doomsday_disco Report post Posted October 1 There is a recurrent spot where the pattern lolls like a broken neck and two bulbous eyes stare at you upside-down. I get positively angry with the impertinence of it and the everlastingness. Up and down and sideways they crawl, and those absurd, unblinking eyes are everywhere. There is one place where two breadths didn’t match, and the eyes go all up and down the line, one a little higher than the other. Indolic jasmine glaring through a haze of tobacco yellow and stained lace.
Invidiana Report post Posted October 19 This is heady, indolic jasmine in full bloom, with an intensity that reflects the glare of eyes watching you from every direction. Jasmine unfurls its petals right away. Over time, the indole softens and gives way to gauzy tobacco and vanillic lace, though it still remains an intoxicating white floral dominated by jasmine. A Recurrent Spot, like the story it is inspired by, is beautifully intense but definitely not for the faint-hearted.
wilhelmscream Report post Posted November 14 Okay, so that bombastic jasmine (complimentary) takes a while to settle down, but once it does and the tobacco and lace get to shine, this is a really incredible blend. Murky, hazy, mysterious, delicate. Definitely my favorite of this collection!
bunnicula Report post Posted November 15 Jasmine soap at first, and then the yellow tobacco smoke creeps in, staining the jasmine, muddying its high-pitched heady-ness, and adding a bit of musty earthiness to it. The suffocating nature of an old, musty yellow room. I do not really get any stained lace at first, which was the note I was most excited for, so I wouldn't suggest this to people hoping for a Lace-adjacent blend. However, over time, this musty jasmine-tobacco blend develops a creamy coating that brings to mind a musty and decaying linen cloth, stained yellow and brown. Like soft damp decaying burlap or cheesecloth.
LavenderCoffee Report post Posted yesterday at 07:30 PM if you enjoy the lab's headier jasmine notes, this one is gorgeous! and as you get deeper into the weartime, jasmine graciously allows a tattered vanillic element to emerge. it's not unlike a scenario in which the Black Butterfly Moon: Vanilla and Tobacco Flower duet got papered over with jasmine, they smell like siblings to me. I really like it.
