BPAL Madness!

Recommended Posts

Peonies and poppies are two of my favorite May flowers, and all the more so now that we’ve moved to Philadelphia, where you see them in countless gardens. Continuing with the theme of serpents making their way through urban landscapes, I’ve created something for myself that I want to share – a Snake Oil-infused bouquet of poppies, peonies, melancholy heartsease, and the last bruised winter hellebores dusted with sandalwood and bound with a vanilla-white silk ribbon.

At first whiff, I thought there must be carnation in here because it immediately reminded me of Shelley, Byron, and Keats. But I forgot about poppies! So poppy party, a hint of the sweet-tart vibe I always get from peonies, and ofc Snake Oil. It actually does remind me quite a bit of SB&K + SO, which I am very OK with because I adore both.  Another lovely Snake for my floral Snake brigade! 🐍💐

This is… Fine.

I love all things Snake Oil and if I hadn’t tried Serpents in the Carnations/Lilacs/Poppies, I would love this more, I think.

The SO feels much subtler in this blend than the Serpents in the Carnations/Lilacs/Poppies, which may be great for some folks. Instead, I find I’m reaching for the Snake Oil to layer on top of this scent.

If you’re NOT a huge SO fan, this might be the floral SO blend for you!

Perfection, and I think it's the sandalwood that really ties this scent together. Sugared, airy flowers are bound with a small hint of coolness from the white silk ribbon. Not at all melancholy to me! I can see this being a wonderful wedding scent as it is more quietly pretty than most of the other Snake Oil variants. Glinda The Good Witch's signature scent, most likely. Very much hope this becomes a permanent member of the catalog.
