BPAL Madness!

Recommended Posts

A leathered up, musky interpretation of BPAL’s Antique Lace: dry flowers, aged linens, and the faint breath of long-faded perfumes with well-worn leather and caramel musk.

(goblin sniff, ie fresh from the mail) (note that i am not acquainted with the original or resurrected antique lace) it smells as lovely as i thought it would be in the bottle, delicate vanilla and caramel! and a slight twinge of worn leather. the vanilla in here isn't gossamer i would say but it's very close, this is the sort of lovingly handwoven lace you would find in a chest in your attic, rather than a sheer bridal veil that i describe pierrot's stardust motel is similar to. i can already tell that i will love this scent! i'm glad that i blind bought this, and i have another one on the way

Testing the 2025 edition of Batty Lace: This is only the second lace scent I’ve tried, and I was expecting a version of the “cloud of french vanilla ice cream” that is the 2017 resurrected version of Antique Lace on me, but this is gentle and subdued. It reminds me of a softer and more feminine version of The Bow and Crown of Conquest (which also has vanilla and leather). The leather is a warm brown suede that stays firmly in the background and there’s a toasty brown sugar note that must be the caramel musk.

That said, all the above is how it smells on my skin. On my hair, the soft brown sugar/suede is just a supporting player and the dominant note is a kind of dusty attic scent that must the “dried flowers and aged linens.”

2025 version.

Ohhhh this is lovely and exacly what I expected. In the bottle it's kinda scary - there's a linnen ish-edging-on-zesty mix in there alongs that's quite wild within the bottle, but it calms down on the skin thankfully.

There is something in here i can vaguely describe as "soapy", but it's more of a clean-nondescript soapy if that's any help. It really otherwise is like a faded somewhat nostalgic scent of time and fragrance past. A sepia-tinted vortex to days of old. The caramel musk stands out above all and is absolutely delicious.

First time I put this on was when I got my new stuff in the mail and was already wearing Pumpkin spice hot buttered rum (and couldn't help trying this on on top of that) - and I can report that they go very well together!  :smilenod:
