doomsday_disco Report post Posted August 21 These are dark times indeed... so here's a gourmand for the brooding scholar. The warm, nutty richness of roasted macadamia folded into the dry papery musk of time-worn tomes bound in crackled leather; golden drips of beeswax candlelight flicker against polished teakwood shelves, while the smoky warmth of fireplace smoke lingers in the air. (Nutty portmanteau absolutely intended. Don’t @ us.)
bheansidhe Report post Posted September 9 (edited) Sniffed: musty roasted nuttiness, hearth smoke, soft leather book bindings, and parchment paper notes. Applied: all of the above, plus pale, austere beeswax. There's a light sweetness that's distinctly beeswax and not a honey note. Wear: very true to the notes. The gourmand and hearth/library aspects are so interwoven that it's hard to call the blend desserty or pictorial or both. However you characterize it, it never loses the smokiness, but the gusts of sweetness vary from sweet wax to sweet wood resins to sugared, nutty biscotti. It stays low on the skin, but smoulders a long time. The final effect of the smoke reads like hearth tobacco and teakwood incense. superstarpanini Report post Posted October 16 This is such a lovely blend, sweet- but not much, papery, cozy fireplace reading vibes 100%. The woody notes come out once applied, but keeping that rich nuttyness in the background. All the notes are present, but playing with each other where one pokes out a bit more one moment, and then the next sniff I'm picking up another note at the forefront! After a few moments of drying down, I'm fully evoking a library brooding on my wrist. Love it and can't wait to let this one settle and age!
Amoraexcena Report post Posted yesterday at 05:38 AM I'm enjoying a rich, sweet macademia and honey nut bar while reading a leather-bound tome in a cozy, beeswax-candle-lit library. A very lovely fall gourmand, I can see why it sold out at Dragoncon! I try not to buy too many foodie or gourmand scents anymore because I truly have too many to use in my lifetime, but I'm glad I didn't pass this one up. Beautifully balanced, definitely a crowdpleaser.
