Aristocratic Prostitutes in Languid Repose

Recommended Posts

Poppy smoke, velvet jasmine, sweet three-year aged patchouli, and black plum.

Remember how Blood Countess was all opium smoke and plum and some florals?

Yeah.

This is like that.

Smoky. Plummy. Florals to make it smell like perfume instead of a beverage. I was hoping for a bit more patchouli, since this could be a little dirtier and Id be a little happier. I dont like the scent of plums after theyve been on my skin 8 hours, they smell like crumbled dusty jolly ranchers. But its ok because I verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry much that smoky poppy top note and Ill just wash it or whatever at the four hour mark.

Chosen by my friend and stolen by me because it smelled much too clean on her skin chemistry.

Plum, jasmine, and smoky patchouli. This one is sort of reminiscent to Blood Countess, but this one is more delicate and Asian. There's a cool plum blossom vibe. Medium throw and wear length.

On the other hand, if you were wondering about Blood Countess, this sort of gives you a similar impression. It's not a 1-1 dupe, but it's in that family.

I love this so much. I blind-bought a bottle because I love smoke notes and I was NOT disappointed. This one is full-bodied, smoky, and on me I can smell the slight florals but not so much the plum. It has excellent throw and I've been wearing it all day and I can still smell it. It hasn't faded too much at all.

SO glad I took a chance on this one.

I blind-bought this in order to try out something new. I was quite surprised. It is smoky and strong and smells a lot like what I believe is the jasmin. Made me realise that I'm not a fan of jasmine. Sadly, I don't smell the plum in the bottle. On me, the plum becomes more prominent and the jasmine and smoke goes back quite a bit, which I'm thankful for. Everything turns sweeter on me so the end result is sweet, smoky plum with a sharpness to it. It's elegant but it's not me. I'll let this one be so it can get the chance to age. Still glad that I got it!

Edit:

This is getting better and better. The sharpness that I didn't like is going away, still smoky, can still detect the plum. The scent mellowed down into something that I can wear. I'm going for this more than I thought I would. This one stays on my skin for quite some time.

In the decant: The first impression I get is an oddly effervescent, almost soapy, fruity-floral, leaning a little more fruity than floral. I also get a bit of the poppy smoke, but at this stage, it's more like the ghost of smoke, where all the acrid edges have been blunted.

Wet: Vaguely fruity soap at first, which did not fill me with anticipation. However, after a few minutes, the soap starts to trade places with a pleasantly light, fruity, patchouli. Eventually, it ends up as a light, pleasant fruity-patch-floral. I thought this would be a rich, languid, very NSFW scent, along the lines of Red Lantern or Nasty Woman, but instead I'm getting a lot more "aristocratic" and not quite enough "prostitutes," if you know what I mean. Maybe this is one of those rare instances where jasmine, which I ordinarily love, just catastrophically fails to work on me?

Dry: The soapy jasmine continues for a good four or five hours, rounded out by occasional whiffs of fruit (not strong enough to identify the plum directly). After that, though, the soap burns off and I'm left with a tantalizing, elusive, smoky jasmine, complicated by whiffs of an interestingly subdued, non-juicy plum, and supported by some very subtle patch. If patchouli is normally a growly, stomp-all-over-everything Godzilla of a note for you, this might be a more wearable alternative.

I wanted to love this so much, but I must have the skin chemistry that makes it smell much too clean. This is pure soap on me, sadly. In the bottle, it smells like smoke and high-florals; quite simply, it smells wonderful. On my mother, it is much less soapy and much more a smokey, plummy floral. She tends to wear these types of scents quite well, so it was no surprise.

This took...2 weeks to settle? Something like that. For a while, I was worried that I'd have to pass this by as a purely high note floral, but I tested again last night and it's starting to come good! It's a surprising scent-the notes made me (and others) think it was going to be a chewy, plummy, earthy kind of thing, but in reality it's...more like the thin ribbon of smoke floating above aristocratic prostitutes. Definitely floral dominant for the first 4 hours or so with moderate throw, then it fades in to a close to the skin smokey poppy. The sweet patchouli modulates the jasmine in a really, really interesting way. This is one to put away and age for a year, and then probably regret only getting one bottle.

In the imp: smoke and screeching florals. I hate florals, why did I get this? (Answer: a mix-up with similarly-named Shungas.)

Wet: The florals immediately tone down when it hits my skin, and the smoke amps up. It's a cool smoke though, gentle and not trying to choke me. The patchouli is intertwined with the jasmine and keeping it in check. I don't get any plum, but I also don't really get along with plum so that's fine with me.

Dry: Mostly still poppy smoke and light jasmine, but the patchouli has traded places with a slight hint of warm plum fruitiness. The jasmine has gone a bit soapy, but not disgustingly so. It's definitely a lot cleaner-smelling than I expected.

This confirms my suspicions that jasmine is one of the florals I CAN do, as long as it's not the star player. It's still not really my style, but I'll keep the decant for special occasions where I need something less incensey than what I usually gravitate towards.

Yes, total Blood Countess family vibe. Lots of poppy smoke and jasmine at the opening, with patch and plum wilding in the foreground. Ends like a 'clean' incense, entwined florals and a through-line of something slightly soapy (in a good way) with a ringing tang. Really great use of the poppy note, recommended for aficionados who want to experience it writ super soft.

Date: April 2018

In the vial: Fresh, really fresh and clean/airy (reminds me of DL Hemp/MossySoil blend) There's a nice blend of high, slightly floral top notes with a deeper under current. This definitely has layers, it's lke a musical chord with scents. I get a little poppy/opium airy note with beginning of the sniff, then everything blends together. Nicely done.

Wet on Skin: Patchouli and plum mix together to almost get a woodsy scent. This is a little ethereal. There's a sensuous note at the bottom of the scent. Very airy and gentle. A summer goth sort of scent. The plum i starting to come out. If the jasmine amps up anymore, it will change the entire mood of the scent.

Dry 30+ mins: It's soapy (clean) top notes with a spicy plum undertone, almost a cherry plum. I could do with a little less soap.

Worn 3+ hours: Soapy spicy plum. I like it, the husband likes it, but I'd like it a lot better if the poppy/jasmine combo settles down. I'll let it chill for a few day and try again.

Sweet and seductive, an exotic floral blend. The jasmine is so sexy with the wisps of poppy smoke curling through, and the dark, lush fruitiness of plum. Date night scent for sure!
