doomsday_disco Report post Posted June 3 Never forget that our classic Snake Oil perfume blend — usually so soft and versatile — is prepared to strike with deadly force. This brickified variation is deeper, earthier, and hissing with rage: vintage patchouli and aged vanilla absolute conspiring with vegetal musks and dark spices to defy the “Three-Article Rule”, tip over a paddy wagon, and make out in the streets. abejita Report post Posted June 7 Right out of the mailbox, this is BRICK snake. It’s almost all freshly cracked masonry in the height of summer heat, with the Snake Oil component evident, but not central. I think with aging, this will balance. The Snake Oil I can detect is very dark and rich.
doomsday_disco Report post Posted June 30 (edited) Brick Snek is mostly about the warm, soft, clay-like brick note mingling with the aged vanilla absolute and musks of the Snake Oil. I actually don't get much in the way of Snake Oil's spices or patch in this one, so I don't really find this one to be earthier or hissing with rage as per the description. In my Brick Single Note review, I mentioned that I get some orange blossom or neroli in the brick accord, which reminds me of the sharp version of the dead leaves accord that I've encountered in some dead leaves scents, and I totally get that in Brick Snek, too, especially after the scent has been on for several hours of wear. Although I enjoyed this the most out of the Brick by Brick collection, I don't think I need a whole bottle of this one, but I'll keep the decant around to see how it ages. groovyrooby Report post Posted July 11 (edited) Big win for this snek lover! It may be the orange blossom note that @doomsday_disco mentioned that makes this brick smell so floral to me. It's more a perfumey green start for me, but the clay of Life the Sculptor is there, too. I tested my blind bottle as soon as it arrived and then liberally dabbed on more for the evening. The other two recent snakes - Bouquet and In the Grass - didn't work well for me, but this is a delight! I am always surprised how much I enjoy a heavy scent like SO in steamy summertime, and I agree, the SO is not so obvious here, buried under clay and an earthy floral, so this snake wears exceptionally well for for summer, too. ETA that orange is coming across pleasantly bitter, too. Reminds me of blood orange rind in Perilous Garden but sweeter. I just keep reaching for this one!! Win! susietangwang Report post Posted Monday at 03:49 PM Okay, so I hesitated to try this one because it smells like green peppers in the bottle. I was worried for nothing because it changes into something much more appealing as soon as it's on skin (so I know lots of people get green pepper from some of the dead leaves note and while I can kind of see it - this smells much more green peppery than any dead leaves I've tried - and that would be a lot!). I also get the orange blossom and/or bitter orange peel vibe with a snake oil backdrop. I can see how this is a scent interpretation of a brick because it evokes an earthy clayiness. I am liking this one very much; it's interesting and huffable. Dries into a soft sweet cloud of what seems to me like vanilla and orange blossom with some light patchouli and clay. OxfordComma Report post Posted Monday at 08:23 PM Agreed on all the neroli/petitgrain/pepper vibes mentioned. Out of the gate, this was truly a brick to the face of STRONG bitter green scent with an orange blossom edge. After it's had time to get used to life in the AC, it's mellowed a bit. It's still got that neroli vibe, but the throw is very brick! Someone in one of the brick reviews said it smells like a wet brick, and that's what it immediately made me think of! I live in an old city, and some of our downtown streets are still brick roads, and this smells like rain steaming off those roads on a hot summer day. Plus neroli and a bit of SO, lol. It's a very 'mid-July in Florida' scent to me, and it really thrives in this heat. Oddly nostalgic, great cause, great name. Me gusta. ♡
