Tetramorph v2

Recommended Posts

Unreleased scent, no description given.

In the bottle I get a sweet incense like vanilla.Upon application,It goes on a blend of sandalwood and something incense like.It still has the sweetness but it is very subtle and is in the background.I also get a a soft warm like musk feeling from it...not a heavy or dark musk...just warm and slightly sweet...after a period of time I also get a beeswax candle note with a smoldering flame...that sweetness is so lovely and perfect with the other notes...it is like a sweet brown vanilla incense note. This one is very well blended.

A tetramorph is a symbolic arrangement of four differing elements. The term is derived from the Greek tetra, meaning four, and morph, shape.

So I'm trying to smell for four different things but not coming up with them!

Beeswax and possibly a little of a woody note. I mistook it for sweet incense at first.

True to its name, this blend morphs quite a bit and changes as it dries down.

Initially it smells kind of sweet and resinous -- a little bit like O with incense added. Then, it makes a sudden and dramatic shift and smells ... I don't know how to describe it, other than it smells kind of like a cross between Numb and Black Opal. Sort of a white, fuzzy, solid, musky vanilla type scent. It stays this way for a while, then BOOM! It's all roses. Roses! Thankfully, that phase only lasted a half hour and now (three hours later) it's shifted back to a sweet, honey-like, soft skin scent, reminding me a bit of Coyote. Not powdery, but a little creamy.

It's fun to wear and to experience all the morphing. I'd recommend this to people who like O, Numb, Antique Lace, Black Opal, Coytoe, or white musk and honey notes.

Hmmm. This definitely has beeswax in it - as it got a slightly waxy feel to the honey and it isn't quite as aggressive as honey is on my skin. It's definitely got vanilla and a light musk to it. Slightly incensey. On the drydown, I definitely get the vanilla + beeswax making sweet, sweet, sweet SWEET love to each other. Slightly creamy and not at all powdery.

If you can hack beeswax/honey, I would definitely give this a whirl. From what I can recall of O, it's less sexually aggressive and more sensual. More of the come hither, as opposed to the ravishing kind.

Tetramorph kept surprising me. My rambly notes are as follows:

Beeswax + warmth; but foody; but clean. The waxy impression fades and the soapy-clean — not floral! — takes over some. Something tickles my nose, and something is sweet but not like honey. There's a sort of golden-amber L'Estate vibe; could some kind of herbal note cause the soapiness?

... yeah, that was rambling. ;) By the time I got to work, the warmsweet honey-like nature of the scent made me want to wash it off, but hours later, what remained smelled warm and spicy and quite nice, though still not quite my style. (I hate it when I try to wash things off and THEN they smell good! Because of course that half-gone smell cannot be faked...)

This one was hard for me to track. At first I got a sweetness.....almost a baby powder type which makes me think of amber. But then later I get this floral note that does not work on me...Lilac maybe? After that dies down and it is totally dried down I get the faintest hint of beeswax.

What zankoku_zen said, exactly.

I would be interested in having an imp of this, but I won't go mad trying to track a bottle down.

Many thanks to the lovely cheshirecat :wub2: for sending me this tester.

ETA: I had to scrub it off with alcohol, as I started getting a headache.

This was was a bit hard to pin down. In the bottle, it's very smooth and seems to have vanilla as a major note, but when applied the vanilla didn't hang around very long. This blend (true to its name) morphed quickly and widely: vanilla to honey to slight floral with honey to slight resin with honey, and then back to the start with vanilla + honey... a deeper, more nuanced vanilla. I don't like vanilla, but I like this blend. It's almost like Schwarzer Mond and O had a one-night stand, and this is the result: a daytime little one, shy but sweet, with a depth that's worth exploring. I'll bet this one grows up to be dynamite, and I'm looking forward to finding out for myself.

ETA: the icon I made to illustrate this blend is a "Warhol-ed" photo of my Westie, Charlie.

Sniffed: Pale yellow oil. Sweet honeyed wax. A little floral and woody, too - it's very complex, and evokes humidity and warmth for me.

Wet: More sweet and woody - sandalwood, maybe both red and white? Beeswax for sure, but definitely amber, and I swear I get some Sunflower.

Dry: It dries down beautifully, the way many honey/beeswax scents do, but it does go a tad powdery.

I swapped for this one even though I was at the 2nd Cobwebs - it wasn't one that jumped out at me from the testers and from sniffing the bottle I remember why! It's very dry, a tad sweet, and a lot dusty. It reminds me of a bottled up parchment note complete with a bit of a beeswax candle drippings from some occult book. When it goes on my skin the sweetness vanishes and I get the same dusty tomes note I pick up from Misk U, and unfortunately that is exactly why Misk U and I don't get along much. It's beautifully blended, invokes strong imagery, but over all too dusty/dry/waxy for me. Not sweet enough for this crazed confectionary lover ;)

Thanks once again to the marvelous edenssixthday for sharing a testable sniffie with me so I could experience this prototype for myself.

Upon application, this immediately goes to sweet baby powder on my skin. It actually smells a lot like Stinky on my skin. I like it, but as I said, the released blend of Stinky smells close enough to this that I don't feel the need to try to track down a bottle. :)

It's fascinating reading all the different scent comparisons in this thread! To me, Tetramorph smelled exactly like Lyonesse plus cream. It didn't morph much with time, but I can't complain about that because hey, creamy Lyonesse! This is the first proto I've tested where I'm really hoping for a release, preferably this week.

I thought that I would love this scent (vanilla, beeswax, and incense = sign me up), but something in this turns to heavy baby powder on my skin (sandalwood? amber? actual baby powder note?). It's like baby powder lightly scented with sweet honey. I agree with the comparison to Stinky...

I received this decant from the generous lucyboo21.

At first, I can't tell what I'm smelling other than "sweet". It doesn't smell a lot like honey but I do get some beeswax and a faint creamy apricot or peach blossom note. As it dries I smell something like sandalwood in the background but it's fleeting. It's a very feminine, pretty and light scent without being floral. It's one of those skin scents like Velvet Nudie and Giant Vulva that I love in the hot months.

This is very sweet, almost honeyed baby powder on me. There is definitely a floral note there that is 'behind' the powder, jasmine perhaps? And a slight bit of wood or sandalwood. Very dry as well as sweet and powder-ish. Clean, too.

ETA: Now that I have my own bottle, I can tell you that the floral note in here reminds me of night-blooming jasmine. There may be rose in this but it's way, way in the background. So much so you can't really tell it's there...so maybe it isn't. :) This is a heady, tropical fuzzy floral note. Maybe ylang? Anyway, beautiful!

On the skin: Honey and vanilla cream? Wow, this scent is turning quite sweet! I think there might be a hint of some sort of fruity floral as well. Peach blossom or something?

Very interesting, but sadly I don't think this one is for me. The honey sweetness is a bit too much for me!

-ETA-

Definitely beeswax. Creamy beeswax. With some amber maybe? And possibly a hint of pomegranate? This one sticks fairly close to the skin.

Not for me.

Origin:

5mL bought on Etsy.

Preconceived notions:

I've been on the fence about trying this one and passed it up when I made my ginormous Etsy order, but grabbed it after all when I saw that there was only one bottle left. I love incense, amber and wood, but I'm iffy on the Lab's beeswax note and I don't like florals (especially rose) or baby powder. So this one is a real gamble.

First sniff:

Beeswax. The Lab's beeswax note always smells strangely creamy to me, with a touch of something that makes me just a tiny bit queasy and this is no exception. It has a scent that's similar to The Light of Men's Lives, but there's something else lurking in the background. I just can't figure out what it is yet.

Wet on skin:

Uh-oh. I smell rose. Granted, it's the scent of an unopened rosebud, complete with a touch of green stem (very much like Rose Red, which is about as close to being wearable as a rose scent can get for me), but it's still rose. I hate rose. It's second only to almond on my list of most hated scent notes. This isn't looking good.

Honestly, it's a pretty scent. It really is. I can recognize a scent that other people would find beautiful and this is one of them. It's just not something that I enjoy and want to smell like.

Dry down:

It takes quite a while (a few hours, probably; I lost track of time, but I'm guessing it's been about 2-3 hours), but finally Tetramorph v2 dries down into something that's pretty and appealing to me. Somewhere along the line, a pretty, golden resinous note comes out. Amber, with maybe a touch of something else...myrrh, maybe? And there's still a hint of sweetness here. There might be some vanilla in addition to the beeswax. It reminds me a bit of Jacob's Ladder at this point.

The bottom line:

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about Tetramorph just yet. I think it's probably going to end up being one of those scents that I rarely (if ever) wear because I don't like the wet stage and don't have the patience to wait it out. The late drydown is nice, but it's not unique enough on me to make it worth waiting hours for.

I may see if my mom likes it before I decide to move it on to a new home. It seems like it might be more her style since she's a rose lover and enjoys soft, non-foody sweet scents.
