ellocentipede Report post Posted January 1, 2019 In dramatic contrast to the soft innocence of Snow White and the dew-kissed freshness of her sister, Rose Red, this is a blood red, voluptuous rose, velvet-petaled, at the height of bloom. Haughty and imperious, vain, yet incomparably lovely to the eye, but thick with thorns of jealousy, pride and hatred. This is the Peacock Queen we all know and love, in hair gloss form! It’s a dark, lush, and velvety red rose. Simple, classy, and elegant. I was in need of a rose-y gloss, and this fits the bill perfectly.
brineydeep Report post Posted January 1, 2019 I agree with Ello that this is scratching my itch for a rose hair gloss. It’s just like the perfume: entirely elegant and refined rose. This is the perfect compliment to all the rose perfumes in my BPAL collection. I love it.
Miyabi Report post Posted January 27, 2019 Oooh, I loved this. On my hair, Peacock Queen isn't haughty--she's just reserved, and maybe a bit soapy (which I love!). It's not overwhelming and fades after a while. Perfect year-round gloss!
doomsday_disco Report post Posted February 5, 2019 (edited) I was super excited when I saw that this had been made into a hair gloss, even though I already have two bottles of Rose Red hair gloss from 2014. Can one justify having them both? The answer is yes, of course. They are two very different roses. While Rose Red is a fresh, dewy, young red rose, Peacock Queen is a regal, velvety, mature red rose. (I knew that before buying it, since I've tried the perfume and own a bottle of the bath oil, but I thought it might be helpful noting the differences here for those that are trying to choose between the two.) Rose Red has more oomph to it than Peacock Queen, so Peacock Queen would be the more work-friendly of the two, as it is less in-your-face and more refined. That isn't to say that it is weak, though. I have worn this the last two days, and since it has been windy here, I will sometimes get wafts of velvety rose being carried by the wind. This is a really lovely rose hair gloss that would pair wonderfully with so many rose perfumes, and I am glad that I grabbed a bottle. zankoku_zen Report post Posted February 21, 2019 Perfectly mature and deep red rose - velvety, proud, and red. Good throw.
Minh Scent Report post Posted February 21, 2019 I was expecting a more "in your face" rose, but it is not at all. However, this makes it, as Doomsday mentioned, very work appropriate. Pretty, elegant rose I am happy to have in my "arsenal".
Assimbya Report post Posted April 28 I adore this one so much. Peacock Queen perfume oil is stunning, but so far at least it fades pretty quickly on me. This may change as my bottle ages (though I in general have some problems with my skin devouring rose and leaving none for me), but for now I was so thrilled to discover that the hair gloss lasts forever and ever in my hair, with a gentle but distinctive throw. It's a deep, pure, dark red rose, velvety and smooth and delicious. Whenever I wear it I feel happy all day to get hints of rose from my hair. Highly recommended for rose fans, especially those who like me generally do the opposite of amplifying it. Right now this and Laura are alternating as my two everyday hair glosses, and I need to get some more in the rotation to avoid using them up too fast! But Peacock Queen HG is a delightful addition to my routine.
jmakes Report post Posted Thursday at 04:26 PM (edited) (aka I can finally smell like a benevolent fairytale queen clad in velvet) true rose is one of my very favorite scents. When I was a kid, I remember holding a bouquet for a friend's baptism and sneaking a bite of a petal. I was devastated to find that instead of a delicious, velvet, lush-to-almost-chocolate flavor I expected from the smell, all I got was sharp astringent green. I've been chasing that elusive rose flavor my whole life. After reading what seemed like every single post on IMAM about true rose, I ordered this from BPAL since the Peacock Queen perfume oil is out of stock (however, for comparison, I did order and am still awaiting the in-stock Peacock Queen oil from Ajevie). This arrived yesterday and I spritzed a little on my wrist, and spritzed twice in my hair. This is a garden full of lush, juicy red roses, from a distance, caught on the wind. I was burying my nose in my wrist chasing that smell, but it faded quickly on skin (which is totally understandable, given it's a hair gloss). On my hair, the scent bloomed softly for an hour or so, going through every iteration of a mature red rose. It's sweet but in a beautiful, not gourmand way. This is the scent of a magical rose in the forest that's so perfect you're scared to pick it because it must be a trap set by a beautiful, but possibly malevolent, spirit. My nose expects each whiff to turn sweet, but instead it turns beautiful in a way that is just shy of seductive. It's not beauty meant to entrap, but beauty for its own sake, to witness from afar. I smell like the queen the tired heroes return to after they vanquish the great evil. I'm ready to grant them each their one heart's desire for their valor. I enjoyed catching subtle whiffs of this whenever I turned my head. longevity is about 2 hours, after which I needed to reapply. I wish I could turn this into a solid flavor and eat it. My boyfriend was hugging me and pushed his nose into my hair, saying it smelled really really good. This isn't an overwhelming smell by any means; even those sensitive to scent probably won't smell it unless they're very close. I love this so much and am missing it while I test out my other imps. It's an all-seasons scent and I'm definitely going to be using up the full bottle. Excited to layer this with warmer, richer notes as the weather gets colder.
