doomsday_disco Report post Posted September 11 the butterfly having disappeared my spirit came back to me — Wafū, trans. R. H. Blyth Wings unfolding in darkness, an echo of silence, the softest flutter, and then gone. Shadow-dappled tuberose and black orchid, buffeted by crumpled violet leaves and ink-dipped tea roses. A glint of obsidian musk slinks beneath, woven with scorched vanilla resin, dusty myrrh, and the faintest touch of crushed blackberry skin.
AnOfferingToTheNight Report post Posted September 27 (edited) This one is quite the shifter! Fresh from the bottle the blackberry skin and rose are front and center but very quickly the other florals come out to play. After about 20 minutes it settled into this really nice, soft, kind-of inky(?) sweetness that is so subtle and just absolutely gorgeous. Decent throw too. The dust in the "dusty myrrh" note is definitely a soft, whispery type of dust, rather than a dry dust. If I was a chinchilla this is what I would want my dust bath to smell like! Update: After roughly an hour it turned to pure powder with that faintest memory of what it was. Very fitting! wilhelmscream Report post Posted October 2 I second that, I'm having a very similar journey with mine. Quite the shifter! This scent begins with a heavy darkness. Damp florals lurking in the rainy shadows. Very moody! But then it... changes! The blackberry, vanilla and myrrh begin to rise through the watercolor floral haze. And after a while, it shifts into a crumbly blackberry incense. And then it's just like, barely there. Dusty, soft, ghostly.
VioletChaos Report post Posted 12 hours ago I am thirding that this scent is a morpher to be sure! Even so, the vibe remains the same throughout the journey, which is what I was hoping for. I'm not always friends with florals OR with myrrh, but I just had a feeling that this would be an exception, and I was right. At its heart BBM is a dark, juicy, vampish, goth-girl scent. I picture my 19-year-old self, with meticulously applied eyeliner, having a fun night of drama and dancing at a club in L.A. with all my friends...but also the remnants clinging to my skin when I crawl into bed just before dawn, cozying up for sleep and gorgeous, gothy dreams. 🦇 The tuberose and black orchid are definitely the stars throughout, but this isn't a straight floral scent- the myrrh and vanilla provide a grounded-ness to the scent, with the other listed notes coming in for visits, leaving, and coming back, repeatedly. Not only was this a blind-buy, but I was so certain it would be grand that I got a backup to boot- and I'm glad I did, as I know this will get even better with age.
