Petrichor

Petrichor is the smell of rain hitting dry earth and is one of the most universally beloved scents in the world. It's cool and green, with a deep, almost mineral dampness underneath, like wet clay or stone that's been sitting in the sun. There's something alive in it too: a faint earthiness that comes from the soil itself, mossy and organic, with a clean freshness that feels like the air has been completely renewed. It's neither sweet nor sharp, but inhabits a soft, grey-green space that feels both ancient and immediate.

My imp arrived the other day, and I can never let anything rest for too long so I'm testing it today. I'm not feeling very descriptive today so I'm sorry if this isn't very helpful. 

 

First impression is that this has to be a note that's in one of my favorite atmo sprays, Skoocoom House, even though petrichor is not listed in that description. But the chill of damp mossy ancient stone is what I get here. I think it's the perfect single note for petrichor!

This is surprisingly green on first applying, which must be the moss mentioned in the description.  It reminds me of a note in the Lilith "Dancing on Tombs". It morphs into what my brain thinks of as petrichor-  the smell of rain on earth and stone.  It is beautiful and extremely long lasting.  After enjoying it solo for several hours, I applied a rose perfume on top without reapplying the petrichor- by the end of the day, the rose was gone and the petrichor still remained.

cool and very green, with "stone" mineral, almost a "cleaner" scent. Yes gray-green space. I'm sad there's No earthiness, which is what I love most about what post-rain smells like in real life

 

lasts all day. a little goes a LONG way - strong throw with just a test on one wrist. That amount fades down over the day to less noticeable unless I sniff my wrist, but then it's still very clear

I get an aquatic scent. 
 Watery green apples? Not green apple candy, actual apples. There is a sort of soggy moss/sediment beneath but this is primarily aquatic

This smells nice, but it doesn't smell like the scent you get when it's about to rain -- rather, it smells like the scent you get after it has already rained.

 

I get a really good rain note that I think might be the same one from Waiting 2016. The rain is accompanied by a smidge of dirt that's quick to fade, a bit of moss, and a little stone -- but it's not as prominent as the asphalt note in Waiting 2016.

 

Although this doesn't remind me of actual petrichor, I do appreciate the scent and will keep the imp around to try layering it with other scents and wear next time there's a rainy day in the desert.
