I just started delving deeply into bpal, making spreadsheets and really going through the site directory after I had lost my scent for a while last year from Covid… I’m shocked how depressed I became because of it. Scent really does add a lot of joy to my life apparently! Luckily my sense of smell came back, but different. I’ve been re-training my nose ever sense. My current top five are

    1. Thorns clove cigarette
    2. Eat me
    3. Green tree viper
    4. Goblin cider
    5. Sweets to the sweet

I love a sweet mint, autumnal spices, a good sugary foody scent, and also some smoky incense/amber/resin. Any suggestions would be lovely 😊

You might like Resistance from the Activism line. Very autumnal, and benefits the ACLU.

"It is an autumn scent, swirled with fall leaves, huddled against the cold winds of November... Bourbon vanilla and vintage champaca absolute with sweet patchouli, dried red fruits, leather accord, pumpkin rind, and a splash of bourbon."

Also Jack from the General Catalog if you haven't tried it yet ("The scent of warm, glowing jack o’lanterns on a warm autumn night: true Halloween pumpkin, spiced with nutmeg, glowing peach and murky clove.") and hopefully someone can weigh in on recommendations from the current Halloween collection!

Is there anything similar to Lush’s Avocado co-wash?

I’m guessing lime, rosemary, lavender, and nettle?

I recall this scent as a creamy sweet citrus dessert, and it was popular enough they made it into a body spray. Bergamot and litsea cubeba are listed as some of the essential oils adding citrusy vibe to the underlying perfume blend. https://www.lushusa.com/fragrances/body-sprays/avocado-co-wash/09212.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIs-DJ2ezi8wIVDuTICh38QAEPEAQYAiABEgIEdvD_BwE

Not the same, but I get very sweet citrus (plus patchouli) from Silkybat (not everyone does, but may be worth sampling).

I'm not sure if it counts to use a BPTP bath oil comparison, but I've found that Gently Gently goes really well with Potion because carnation!!!

I'd still like to find ANYTHING that would blend well in bath layers with Shub ... I was once a Lush addict and while I've gone pretty much no-buy for now because money/storage space/trying to use up most of what I have before we move to an apartment about the quarter of our current house (read: minimal storage space) I do still have a TON of it (especially bath bombs as well as bubble bars which I smooshed into what I call "bubble rubble" which makes a single bar last for about 4-5 baths).

Shub would mix well with Yog Nog.

  3. Since you love lavender, and Twilight/Sleepy, you should try TKO

Since you love Rose Jam, you might enjoy Peacock Queen or Jezebel

Since you like poisoned apple, and So White/Once Upon a Time, perhaps try Sjöfn

Other recommendations: Bon Vivant (fruity & fizzy) and Morocco (sweet)

ETA: just realized this thread was revived after over a year in dormancy!

I got The Antikythera Mechanism in my first imp order and I'm sure it'll be my first bottle purchase. I have yet to find any other scents that I love as much as this one. The teakwood and tobacco are the notes that really get me, but the warmth of the blackened vanilla is what makes it the sweet woody scent that I love.

I'd love some suggestions for perfumes in the same vein!

I've now learned from @Lucchesa that there's a pumpkin spice version of antikythera mechanism. May be worth checking out for you @coffin.baby!
