Sniffing this lab fresh frimp, I get a lot of mandarin (always love) with some of the sweet opium. Wet on my skin, it is much of the same save for the red sandalwood bursting through. The combination is not at all unpleasant, and reminds me of some incenses in new age shops (not to be confused with the incense found in headshops...!) As it dries down, the lily of the valley starts to come through and relies on the foundation of the sweet opium. Like others have noted, the blend is surprisingly "green" and I think I would have preferred a wee bit more vanilla to round out some of the clean soapiness. I will be parting with this imp but will retain mostly positive memories. Edit: Upon FURTHER drydown, the mandarin comes back out to play, with just the slightest touch of vanilla. I really like it. It reminds me of Fire Poppies. I'm hanging onto this imp!!

I second pretty much everything that Sultaana said here. This is evil like Sauron in The Rings of Power is evil. You are drawn in, deceived into thinking it is a light, clean, pretty scent. But you keep on finding yourself going back for another sniff, because there is something lurking beneath the surface, something more complex and perhaps darker... I wasn't expecting to enjoy this lab fresh frimp as much as I do, and now I'm speeding through the little guy too quickly and might have to get an actual bottle. T.T

Lab fresh frimp~ Wet on my skin, I thought to myself that October around latitude 45 is not the time to be testing something green and floral, i.e. springy. It is herbal and slightly eucalyptic. However, it dries to something woodier, like a crisp pine forest at dawn. It stings the sinuses a bit. There is something indeed haunting about it - as if it is 4% frankincense or something. The BPAL site lists this as out of stock, and I do not know if that is a temporary state. It is a very interesting blend, and I think I'll hold on to this frimp for awhile to determine my level of love.

Wet on my wrist is clean like laundry detergent or baby lotion. It dries down quickly enough to white florals and mysterious, faerie garden herbs. It is pleasant and unoffensive, but there is just enough powderiness to prevent me from actually liking it. Maybe I'm not man enough for her tastes 🙃 As others have noted, it comes off as more commerical than most other BPAL scents I've tested. Like it would make a fine Yankee candle.

(Lab fresh frimp)~ I really liked this wet on my skin - the apple blossom and carnation make a spicy floral, with the ambers keeping it from being toooo floral. But then on the dry down, the ambers take over and I don't get much else. I'm not a huge fan of amber, so although my heathen heart loves the concept of Brisingamen, I think I'll hold off on a bottle.

(Lab fresh frimp)~ Wet on my skin, it's deliciously sweet and warm. The sugar is heavier than the booze, and the cream is not remotely in the realm of buttercream (thankfully). On dry down, the sweetness of the Irish cream fades into the dry leather-bound tomes and shiny old wood. I wish it would have stayed where it was... I will be passing this along.

I am obsessed with Melancholy Fire. It's addicting; one of those scents you keep on coming back for another sniff, getting a slightly different note each time. I wouldn't have thought something bright and citrusy like bergamot would go well with something warm and spicy like cinnamon, but they blend so well together with the other notes that you can hardly pick one or the other out. It's just beautiful, and I've gotten compliments on it from coworkers. I'll be sad when I use this bottle up!

Fruity! I like the initial apple burst. It quickly softens to a coconut & banana theme. Not two scents I'm particularly fond of, unfortunately. It reminds me of an expensive lotion in an island gift shop. This scent is a lot of fun regardless. Like others have noted, it's tropical without being stereotypical or artificial.

This isn't bad at all, and I think I definitely would purchase a bottle if I was more drawn to amber and sandalwood. It's just missing a little sometin-sometin for me - maybe something juicy? Alas, I will appreciate this one from afar from now on.

I received a lab fresh frimp of this recently - had not previously heard of it. It is very lovely! The honey and sensual musk is strong, with added complexity from the geranium and tuberose. I think the myrrh and patchouli serve to give it that spiritual, goddess side - it's not too incensey or smokey, though. I can see how the dry-down gets a little play-doughy. I will evaluate further to determine if this is a love or a pass from me.

Like others have noted, I didn't get a lot of frankincense out of this at all. Maybe I'll let it sit and age; maybe I'll sell it, I dunno... But it's unfortunately not for me, despite my deep loves of both cats and butter. The butter is strong and browned, and reminds me a bit of my aunt and uncle's house growing up (it was a fancy, strong smell fit for the interior designer of that era).

A sweet, floral frankincense, softer than The Divine Scientist and more atmospheric than The Catholic. This does not bring up personal memories of midnight masses, nor is it particularly smoky like I associate with the swinging incense of my altar server days. However, it is clean and spiritual with a hint of dark magick. It's a keeper for me.

Even though I've let this age a bit, I'm still not a huge fan. To me, it's bready with a bit of cinnamon. I've recently acquired the OG Snake Oil, and I'm a fan of that, so that's not the issue here for me. Maybe it's the patchouli that's yeasty? Dunno, but I think I'll end up selling this bottle. Oh well!

The day has come. After years of BPALing (yes that is a verb now), I have a lab frimp of the legendary Snake Oil. I have had it less than a year, so it has not aged in my possession. It is fabulous, exceeding expectations. I am keeping this, and I will probably use it up to warm me up this cold winter.

Pine & cypress forward, with the honeyed patchouli hanging out in the background on the dry down. A strong, fresh scent that summons an image of a cabin in the woods on a lake in the wintertime. Masculine leaning, but may layer nicely with something else to become more feminine.

Candy-sweet strawberry syrup, with some light underlying earthy spices to hold it down. (Cinnamon? Clove? Nutmeg? idk) I think that as a spell, this is a successful blend ^^ Thank you labbies for the frimp!

Lab fresh frimp.Wow, I think I really like this. Smoky, cinnamon, camphor... It's memorable and striking. I sense that earthy, woodiness that others have mentioned. I think this will help warm me up on these cold December days!

I am very thankful that the lab released another batch of this. I see what the hype is about. Complex and addicting, Eve is up there in my favorites of the OLLA line. Rose incense meets dusty spices, with the aftertaste of honey. Yet that's not the imagery that gets conjured - that, my friends, is a different kind of dusty magick.
-
Woah, this is not what I expected. The brightness is almost carbonated, not at all what I would expect from a woody floral. I'm not picking up any of the smokiness that others have commented on. I think I can pick up that wood varnish chemicalness, but it's not in a bad way. All in all, this is a lovely ghostly floral, with the proper amount of mystery and magic. If I were BPAL, I would be proud of this one. (I don't typically like florals, tbh). I think I'll save this imp of unknown age/origin for the spring and summertime!

I can't believe that I've never reviewed this, since it's been one of my go-to autumn scents for a couple of years now. Bobbing For Blood Kisses is apple-forward in its crispness, and has a complexity that makes you come back for more sniffs. The clove and red wine is light, not overwhelming. A dash of cherry brings out the sweet/tart of the apples, and the poppy rounds out the red beauty. As it dries, the creamy vanilla comes out a little more, but the spiced wine and poppy keep holding on as well. This was a blind bottle purchase, and one of the best I've ever risked!

Ugh, I almost wish I didn't love this as much as I do. But I do. Lemon & sugar, what more do you need?? It's like the fanciest lemon drop you'll ever have the pleasure of encountering. I know I should probably save it for the summer months or something, but I can't help reapplying it now in November.

I would probably have never purchased this on my own, since I have yet to find a leather scent that I love. I am however thankful that my friend blind purchased this, and I got a try! In the bottle, I'm picking up the the leather and fougere. Wet on my skin, both of those notes are amplified. It is indeed a masculine-leaning scent. The leather unfortunately is doing that nausea thing that leather seats in cars do to me. Glad I didn't buy this, but how could I not try it...!? Adam ❤️

Lab frimp~ Wet on my skin, I get the syrupy cherry right away, which is halted by a dry, coconut husk-like finish. The anise comes out to play soon, turning it all into a candy from ye olde candy shoppe. Though I do like anise, and I don't mind gourmand scents, there is something too Red 40 or artificial here for me on the dry-down. It's fun, though!

Lap fresh frimp~ This is interesting, and I think I like it! Wet: not quite ripe strawberries, with the spice of carnation to keep it red. I can see the resemblance that others have noted to Blood Kiss. Also like a spicer or slightly floral Cruor (Lilith). Dry, this is surprisingly similar to as it was wet. That's fine with me!
