stellamaris Report post Posted December 8, 2012 A solemn, meditative experience: sweet Indian frankincense, North African myrrh, and dried red rose petals. I only bought one bottle of this??? One??? Seriously? This is very straightforward and fabulous.I have taken my bath, now I am going to slather on some Midnight Mass, and put Frankincense and Clove Hair oil in my hair. And die happy. This is so rich and resin-y, I hardly notice any rose, that's OK. I love this. Going to need a boatload.
razzlecupcake Report post Posted December 14, 2012 Seconded. It is rich and delicious.. I do smell the rose, but otherwise it is almost a less-jammy (no currant!) Cousin to my most very favorite, All Souls (06-07+2010, not 1917). :off to go buy more: It is just so good you guys, seriously!
sharkdiver Report post Posted December 24, 2012 This is beautiful and actually pretty light! The rose petals are definitely present, but it's not a strong ROSE! it's softer rose petal scent if that makes sense, and it smells like Church incense mingled with it! It's very wearable, and leave a light rosy/incense scent on your skin, and doesn't overpower you in the bath.
thekittenkat Report post Posted January 7, 2013 Note: I use the Post's bath oils as after-shower lotions. In the decant: Mostly myrrh, with hints of frankincense and rose. Wet: I'm getting more rose, now. The dry-down: And now more frank! Quite a morpher, but not as marvelous as I had hoped for, as it fades fast on my dry skin. Keeping my decant, though. Dark Alice Report post Posted January 13, 2013 Resinous, gorgeous myrrh....with just the right amount frankincense. Sadly...I am amp the rose in this so I will only use it up the decant b/c otherwise...this would be a big bottle purchase.
milo Report post Posted February 2, 2013 Maybe it's just the description association, but this reminds me of rose scented bath oil beads. Strong, dark rose and a touch of frankincense and myrhh at first, at this point, it reminds me of Rose Cross. Dry, soft rose, contemplative and regal. Even though I'm not really a rose fan, I really like this, the rose doesn't turn sour, and blends nicely with the resins. Very soft and wearable.
calivianya Report post Posted October 9, 2013 I love resins, and I wish they were just a teeny bit stronger here. The strongest note to my nose is the rose, which is a very loud, perfumey rose - not at all a soft red rose like I was hoping. Still, it's not bad by any stretch of the imagination. I like it, but it's just not my favorite bath oil ever.
elka_knits Report post Posted December 30, 2014 (edited) I am one bath away from being done with my bottle. Purchased directly from lab by me so I am lots of baths into this. Somewhere along the line I got a tinge of spic n span and now associate that with this scent. Which is the sadness. I was a great deep dark rose scent with lots of resins in there. Mainly resins with a rose undercurrent. I believe frank tends to amp on me {I have avoided both frank and myrrh heavy scents for a while now--- I have enough perfumes that I go on floral kicks or resin kicks or ahem coconut kicks so I guess it is less avoidance and more focusing on something else lately} and so I cannot think of which of the resins stomps all over the place at the moment. Overall I am looking forward to being done with this one. I have been giving myself a break from it with virgins blood and sugared peach bath oil. I guess it is safe to say I am wishing for lighter and brighter instead of deep and contemplative which is probably coloring my judgement. I also decided to start using/wearing stuff pretty religiously in an effort to cull the heard {along with PIFs and giftedness} and have finished several bath oils this way. This one has been the most difficult to finish. HOWEVER it is much lighter in the bath. Nowhere near as overwhelming in the tub as it is in the bottle for the record, and nothing at all to do with the scent itself, the religious scent of last winter was Glasya and the two layered beautifully. And I finished up a bottle of Glasya to boot. Both scents were heavy dark rose scents to my rather unsophisticated nose. editing to add I like my roses girly instead of dark... rose water, tea roses, pink roses, sugared roses, roses with cream, roses with strawberry 'LOVE' instead of dark roses. If you like somber roses this one is probably for you. Edited December 30, 2014 by elka
zankoku_zen Report post Posted January 29, 2015 Soft frankincense and roses. I have the other Frank and Myrrh blend on my other hand, and the resins in that blend are much more assertive. This one is a softer blend. Softer resins and just the barest hints of red roses. It's soft, sensual and comforting.
