BPAL Madness!

And the weaver said, Speak to us of Clothes.

     And he answered:

Your clothes conceal much of your beauty, yet they hide not the unbeautiful.

And though you seek in garments the freedom of privacy you may find in them a harness and a chain.

Would that you could meet the sun and the wind with more of your skin and less of your raiment,

For the breath of life is in the sunlight and the hand of life is in the wind.

Some of you say, “It is the north wind who has woven the clothes we wear.”

And I say, Ay, it was the north wind,

But shame was his loom, and the softening of the sinews was his thread.

And when his work was done he laughed in the forest.

Forget not that modesty is for a shield against the eye of the unclean.

And when the unclean shall be no more, what were modesty but a fetter and a fouling of the mind?

And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.

Sunlight on skin: sweet amber, honey dust, golden sandalwood, and soft musk.

This starts a little perfumey and maybe a bit sour for a moment on me. I’m pretty sure it’s the lab’s honey dust note. At first, it’s worrying me because I feel like this might be a bottle fail, despite all the notes that are usually wins for me. But I should learn to have faith. Once it settles, it’s a lovely slightly sweet perfume with sandalwood and amber dancing in the background. The skin musk is more pronounced on me than normal, but I don’t mind. This is a nice, sexy scent. I think it will be seeing a lot of wear. Medium throw, long wear on me.

In The Bottle: Honey dust and musk, alllllll daaaaaaay :thud:

Wet On Skin: The amber starts to peek through, the honey takes a step back and the musk becomes more...syrupy? Like...there's no mention of maple syrup in the notes, and yet...

Dry Down: I can see what other folks have mentioned about this being one of those "your skin, but better" kinds of scents. It's clearly a presence on me, and it's lovely, but it's also incredibly unobtrusive and strangely defying of description. Like, I know all those notes I picked out are in here still, but I don't think I could pick any out now, which is a testament to the incredibly well-blended nature of the fragrance.

In All: Very low throw, as befits a "skin scent". I can see wearing this on a first date to amplify my own natural scent, and I can also see wearing this just for me, because there's something incredibly comfy and familiar here, like being entirely at ease in one's own skin. ❤️
