BPAL Madness!

Recommended Posts

We’re all desperate for something light and uplifting here at BPAL, so this year’s Beev is a zingy key lime cheesecake with a whisper of lime sugar.

Lime usually vanishes on me, which is a shame because I LOVE the Lab's lime. But something about the cheesecake note anchors it and I get to smell citrusy and light and it's just what I need!

I know key lime isn't the limiest lime to ever lime, it's a sweet little guy, and I think that comes through in this year's Beaver Moon. it's wrapped up nicely in the usual superb tangy cheesecake that we know and love with a nice big dose of gourmand vanilla, and I am getting a good bit of graham cracker crust in there as well.

interestingly the lime blossom and amber sugar duet seems to feature a citrusy lime note more prominently, and it almost contrasts with the "parent" blend rather than accentuating or complementing it.

I was hoping that this would be like a mashup of Key Lime Pie and OG Beaver Moon (two of my favorite bpals), but it starts off as cinnamon sugar & a whiff of lime jello and then dries down to a weak, waxy vanilla candle with a hint of cinnamon on me.  It leans very plasticy, sour, and a little burnt, and it gives very cheap vanilla oil to my nose.  It doesn't have a lot of throw, though, and only lasts about an hour before I can't smell it anymore.  This is my least favorite Beaver Moon, which really surprises and disappoints me.  The lime doesn't stick around at all and the vanilla-y portion smells off to me.

In the bottle and when initially applied, the Key Lime note is most evident. I'm not super into standard lime notes on their own, but I often like when they are paired with something else (One of my all-time favorite BPALs is Tarot: The Star, which is all lime and coconut on me.) Key lime is less abrasive and a more mellow citrus overall, and that really comes through here.

Once it settled into my skin, the classic Beaver Moon cheesecake note popped out, as beloved as ever. The combination of the two delivered as promised in the description. Even hours later, a nice quiet version of the scent remains, and I'm really pleased to add this to my vast Beaver Moon collection!

In all: low-medium throw and a nice twist on a popular standard. If you're a fan of the Beaver Moons of yesteryear, definitely grab this one to keep the party going. 💚
