wilhelmscream Report post Posted August 12 Picture it: Late May 1995. I'm six years old. Me, my friend Alex and his mother go to see Casper in theatres and afterwards, we go to Pizza Hut. It is my first time in a Pizza Hut, or at least my first actual memory inside a Pizza Hut. In conjunction with the film, Pizza Hut has all these tie-in goodies with the film, like collectible plastic cups and glow-in-the-dark hand puppets of Casper and his uncles (of course I wanted the worlds friendliest ghost and ended up with Uncle Fatso). For years and years, even looking at that giant plastic cup or my ghostly hand puppet would conjure up that incredible smell in my mind. This duet... smells like those first steps inside that restaurant. It is such a completely uncanny and transportive scent. In contrast with the Hungry Ghost Moon perfume, this smells more directly like pizza than some spooky pizza party seance. This is the real deal. It's warm and savory and chewy. It is completely intoxicating. As a perfume, it's certainly a choice, and not really open to a lot of interpretation. Undeniably herbs and bread! But damn, is it yummy! Geminirubyshoes Report post Posted August 19 My review is not as in depth as the one above but holy shit, I’ve never worn a savory perfume in my life and I’m obsessed with this. It doesn’t change on the skin, it’s literally warm chewy/crusty pizza crust brushed with olive oil and oregano. It’s got that salty slightly yeasty tang with the oregano spice coming through. My dog keeps trying to lick my wrist. If it’s wrong to be laying in bed smelling like pizza crust perfume, I never want to be right.
patina Report post Posted September 23 (edited) Pizza crust. I can even smell the cornmeal on the bottom to stop it from sticking. I can smell places where it’s slightly but not quite burnt. I can smell a thin ring of tomato sauce around the edge. my skin seems to eat this which is a shame because it’s surprisingly wearable. All sweet yeasty salty olive oil bread and herbs without notable garlic, yet still smelling like pizza. I smell delicious and I don't want to be right either. bheansidhe Report post Posted Wednesday at 04:33 PM (edited) I love this so much that I bought two bottles, and am strongly contemplating a third. I love this so much that I put a tester of it in every package I mailed out in August and September, just so I could spread the word to those who might otherwise overlook it. The first time I opened my decant of Oven-Warm Pizza Crust and Oregano, I put it on my wrist, left my office, got in my car, braved midtown Atlanta during rush hour, and drove to Antico Pizza Napoletana -- one of the few pizzerias in the USA that is a rated as a notable destination BY ITALIAN FOOD CRITICS -- and wolfed down half a Margherita D.O.P. I smelled exactly like the yeasty dough - sea salt, yeast, and imported San Felice flour - slathered in Peitro Coricelli EVOO, not so much baking as effervescing in the custom stone ovens (built from actual volcanic rock sourced from Mt. Vesuvius). My friends, THAT was the exact impression conveyed by this perfume. I have never had such a strong Pavlovian response to any scent, ever. Lavender Rosemary Baguette taught me to love bread perfumes, but I figured I could never use a whole bottle. Lavender Avocado Toast expanded my savory bread perfume repertoire, but remained an amusing spin-off to my collection. Now Oven-Warm Pizza Crust and Oregano has confirmed that bread is a key vowel in my personal perfume syllabary. superstarpanini Report post Posted 20 hours ago I once fell in love with a bread candle. I eat pizza about once a week in my busy season, lazy nights, so much easier than cooking in. All my home cooking, as well as my pizza, gets a generous amount of oregano. I wanted this one to be a hit, but I may need to either learn to love over time, or accept this is just an open and sniff bottle for me. The first time I opened my bottle, I said out loud, oh helllll yes. This hits. As soon as I plopped some on my skin though... bursting with nauseating yeast?! I don't really get the oregano, just pungent and super sour yeasty dough. I don't think my skin chemistry liked it one bit. I could barely smell it for a couple weeks without recoiling, so sad as I had such high hopes! Luckily there's always another to try hehe
