Vaudenilla Report post Posted January 9 Hey yall! I’m obsessed with Nag Champa. I burn it a lot, along with sandalwood and frank, but I’ve got scents for those- it’s nag champa I’m after!! Thanks so much!! Share this post Link to post
neptuneanblues Report post Posted January 9 I usually see Urd recommended for this. Share this post Link to post
forspecial_plate Report post Posted January 30 Urd, I agree with this one! The Caterpillar, but be aware it has jasmine too Madame Moriarty, I used to think this smelled like a freshly lit incense stick so I wanted to mention it here Temple Viper, if it ever comes back in stock, would be worth a try, it might be a little more frankincense heavy than you're looking for but it's a sugared frankincense and oh so good. Midnight On the Midway, the old formula was very much sugared incense on me, but the newer formula is a little more sweet musk. Still it could be worth a try! Scherezade - again, might be more musk but still could be worth a shot Share this post Link to post
Vaudenilla Report post Posted January 30 I recently grabbed a bottle of midnight on the midway! Madame moriarty is on my to-buy list as well as… 50 million other things! Thank you guys so much for the recs!! Share this post Link to post
artisjok Report post Posted January 30 Keep an eye on the Shunga collection when they release soon (within the Lupers, the lab’s Valentine collection) There might be a good one or so in there! And there will be decanters, if you don’t want to blind bottle. Share this post Link to post
Vaudenilla Report post Posted January 30 Oh lovely thank you!! I’m super excited for the luper release! I’ve seen some people posting in the “decant circle” threads for the LA wildfire release, so I’m a little familiar with that and might hit one up! I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for my beloved Nag Champa… or champaca, which smells super similar to me!! Share this post Link to post
tarz Report post Posted April 1 I recently bought an imp of Tiefling Therapist and would add this one to the list of ones to try! I have a full bottle in the mail as we speak! Share this post Link to post
Vaudenilla Report post Posted April 2 Beautiful thank you for the recc!!! I adore the RPG collection bc I fuckin’ adore DnD, so any time I get to purchase from it to fulfill a specific scent goal… I do a lil happy dance. Share this post Link to post
patina Report post Posted April 2 Seconding Urd for strong grape champa and if you see Snooty Bat on the sales page, that might be good. Especially if you'd like something sweet with clove. Currently Goose Moon has a duet that is just Nag Champa and White Gardenia Share this post Link to post
sunshinedaisybliss Report post Posted April 3 @Vaudenilla I would recommend Blacklight Reactive Poster – nag champa, patchouli, and weed smoke. Reviews here: My bottles (yes, plural.. for me it’s hoard-worthy!!) are from the original release, so they’re well aged by now, and the nag champa is *chef’s kiss*. The weed smoke is there, but it’s not strong enough to get you arrested on suspicion of having just smoked a big fat doob, and the patchouli is warm and lovely. It’s a beauty if you love that true nag champa smell – it may be a bit on the harder to find side now, but you should be able to track down a decant to try 🙂 Share this post Link to post
Vaudenilla Report post Posted April 3 Oh my goodness. Thank you for the rec, @sunshinedaisybliss that looks like the exact thing I want!! I’ll keep my eyes peeled for a bottle! Share this post Link to post
RoseThornAndOak Report post Posted April 3 (edited) I found a lovely one at Maryland Renaissance Faire! They are called Silk Road Traders and also do custom blends. They did a Tonka, Wisteria, and Nag Champa for me and it is divine! Their straight up Nag champs is gorgeous. For BPAL, Charcoal, Champaca Resin, and Tobacco Absolute is 100% chef's kiss. An Opiate Vapor is not 100% champy, but it's got swag! Hexennacht's Spirit Temple is also soo soo good along with Champanilla. You might also like dragon's blood anything by Sunrise Soap Co, it came across champy to me! Edited to note they also have a Nag Champa scent. Theyre both champy! I've got the Goose Moon Nag Champa & Gardenia duet coming in the mail as well as the Jasmine and Champaca one, here's hoping they're lovely! The Forest Floor Report post Posted July 29 I’m surprised no one has mentioned Seth yet. I get serious nag champa from Seth, in the best way! It’s so good. Share this post Link to post
sudenmorsian Report post Posted Monday at 05:39 PM This might be a foolish question, forgive me, I'll explain! I really like nag champa incense and burn it a lot. I'm not familiar with BPAL's nag champa note, but I've found out that champaca note doesn't act well with my skin chemistry, and it becomes something I almost loathe. How similar or different are those two notes, nag champa and champaca? How would you describe those two in perfume oils? Share this post Link to post
Assimbya Report post Posted Monday at 05:52 PM I don't think this is silly at all! I think it's one of those places where the similarity of the names gets very confusing, and I was lost for a while too. I don't find the two notes very similar at all, though I have much more experience with champaca in BPAL scents than nag champa, because I seek out florals and not so much incense blends. Champaca is a magnolia-like white floral (a couple months ago I smelled one of the flowers in a greenhouse which also clarified this for me!), and nag champa as a note reads like sandalwood incense. sudenmorsian Report post Posted Tuesday at 06:09 AM Thank you Assimbya, I'm relieved. I've been aware that they are two different things, but I've heard that some people find them similarish. I've been avoiding nag champa note because of that, but now I think I have to give it a chance. Share this post Link to post
RoseThornAndOak Report post Posted Tuesday at 06:13 PM (edited) @Assimbya pretty much nailed it @sudenmorsian. Champaca - reads like a big white floral, a bit nocturnal, can be powdery, with a bit of incense in the wind, but not smoky. It has a depth to it that some florals don't have. Champaca comes off as pretty, sexy, and glamourous to me. Nag champa - somewhat musky, dry incense dust that can have a powdery element but is much less floral. It can sometimes read a bit floral, but I feel like it has even more dimension than champaca as it usually has magnolia champaca and/or fragingpani, and sandalwoods in it's composition. Nag champa comes off as nostalgic, arcane, and mysterious. Edited Tuesday at 06:17 PM by RoseThornAndOak Share this post Link to post
