tigermilking Report post Posted May 31 Buttery sunscreen! Buttery sunscreen. I keep smelling my arm and sighing sadly because it's buttery sunscreen.
roseus Report post Posted June 17 The coconut is very strong in the bottle and on wet, it's a very (for lack of a better word) fruity coconut- more Obatala than Coconut Meat SN. I gets both the obvious coconut cream smell, and the smell of coconut water. Like how coconut water has that slight faintly bitter greeeness to it? It is very pleasant and true to life, not too sweet and doesn't pull suncreeny on me. As it dries down I get a gorgeous starchy rice note.
topazphoenix Report post Posted June 25 (edited) To me it smells like I'm eating a bowl of Tom Kha at my favorite Thai restaurant, with some rice on the side. The rice is very faint. Edited 2 hours ago by topazphoenix
groovyrooby Report post Posted July 11 THIS conjured up one intense food memory!! Took me a minute to place it, but I finally got there. A college friend from Singapore's amazing yellow curry! He used to make it in mass quantities, his grandma's recipe, and I've never had another yellow curry like it since. But this is the distinct coconut milk base (he was super particular about no additives in his coco milk) with cellophane noodles. To me, this is a more savory than sweet coconut, and it's fantastic. I am also a huge fan of The Jeweled Spider, and this strikes me as a similar vibe, though far less complicated and much lighter than that blend. Still a tinge sweet, but nothing like the toasted coconut or sunscreen I often get from coconut notes. What a treat!
KarenWalker Report post Posted yesterday at 08:23 PM (edited) The scent I was most excited for from this lunacy. This is not a sweetened coconut milk; this is the coconut milk you put in your curry recipe. The rice reads slightly more jasmine rice than the other specific jasmine rice scent. It’s creamy and buttery and on me, not sunscreen. As a massive coconut lover, I’m happy. I matched this up with my very aged Obatala imp and found this one to be more pure coconut. I’m currently deeply torn on if I’m upgrading to a bottle, because I really enjoy this, but perhaps I can find my true love coconut elsewhere? Is this special enough when I'm not getting as much rice as I'd like? Halp. ~~Update~~ I layered this today with Jasmine Rice & White Musk and it is utterly divine. All of the four prescribed notes become more prominent. Edited 3 hours ago by KarenWalker New combo
auraysu Report post Posted 8 hours ago (edited) It's not very buttery to me, but the coconut is 'cold' and isn't warm like a lot of coconut notes. I agree that it's like the coconut milk you use for cooking, it hasn't been sweetened. I can kind of see the sunscreen comparison, the rice is recognizably steamed rice but I think how it mixes with the coconut could have veered into sunscreen territory if my brain didn't make the connection to coconut rice dishes. It really does make me think of thai curry or adjacent dishes (sans spices). Edited 6 hours ago by auraysu
