    Gingerbread Poppet Soap

GINGERBREAD POPPET And he ran till he came across a fox, and to him he called out: I've run away from a little old woman, A little old man, A barn full of threshers, A field full of mowers, A cow and a horse, And I can run away from you, I can! Then the fox set out to run. Now foxes can run very fast, and so the fox soon caught the gingerbread boy and began to eat him up. Presently the gingerbread boy said, "Oh dear! I'm quarter gone!" And then, "Oh, I'm half gone!" And soon, "I'm three-quarters gone!" And at last, "I'm all gone!" and never spoke again. Brown sugar, molasses, ginger, cinnamon, clove, raisin, orange zest, and a little frosting. Oh, I love this soap. it's warm and cozy, without any of the cinnamon burn I was expecting (my skin is randomly sensitive to cinnamon). The scent didn't last much beyond the shower, but it was a pleasant, happy experience. Literally, like throwing a bunch of gingerbread men in your tub while you shower. I find the actual gingerbread poppet oil a little bit stronger, but since I want to be able to put oils on after the shower without my toiletry interfering with my scents, I'm rather glad this doesn't last. Worth at least buying a bar, and for myself, I think I'll have to pick up one or two extra to get my through this chilly winter. A happy scent that reminds me of the warm kitcheny scents of winter.

    scents for teen boy

RPG is a good start because they are very basic scents that can kind of be a gateway to layering/exploring perfume. I would also recommend Cyborg from the Grendel series: leather, metal, and bay rum, or maybe a few from the Illyria would work. Titus, and Anthony come to mind.
  3. an NYCC LE I love which totally smells like a wonderful forest is Mount Misery and Sweet Hollow Roads.

    Yule Buddies

On my skin, this is pure tobacco. Sweet and tangy, but def smells like the inside of an unlit pipe. On my hair, the gingerbread comes out, and it becomes a spicey sweet mix. Hoping the fruitcake will show a bit more with age, but right now it's amazing! These are buds I want to hang out with.

    Hallow-e’en, 1914

I wore this one for Halloween night because it went well with my costume. I was in full Victorian Gothic with very pale makeup, a black veil over my hair, and dead flowers. My husband called the costume "widow's weeds" so I figured this scent would go well with the look. Now, it worked perfectly with the look of my costume, but it is not a smell I would normally wear. I got a lot of dirt, old green leaves, and traces of something dark and dusty. It was a perfectly spooky dirt scent, but normally I am not one for that. I'll keep the imp for when I need it in costumes, but all that dirt was too much for me,

    The Bear in the Cellar

Tried this on my husband because it smelt a bit too masculine in the bottle for me. It's AMAZING on him. Warm leathery-tobaccoy with a sweet undercurrent, totally sexy. And according to him, it smells like "leather, wet grass, and sweet corn."

    Leather

Paladin V3 is my favorite leather scent, but it is hard to find now. I think Adam from OLLA is also leathery?

    Devils Night Wedding 2016

I second the Death of Autumn (it is AMAZING), and would also suggest Mount Misery and Sweet Hollow Roads (LE from NYCC 2010). Personally, I find MMaSHR a very green, but Death o Autumn is the perfect autumnal scent. Lots of smokey leafy goodness.

Autumn Scents - recommend the ones you love

Another vote for Pumpkin Latte, and Halloween at Miskatonic University is also warm with coffee and pumpkin.

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

Kanashisa Brienne is also my favorite! I have two suggestions for you: Embalming Fluid: A light, pure scent: white musk, green tea, aloe and lemon. (a bit of a no-nonsense scent. Crisp, sharp, and interesting) Pandy: Fresh white musk, honeycomb, sweet apricot, elemi, orange blossom, and mischievous pink pepper. (A scent based on somebody who wants to travel and have adventures. Fresh, sweet, but with a hint of spice)

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

Acid, first off, a huge internet hug for coping with your illness. I too have depression and anxiety, and when that stuff gets the better of me, I am a shell of what I normally am. I completely understand, and I hope you can get through the foggy days (that's what I call my off days). Now, for something a little more on the fun side of things, a scent rec! Personally, I think that Hand of Glory would be great for you. Beeswax, dry leather, black pepper, saltpeter, nutmeg, Mysore sandalwood, and oak bark. It's dark and a bit brooding, but with the beeswax and spices, there is an under current of sweet lightness about it. A little mysterious, and it'll catch people off guard when they ask what are you wearing, and you get to reply with Hand of Glory.
  12. For me it's The Decrepit House. It seems to just be a warm woodsy sent, but it's got a dark, brooding background.

    Rogue

Sweet hemp and rosin, with a tiny bit of leather. Thankfully no cinnamon that sometimes accompanies the BPAL leather notes. A sweet, slightly herbal (but not green) scent with OK staying power, but not enough to make it last all day. Comparing this to my leather heavy scents (Paladin V3 and Eldritich Dark), I get very very little leather. That being said, it's still an amazing scent and pairs really well with Chaotic and Dwarf. If you're a leather lover (hehe), I wouldn't consider this strong enough for you. But if you're a leather newb, it's a good introduction to the wonderful world that is the BPAL leather scents.

    Beachy, Tropical Scents

Gommorah layered with Manila has always reminded me of Hawaii. I also asked this myself a few years ago, so the recommendations on this post might help you out.

    Ein Kuss von Krampus

EIN KUSS VON KRAMPUS A kiss from Krampus! Willow and beechwood branches, Austrian chocolate, fresh Alpine milk, with paprika, horseradish, black pepper, juniper, mustard seed, and caraway. Goes on like candy, but morphs into a reedy, bittersweet spiced cocoa. Oh! I'm first! I hope I do this oil justice. In the bottle: Reminds me a bit of the notes from the 13 series. Sweet, milk chocolate and light spices. Warm and pleasant On the skin: it's like wearing a milk chocolate sweater of happiness! A few hours later: Let's pretend you're making pfeffernüsse cookies. You've just taking out all the spices for it, and you've got a craving for hot chocolate. So you whip up a batch, going all out with real chocolate and real milk. Just as you go to pour the cocoa into a mug, your hand slips, spilling cocoa all over your spices and your brand new wood chopping block. Now, lean over and give it a sniff. THAT'S what Ein Kuss Von Krampus smells like. FInal thoughts: Love it! I bought it the day it went live on the Dark Delicacies site and I might have to buy another bottle. I used it in a scent locket yesterday and kept getting wonderful whiffs of chocolate, pepper, and light woodsy spices.

    Samhainophobia

2013: Smells GREAT in the bottle, woodsy and smokey. Totally what I wanted. On me? All I get is cider. I kind of smell like my guinea pig's pen from when I was young, and I do not like it. I wanted leaves and woods and smoke, but just get Piglet the guinea pig.

    Placophobia

On me, this is wet dirt and moss. Not just, "Oh, I can picture some dirt and it might smell a little green," this is really just the smell of dirt. I'm wearing it right now and it smells like I rolled around in the dirt prior to going to work. Personally, this is not my kind of sent; I was really hoping for some lovely stony scent like Dungeon Crawl, but this just dirt and moss. Wear it if you love dirt, but not if you want stone.

    Looking for foody fall scents!

From past LEs, I would look for the 2012 Pumpkin V and Pumpkin Latte.

    Couple Engaged in Lovemaking

Honey, lemongrass, black tea, white ginger, and grains. In the bottle: Heavy lemon with a sweet cereal scent in the back. On the skin: The grains/cereal scent comes out strong, but there's still that greenish lemon scent over it all. After it dries a bit, there's a good dose of sweetness and black tea, but the lemon scent is still really really strong. It's not a heavy scent, it's very light and pleasant. I wore this scent last night and it really stayed strong. Most light scents disappear after a few hours, but this one clung to skin like a soft, lemon scent blanket. It'll be a great scent in the spring/summer, but for winter, it's much too citrusy.

Halloween In The Miskatonic University Library

In the bottle: books, wood, cologne, and a spicy/maybe pumpkiny scent. On the skin: mmmmmm, perfect! Deep cologne is in the way back, but there's a lot of spice and books! A coffee scent is there, but for me it's very faint. Pumpkin is there, but not as much as I would like. I love it, but that might just be because it's a Lovecraft theme.

    Raven Moon

For the 2012 version: This reminds me so much of Death of Autumn. Lots dark, spicy goodness with a bit of the patchouli, but not enough to make it dirty. It's got a nice sweetness to it, and the chilis don't seem to do too much to the scent. Not as much throw as my beloved DoA, but decent. A keeper in my book!

9/16 S’mores? Of course! What's the neatest freebie you've gotten? It can be cool or thoughtful or just totally unexpected, and not limited to BPALdom. Puddin slipped in White Pumpkin Extract when I was at the BPAL booth at NYCC, which really made my day. Besides that, I can't actually think of one. Would you enjoy receiving cute but useful items like colorful kitchen utensils/gadgets, or bento supplies? (boxes, chopsticks, accessories, etc?) What about things like spice mixes (homemade, or Penzey's for example) I LOVE spices, and kitchen supplies are also well loved. Do you like cute, seasonal or fluffy PJ bottoms? Like they sell at Target, Old Navy (they have had cute Halloween ones!) If so, what size do you wear? I can never say no to pajama bottoms, especially Halloween ones. What kind of chocolate do you like? Nuts, no nuts, white, dark, etc? Dark! and chocolate with chilies or nuts, or really, anything. Also, I love milk. Rally any chocolate. I live near a Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and Penzeys! What does your little heart desire from any or all of these places? Trader Joe's Pumpkin Butter! Trader Joe's Apple Butter! Those chocolate pumpkin cookies! (I love Trader Joe's) I just gave you $20 and sent you into a "has everything" store ala Walmart and told you that you have to come out having spent it all, and none of it on anything you need. What would you buy? Be as specific as possible! Fluffy Halloween themed slippers. I have been looking for a pair for a while. I'm from Canada - is there anything specifically a witchee might like that is only available here? OMG, MAPLE SYRUP! Seriously, I love maple syrup. What are your "fandoms" and would you like a t-shirt from TeeFury if an appropriate one came up? While I do love Dr. Who and Firefly, I think my biggest fandom is Lovecraft. I collect Lovecraft themed tees and I absolutely adore anything Miskatonic themed. Do you have an eReader and if so which one? I have a Nook and an iPad. On my iPad, I use the Kindle reader. Do you like candles, or tart burners, or something? If so, what's your favorite scent to burn? I love candles. My favorite candle is the Edgar Allen Poe candle from Paddywax, but I also love a good pumpkin scent. If you get me (or a fellow Aussie, if there are any playing this round) as a witch or witch's minion, would you like to try some Australian specialties, such as TimTams (delicious chocolately cookies), Caramello Koalas (koala shaped chocolates filled with gloopy caramel), Australian native spices or anything like that? I have never had TimTams, or other yummy Aussie goodies, so I will always say yes to them. BUT! I still have my koala from sunshinedaisybliss when bought some oils off her, so I know that Australia is filled with awesome things! If your witch is a knitter, crocheter or sewer, is there a particular type of garment you would love to receive (hat, scarf, wrap, cowl, socks, fingerless gloves, arm warmers etc)? I am a knitter myself so I will always say yes to more amazing knitted goodies (as long as you're willing to give up the pattern so I can try it out myself!). Is there anyone else in your house (kids, pets, partner) that would really appreciate a small gift being included for them in the switchwitchy haul so they don't feel left out? I have a pug who is a treat addict! HOWEVER! He only eats grain-free food because he smells if we feed him grainy foods. How would you feel about a taste of (insert witch location here) box? I would love it! As long as it's not a taste of something gross... Since it's been mentioned several times, and I've also offered to nacho witch some, would you you like to receive wild rice and or maple syrup? I promise to include recipe ideas with the wild rice. YES TO BOTH! I love wild rice and maple syrup. Honestly, I LOVE all foods, so I won't complain about any foodie things to come my way. I have 5 bushels of tomatoes sitting in the kitchen right now that are supposed to turn into red sauce tomorrow, so would anyone like a basic red sauce (spaghetti sauce) to make its way to them? Swoon. Yes. Would you be interested in having a bat adopted in your name? I. Love. Bats. 9/18 Witchee, will you be gone from your normal mailing address at any point during the round? I might be gone for a day or two, but nothing long-term. Are you a Disney fan or does even thinking about Disney make your head hurt? If you're into Disney, would you like something from the Happiest Place on Earth ? I'm not a huge Disney fan, but I love the Haunted Mansion. I even use clips from the ride as my ringtones! Stuffed things: yea or nay? Stuffed spooky things, yes. New Question: mix-in-a-jar? How to you feel about cookie or cake or soup mixes that come in jars and you just add, like, an egg or water or what have you? Sounds fun! Yes! Would you be interested in beer, wine, or other specialty beverages from your Witch's area? YES! But I dislike white wine and hoppy beers. Are there any crafts/skills you've wanted to learn but haven't gotten around to? And if so, would you be interested in supplies and tutorials? I keep trying to learn how to spin, but never got around to it. And I actively collect Halloween scraps for one day getting into scrapbooking. Who here would be happy to get a lil' sumthin sumthin from Adagio Teas? I would be happy, but only if it's filled with caffeine and NOTHING fruity. I like just plain teas: Black, green, white, or Mate. Do you Ravelry? And if so, what's your handle over there? Would you be interested in gift patterns from your queue? My handle there is stalecake, and I would love gift patterns! I live near this very cool Retro store (retrodrygoods.com) (you can order online too) - are there things from it that would make you squee if your witch sent them? There would be squeeing! Lots and lots! Who likes Pumpkin Spice Hershey Kisses? I like pumpkin ANYTHING. ANYTHING PUMPKIN, GIVE TO ME. What does your kitchen look like? Colors/style? It has no style, since it's a tiny apartment kitchen. Normally, I use red appliances and Halloween tea towels (those ones from Martha Stewart!).

What do bottles and labels look like?

Looks like a prototype for (what I assume to be): Shoggoth's Old Peculiar; it's a Gaiman story with a Lovecraft flavor. I don't think there's a thread on this in the reviews, so if you're feeling plucky, you should review it in the Unreleased Scents thread!

    RPG Combos

Chaotic Mage Dwarf has been my go-to scent combo for the past couple days (not close to the character I'm playing at the moment, which is an Unnaligned Hexblade Drow). The leather/resin/musk mix is very potent, lasts through out the day, and give me +5 to Charisma! Hopefully, I can find some more monies soon because I need to buy this entire collection ASAP.
