doomsday_disco Report post Posted December 2, 2025 A bloodless scent stitched together like delicate antique lace, with a hint of powdered violet, plum brandy, and gleaming aldehydes.
ghoulnextdoor Report post Posted January 5 Violet wallpaper in the hallway, plum velvet drapes in the parlor, lavender silk sheets on the bed. Lilac gloves laid out beside the mauve hatbox. An amethyst brooch pinned to her orchid-colored blouse. She arranges the iris-patterned teacups just so, checks her reflection in the mirror framed in wisteria wood. The aubergine carpet muffles her footsteps. In the kitchen, eggplant preserves gleam in glass jars on a pristine countertop Her tools rest in a mulberry-lined case: the No. 7 crochet hook polished to a shine, sharp as surgical steel but delicate as the hyacinth lace she crocheted last winter. She does beautiful work. Precise. You can barely see the hole hooked into the throat of the corpse on the floor. When she's finished, she washes up with thistle-scented soap, changes into her indigo dressing gown, and sits down to crochet something new. Maybe a shroud. VioletChaos Report post Posted 5 hours ago Given my handle, it will come as a shock to no one that violet scents are my jam. I'm quite picky about florals overall, but Violet, my dear Violet, she will always have a place in my collection, and this scent is no exception. Unlike many of the other Gorey scents, this one is a bit stronger. In the bottle, it's deceptively mild, a bit of Lace here, a bit of Aldehyde there, the violet a powdery whisper. Once on the skin, though, the real show begins, as the violet starts to show up as soon as she's warmed, and that continues all the way through dry down. This scent, because of the floral and aldehyde mix, might come across as more "perfume-y" than some other scents in the catalogue, even for a floral-forward scent. That said, it still does so with a special flare that only the Lab can pull off, and the poetic prose of the previous poster is apt for the vibes this scent provides, the notes painting a scene that is out of time but also of a very specific one- somewhere between the Victoriana feel of, say, Lady Lilith and the winking macabre of Arsenic and Old Lace. I am delighted to add this to my violet collection. The only question remaining is how many backups to obtain! 💜
