Strawberry Moon: Blackberries and Coconut Cream Lotion

Recommended Posts

I've tried a few lotions now and am very happy with the texture, as well as the throw and the staying power of the scents.

this one is definitely berries and cream, though I don't get any coconut

soft with staying power, I notice it when my hands move near my face

This reads as a candy-like blackberry scent to me, like a fruity taffy. Imagine there were a blackberry-flavored Mamba or Starburst. It would smell like that. It's not a fresh blackberry, nor is it the wonderful baked blackberry of Four and Twenty Blackbirds. I don't get any coconut from this on my skin, but I'm fine with that.

I like the scent and will keep my little sample pot and use it up, but I don't think I need a full bottle of this one since I don't really have a lot of scents that would go with this.

I really like the texture of the Lab's lotions. The two I have are heavy winter-forward scents, so I was excited to snag this to have something more delicately fragranced for the warmer months. The combo is light and balanced. I agree the blackberry is more candy-like, and I think it's also made more so by the coconut, which is a delicately sugared variety- it's not suntan lotion and it's also not the more raw kind in a scent like Obatala. This is like the nice desiccated coconut you top a fluffy cake with. The scent isn't overly foodie, it's exactly what I hoped it would be in terms of saturation.

I layered a tiny bit of its Strawberry Moon companion into it, just to see how the scents work together and it's all really lovely- nothing becomes too overpowering: it's an appropriate variety of scent layering, and I could see pairing these two in the future. I have quite a few blackberry-forward scents that I can definitely see pairing with this lotion as well. I don't have as many coconut scents, but I don't know that I would be apt to layer those anyway as they tend me be more of the rich-coconut varieties and I think this lotion's scent would get lost in the shuffle.
