BPAL Madness!

Recommended Posts

A tribute to the squeaky plastic rats that haunt every Halloween bin — adorable little horrors with gleaming eyes and crooked tails. Shiny black licorice, grey amber, and a dusting of smoky black pepper.

Tested at Dragoncon. You MUST enjoy licorice, anise, fennel, and related notes, because this is a blast of true black licorice, not the plasticky twizzler stuff. It's an interesting balance once the pepper comes out to play, especially with the innate vegetal sweetness of licorice.

I don't think I get the amber, but the overall blend is rounder and richer than it should be with the other two notes, so I think this is another of those unique blends that everyone should test. Assuming you don't hate licorice. If you do, you'll be sad - or converted?!

It's definitely not a cologne, but this is a candy that drags masculine if you need that in your repertoire. I think it would be a great clubbing scent, especially around Halloween.

As a lifelong hater of black licorice, this just simply couldn't be my jam. But I needed to try it on for science! And to see if I could be convinced otherwise.

And here's the thing... I am being convinced otherwise. The licorice gets top billing, but the grey amber is actually the star of the show. She ties the licorice and black pepper together beautifully. An herbal-y, peppery amber.

I don't know why, but it reminds me of Margot Tenenbaum.

I definitely smell black licorice, and the black pepper is not at all as strong as I feared it'd be, it kind of tames the black licorice's sweetness and adds just the tiniest kick to it. I don't know what grey amber is supposed to smell like to be honest. But this scent does smell GRAY somehow.. smells like what grey licorice would smell like if that was a thing? Or you know what... I think it's reminding me of the black pepper flavored jellybean that my friends had me try, from one of those "beanboozled" jelly belly packs lol.

I had my dad sniff my arm and asked him what it smelled like and he said black licorice really fast! So it's very identifiable as a black licorice scent.

This is wacky and fun, and I honestly think it's a perfect interpretation of a plastic rat!
