. I had the good fortune to test this one at Will Call. I liked it best of all the foody/gourmand Weenie atmos except Pumpkin Popcorn Balls (my other favorite). Halloween Carnival Atmosphere Spray throws together all of the best carnival smells - salty kettlecorn! spun sugar! sweet funnel cakes! fresh sawdust! autumn air! - without the overlay of animal dung, diesel fumes, and overworked porta-potty that invariably accompany a *real* carnival. It's a glorious cacaphony that hangs in the air like a handful of glittering sawdust before gently subsiding to the memory of funnel cakes.

I'm trying reeeeaallly hard to like this one, but feel it's a huge miss from my 2018 weenie order. I guess orris hates me. Usually BPAL's leather, cherry and orange notes work well for me, which is why I liked the idea of this one, but at the moment, all I get is SOAP. Very cheap hotel soap. In the bottle I get the faintest whiff of cherry over it, but on my skin it's obliterated. I've had my weenies a few weeks and already the other ones have shown signs of settling and developing into lovely scents, but this one hasn't changed for the better...yet. I'll put it aside for a few months. Unfortunately, it has immense staying power, so washing it off is tough

Like bats at noontide rafter-hung. Robert Graves Sheets of white musk and lavender curling around a melancholy song of violet root, iris, neroli, and honeysuckle. This is a fresh and unsettled bottle from my Halloweenies order, so take this all with a grain of salt. In the Bottle: It smells powdery and sweet in a way that feels reminiscent to a frimp I tried of Jailbait. Maybe the musk and honeysuckle? I think I also smell elements of the violet root and lavender, but Ill admit Im not the best at picking out notes. Wet on Skin: Im not sure how to describe this. The smell sort of reminds me of ozone. Its a clean, borderline soapy smell. Theres a very light, sort of citrus scent that I think is the neroli. Later: Im smelling more of the floral stuff again. Definitely the honeysuckle so far, though not nearly as strong as the Single Note Wild Honeysuckle. I think I still smell the neroli and maybe some lavender. I assume the earthiness Im beginning to pick up is the violet root. Im not sure what iris smells like, to be honest. Id say this scent fits the melancholy mood it should have. It smells like a very clean, slightly sweet ghost to me. Im not sure how to feel about it otherwise. Its not a bad Halloweenie, though Im not certain that its one that speaks to me all that much. If youre looking for a more subtle and feminine spoopy scent, this could be worth a shot.

[No additional description provided.] The scent notes: Dead leaves and Limoncello This is Gorgeous..... Perfect classic dead leaves, and juicy lemony citrus. These two things go together so beautifully. There's a bit of sweet sugar .....a hint of creaminess.... almost, sugar milk? This is not lemon pledge, this isn't lemon candy, I don't get any booze note ..... this is it's own lovely fresh, Autumn citrus breeze, thing. This hits all of my favorite note happy places..... I'm wearing it right along with my couch. I may have to get another bottle of this because I want to bathe in it....

Lighting the path between worlds, the beacon at the threshold: night-blooming jasmine, smoldering maple leaves, a cluster of patchouli and blackened ti leaf, black sage, and pinewood smoke. So, so strong and not really a morpher! At first this smelled to me less like late night cold bonfire and more like a WARM bonfire. Something in the smell reminded me of charcoal grilling in summer. Im not sure it was the vibe I was expecting from this. Nonetheless though its a cool, evocative scent! A heavy application actually almost gave me a headache. Lighter application was way better and smelled softer! But then... it lost some lasting power. Bummer. I think Im going to give this more time to grow on me. It might ended up neglected in favor of another smoky scent like bonfire toffee or scorched marshmallows, or it could end up a favorite.

Pieter Boel Sweet labdanum with clove, tobacco absolute, and guiac wood. Y'all...this is so, so good. It smells strongly of the crumbly amber resin that you can find in the incense section of witchy stores, but spicier. If you love In Templum Dei, you will probably like this one as well. I tested it last night, and wore it to work today, and couldn't stop sniffing my wrists.

Tassili NAjjer, 4000-1500BC Tonka bean, red clay, rose tobacco, and oudh. In the Bottle: Rosy tobacco and dust On the Skin: Definitely a dusty clay note, which I love, tobacco with a subtle rosiness and a little woody oudh in the background. On the Drydown: Seems like there might be a bit of whiskey in this. Overall reminds me of a cross between The Writing on the Slate and Flickering Lantern. It has low throw but is tenacious on the skin. Pretty - softly dusty rose tobacco

Cornelis Saftleven Dust, dry incense, parchment, and tobacco leaf. In the Bottle: Incense with a sepia edge. On the Skin: Blooms immediately on the skin and is so beautiful. Incense but with a lovely clay dust note and parchment mustiness. Overall it's dry but also full of depth, preventing it from being one dimensional. On the Drydown: It's the tobacco leaf that ends up adding some sweetness to the blend in the end. Ends up like the memory of incense infused in fabric, like curtains. I like the mustiness but then I love The Center from American Gods

Pumpkin marshmallows smushed into brown sugar-dusted graham crackers with melted chocolate and a hint of campfire smoke. I once had this in atmo form, and I have about one-third of a bottle of the bath oil remaining, so I had to get this, as I have been a fan of this scent in all of its forms! (Plus, I have been kicking myself for not grabbing a bottle of Wednesday Hair Gloss.) In the bottle, the melted milk chocolate and marshmallow notes stand out to me the most. In my hair, I get a lot of the melted chocolate first (it really does smell melty!). The graham cracker note ends up coming out after a bit, and the marshmallow is pretty light. It starts to become more smore-like after the chocolate calms down. This is not a strong hair gloss (when applied to damp or dry hair). It was a cool, breezy day here, and I did not catch a whiff of this hair gloss while running errands at all today (alas!). By the end of the day, if I hold my hair up to my nose and inhale deeply, I can smell the graham cracker, a light marshmallow note. There is a hint of smoke in this one (which I did not really get from the atmo and bath oil), but it's really just a hint. Its interesting how scents can differ in various formats. I feel like the atmo was strong on the graham cracker and pumpkin spice, the bath oil is strong on the pumpkin marshmallow, and this has a lot more chocolate than either of those formats (at least at first), and isnt nearly as pumpkin-y as either of them. I like it, but honestly, I would be content with just a decant. I dont love this like I love the bath oil.

Mounds of graveyard dirt, drooping Spanish moss, oak bark, discarded memorial roses, and a forgotten candy wrapper. I sprayed this around my apartment, and when I did, I got the sweet residue from the candy wrapper (it made me think of a milk chocolate candy bar), dirt, and moss. I sprayed it in the evening, and when I came back at night, the scent was still noticeable even though it had been sprayed several hours beforehand, but I mostly picked up on the moss and dirt. The boy keeps saying that this one smells like a pond. I also tested this on a paper towel, because I didnt really want to spray this on any of my blankets. Again, theres the sweetness from the candy wrapper with lots of dirt and moss, and after a while, I could smell the rose as well. The next day, the scent that remains on that paper towel is lots of rose, a caramel-like sweetness (I originally thought of Milky Way candy bars when I first thought of a fun size chocolate bar, so maybe it could be that? I could be wrong about the kind of candy, but theres definitely some sweetness to this scent), lots of moss, and a smattering of dirt. I am a fan of the Labs dirt note and had to pick this one up since no dirt scents have prevailed in the lunacy polls. This did not disappoint! And the candy wrapper element, with its candy residue, does add more of a Halloween feel to the scent, so it is not really somber like Deep in Earth and Zombi. I am so happy to have a bottle of this.

It was in the eastern or blue chamber in which stood the Prince Prospero as he uttered these words. They rang throughout the seven rooms loudly and clearly for the prince was a bold and robust man, and the music had become hushed at the waving of his hand. It was in the blue room where stood the prince, with a group of pale courtiers by his side. At first, as he spoke, there was a slight rushing movement of this group in the direction of the intruder, who at the moment was also near at hand, and now, with deliberate and stately step, made closer approach to the speaker. A sycophants polished stench: green musk fougere, lime, and rose-tufted wig powder. Bottle fresh from the Lab. In the bottle: A cool fragrance somewhat reminiscent of a men's cologne, as I had expected from the list of notes. But hopefully not too much. No particular thing jumps out at me. I check the list and still don't pick out any of the notes. Maybe a bit of lime, but even that isn't definite. Maybe some lavender in the fougere? This is a well-blended perfume that really just smells like itself, not like specific ingredients. It figures that when I get a first review, it would turn out to be a scent that is difficult to describe! On me, wet: Just like in the bottle, but cooler and sharper. Then a single lovely whiff of floral that is too quickly gone to identify it as rose. At 5 minutes: The hint of floral is back, faint but there. It seems to have settled in to stay for a while this time. It still doesn't smell like rose, but is nice anyway. The lime and lavender notes are also tentative but pleasant. There is a sense of greenness, but I have no idea what green musk smells like, so can't tell if I am smelling that. At 10 minutes: The overall scent is light, bright, and cool, very refreshing. Rather sparkly, even. Perfect for the warm day that we are expecting here today. It doesn't smell like a traditional men's cologne at all, yay! At 20 minutes: It is getting even prettier. A bit more floral-ish and feminine, but not strongly so. Is that the musk starting to gain notice? The cool sharp edge has faded away, making it softer (in character, not in strength) and slightly warmer. Strength and throw are both light, but stable so far. At 30 minutes: At first sniff, I notice that the sparkle is still there, although the sharpness is gone. The close-in scent is beginning to lighten. At 45 minutes: This is a consistent perfume, not a morpher. The differences I mention are subtle, not distinct comings and goings of different notes. It still smells much the same as in the bottle, but without the sharpness. There is still a cool vibe. It is now becoming powdery, as musk does, in such a lovely way. It's a green powder. Well, that makes sense. At 1 hour: Soft, light, gentle. Musky, greenish, mildly floral powder. At 2 hours: Considerably faded. Otherwise, same as above. Still cool, which is unusual this late in drydown. That's probably what is making me think it is just a little men's-cologne-ish again. After wearing so many different BPAL oils for so many years, I have kind of lost my sense of "masculine" and "feminine" in perfumes, unless they are at either extreme end of the spectrum. I suppose that's a good thing, but it makes it hard to describe them for others! At 3 hours: Faint men's-cologne. No trace of powder remains. At 4 hours: Very faint plastic. No problem, it's time to reapply anyway. Prominent notes: None that stand out Character: Light, cool, blended. Fairly unisex. I agree with the description of it as "polished." 4 out of 6 stars: Not particularly exciting, but quite pleasant and pretty

Christoffel Pierson Polished mahogany, copal resin, Java sandalwood, teakwood, and Sumatran patchouli. Mmmmmmm... This might be the one... The one I've been searching for. Do not let the name fool you, this is the scent of a grown man. Smooth, dark, devastatingly beautiful. High Lord of the Night Court? This is his skin. I love me a gloriously androgynous perfume, and this one is dangerous. A slinky pool of darkest silk on inky polished floors. Well blended, with that silky smooth patch leading, or is it the deep polished woods giving the patchouli such a dark silky gleam? I couldn't say. But it's good. The throw is pretty small on me, but that makes it all the more devilish. A scent to make my hetero fiance question why the 'masculine' scent he's huffing on my wrist is pulling him closer for more. A scent to cause confusion from every straight girl within arms length, "I smell hot guy."... ITS ME, but I am no man. A unisex power scent for all the Darklings.

But after letting it settle a few and spraying it in my hair, I'm in love. Pumpkin spice of course, but subdued by what I think is a pine/spruce note, gingerbread and champaca. Heady and perfect for the season! Crazy how random mashings of notes can turn out so gorgeous. I would never have purchased a scent with all those note together, but would be missing out by not! Definitely going to "spin again" and order another!

A rustle of dry leaves buffet against a dusky sheer musk, gently embraced by a thin shawl of vetiver, myrrh, and white grapefruit. Oktobernacht is similar to my beloved Dead Leaves and Desolation. The grapefruit definitely lifts this up to another level. Its white not red so it isnt sweet. Not too much smoke from the vetiver. Quite powdery in the Musk department. Old timey. The Hair gloss version of the cocktail, The Derby.

Blackberry incense, indigo musk, wild grape, polished mahogany, and blackberry wine. Whoa MUSK. There is a definite purpleness and a bit of incense. Not much wine or fruit. I was hoping this would be a good substitute for our beloved Witches Hut. It is lovely but youll really need to love Musk.
