Puce Dragon

A fussy, irritable, irascible dragon with a taste for drama, velvet throw pillows, cryptic social media posts, ink-smeared burn books, biting commentary, and vintage clothing with a past. Its scales are the color of dried blood, old bruises, clove-spiked pomegranate, aged patchouli, and vermouth.

Wet:  Immediate burst of patchouli that quickly dissipates.

 

Dry: Bright pomegranate, herbs (I'm guessing that's the vermouth), and what I think is dragon's blood or red musk (sweet, earthy/woody).  Clove tends to scream on me and it's MIA.

 

Very dry: Pomegranate.

 

I'd liken it to Pomegranate, Spicy Geranium, Black Musk, and Peach Pulp for the pomegranate and musk/musk-adjacent notes bit it's lacking sweetness or flower-based "spice."

 

I feel like I can't smell it anymore, which usually means my skin is eating it or it's about to smack someone in the face 10 ft away from me.  We'll find out.

Oh, Puce, what a fussy creature you are. 
This was one of the risky buys from DragonCon for me, but, after hearing Tom’s live review, I was intrigued & hoped for the best. 
 

Truly, the impression of being in someone else’s home/space is on point, like the smells of their draperies and packed bookshelves and couches, all permeated with “lived-in” essence. Not stinky, but personal. 
I feel like there’s a fabric note, as well.  
 

The pomegranate is what actually throws the experience for me. I’m sitting here in this pleasent living space, trying to absorb the details, and Pom is just obnoxiously bopping itself right in the middle of my vision. It’s does that pomegranate thing, where it turns into a powdery sweettart and overtakes the scene.
Interestingly, the other notes do hold on around the edges, so if pom plays nice for 

you, it will probably be just fine. 
I wish the patchouli was a lot louder, but it’s a smooth ol’ dog, napping on the floor. 

 

This risk didn’t play out in my favor, but the journey was a unique one, and I’m glad we met, Puce Dragon.

This was a very rapidly-shifting scent for me. I had pretty high hopes based on the description and listed notes, but alas, it went downhill quickly with my skin chemistry. In the bottle, I got the fruity pomegranate and a little of the patchouli, but once applied to my skin, most of that faded off rapidly, and was replaced by an ever-increasing dominance of what I believe must be the vermouth note as it's the only one in the mix I had no prior experience with. Upon total dry-down, I'm left with being in a goth kid's messy room...while they're touching up their roots with a box jet-black hair dye.

Atmospheric, to be sure, but alas, not what I want to smell like.
