superstarpanini Report post Posted November 1 Mictecacihuatl... Oh, you have stumped me. In the bottle, this one is straight up SCARY to me. The first couple weeks I received this one, I could only take a half whiff before quickly closing the bottle, it still lingering around me. She is strong asf! Now that I am brave enough to try it out, I am most of all interested to see how this ages. I can sense a depth that the woods and tobacco will gain with time, and am gonna foremost practice my patience. I mostly get a hard hit of the agave, wet, sticky, enveloping. Then I get the tobacco. Also almost wet. Like a tobacco leaf wrapper, juuuust licked a second ago to create a fresh roll.. Of whatever you may like to bring as an offering for your loved ones passed. There may be woods and roses hidden here, but they are so well slathered in this thick agave, dripping onto the altar. It's a bit of a love hate scent for me, and I will keep trying her.
bunnicula Report post Posted Tuesday at 06:26 AM 2025 Version This is a very woody scent, I smell the copal, woods, and tobacco when first applied. As it dries down further, there is this watery green veil over those dry woody notes, which must be coming from the agave nectar and just a touch of stemmy rose, without being too floral. That veil of refreshing green grows thicker through wear time until it's like 40% cooling green and 60% warm, dry and spiced woodiness. It morphs a lot though, the two scent profiles dueling for dominance, or maybe dancing together, the strength of each's presence flitting in and out.
Dormouse Report post Posted yesterday at 08:02 PM 2008 and 2025 versions. I adore the 2008 version. It’s light wet rose with a hint of sweetness and something warm and delicately spicy. Quite similar to Day of the Skulls which I also love. The 2025 version is heavily sweet and spicy, almost exactly like Sugar Skull. I’m getting booze soaked dried fruit, sticky toffee and burnt sugar. In fact it’s so similar I’m wondering if there was a mix up at the Lab.
LavenderCoffee Report post Posted yesterday at 08:45 PM I have cherished the 2019 version of Mictecacihuatl and I am surprised I never reviewed it! (Copal, precious woods, warm spices, agave nectar, cigar tobacco, and roses.) in the bottle it's quite an intoxicating potion, sweet and dark, and this stays true for the initial application of the oil on my skin. as it warms up the tobacco and copal really pop and the scent develops a rich golden quality. I feel like it used to have a bit more rose to it, but apparently I've had this six whole years now?! I do get a scattering of mature petals once the oil dries. it's as if you could take a whole altar, top to table legs, and process it into a rich paste to paint on your skin for a ceremony. I love it so much.
