What works: Leathers & Musks work best. Vetiver likes me. Murk. Wood. Sharp, feral scents. Some aquatics.
What might: Alcohol in context. Spice in very small traces.
What doesn't: Florals. Fruits. Food. Light/bright scents. Heavy spice blends. Incense. Ambers.
And no cinnamon. Burn, baby, burn.
There will no doubt be exceptions to all of the above, but the above is generally true.
