doomsday_disco Report post Posted June 1 It's actually really interesting and smells amazing. Trust me.
wilhelmscream Report post Posted June 18 Okay, so what does your brain imagine when you read those two scent notes? Because I picture a bowl of creamed corn with broken bits of a dark chocolate bar in it. Gross, right? Well, I'm relieved to report that isn't what I smell with this perfume at all! This is a rich, dark chocolate with a creamy, sort of salty, vegetal muskiness to it. It smells like something we'd release around Halloween, like some chocolate-dipped corn ear single note or something (do people eat those?). It has a Halloween festival/summer fair vibe with the blend of sweet and salty.
kittystryker Report post Posted June 30 This is such a fascinating perfume! I get the corn, but the dark chocolate adds a little bitterness to the sweet freshness of the corn. I can't stop sniffing it.
Jacquesroach Report post Posted July 1 keep in mind that my reviews for these are pretty fresh out the mail, but I feel a duty to get them out there! This scent is really nice. It’s predominantly chocolate - it actually reminds me a lot of the chocolate in the Black and White Cookie scent from NYCC a few years ago, but that one has a sweeter frosting edge, while this one has a fresher, toastier undertone. It’s not particularly creamy to me; it actually feels more like a dry ear of corn, or like the wind rushing through a corn maze. Quite cozy, would be nice for fall! brwnpaperhag Report post Posted July 2 I’ve come across many of bpal’s chocolates, and this one is a very dark, rich variant that is a realistic chocolate. There’s a salty sweet note that I can only say is the corn, and it gives the chocolate a really good finish - it could end on a bitter note, but the corn prevents it from doing that. It reminds me of a scratch and sniff chocolate sticker in the best way, I can’t stop huffing my wrist!
Zaani Report post Posted July 4 In the first few minutes, my brain bounced from buttery to boozy to cinnamon, all backed by the dark chocolate. It seems like it's landed on a sweet Mayan chocolate, with some moments of cinnamon roll here and there? At least that's how it's all reading to me!
OxfordComma Report post Posted July 22 This was the one I knew I was gonna end up bottling. It's CORN! And I do get corn... But more like corn pops! Combined with the chocolate this is both incredibly delicious and super pretty. I can totally see cinnamon roll/Mayan chocolate as well! This smells like fantastic bar of high percentage dark chocolate. And corn pops. Smitten. Great throw on me too.
splendidissima Report post Posted July 23 Okay, so...I opened this and got weird scent-flashbacks to...very early in my first BPAL go-round, like 20 years ago (gosh)...there was a Halloweenie...I believe a Trick Or Treat...that was meant to be candy corn, but on me smelled mostly like caramel corn. (Not at all a problem! I like caramel corn!) This is like...the updated, chocolate-ified version of that! By which I mean there is absolutely a sweet corn note - if you also liked Ceres ("billowing clouds of mallow flower, cream, and peonies, soft blushing amber, corn kernels, budding wheat, and spun sugar"), there's something of that in here, minus the peony and mallow - or some others with the classic BPAL 'sweet grains'. And that is layered with a rich dark chocolate - not too sweet, more molten (versus dry), like a really, really good gourmet chocolate bar, the kind that tells you to rub it lightly first to release the oils and warm it slightly, tangible, textural, sensual. Both notes go together beautifully, with a gorgeous balance of creamy sweet grains and bittersweet luxurious chocolate. Sadly, my skin just EATS this - I've had this happen with quite a few recently released BPALs, and I don't know if it's a Lab component thing, or the mid-40s Time O'Life Thing on my end. (I put on Millennial Pink this morning before teaching, though, and that one lasted for hours! - but then that one was always loud on me.) I put a fresh dab of CC&DC on while I started typing this review, and can barely smell it on my wrist now!
MRonHubbard Report post Posted 8 hours ago I don't smell corn; I smell Mexican hot chocolate with a little spice. 💚! A lot of people would love this. I've been using it especially at bedtime to soothe my brain, sometimes with Lush's (jasmine-scented) Silky Underwear powder.
