BPAL Madness!

Recommended Posts

This is a beautiful white floral. The florals are pale and powdered in a classic, yet whimsical sort of way. The white taffeta is nothing like Black Taffeta, if you have tried it. It is similar, but not quite like the silk note, which has a distinctive, almost fruity sweetness to it. I get more of a smooth note binding everything together (no plastic notes as well) that conjures images of fine, white satin gloves you would wear to a ball, which is fitting. This is nothing like a linen or cotton note, either (so no laundry vibes).

There is a somewhat aldehydic note, without the soda bubbles, and just the smooth high notes. I was expecting something similar to Silver Phoenix, but SP is quite more metallic.

This reminds me most of:

- Young Woman Powdering Herself - less gardenia

- Datura Blossom - less purple and vegetal

- Moonshine & Mist - less mist

- White Silk Crysanthenum - less bubbles and spice

- Razors in a Doll's House - less cognac or vanilla lace type, more the floral + silver aspect

- Tovenares - less rose and bones

- Leanan Sidhe - less mist

I know powdery scents get a lot of hate, but this is one that I love. It's fresh, clean, classic, elegant, and ethereal. It perfectly fits Sarah floating around in the white ballgown. :wub2:

If you grabbed this you like me are likely a fan of the inspo film.

It. Did.. Not. Disappoint.

Ignore it wet in bottle.

On skin opens with an almost indolic slightly hypnotic white floral that sticks around for a few hours.   As it dries it literally falls into a big  white ball gown that untimely  leaves you with a crumpled dress and a hint of silver as the  memory fades and you wonder if it even happened.

I'm totally nerding out. If you arent a fan of the inspo it probably wont hit the same it definitely tells a story for me.

Layered with Dahlia it is a BANGER

Through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered... I absolutely bought this solely because of the inspiration (I don't even remember seeing notes listed until I came here 🤣).

Florals aren't really my thing and don't normally play nice on my skin but this is divine. Something is strongly reminding me of the beeswax note BPAL uses, it's sweet and creamy and not very floral at all. As it dries down on my skin, I can absolutely picture myself in a poofy white gown dancing with strange and beautiful people in masks.

This is the most powdery of powdery scents, with something a little reminiscent of blown out candles. I don't get a strong flowery floral at all. I need to experiment a bit more, but it feels like it'd make a beautiful layering scent. I expected it to be a lot lighter and airier, but this is a gorgeous sophisticated ballgown scent.

I am picturing a very elaborate, very tasty wedding cake, the kind covered in frosting flowers and lacy blown sugar flourishes. It's got a fluffy vanillic sweetness along with the soft powdered sugar florals and you almost think it's a cake you can eat. But wait, it's not a real cake, it's made of silk taffeta, chiffon, and lace!

At first, the fabric note is very forward and threatens to take this into laundry territory, but it quickly calms down and becomes this lovely frothy ballgown that looks much like a wedding cake with sweet flowers. It's quite evocative of my favorite scene in the movie and the poofy white frock that Sara is wearing. Simply lovely, I'm so glad I blind-bottled this!

This also reminds me of cake with lots of candles for some reason, even though it's definitely a white floral scent rather than a gourmand. Maybe there's a wisp of vanilla musk somewhere in this? Overall, it's a creamy white floral (tuberose or gardenia, maybe?) with something sweet and ethereal curling around the edges. It fits the imagery of that beautiful ballgown for sure. I like layering it with Pink Cupcake for extra sweetness.

A soap bubble. Not super acrid, kind of fruity. Opens into hairspray, a big fancy dress, makeup (especially berry scented lipstick).Artificial and fancy

As soon as I smelled this in the decant, I knew it reminded me of something I've tried.

As soon as it put it on, I went to get that other scent to deathmatch with it.

I think I've crackled at least one prominent floral note!

I believe Dangers Untold features the same moonflower utilized in Zorya P. I had Zorya P on my left arm and Dangers Untold on my right, and I kept sniffing, switching from one arm to the other, and I'm pretty confident that moonflower is at least one of the pale florals in this scent. I'm getting something with it that reminds me of the porcelain of Pediophobia and the mineralic aspect of Black Opal, BUT I destashed my partial of Black Opal for a partial of Gothabilly (no regrets), so I can't compare the two to know for sure. I think there may also be some some metallic-infused musk representing the silver glitter, as after the mineralic, powdery (but not in a bad way or an orris baby powder way!) floral phase calms down, I get something high-pitched infused into what I believe is a silvery musk. But I also wouldn't rule out that high-pitched note being a different floral note or some sort of non-fizzy aldehyde. I don't get anything vanilla-like from this on my skin, but I do feel like layering this with a vanilla-centric blend like Antique Lace 2017 would be really lovely.

I don't think I need to upgrade this one to a bottle, but I think I may try to keep the decant around for layering purposes.
