    SwitchWitch Spring 2016 Q&A!

Do you like colouring? Yes, but I don't really do it very often. I've got a mandala coloring book and a pack of colored pencils, so I'm probably set. If you like Lush, are there any UK-only things you're desperate to get? I'm not sure what's UK-only, but I loooooove Lush. I'm a fiend for the Charity Pot fragrance and most of the bath bombs, bath melts, ets. Crochet goodies yes or no? If yes, what kind of goodies? Absolutely yes! I'm down for anything, especially bags. Do you have any allergies to animals/smoke/food etc? Nope. Graphic novels: I'm not really familiar with any in particular. Nail Polish? I have an enormous collection back home in NC. None here in CT. Crafty? Very. Mostly all about the painting right now; I do also like free-hand embroidery. BPTP Products? I have not tried any. Nail Wraps? No thank you. They don't seem to work with my fingernail shape, really. Teas/Spices/Spice Rubs/Specialty Ingredients from a local tea & spice shop? Yes. 100% yes. Especially if there's a good ginger tea. I'm digging ginger teas lately. In Regards to loose/bagged tea: I have means of doing loose tea, though I would actually really love to get more of those cheesecloth sachet bag things. I'm almost out of my disposable teabags. Would you be interested in any handmade critters? Stuffed animals, knit or crochet beasties, or anything remotely similar? If so, please give an example or five: sure! I got a little crocheted goose a few years ago that I love dearly. Any bird-related critters are great. Others would be like...a seal. I like seals. Since this is the Spring Fools' round, is there anything that goes with the theme of April Fool's Day or spring that might be fun to add to your package? Flowers (seeds, real, or handmade) prank-related items, a court jester's cap? Feel free to be creative and crazy with this one! I love the idea of flowers. I've been obsessing over flower headbands and crowns lately. I want to swoosh and dance my way through spring. Pet owners - would you like any kind of toy or supply for your pet? I don't have any pets here. Geek paraphernalia! Almost everyone here has SOME sort of geek-love, whether it is Harry potter, Horror movies, graphic novels, science, etc. So would you be interested in any kind of items related to your geek-ish interests? Of course. Any yarn, plastic, metal, or fabric sensitivities? Pure wool seems to make me itch a bit. Wool blends are fine. would you like pretty stationery/note cards, etc, for writing snail mail? Oh yessssss. Pay no mind to my overflowing box of the stuff. A girl is allowed to collect, damn it. If you could have any BPALs right now (GC, LE, HTF) what would they be? Give examples of at least a few of each category: Titania, Alice, Snake Oil. I can't think of any LEs I'm really craving. HTF--Chaste Moon '05. Always Chaste Moon. Any places you would like gift cards from? Torrid, Ulta, Amazon, any magical/witchy stores would be great. Not necessary at all, mind you. Do you wear make-up? Any brands you like? Color preferences? I do! I am actually looking for new eyeshadow since a lot of mine...broke? Traveling is hard. I like a lot of shimmery stuff, mostly purples/bronzes/golds, but also greens. I don't wear a ton of blue because I can never seem to pull it off unless it's like a bold turquoise. No major brand loyalty except to certain Urban Decay products. Junk food and candy? Yes. Witchee, regarding your fave TV shows, would you be interested in the associated DVDs? Fan books? Ehhh...no thank you on DVDs and fan books. I just don't have a lot of room for them. Do you need any items for your kitchen (linens, gadgets, cooking supplies, etc.)? You know, I could do with some shot glasses and a good Nikki-flavored coffee mug. Preferably one that doesn't break easily. Gardens/plants: I am dreaming of spring, dear witch: Do you like plants? Do you have any? Indoor potted plants? A balcony bed? A yard? Do you want/need anything? Housemate and I spent like 4 hours discussing gardening plans the other night. We've got some boxes outside our cabin and are planning some guerrilla gardening elsewhere on our site. By all means, dear Witch. By all means. If I were to make you something based on one or more interests mentioned in your Q'aire/blog, would you prefer something you could wear, something that hangs on a wall, or something that sits on a shelf (or couch or wherever) ? I would need more information on what kind of interests you're targeting. Are you in need of BPAL storage? Kind of, but I don't actually have any of my BPAL with me right now. I had no room in my luggage. Hi, witchee! Do you like candles? Incense? Wax melts? Oh my Lord, yes. I generally don't burn candles in the house except on my altar, but I have this adorable owl tart warmer that the housemates also love and we always have a tart burning in that. Actually, we're currently really running low on tarty goodness, so if you see any you think I'd like, go for it! I just ask...please, nothing that smells like baked goods. I live with humans who will get grumpy if they're tricked by fakery scents. BAGS! Do you like/want/need any kind of bags? Purses (big, small, medium), storage type bags, totes, re-usable grocery bags, make up or craft supply bags . . . anything? And if so, please give as much info as possible about type, color, use, fabric, etc. You have no idea how much I love bags. I generally prefer cross-body style bags and tote bags, but look, bags are great no matter what species they are. As far as specifics...I like bright colors, funky patterns, generally prefer fabric over leather (I'm not opposed to leather, I'm just more attracted to funky, brightly-colored bags than like, respectable adult purses made from leather). My current purse is this deep eggplant purple cross-body hobo bag with an embroidered tree of life on it that I got at the Greater Good store in Minneapolis-St. Paul...Jesus, I sound like a goddamn hippie right now, don't I? (I am.) Here's a question. I make handmade journals/albums/smashbooks/junk journals. Would you be interested in anything like that? OMG YES PLEASE. I really love journalling about my work with kids and basically doing a hybrid between a scrapbook and a diary. I'd prefer a smaller book--I had a full 8x11 journal last season and it was uncomfortably large. Like those journals that are, what, 6x8? That's a perfect size. Oh man. If you like Harry Potter stuff, what house do you belong in? If you like Game of Thrones, what family? Ravenclaw, and according to the Buzzfeed post, I'm House Arryn, and Buzzfeed says "You’re out of your damn mind, but no one wants to be the one to tell you. Sorry." Was it because I chose "COME AT ME BRO" as my motto? Or was it the falcon? Look, I just like birds, okay? What's your favorite animal/totem? Would you be interested in a small figurine of said animal from this etsy user? I am a goose. And those figurines are truly beautiful. Anything exciting to you in PBSW's Spring Collection? Why, yes, yes it does. The Afternoons and Eiderdowns sounds lovely, as does April Fool, Crickhollow Cottage, Sky Blue Sky. Really, anything. I have no PBSW products these days. I used all my Sweetcheeks stuff and then forgot to buy more? Witchee, are you interested in this kind of music (it's one of my favorites)[Tartanic - uncivilized]? Um, YES. Oh dead Witchee, how do you feel about Sakura Matsuri? Do you like Green Tea and Sakura flavored desserts/treats? Decorations or jewelry with a cherry blossom theme? I think cherry blossoms are lovely. I also like green tea. Hey, witchee! If I were to send you a garment, what size would I send? Depends on the garment. What style of bag from here (if any) would you like? You can easily narrow down the choices on the side menu - but I only want to know the style, not the pattern! OH MY GOD I WANT ALL OF THEM a messenger bag or tote bag. But I'd also take smaller bags. I just. I love the artists there--I actually own the Fairytale Tarot, although it's currently MIA.

Paintbox Soapworks: Interested in anything from her? Yes! Check my Etsy wishlist. ThinkGeek: anything interesting to you on there? I have a wishlist. http://www.thinkgeek.com/brain/gimme.cgi?wid=81ede61e7 What's one thing you want, right now, that you're having difficulty finding? A JOB. Oh, you mean something specific. Not really. are there any e-tailers you're desperately wanting to try? if so, any specific items/scents/etc? Hmmm...not really. Lip balm - tube or tin? Either. Would you like to receive a journal or sketchbook? How about other pretty paper goods like post-its, notepads, bookmarks, letter paper/envelopes? Yes to all the above. I kind of hoard stationary. Are you interested in audiobooks? If so, any specific titles? Not especially. Ebooks, however... Bar soaps with some scrubby bits, yes or no? Yes. Do you need any small electronic gadgets like flash drives and the like? I could use a new flash drive, actually. Would you like a pair of knitted socks? YES. Do you have any use for knitted dishcloths, facecloths, etc, especially if they were fandom related? Yes! Do you subscribe to any sample boxes, and if so, which ones? Would you like to receive some samples? (perfume, eco/"green," skin care, hair, music downloads, cosmetics, soap...) I do not. I wouldn't mind. Soap would be nice. Do you have a problem with nudes? Male or Female? Nope. Either. I think the human body is fascinating. That's why I'm a biology major. People ask a lot of questions about dogs and cats, but I know a lot of forumites have rodent pets. How would you feel about hammocks or toys for your rats/hamsters/gerbils/etc.? I have no rodents. My Little Pony... Cute or meh? The older ones were better. My new job is at a consignment store where we have all kinds of designer brands for very reasonable prices. Are there designer clothes/purses/sunglasses that you desire/love? (Give some indication as to your "style" as well. For example, do you like bohemian-style frocks in lavender? Crossbody purses in black? Sunglasses that are round and bug-like?) Crossbody purses, yes. Bohemian style frocks...depends. No sunglasses. I tend to go for simpler cuts, but do have a weakness for swishy skirts. I'm very much a "classics" kind of girl. In the meantime, let me know what you like to do on the Internet to kill time. Flash games? What are your daily websites/blog visits, or favorite YouTube videos? I recently got back into Glitch. Favorite Youtube videos usually reflect a song I like but am too lazy/broke to download. The notable exception to this is the recently discovered "Black Death" info parody to the tune of "Hollaback Girl." And what are your favourite characters from your fandoms? Once Upon A Time is where it's at for me. Chaste Moon (2005? 2007? Whichever smells like buttery heaven) Are there any existing Weenies that you have your eye on, but haven't gotten around to getting? Ghost House, Third Charm. Probably won't be able to get them. I'm a broke witch. if you wear earrings, do you have pierced ears? Yes. You are meeting up with someone on a casual lunch/early afternoon thing. This person is someone you want to impress/look good for (for whatever reason, not necessarily romantic, and not necessarily for business either). What would you look like, given the contents of your wardrobe/etc? I'd wear my aqua sweater, gray cami, gray trousers, pearl necklace and earrings. You are to be let loose in a clothing store of your choice, to pick a full outfit, down to the shoes, the accessories, etc. and things would be altered to fit you if needed. What store would that be, and what would you look like? Lane Bryant. I'd probably be looking for a simple, well-fitting red sweater--in fact, there's a beautiful cable-knit sweater I like--, some good boot-cut jeans, and a black leather jacket. You open a box from the post office to reveal the 3 things you want most right now. What are they? (caveats: size doesn't matter, but they have to be tangible/buyable). A stack of canvases, a bag of "Glitter and Gold" tea from David's Tea, a skein of Charisma "Northern Lights"yarn. WHAT MAKES YOU LAUGH YOUR ASS OFF!!! movies, comedians, black humor, your partner, a comic strip? what? A special boy I know. He makes me laugh a lot. Some movies. Stand-up comedy--Dylan Moran and Robin Williams are my favorites. Several comics. Candy Corn? Sometimes. I live in Japan. Anything you would be interested in from there? Mmm...good green tea. If you have cats, do they like catnip toys? If you have doggies, would they like a super-reinforced canvas toy with a squeaker in it? I have no pets here. If you have kids, what are they into? I do not have any kidlets. How do you feel about wearable knitted lace? Shawls, wraps, and the like? Yes. It sounds lovely! Looking at the warehouse, I notice that our lovely Greenwoodtree is able to do chart readings and/or forecasts at a very reasonable rate. Is this something you would want? Yes. Even though I'm kind of an astrologer myself, I still love other people's interpretations of my chart. Do you have a forum buddy? Someone who knows you and/or your tastes well enough to answer questions on your behalf? Several. If you are on Livejournal, would you appreciate LJ stuff like paid time, custom userheads, stuff like that? If you are NOT on LJ but are on other sites that have similar paid-for services (Flickr, for example?) would you, and what are those sites/etc? ...Yes. I have an LJ. I have a paid account. if you are into tarot, what is your favorite card? Two of Cups. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cider, or none of the above? Yes. Gum, hard candy, soft candy, or none of the above? I am obsessed with anything minty. Loose tea or tea bags? Do you need anything for your loose tea? (Filters, presses, etc.) ANY. I would actually LOVE some plain muslin bags, they're my preferred thing for loose teas. Of course, I need more loose tea to be able to use them...sigh. My life, it is challenging. Do you do Goodreads or LibraryThing or a site like that? If so, can I see your to-read list, please? Yup! Just send me an email, dear witch. Are you a gamer (of any sort - video, casual, tabletop) and are there any games you want? I like to play Glitch online and Sims 3. As far as tabletop goes...ARKHAM HORROR. I want it desperately. Do you like coffee? If so, what kinds? Flavored, fancy, basic? Beans or ground? Any. Flavored is nice, but really, even plain with cream and sugar will do me up just fine. Beans or ground is fine. My roommate is obsessed with coffee so we have both a regular drip machine and a new espresso maker. Would a Starbucks gift card make you happy or do you prefer your local place? There is a Starbucks in the library here on campus. Starbucks IS my local place. Would you be interested in BPTP CANDY? This is a thing? CUSTOM-Made Pottery?? yea or nay? coffee mugs, rustic or more elegant? a set of bowls? soap dish? bird feeder? something alltogether different? and lastly, good colors for glazes...? Yes. Any. All. I love pottery. Looooove. Especially some pretty bowls or coffee mugs. Songs that you keep meaning to buy but never get round to it? The Jesus Christ Superstar soundtrack. The full soundtrack. Movies that you love but forgot to put in your questionaire? There's a bunch, but honestly, I was just too lazy to list them. Name one movie you keep meaning to buy, but just never get around to getting? The Painted Veil. I love that movie. Doctor Zhivago. Any favorite Bath & Body Works scents/products? Oh hell. It's been a while since I've been in a B&BW. But things that sound divine right now: Dreamy Vanilla Woods, Rice Flower Shew. Haus of Gloi is offering custom perfumes - would you like one? What would your ideal blend be? OMG. Some combination of: tonka, white oak, vanilla sugar, frankincense, beeswax and honey, white amber. Any Bath, Body or nutritional type items you would love to try from a Natural and Organic food store (similar to Whole Foods) that you don't buy because they are a bit too pricey? Any good moisturizers. Tell me of your taste preferences. Dry/sweet? Red/white? Lager/ale/porter/stout? Fruit? Spice? Hops? Sour (brettanomyces, etc)? Sweet. Blush or white. ANY, but especially lagers and ales. Look, I just like booze, okay. are there any if MeiLin's books (e-book or print) you'd be interested in? I am not familiar with her books. Surprise me, if you want! Ebook, please. I'm about to be near a Lush store next week, is there anything you might like from there? Hmmm...bath bombs. Loooove lush bath bombs. Witchee, will you be gone from your normal mailing address at any point during the round? Nope. Are you a Disney fan or does even thinking about Disney make your head hurt? If you're into Disney, would you like something from the Happiest Place on Earth? I like Disney! dear witchee, would you, could you use an electric candle warmer? i'm talking something like this. I have the most darling little teapot tart burner. I'm happy with it. Do you lust after some new socks/tights? Warm wool ones, yes. Ninjas or Pirates? Pirates. I have an extra room spray and 2 extra bath oils (one Cephalopod, one Exhibit Hall Fatigue) from Dragon*Con - would anybody like a decant? Sure. I live near a Mast General Store. It has lots of vintage-y toys, southern foods (jams, jellies, spices) and vintage candy. Is there anything I can get for you? My parents actually go to the Mast General every time they're in the area. But oh, it smells and tastes like home there. Yes, anything southern. As much as I love it here in the UP, sometimes I do get so, so homesick. Do you have any Fall or Halloween traditions? Not really? I would like to create some. I do love traditional things.

Ketchup? How about tobasco sauce? 1) Do you like s'mores and s'mores-flavored things? S'mores YES. I've done six years at sleepaway camp, I am a s'mores PRO. S'mores-flavored things...depends. 2) What's the neatest freebie you've gotten? It can be cool or thoughtful or just totally unexpected, and not limited to BPALdom. Hmmm...I would say the BPALista who frottled me a bottle of Agape. I'd never smelled it, I had no idea she was sending it to me, and it's ended up being one of my favorite blends. 3) Would you enjoy receiving cute but useful items like colorful kitchen utensils/gadgets, or bento supplies? (boxes, chopsticks, accessories, etc?) What about things like spice mixes (homemade, or Penzey's for example)? OMG YES YES YES YES YES PLEASE YES. I'm currently trying to actually have akitchen? My roommate has a lot of the stuff we need, but I want my very ownthings too: A set of paring knives. One large blue butcher knife. Two bamboo cutting boards. A set of two blue slotted spoons and one blue spatula. I also have one jar of cardamom that's mine. SEND HELP. Bonus points if any kitchen stuff is rooster-themed. All I ask is that if there are spices (omg yes please) that they be gluten-free. My roommate and I cook together a lot and I don't want to make her sick. 4) Do you like cute, seasonal or fluffy PJ bottoms? Like they sell at Target, Old Navy (they have had cute Halloween ones!) If so, what size do youwear? Yes. Yes I do. I usually wear an XXL. Fluffy or the really soft jersey cotton are my favorites. 5) What kind of chocolate do you like? Nuts, no nuts, white, dark, etc? Where is the "ANY" ticky box? 6) I live near a Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and Penzeys! What does your little heart desire from any or all of these places? Whole Foods: any sort of interesting teas, herbs, good bar soaps, good chocolate...okay, basically, anything. Trader Joe's: same idea. I tend to go nuts over the board at TJ's, but thatdoesn't ship all that well. Penzeys: I've never had any of their spices! But I am currently in the market for pretty much any spice. I especially love whole spices...my BFF just bought me a mortar and pestle, and I am dying to get all kitchen witch up in here. 7) Are home made foods acceptable or does the idea of eating strange mailed food disturb you? Starving college student here. I am not even remotely going to turn down homemade food. Except things with olives. 8) I just gave you $20 and sent you into a "has everything" store ala Walmart and told you that you have to come out having spent it all, and none of it on anything you need. What would you buy? Be as specific as possible! I would buy...the big pack of Sharpies because I LOVE Sharpies and I just can't bring myself to drop the money for the big pack. And probably a trashy romance novel. 9) What kind of cuisines do you like? (I mentioned this in my ?aire but curious what my witch may like) And, what are your favorite restaurants? I like everything. Last week I had: pad thai, tortilla soup, pizza and homemade mac and cheese for our dinners. Favorite restaurants? Chain-wise, On The Border, Macaroni Grill. Otherwise I generally like exploring smaller local restaurants. Portside Inn here in MQT is by far my favorite. 10) I'm from Canada - is there anything specifically a witchee might likethat is only available here? If someone happened to be near Toronto and HAPPENED to go to the HHoF and HAPPENED to find Carolina Hurricanes merchandise...I wouldn't turn it down. (I am a HUGE Canes fan) 11) What are your "fandoms" and would you like a t-shirt fromTeeFury if an appropriate one came up? Hmm...besides hockey? A Song of Ice and Fire (We named our fish Tully, for god's sake), Once Upon A Time, Labyrinth, Princess Bride...any classic eighties fantasy movies, really. I also really love nerdy science jokes, any sort of pretty artistic design. I'm not much on shock-value shirts, though. And yes! I love t-shirts! 12) Do you have an eReader and if so which one? I have a Nook simple touch. 13) Do you like candles, or tart burners, or something? If so, what's yourfavorite scent to burn? I have the most sickeningly precious teapot-shaped tart burner and I LOVEtarts. My FAVORITE tart is the lemon-lavender Yankee Candle one, but I like alot of different scents. Just not foody scents. 14) If you get me (or a fellow Aussie, if there are any playing this round)as a witch or witch's minion, would you like to try some Australianspecialties, such as TimTams (delicious chocolately cookies), Caramello Koalas (koala shaped chocolates filled with gloopy caramel), Australian native spices or anything like that? Absolutely! I've had Aussie snacks before and they've been great. 15) If your witch is a knitter, crocheter or sewer, is there a particulartype of garment you would love to receive (hat, scarf, wrap, cowl, socks, fingerless gloves, arm warmers etc)? The winters up here are vicious (don't getme wrong, I'm excited, but they're long and they're cooold.) 16) Is there anyone else in your house (kids, pets, partner) that wouldreally appreciate a small gift being included for them in the switchwitchy haulso they don't feel left out? I have a roommate! She would probably be thrilled. But you don't have to, weshare most of our things anyway. 17) Marzipan? Not sure if want. 18) Would you be interested in washable/reusable muslin "paper"towels (basically muslin squares hemmed around the edge)? Yes! That would be awesome. 19) Do you drink alcohol and if so, would you be OK with your witch sendingyou homemade infused vodka? Hell. Yes. Especially if it's something like peaches (ermahgerd!) or cherries(cherry vodka and Coke is one of my favorite too-lazy-to-get-fancy mixeddrinks) or blueberries or SKITTLES. I've heard about Skittle vodka and OMG. 20) How would you feel about a taste of (insert witch location here) box? Sure! Especially if you live someplace I want to visit or have been. 21) Since it's been mentioned several times, and I've also offered to nachowitch some, would you you like to receive wild rice and or maple syrup? Ipromise to include recipe ideas with the wild rice. Yes to both. That sounds really neat. 22) I have 5 bushels of tomatoes sitting in the kitchen right now that aresupposed to turn into red sauce tomorrow, so would anyone like a basic redsauce (spaghetti sauce) to make its way to them? Ooooh, sure. We are partial to any kind of red sauce in this household. 23) Would you be interested in having a bat adopted in your name? Dude, I love bats. That would be sweet. 24) If you could have an image or certain subject painted for you on anytype of "canvas" (on a box, on paper, on a canvas, and so on) - couldyou point your witch to some of these images? Freyja. Runic designs (I am especially partial to Dagaz, Gebo and Kenaz).Fairies. The North--the Great Lakes, coniferous trees, etc. Snow. The northernlights. Kitchen witchery. Or are you not big on polish? I like Zoya. 27) Stuffed things: yea or nay? Yay. Plush microbes and Build-A-Bear and handmade is where it's at for me. 28) Mix-in-a-jar? How to you feel about cookie or cake or soup mixes thatcome in jars and you just add, like, an egg or water or what have you? Yes, if they're gluten-free and MSG-free. 29) Are there any crafts/skills you've wanted to learn but haven't gottenaround to? And if so, would you be interested in supplies and tutorials? I would like to learn how to sew on a machine--I can sew by hand, but machines, not so much. And how to piece together a pattern and things like that. 30) Who here would be happy to get a lil' sumthin sumthin from Adagio Teas? ME. I love Adagio, I've been a customer for years. My supply is actually sadlydepleted right now, as in what tea I HAVE is back in North Carolina. I'm ahuuuge fan of their masala chai and oh my dear god they have a spiced applechai? WANT. Ahem. What was I saying? 31) Do you Ravelry? And if so, what's your handle over there? Would you beinterested in gift patterns from your queue? I...have an account but rarely log in. 32) I live near this very cool Retro store(retrodrygoods.com) (you can order online too) - are there things from it thatwould make you squee if your witch sent them? Love the sassy Anne Taintor stuff. 33) Who likes Pumpkin Spice Hershey Kisses? Never had 'em. 34) What does your kitchen look like? Colors/style? Apartment kitchen! Eggshell walls, lovely blonde cabinets, vaguely taupecounters. But my roommate and I are combatting the overall lack of personality with ROOSTERS. I have this fabulously tacky rooster sculpture and a beautiful metal rooster wall clock, and we're planning to make a rooster-shaped chalkboard, and there may one day be rooster paintings and rooster cannisters... 35) Witch, what are your favorite quotes? This is hard to answer. Generally if I have to provide a quote for something inspirational, it's this: "The heart may be tiny but the world's enormous. The world may be tiny but the heart's enormous." Which is a pair of couplets from Shu Ting's "Fairytales." 36) Put your iPod/MP3 player/what-have-you on random and list the first 10 songs it plays! "It's Mutated" - Contagion soundtrack. "Middledistancerunner" - Chicane feat. Adam Young "Let It Grow" - The Lorax soundtrack "Supergirl" - Kate Miller-Heidke "Brave Face" - Delta Goodrem "Mission" - Leahy "Besides" - Gui Boratto "Theresa Prelude" - Citizen Cope "Audrey" - Dave Brubeck "Momentum" - Vienna Teng 37) What's one random thingyou really like and one random thing you really dislike? Random Thing I Like: sunflower seeds, still in the shell. Random Thing I Dislike: the movie "My Best Friend's Wedding" (greatsoundtrack though!). 38) Are there any herbs thatyou haven't been able to lay hands on that I could send you? There's an herbalshop I really like here in NYC called Flower Power (flowerpower.net) that has quite a wide selection. WANT. Um, to be more specific, I have very few herbs, and I would LOVE some wholeherbs, especially since my BFF just got me a mortar and pestle (!!!). But if Ihad to list specifics--rose petals, rose water, cinnamon, cardamom seed, elderflowers and frankincense (not technically an herb, but I love the stuff). 39) If there are no"witchy" shops near you, is there anything I can pick up for you from Enchantments? I'm not sure? I don't really have a ton of witchy stuff--I don't really USE alot. My altar is kind of my windowsill right now, and it's mostly gotnatural-type things and bottles. But I love having herbs and they're somethingI use a lot. And candles. I like candles. 40) Hey Witchee! I want tosend you a delivery. It could be cupcakes from a local bakery, it could be asinging hugging bear-a-gram, it could be a bouquet of flowers. But it will besomething that you need to be there to receive. A) Are you OK with "special deliveries"? *waggleseyebrows* Is the address in your questionnaire the best place toreach you for said deliveries? C) If the deliveryrequires a phone number (as say, some florists do) would you be OK with thatinformation being tracked down by your Witch or asked of you anonymously? A) Sure. Not so much on the singing hugging bear-a-gram, but flowers, cupcakes?Yeah. Yes. C) Sure.
  4. September 30th Witchee, would you like anything from this particular Haunt update? I don't understand the point of Haunt, truth be told. All this fuss over products that only like five people are able to get. Who's interested in Halloween: Montreal? I'm indifferent. You get a package in the mail containing 3 things you have really wanted more than anything else you've mentioned so far in this thread. (they are all reasonably priced of course! ~$20 or less apiece). What are they? Hmmm. Some sort of carnelian jewelry--ring, bracelet, pendant, whatever. A ring would be especially nice. Some dyed silk ribbons. I don't know what the hell I'll do with them, but I saw some on Etsy once that I just LOVED. A girl can dream. A tin of snowbud white from Adagio. Siiigh. Love in a cup. how do you feel about hemp? jewelry, soap, etc? I like hemp. I do not like hemp when some idiot decides to store one of my giant balls of the stuff for the winter by wrapping the loose end in DUCT TAPE and then I have to cut off like 10 feet because it's covered in duct tape gunk and--ahem. Sorry. Flashbacks to unpacking inventory at camp. I like hemp jewelry, hemp soap, whatever. Good stuff. September 29th What kind of purse do you prefer? Leather, cloth? over the shoulder or crossbody, or something that can do either? Do you like bold bright prints with fun things, or monochrome, solid colours? Any material is fine. Crossbody is preferable. I gravitate to bright and bold, and there is not a single fuck given about whether it goes with my outfit. My current purse is an absolute beast. Have I already talked about this purse? It's purple and has llamas on it. julep maven monthly boxes: It sounds interesting. My style profile thingy says I'm "Boho Glam." Your favorite restaurant or type of food to eat out. Would you use a restaurant.com voucher? Groupon? Sushi and Italian, probably. Like commercial socks? I love socks so much. What kind of bear is best? A gummy bear! No, probably a polar bear. Is anyone interested in reading The Night Circus? It sounds interesting. Hershey's Pumpkin Spice kisses? I didn't know these were a thing. I'd totally try some. I have a not-so-secret love for The Broship of the Rings. Are there any prints from her store you'd like? I do not think I need any prints, but bwahahahaha this is funny! Who here likes Stephanie Pui-Min Law's artwork? Siiigh. Love! I seriously considered buying her tarot deck when I went shopping for the one I'm currently using. Do you drink wine? Yes. Yes I do. Is it just me who is nervous at revealing herself to her witchee, and finding out who her witch is?! I am a little nervous, I think. But I've been trying to be really good to my witchee. I'm not nervous about finding out who my Miss Witch is, though. Such awesomeness is not to be feared. Witches, did you lament NOT getting one of the condom case/imp cases that got released with the courtesan series??? There were condom cases? I recently saw candy corn in non-candy corn flavors like CHOCOLATE and CARAMEL APPLE. It's not a fancy brand, I just saw it in the drugstore, but who here would like something like that? I do not know how I feel about this. I would totally try some, though. September 28th JONES SODA CO has LE soda packs for The Guild, Buffy, D&D, So Cute, etc. Would you be interested in these, Witchee? I'm good, I think...wait, there's a soda pack for The Onion? AWESOME. It's Banned Books Week! Are there any books on the list you'd be interested in checking out? I've read quite a lot of them, truthfully. And there are several more that I haven't read but own and am working toward reading. I have just been enlightened to THESE. Are these flavors relevant to your interests? Clove Cigarette, Dead Sexy and Rose Citrus are all very relevant to my interests. Also relevant to my interests: the Honey Blossom, Sweet Cream and Candied Violette bonbon lip balms. So who else watched Babylon 5? Not me. If you had to decide what your stripper name was, what would it be? Hahaha. If I went by the formula mentioned in the thread it'd be Katie Carthage. I suppose I could use one of the names of the pets we had when I was born, but which one? Bat Carthage is the best, I suppose... Sooooo Witchees, have you ever taken that particular personality test? If so, are you an Analytical, a Driver, an Expressive or an Amiable? I took it once and got Analytical, took it again and got Expressive. I'm ruthlessly organized and precise and nitpicky about things in the work environment, but I'm also very good at fixing people's personal problems and stuff. This summer, my boss would often be like, "...Go fix this for me" and I'd go and sort out problems for her. Is anyone else afraid of or creepy out by dummies/puppets/Muppets/etc? Other things you're squicked/freaked by that's best left by the wayside? I am absolutely terrified by anything with more than eight legs. You know what I'm referring to. It had like fifty thousand legs and THEY CAN SWIM. what level of contact were you hoping for? I didn't really know what to expect. I wanted a witch who would contact me semi-regularly and just talk to me. I've got some things I'm dealing with right now that are kind of challenging, and getting the little ecards from my witch makes it easier to keep on trucking. I'm happy with my witch, though. Are there any local museums/attractions you keep never getting around to going to? I've never been to the NC Museum of Art. Or to Carowinds, for that matter. September 26th Is there any kind of international candy you love or would like to try? I had the most amazing candy from either Brazil or Colombia this summer--it was like these tiny little packages of super-silky caramel that one of the international staff brought. You bit off the corner and then could just suck the caramel out. Heavenly. I also adore Colombian coffee candies. What is something totally random (yes, that thing that just popped into your head) that hasn't been covered by any previous questions? I have fallen in love with Alexander Rybak. If you want to enlist an European nacho witch's help, Miss Witch, I would LOVE to receive him in my final gift. Not just his music--HIM. He's pretty. Make sure he comes with his violin, okay? Is there any cheesy/non-cheesy Canadian stuff you'd be interested in? There's a lot of Canadian stuff out there. I have no idea where to begin. If you were to go here and create your very own chocolate bar, what might it have in it? Milk chocolate with cinnamon, cardamom, sea salt and cayenne pepper. SO MUCH YAY. What's your favorite classic fairytale, witches? I answered this in thread! Because it was my question... September 24th how do you feel about ethical animal fiber, i.e. wool and the like? I do not have a problem with this. What about little wee creatures for your desk or mantel? There is not a thing about that sentence that doesn't fill me with squee. Look down. What are you wearing, right now? Well, I answered this in thread too, but that was then and this is now and I never have a problem babbling about myself. I am wearing a bright blue tank top with lace detailing at the neck, these really horrendous old sweatpants that were ALSO the victim of drive-by tie-dyeing, Agape and my friendship bracelet. Kerchiefs? Those are SO CUTE, I'm going to find a way to make one for MY witchee! It's the weekend, and you find yourself without a single chore or responsibility for a few hours. Right this very moment, what's the one thing you would do if you could do anything? That pretty much WAS this past weekend. I went shopping with my daddy yesterday and today I lounged in bed, read some, did some writing, and watched a hockey game. September 23rd Is there anything you'd like from the Mütter Museum Store? THERE'S A SLEEPING SICKNESS GIANT MICROBE?! WHY DID I NOT KNOW THAT. I just noticed that Cocoa Pink has 5 ml Perfume Atomizers. Yay or nay? Scents you would like? Scents you would NOT like? My fashion tastes vary too much. Are there any food items you're craving/aren't able to find around your area? A legitimate Maine lobster roll. Siiigh. September 22nd If you're interested in a handmade pouch/cover for an item you have (phones, tablets, books, keys, kettles...), what would your ideal pouch/cover have? Design, material, additional functionality/features like pockets or lights or secret hidey-holes? Something for my Nook would be nice. I have a plain blue leather case for it right now. I'd love something with bold colors--literary quotes, perhaps, like maybe "To lose her heart" from "The Girl That Circumvented Fairyland In A Ship of Her Own Making". As far as design, it'd just need to be open on the bottom so I could plug in the charger cable, and open on top for the power button. And a pocket inside would be lovely. I have some hockey cards riding around in my Nook case right now. Would you like a photo collage based around your interests/favorite colors/favorite themes? Sure, why not? If you're crafty, are you interested in spoonfeather? And if so, what things there delight your eyes? Spoonfeather is really cool, but WHY SO EXPENSIVE. Colors! September 21st Cthulhu: yay or nay? IA IA CTHULHU! Is there something that you wish you could do, but you keep putting it off? There are things I'd like to do, but mostly it's all about time and money. Put your current mp3player (I am the anti-apple, so no ipod ), winamp playlist, what have you, on shuffle, list the first 10 songs: I answered this one in the thread! Witchee, have you made (or are you planning to make) any Lab or Trading post orders soon? And if you did (or plan to), you should share what you're getting. I am not, unless I get my decants of Ghosts in Love/Le Revenant and fall in LOVE. Do you have any interest in rocks? Not like, polished colorful stones.. but like... rocks. With geologic significance! Yes, especially if there is magnificent trippy-hippy meaning attached to them. I am easily amused. What kind of colors would you prefer? Do you have any fiber allergies or preferences? If a shawl--something light and drapey. If a scarf, warm and thick. If using wool, please choose a blend with a little synthetic fiber mixed in so it's not quite as itchy. As far as colors go...my coat is a light ivory, so preferably bright and bold. I am fantasizing about bold reds these days because whenever I go yarn-shopping for myself I end up going berserk for the blues/greens/purples. If you have a pet, could you please post a photo of it? I really need to see what your pet, if you have one, looks like. She's really terrible about posing for pictures. Just picture: round black furbomb with a white bowtie and an attitude problem. I'm talking about the bath products, lotions, face lotions, teas, food, etc that you really use every day. Let's see... Bath products: I use Wylde Ivy bar soaps (though right now I'm using some other random orchid-scented goat's milk bar soap). Herbal Essence shampoo (the blue coconuty kind) and conditioner (that AMAZING purple stuff for curl-taming). I mix up my own sugar scrub once a week on Fridays. Face products: Burt's Bees's garden tomato soap and toner; Burt's Bees herbal blemish stick where applicable. Tea: I favor Irish breakfast tea in the morning, that or a yummy chai. I do not generally care for manga, etc. If you could choose a Smack, what would it have in it? ...A Smack? if you could have a salon scent made, based on any artwork(s) what would it be? Hmmm. Any of the paintings that have been posted in the thread, especially the Waterhouse ones. Siiiigh. But in light of our conversation about the Brandywine River Museum..."The Gaggle." Can't you just picture it? Soft white musk, light airy (feathery?) florals, something bright and sparkling... ...also, I am obsessed with geese. Are you scientifically curious and/or process-oriented? Would you like a project-type gift that allowed you do do something like make soap from scratch, take and (nontoxic-ly) develop photographs using a pinhole camera, use plant dyes on yarn or fabric, etc.? YES to soap from scratch/plant dyes. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME. /biology major What's 'your' song/your theme song? It really depends on my mood. What would be your superpower? Being able to fly over the land and just magically fix people's emotional shit. Wouldn't that help everyone? Witchee, would you like a gently used BPAL tshirt? Sure, why not? Do you like homemade snack mixes? I know Puppy Chow was mentioned in a previous question, but what about healthier and more natural type snacks like granola or trail mix? You can put a lot of delicious and fun things into trail mix, yeah? If you say "Sure, I'd love some!" what kinds of things do you like/not like in those kinds of snacks, ie coconut flakes, raisins, certain nuts (allergies??), candy, etc. Give us your list of DO's and DON'Ts! There's really not much I don't like with regards to trail mix and granola. I sincerely cannot think of anything. Well. I don't really like wasabi-flavored things. Switch Witch Questions Part II.

Would you like any ecotools makeup brushes? They're kinda one of my favorite things ever, and they're animal-friendly and the handles are bamboo. And to top it all off, they work really well for applying makeup. Sure! Do you like Legos? Especially mini-fig key chains, Lego block keychains, small Lego sets, etc? I love Legos. I would legitimately play with them. But really, dear Witch, you've probably already figured out that I am 25 going on...oh...7. Since the previous question about "what would you buy from the Lab if you had unlimited funds, etc" left WAY too much to the imagination with no limitations (my answer was pretty much BUY ALL THE THINGS!), what would you do if you found a $50 bill on the ground and a nagging voice in the back of your mind told you that you HAD to spend it on BPAL or else face Death. Also, say they had free shipping (LOL) so don't factor that in. What would you get? And spend it all! Or as close to $50 as you can get. I'd probably hang on till the Yules went live, because I tend to be very weak in the face of Yule blends. Are there any characters that you love or identify with? Love: Hatter from the SyFy "Alice", Edward from "The Young Victoria", Julian from "The Forbidden Game" trilogy by L.J. Smith. Yanko from "Swept From The Sea." Identify with: I...honestly don't know. A bit of Edna from "The Awakening", I think. A question! If you are crafty, what's your personal art style? I'm not talking just about what art you like to look at, but what kind of art do you like creating? Do you have a "process" while you're creating beauty? I like doing very detailed work. I tend to go for fantasy art. I like bright colors as opposed to neutrals. I like shimmering things. I have a certain style I do when I'm doing abstracted stuff. The process depends on what I'm doing, really. When I started my embroidery project, for instance (I'm making an altar cloth by hand) I had no idea what I was going to do, so I started with a border using a particular curling motif I use when doodling a lot. I guess you could describe my art style as breaking it down from the symmetry...I always go for symmetry at first, and then it slowly devolves as the design expands, usually on purpose. ...God, I'm such an art dork. I can't help it, dear Witch, I've taught arts and crafts for five summers running, and that stuff WARPS you. Are there any Arcana Weenies that you MUST HAVE? No, but holy shit, TESS OF THE D'URBERVILLES. So what say you? IS an "unexpected" visit/in-person witching OK? I would totally meet someone at school or something, but my house is not usually company-ready. September 19th What strange misc. items would you love to receive that you just haven't gotten for yourself?: I can't think of anything. Oooh, maybe a manicure kit. Have I mentioned that already? Probably. It's been on my mind. My toes still look good, but my hands look like hell. How do you feel about franken polish? Are you okay with all chemicals, or would you prefer 3 free? Would you want glitter or holographic glitter? What colors would interest you? I love the term frankenpolish. I would use it. Dear witchee, how do you feel about lip balm? Favorite style (twist up tube, pot, tube with wand, etc.)? Favorite flavors? Flavors to avoid? Favorite brand? Do you need more right now or are you set? Are you one of those people who could never have enough lip balm even though you have a bowl on your dresser overflowing with them and 10 in your purse and an order for more on the way? I love, love, love lip balm. I do not care for watermelon lip balm. And I think banana would probably make me crazy after a while. I don't care what flavor--I end to use a lot of that really amazing Burt's Bees pomegranate lip balm these days. I'd love like, a clear red tinted balm. I have to say though, the BEST lip balm I've ever had was this pot of homemade lavender-scented lip balm. I LOVED that stuff. Would you be interested in getting fountain pen inks or art supplies via JetPens and or DickBlick? (I know I have a wishlist on JetPens and just love using fountain pens in my artwork) I would probably keel over and die of sheer happiness. I've never had a fountain pen. I have a standard black calligraphy pen, that's all. -For those interested in watercolors, how would you feel about getting a palette filled with paint from my watercolor tubes but not getting the paint tube itself? (copic markers, watercolor, brushes, paint, sketchbooks etc.) Yes. I've never tried copics, I'd love to give it a go. And sketchbooks! YES. -How do you feel about Threadless tshirts? Adoooooooore. If you were turned loose in a basic drug store (CVS, Walgreens - a pharmacy with attached mini-mart, basically!) with a $20 bill, what would you pick up? Another eyeliner like the one I've got now (Milani brand, it's one of the few I don't fuck up with!), a new powder compact, probably another eyeshadow or two. Darling Witchee, would you enjoy farmer's market pickled veggies (green beans, garlic, asparagus, etc) or fresh canned peaches or something of that nature? FRESH CANNED PEACHES. Do you prefer color or white photographs? Nature or abstract? Both on both counts. would you be interested in something like this? https://lostcrates.com/how-it-works Dude, that is cool as hell. Yes. Amigurumi, yes or no? Yes. I have a question! What are some of your favorite paintings? (famous or undiscovered?) Feel free to link to examples! I don't know that I have any current favorites. I'm kind of in love with N.C., Andrew and Jamie Wyeth after visiting the Brandywine River Museum this summer. This is one of my favorites from said museum. http://www.andrewwyeth.com/images.html#8 If you could have an image painted for you - sky is the limit - what would it be? Something of Freyja, in some gorgeous northern landscape with fir trees. Name your 3 favorite scents for candles Mmmm. Lemon-lavender from Yankee Candle. Anything piney and woodsy. The lily of the valley candles my local candle shop makes. Name your 3 favorite types/flavors of tea Sweet mint/vanilla green. (I blended it on Adagio!) Chaaaaaaai. A pretty jasmine. Really, though, I LOVE tea, like more than is healthy. September 18th Do you wear t-shirts? Are there particular things you like on them? Would you like one designed by your Witch? And, if you don't mind saying, what size t-shirt do you wear? I wear T-shirts a lot! And I like pretty designs, especially the kind with swirls and abstracted/collaged designs, and words. In a regular adult T-shirt I wear an XL/2XL, depending on the cut. How do you feel about pumpkin scented things? Not perfume related, but soap, candles, etc... I am not so much on the pumpkin gig. Has anyone else heard of or does anyone else love Glamourkin? I want one desperately. "We are seeking the waters and the wild" Siiiiiigh. If you had an international witch, is there anything you would like from the UK? (Or Australia, Belgium, France any other country we have witches from. Oh, there's nothing I can think of right away. But international candies are always exciting! SOCK PREFERENCES? Would you like/wear a pair of these? http://www.ravelry.c...rary/yoga-socks If so, what color? Those are cute, but my toes always get so cold in the winter! Is there anyone here who likes toe socks? You know, those socks with a place for each toe? I would TOTALLY wear toe socks, especially the stripey and semi-obnoxious kind, but I have tiny little fairy feet and my toes are too small to fit them comfortably. September 17th Are you looking for a certain kind of DVDs to spruce up your collection right now? I would LOVE to have The Young Victoria and/or Bright Star on DVD. I like historical romances, what can I say. Does anyone like postcards? Is anyone willing to be a Nacho witch for postcards? I like postcards. Anyone going to see any good concerts this fall? Not that I know of, though I MIGHT get to go see TSO in the winter. Do you like Star Trek? Original TV series, films, spinoff series, etc? Favorite characters? It's not something I'm wildly in love with, but I like watching it with my dad. September 16th Are you more prone to order out or cook at home? Would you be interested in cookbooks, kitchen utensils, and the like? If so, anything specific? I like cooking at home AND eating out. I don't think I need any utensils right now, and we're solid on cookbooks. Though if you had any cookbooks on working with edible flowers, that would be cool as hell. New question: How do you feel about maple syrup? I like it just fine. The real stuff is best. Do you like Star Wars? Original Trilogy? Prequels? Spin-offs? Favorite characters? Yes, this has been a daddy-daughter bonding time feature film. Do you like beef jerkey, I know some may be vegatarian, but where I live beef is a staple and beef jerkey abounds. If so do you it really thin, hard and crunchy or thicker and softer. (OK that borders on obscene)- Yes, I do. I like it in all its forms. Also do you like or racier ecards from time to time and do you need to be warned if something may be not safe to open at work? I giggle at all kinds of dirty jokes. And no, I don't need to be. Doctor Who? Yay or nay? (please don't make me cry by saying nay) Does "Ehhh..." hurt less than "nay"? I just haven't really gotten into it. I don't watch a ton of TV. I have a couple spare Doctor Who stickers. If my witchee is a fan, would they like a couple Doctor Who stickers in their package? I'm cool with passing on those. Anyone love Buffy/Angel? I don't LOVE it, but I like it well enough. Especially when Spike is involved. Mmmm, Spike. How would you feel about gummies? Like, gummy bears? Gummy werewolves? Gummy vampires? GUMMIES. Gummy ANYTHING. How would you feel about a totally original Gela-skin for your laptop/iPod/phone? Stickers? Decals? Wassat? *googling* Oh! Sure, that looks cool! I have a netbook and a phone that could be totally prettified! Since this is a Halloween round, what's your Creepy threshold? Are you a cartoon bats and smily pumpkins person or a skulls-and-bones the-dead-are-rising kind of person? Are your fairytales dark or Disney? I like creepy all right. Tastefully so. My fairytales know there are things that go bump in the night. Are your ears pierced, Witchee? Do you have any other piercings? Would you like to receive any items of jewelry for these piercings? I really want to try The Sicilian, Fox In The Flowers, Honey Lumps (!!!) Bon Bon Bonnard, Geo Phyzz. Bubble bars: I have tried Sunny Side (and LOVED IT), but I'd like to try Ice Hotel, Pop In The Bath, Happy Bubble, Freedom Foamer. Any of the bath melts. (What's the difference?) Do you blog? Would you like a header for your blog, a layout, etc? YES. OMG. I've been wanting a new LJ layout for AGES and my CSS skillz are lacking and I don't have Photoshop anymore. I don't know what I want, though! I have so many interests I could incorporate. Art, camp, gardening, Victoriana, books, music, hockey, science...maybe a collage effect, with some swirly brushes and stuff? Would you be interested in a handmade bookmark? Sure. Do you like chex puppy chow or muddie buddies (ingredients: semi-sweet chocolate chips, PB, vanilla extract, powdered sugar, chex cereal)? would you want to get some from your witch / nacho witch? I do love puppy chow! And I would not turn it down. How would you feel about receiving a Groupon deal for something in your local area? If there is anything you WOULDN'T like, mention that also. I do not think I would use it.

    Switch Witch Questions.

September 14th Can you sum yourself (whether it be personality, life's goals, ethics, whatever) in 10 words or less? Hopeless romantic nerdy stealth-pagan with a wicked sense of humor. (Stealth-pagan counts as one word, dammit.) How about little bottles of booze? Ya wanna? What kind? Oooooooh. Sure! I like rum, vodka and tequila mostly, but also like various liqueurs and stuff. What are your views on fudge and brownies? (Also, if you live in a warm place, where the fudge might melt, that'd be helpful to know. Or, if you're diabetic and fudge is death, that'd be useful to know, too.) I like them just fine, but do not have a burning desire to have any currently. We make brownies and cake and stuff fairly regularly at my house. Also, what about mochi? Love it, hate it, baffled by it? What is mochi...? Oh. Hmm. I don't know, never had it. Anything from the update ya'll are liking? BPTP UPDATE. Nothing I need. Does anyone like kimchi? Not sure I've ever had any, truthfully. Would you be interested in a sample box(from somewhere like Birchbox or loosebutton)? Sure, it would be interesting. Especially if there's eyeshadows involved. You have to place a Lab and Trading Post order. Right fuckin' now. No spending limits. What do you buy? From The Lab: Bottles of Maiden, Suspiro, Ghosts In Love, Le Revenant, Titania, Jailbait, and October. From the Trading Post: Atmosphere sprays in Cathouse, Alchemical Laboratory, Exotic Bazaar, Fae Forest, and the Orchards of Hell. Bath oils in Morocco and Castitas. Hair gloss in Honey. Paintbox Soapworks - anything you're interested in, in general or from the latest update? I've never tried any Paintbox products. But I would totally try some! I like the looks of: Gingermilk, The Olive Tree, The Man In The Moon, Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh, Sweet Cheeks, Indian Summer and The Queen is Dead (I am uncertain about the leather/smoke notes, but it sounds intriguing!). Do you guys have any sports that you follow obsessively? How about favorite teams and/or athletes? YES. I am a HUGE hockey fan, and I follow the Carolina Hurricanes relentlessly. How do you feel about notebooks/journals/stationery? Anything you need or particularly like? I love them. Especially stationary. I hoard it. Does confetti/glitter make you angry or fill you with glee? I teach arts and crafts during the summer. I hate it AND I am helpless to resist it. Gimme! Fabulous witches and witchees, perhaps you all could note of you've received MeiLin's goodies? Or if you want? I have not read any of MeiLin's stuff, though I'm familiar. I'd give it a go. How do you feel about stuffed animals/plushies/general soft, cuddly things? If you like them, what kind of animals would you be interested in? I LOVE THEM. Any animal, except for...things with too many legs. No. how interested would you be on somewhat personalized bottle cap labels? Like these that I did? I'm good, thank you though. September 13th How would you feel about kitchen towels and other similar household objects, if they are pretty or a souvenir? Sure, why not. Roosters? How did you dress up for your last party or compulsory-formal-dress occasion? My best friend's wedding. I had this knee-length black chiffon skirt with an ivory embroidered detailing, an ivory sweater with pearl buttons (it was in December), strappy black heels, pearls, classic makeup (red lip, smoky eye), curled hair. It was kind of epic. Oh! I just remembered! More recently was Laurel the Woodfairy's wedding. I wore a brown/ivory/coral floral print dress (flutter sleeves, mid-calf-length, wrap bodice) with pearls, brown leather sandals, and soft gold-brown eyes and a coral lip. September 12th Would you like to receive e-books? And if so, in what format? Yesss. Epubs preferable. If you have kids, would you be interested in getting things for them? And if so, what are they interested and what sizes are the wearing now? I do not have any spawn. But I work with kids, and fairytale books, storybooks, etc...yeah, I will not turn those down. Oh, how I miss camp. Would you be interested in a felted handbag? Do any of these styles appeal to you?http://tinyurl.com/3o2epzl (there's at least one guy-friendly style, too!) Um, yes. I like... #3. I like the detailing especially. #5. But I'd want brighter colors or else black. #6. OMG LOVE. I love the stripes and the COLORS. #7. It is crazy and possibly frightening and my cats will think it is an animal that needs to be attacked and I WANT IT. #8. I think I'm attracted to the stars in this one. PRETTY. #10. I like messenger bags, I like purses with long straps. My current bag is this purpley striped cross-body thing with llamas on it that I got at this Hispanic cultural festival in Philadelphia. #11. Cute! #15. I like the long straps. Clearly I have a lot of feelings about these bags. Are there are patterns, motifs, etc that you especially like? Hearts, celestial things, swirls, that kind of filigree look with the curls and stuff, birds, feathers, watercolor designs...if that makes sense? I like a lot of abstract designs. Witchee, would you be interested in having a special tea cup/coffee mug/glass to drink out of? I tend to hoard coffee mugs, especially if they're really pretty or have quotes or something. My FAVORITE mug is this cheap travel mug I got at Walmart, because you can change out the internal liner so there are infinite possibilities for the design. If you're a tea drinker, is there any specific tea you would like to receive, not just the kind/flavor but also the type/packing--i.e., tea bags, loose tea, compressed, etc? I like any kind of tea. I do not like cherry flavoring so much, or blueberry (in teas at least), but I will try anything, especially floral teas. Black tea with rose? Mmmm. September 11th I am fond of the thrift. Do you mind lightly used goods? Please be specific! For instance, I'm a little squicked by used clothing, but I don't mind any other used goods (i.e. books, glassware, games, DVDs, whatever.) I am a poor college student. I do not mind the thrift. Do you have an Etsy shop? Do you know of any Etsy shops that are Switch Witch friendly? I do, but I do not currently have anything for sale. OMG IT'S FROM DISNEY YAY OMG I LOVE DISNEY!” -a reenactment of what actually happens every single time. what are your favorite types of Halloween candy? Caramel bullseyes, lemon things, those strawberry candies, wee little fun-sized packages of anything. I do not care for licorice (but I do like Twizzlers). Do you prefer soap or shower gel? Please give examples of your favorite scents or brands. These days, soap. Wylde Ivy is where it's at for me. I just bought bars of her African Vanilla Bean, Sweet Oat and Nectar soaps. I like soaps that are either warm and sweet and rich or soft florals, because I want them to compliment whatever perfume I'm wearing. How do you like your chocolate? For example with nuts, mint, peanut butter, caramel? If it's chocolate, I will eat it. I like sexy chocolate, like chocolate with spices or lemon or other unusual flavors. Nuts are good, caramel is amazing. I mean, chocolate is chocolate, dude. Beads! Do you use them? Would you want some? What sorts of beads do you like? I am not allowed to go down that aisle unsupervised in Michaels anymore. I tend to buy things. Oh, beads. Why are you so shiny. (I like beads, yes. Gemstones especially.) Anyone here like caramels? Sea salted caramels?!?! Want. Would you like a hand dyed or hand painted scarf or wrap or other item? If so, what colors/designs/fabrics do you like? Suuure! I don't care about designs, but I like bright colors, black and silver together. I tend to gravitate toward blues/greens/purple, but I love reds and oranges too. Fabrics: whatever feels pretty. This was a question before, but does anyone here like stones? Just pretty polished stones for use in whatever purposes? Yes. And another question; anyone like anything in particular from Think Geek? Oh my god. ALL THE THINGS. http://www.thinkgeek.com/brain/gimme.cgi?wid=81ede61e7 Pinterest, do you have boards you want to share or are you following anyone with great boards you want to share? I don't have a ton of stuff on there now, but I go on a pinfrenzy every couple of days or so. http://pinterest.com/cielamara/domesticity/ September 10th What #1 actor, director, author and/or musician are you obsessed with? Catherynne M. Valente. are you interested in anything from the Villainness Bad Apples update? I haven't looked! I will go look. Discord sounds pretty. If you have a pet, would he/she/they like to receive a treat or a toy as a gift? Does your pet have any dietary restrictions or other preferences w.r.t. said treat? Sure! I got some crocheted catnip mousies in a swap last year and my cats LOVED them. What are your top three "I want to try them but I think I'll never get to try them" (or, "I've tried them and I want moar moar moar, but I don't think I'll ever get any") scents/bath oils/sprays? I am on the hunt for the perfect creamy/milky/honey smell. I keep finding new and exciting ones. In terms of rares? Someone frimped me a decant of Frost Moon and it was the most beautiful thing ever. I want it so. Also, the old Chaste Moon. I hoard what I've got and I weep a little when I put some on. Is there a particular artist and piece that you would like a print of? If so, what is your max size that you could spare on your walls? Josephine Wall. I love her artwork. But the plaster that makes the walls in my house doesn't hold things very well. If you are in to beauty and makeup related stuff, what kind of stuff do you like? What is your skintone and hair color? Are there any beauty products you've wanted to try but just never purchase? I like shimmery eyeshadows, peachy-coral blushes, and am on an eternal quest for the perfect lip stain. There are Stila lipstains I'm dying to try. Do you like coffee or tea? Would you be interested in trying some different types? Sweet, sweet nectar of life. I like any and all coffees and teas. We have a Keurig here, so if you have any interesting k-cups (my favorite is that magical island coconut stuff, my god that stuff is like crack to me) I would love to try them. We do also have a traditional coffeemaker. And teabags, loose tea, whatever. I will drink the hell out of it. Are there any CDs/Albums you've been wanting but haven't bought yet? What format do you prefer? (i.e. mp3, actual cd, record, etc) I want...Armin van Buuren's “Mirage” album because it's awesome. I only have one of Vienna Teng's albums (Warm Strangers) but I want the others, desperately. Mp3s work best. Otherwise I am currently satiated on known musical wants, but I love, love, love new music. Are you going away for any part of this round? Nope. Would you like to receive a mix-CD from your Witch? Sure! Just please tell me what the songs/artists are so if I get really obsessed with something I can go hunt down more like it. Y'all just don't even understand how I get about music. If your witch were going somewhere on a vacation during the round, would you want a little souvenir? I don't think I'd be all “YOU WENT AWAY AND DIDN'T BRING ME ANYTHING BACK?! Y U NO LOVE MEEEEEE?” but if I got one I'd be all “OMG YOU ARE AMAZING AND I LOVE YOU FOREVER AND EVER!” because, well, I just get excited like that. Do you enjoy any outdoor activities? Do you have a favorite form of "exercise"? I would live at summer camp if I could, does that answer any questions about my love of the outdoors? As far as exercise...I love to swim and I like tennis/pingpong/badminton. Any witchee's with a ravelry account have any favourited patterns that cost money that would be a welcome gift? That would require me to actually be good at knitting. Do you work/study at a desk and enjoy interesting or cute office supplies? My bed is my desk, but ohhhh, lawdy, do I have an office supply fetish. If I weren't living at home and in a room too small for a desk, my desk would be epic. I settle for just collecting and hoarding colored pens. I legitimately use them, too! LOOK: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/gqaoKPPbluQwCbtN9ocxMg?feat=directlink Witchee, are you a fan of musicals? If so, which ones? OMG YES. SO MANY. Um...my top three are...The Secret Garden, Miss Saigon, and probably Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I have been to productions of all of three. SO AMAZING. September 9th Do you like to burn incense? If so, what are your favorite kinds...sticks? cones? resins? What are your favorite scents? I don't usually burn incense because so much of it doesn't actually smell perfumed, it just smells like smoke. If there were incense that smelled like something delicious, I would be down. As for kinds, doesn't matter. - Harry Potter - a fan? If so, what house are you? Ish. I'm a little over Harry Potter, but I'm a Ravenclaw. - If you were to receive a gift card, what places would you like to get one from? B&N, probably. Wylde Ivy, or Bathed & Infused. Lush. Yankee Candle. Is there a particular myth/folktale/legend/fairytale/godstory that you're drawn to? Well, I'm a devotee of Freyja, so Norse mythos is pretty important to me. Fairytales, however...the Snow Queen is my favorite of all time, along with the Wild Swans and the Steadfast Tin Soldier. If you RP, tabletop, forum, or otherwise... Do you have any original characters you'd like to see art of? If so, please give information! Even if it's a link to a web page or a profile or picture! I have before, but I'm not currently gaming with anyone. But I would love art of the Snow Maiden, or the Snow Queen, or anything like that! If you could see anything, what would it be? Can be a person, an event, a landmark or monument, an object, etc. And it doesn't have to be on this planet, or in this time period, or in this reality! I struggle with really broad questions like this. Ummm. Neptune from space. Sarah Brightman in concert. Canova's Cupid e Psyche. Istanbul. Byzantium. When you are having a really rough day, what do you like to do/have to make it a little brighter? I tend to wallow in the bath and then lock myself in my room with music and a book. What are your thoughts on comics? Any you like? Any you have been wanting to try? Favorite characters? I like some webcomics. Questionable Content, xkcd, Narbonic, which is now ended. I have the first two volumes of Narbonic, but not the rest. I'm not really into actual comics-comics that much, but there are a few I've considered reading. Are you musical? Do you play an instrument, and if so, what? If not, what do you wish you could play or do? I sing and have for years! I am a soprano and the one who usually gets picked to sing the really crazy high descants when they occur. I play a tiny bit of piano and I would really like to learn to play the violin. Does anyone garden? And if you do, what do you grow? If not, would a starter garden kit be something you'd be interested in? Yesss! I love to garden! I don't get to grow much because I'm not home during the summers, but I love herbs (especially fragrant/medicinal/culinary ones) and LILIES. I love to grow things from seed in particular. Do you decorate for Halloween? Is your decorating taste elegant, kitschy and fun, or scary? Not really. I do burn some candles for the Samhain aspect of it. I think I probably would if the other people in my house got into it, but they don't. I do love harvest-themed decor though. Witchee, do you have any symbols or totems that have special meaning for you? Birds--geese and falcons. Cats. Runes. My astrological glyphs—Gemini for my sun, Cancer for my moon and ascendant. Fir trees. Lily of the valley. Treble clefs. Is anyone fond of programs like Adopt a Tree/Highway/Library/Manatee/Acre of Rainforest/etc?: Sure! I'm pretty interested in conservation efforts. September 8th From the Weenie Update....what are you most wanting to try? I've requested decants of Ghosts in Love and Le Revenant. I am especially excited about Ghosts In Love. Who's into nail polish? What colors/brands? I like nail polish, but my nails often go unpainted because I work with my hands so much. I think if I had a better manicure kit I'd keep them painted more. I like shimmery, iridescent colors best. Is there a quote (or lyric or part of a poem) that really resonates with you or is your favorite? There's a constantly revolving door in my mind for song lyrics and stuff, but there are two poems that really just bring me to my knees. “Fairytales” by Shu Ting and “Camomile Tea” by Katherine Mansfield. The former has a pair of couplets that I actually used for my calligraphy project (aww, yeah!) in graphic design in high school: The heart may be tiny But the world's enormous. And The world may be tiny But the heart's enormous. Dream candle? Scent, color, type (tealight, votive, pillar, jar, etc.), throw... I am indifferent to color. For types of candles, it depends—am I simply burning it or is it going on my altar? If it's going on my altar, I want a pillar. Otherwise, jar. Now, as for scents, I like things like... Any of the Yankee Candle foresty blends. The snowy pine smell brings me to my knees. Harvesty blends...not the foody things, but like, apple smells, pomegranate, leafy smells. Lemon-lavender. LILAC. And lily of the valley. Do you like knitted goodies? If so, what would you like and what colors? Oh, my, yes. I would LOVE a hat/scarf combo in like, a white/icy-blue/silver combo, because my coat is a winter white and it looks MEGA-cute on me. Would you be interested in homemade edibles that are NOT sweets? Any specifics? Sure, why not? What GC do you live in mortal terror of the lab discontinuing, but never get around to buying? I don't believe there are any. Maiden, perhaps, but I've just not yet gotten around to getting a bottle of that. Or Titania. I'd cry if there was no Titania. Yo, yarnies! Do you Ravelry? If so, who are you over thar? I think I have a Ravelry account...if so, it's cielamara. Social Media? FB, LJ, Dreamwidth, Twitter. Cielamara on all. Do you have wishlists for non-BPAL e-tailers? And if so, could you provide a link or a list? Thinkgeek up there. Witchee, do you use a PC or a Mac? PC. What is your favorite animal? Birds, cats. What are you going to be for Halloween? A novelist. NaNoWriMo starts at midnight. If you could have a piece of oil painting jewelry (pendant, pair of earrings, or ring) with absolutely anything painted on it, what would it be? (If you prefer wall art instead, same question as above.) Snow fairies. How do you feel about nick-knacks? I am a magpie. I can't help myself. What traditions (family, holiday, or otherwise) are important to you? The ones foremost in my mind are camp traditions. Arch songs, serenade...the keeping of ashes from campfires, the songs we sing. Also, my spiritual traditions—a ritual every Friday night (Friday = Freyja's day). Do you like going to the movies? Sure. What are your favorite restaurants? Chain restaurants: Red Lobster, On The Border, Macaroni Grill, Carrabas. Do you play any video games? Not really. I do love the Sims, but my other computer is currently borked and I can't play. Do you like any anime? Not really, but I did let one of my friends show me this one anime before I left PA that I liked. Breakblade? Do you have an E-reader/iPad/something similar that you need a cover/case for? I have a Nook! The original. I like my current cover, but I wouldn't turn down another. how much do you like jewelry? like, if you were to get a shit ton of it during the round, how excited would you be? I would be ecstatic. How would you like to receive some of your Witch's favorite recipes, tailored to your likes/dietary restrictions? And specific wants? I love recipes! I would like more sneaky vegetarian recipes. My parents are more likely to let me cook vegetarian if the lack of meat isn't obvious. Do you need any boxes to store your smellies in? What would you store in said hypothetical box--imps, bottles, supplies, all of the above? Actually, yes. If I buy any more bottles at all I won't be able to fit them all in the box they're in. I have like...between 20 and 40 bottles, I don't know the exact count. I'd probably just keep the bottles and a handful of imps. Muppets: yea or nay? Indifferent. Do you have an affinity for Calvin and Hobbes, Peanuts, The Far Side, and other comic strips? If so, which is your favorite? Nah. I do like Archie comics, though. Favorite Mythological Creature?: Selkies. Do you like hair things: barrettes, headbands, flowers? Yes. But I have a lot of hair and it is aggressive, so they need to be fairly sturdy. I like sparkly or unusual hair things, and I really love big, ridiculous bows. Expanding on the hair question - does anyone like those flower clips for the hair that are big right now?? I don't know. I'd have to see one to find out.

This is really interesting. First-on, I can DEFINITELY smell a sort of sharpness, that I think is probably the myrtle. Then the amber starts to come out, and it DOES have a slightly powdery kick to it, but it's mostly just rich and rather heady. As it starts to go to drydown, it sweetens up a LOT, and ends with this BEAUTIFUL kind of creaminess. Mmmmmmm.
  8. Cielamara

Ooooh. In the imp: Rich earthy red musk. It reminds me at first of my beloved Scherezade, and then--no, no, yes, Scherezade still, but Scherezade mixed with the spiciness of Snake Oil. And what's that sweetness in there? Wet: This reminds me even MORE of Snake Oil. How is that? I keep wanting to slice it with the rich vanilla in that blend. Settling: Ohmigod. There's still this beautiful musk, but definitely settling, and the sharp sweet strawberry is coming out. It reminds me of Adagio's beautiful wild strawberry tea blend, unsweetened--just tart strawberry, lush with its own natural sweetness. Drydown: That quirky Jailbait bubblegum note, very subtle, just beneath the sexy musk and strawberries. I LIKE IT!
  9. Cielamara

In the bottle: Mmmm, so sharp and bright! The lemon is quite aggressive and tart, like a truly fresh lemon wedge being put to your lips. Mmmmmm. Wet: This is all lemon on me. Sharp, tart lemon, amped-lemon. Not the sweeter, thicker lemon of bergamot oil, or the acrid lemon of Pledge, but...lemon-candy. Like a lemon-drop, tart and beginning to have that crusty, gritty bite of sugar. Middling: The green tea is soaring to the front. It's not like a cup of hot green tea, but rather, a very cool glass with ice and more sugar, to sip while sucking on a delicious old-fashioned lemon-drop. Drydown: This is so deliciously cool and green and lemony. Sweet--not as gentle as, say, Empyreal Mist, which was the other top contender for this particular scent niche, but it's beautiful. It's got a reasonably good staying power on me, considering how delicate the main notes are, and I love the way it smells on fabric.

The Best Scents for Home, a Room, the Car...

I bought bottles of Hymn and Seraglio for room scenting purposes, personally. Smoky, resiny, rosy...rich and warm. They both just fill me with a sense of well-being.

Baghdad lived on my I-wanna-try list from the very beginning of my venture into BPAL. However, I somehow never got a chance to try it till Lady Ravenglass sent me a couple imps. First impressions: Mmmm, spicy. Almost foody. I'm very anti-foody, generally, but this is only a little foody...quite tolerable. Wet: I can smell that nutmeg. I'm feeling a bit cautious about this one, as I'm not sure that the foodier spices really work on me. This one smells a bit like Wrath and Malice both did before the cursed spices in those turned vile on me. It's rather a pale brown and gold scent...appropriate for the desert. Settling: The spices are still the dominant influences. Nutmeg and saffron, singing a duet. It's growing on me--I definitely like the scent as a whole, but this may be one that smells better in the burner than on my skin, per se. That musk is beginning to come through for me...musk and sandalwood, warm and sweet and gentle in the background. This is like sunset in the desert, not quite as hot as high noon, but still warm, and a little breezy Drydown: Well, the drydown is beautiful. It's musk and amber, pretty much, with a hint of sandalwood. I never smelled either mandarin or rose, at any point in this perfume's evolution, which I find interesting. Usually rose will launch itself from my skin and attack me at some point in the game, but not in Baghdad. Baghdad is warm, sweet, and subtly exotic. I like it. I don't know about a bottle of this; if nothing else, I'll enjoy the imp.

    Embalming Fluid

When I first came to the Lab, the description of this sounded intriguing to me, but I wasn't quite sure I could see myself wearing a perfume with a name like Embalming Fluid. Months later, I find myself telling Lady Ravenglass that I've never smelled it, and that I would, in fact, appreciate her throwing in an imp for me when she shipped out my package. Before I even got the imp open I liked it. I sniffed the top of the little tape row on it, and I got a whiff of this clean, sparkling fragrance--sparkly much in the way that Titania is sparkly, but...a bit more sullen. Titania is pale blues and greens and sultry lavender with silver glitter. This is has that same green color, but with a yellowy cat's-eye color dominating it. It's rejuvenating. Wet: Mmmm, tasty lemons and something a little sweeter. I think that's the green tea smell like what I loved in Empyreal Mist. There's something that almost reminds me of Sudha Segara, which is a good thing. Settling: Mmmm, this is softening just a little. The lemon is still there, but it's warming with my skin and it reminds me deliciously of fresh-squeezed lemonade. I LOVE that stuff. This is fresh-squeezed lemonade, rubbing the glass against your forehead and cheeks, and letting a little bit drip down into your cleavage to cool your skin a little on one of those hot sultry summer evenings. The musk is blooming on my skin, like all of Beth's beautiful musks do, and while this is still cool, it's not quite so fragile anymore. Drydown: Mostly musk and green tea are left. This is a lovely blend, it really is. It works with my chemistry, but still manages to be cool and gentle. I'm going to have to think on this one's future. I guess one of the things that's making me scratch my head a bit is that I'm trying to figure out if this blend really registers as its concept in my head. With some of my other fragrances--they smell like their concept. They connote it so perfectly to me there's no question. But Embalming Fluid--I can see it, but I can't see it. Maybe I just need to spend some time contemplating embalming fluid in general.

    Snow Moon

Snow Moon. I've obsessed about this one since I missed being able to get it when it was originally released. I managed to nab a decant--and then a bottle--of it here on the forums. In the imp: WHOA. That's like being bitchslapped by a pine tree. Yikes. Wet: That pine tree is pissed off at me. It keeps walloping me from my wrist as I write. Oh, I'm hoping it settles down. I had such hopes for those pretty pale florals in it. Settling: Oh...oooh! Yes! There are florals! Just like with Storm Moon *swoons* those biting woodsy notes are taking a back seat to the pale wet florals. Of course, at moments it seems a bit mannish on me, almost masculine. But that's okay. I like this cool, soft, snowy blend. Maaaybe it's better suited for my new tart/oil burner *purrs* but it doesn't smell half bad on me. Drydown: Oh, how lovely. This is Snow Moon to me. This is pale, sweet snow, glittering in the moonlight. It's got the evergreen, but it's soft and shadowy against that pale bright moonlit snow. Mmmmm, this is lovely. Blends like this make me feel a deep love for humanity. Okay, so maybe just for Beth, but still.

This was the fourth of the gift-imps from Massachusetts. In the bottle: Hmm. I was expecting to get hit with a blast of berries as was the case with Blood Countess. No such thing with Florence. Florence has the rose-gold haze of spice and amber that drew me to it initially. Wet: There's that hint of berry, but it's mostly iris, I think. This is nice. Settling: Hello spices! There's still very little sign of the berries. Just amber and spices, amber and spices. This is nice, but it's not got a whole lot of oomph on me, which is surprising...normally amber and spice mean it's going to be there for a while. Drydown: Florence was lovely, and I would like to occasionally smell this in the room...but my spice quota is already fulfilled. Between Scherezade and Snake Oil, I'm good to go on the heavy spicy blend front. However, this one might have a future in the bottle business--not for me, but for my mother. I made her try some on and she's really liking it.

Sybaris was yet another gift from my friend in Massachusetts. I love people who are generous with their unwanted imps. In the imp: I agree with what was said earlier in the thread--there is a generic spicy BPAL scent. I also refer to it as the "box scent", the aroma of any container that I use to hold my growing stash in for any length of time. Sybaris has got that thing going on. Still, I don't hold it against it. Wet: Mmm, this is a little bit lighter than a lot of spicy scents. It is oddly clean-smelling for a blend heavy in spice. I suspect that is the influence of the violet. I'm smelling it rather strongly on me, but not unpleasantly. Settling: Cinnamon. I smell cinnamon. Funny how that works, as there's no cinnamon in there. Aha! There is sweet clove! Holy Gods, there's a clove that works on me. How lovely. The previous blends I've tried that involved clove meant that the clove just SAT there on my skin like a big magenta toad. This one does not. This was what I expected out of Malice and didn't get. This is tasty. Drydown: It was a relief to know that there is a clove out there that I can wear. However...I've already got so many spicy blends. I will probably be putting this one up for grabs, simply because I've already gotten the niche filled.
