doomsday_disco Report post Posted July 21 Kite and Two Crows is mostly about the rain-soaked leaves on me, and the leaves are a fresh, green variety -- there are no dead leaves to be found here! This is backed by the woods and resins, as well as some dry tea. I do get a bit of smokiness from the cedar note, but it's not overly smoky -- there's just a touch of smoke that is present in the early drydown of the scent, but the smokiness doesn't last long beyond that. This has good throw and staying power, and it reads as fresh, but also somewhat cologne-like, to my nose. I don't feel the need to upgrade this one to a bottle, but if you're looking for rain-soaked leaves, this scent has got you covered!
forspecial_plate Report post Posted August 10 This is really nice! It goes on almost soapy but not quite - just on the edge of soapy, maybe the leaves? But then the tea note comes in and whatever was soapy fades back. I agree it has a cologne-like aspect. Eventually the woods come through stronger and I'm getting a seaside feeling I wasn't expecting, kind of like the lab's cypress note that turns up in some oceanic scents. But mostly this is in the same general family as Autumn Sun I, Autumn Landscape with Flock of Turkeys, and also October 32, from memory. Might have to do some death-matching but I love all these scents and each one has its own little differences, so I'm happy to wear all of them, from spring all the way up to late fall. puellacaerulea Report post Posted August 24 This one's a morpher! On application, it starts out heavy on the myrrh and black tea -- heavy, sweetly resinous, a bit astringent. At this stage, it puts me mind of Thunder Moon from a few years ago. As it wears, the woods come out more and the heavy resinous notes settle down. The rain and leaves never really assert themselves that much -- my post-drydown impression is soft woods with hints of resins in the background. Gonna skip a bottle of this, but will hold onto my decant.
sudenmorsian Report post Posted Thursday at 06:28 AM Yup, seconding the previous review, this one's a morpher! And such an interesting scent it is. Based on notes I shouldn't care for this one but I found it surprisingly wearable. I can't stand dead or fallen leaves and I'm not into aquatics at all but it seems that rain-soaked leaves is a different thing. At first when wet those rain-soaked leaves is the most prominent note with black tea. I don't understand how Beth does it, but this scent encapsulates perfectly the feeling of rain! During drydown resins and wood gets stronger, I'm not getting smoke at all but cedar is noticeable. Dry this is more like traditional perfume or cologne, resiny but kinda sweetish and bright. And I can smell it on my skin 12 hours later. This is a work of art, especially for the feelings. I don't need a full bottle but I'm happy with my decant.
