    Aquatics

I like The Storm, from this year's Lilith's as well. Sea Rat is good too, and I'll second tempest and Amsterdam. Windward Passage went a bit soapy on me. Dirge or Haunted Seas from Last year are pretty good as well.

    Promises of Izumo Hair Gloss

I bought decants, and then getting impatient, like I do, threw one into my cart at the lab. Iam immensely happy about that choice. It smells like salty ocean air with out too much seaweed, like a breeze when you're a block or two out, begging you to come frolic in the ocean. The cucumber is THERE, but it acts more like the wind/refreshing note, than a proper cucumber scent. I am thinking of taking a decant and adding a teensy bit of squirting cucumber to see what happens But as far as a soft, enticing oceanic scent, I couldn't imaging better. Very relaxing too.

    Fortuna Praecantatrix

I really really love the pomegranate notes in here, it's such an unusual scent. If there was no back note of patch, I'd probably love this. unfortunately, to my nose the oudh and patcholi get stinky all over this, and patchouli gives me a headache if it's overwhelming like this. I am sensitive to it; my skin tends to amp it. however, if you like grounded, fruity, witchy scents, I'd recommend it!

    A Spirit, Katie

Smells like soft fruity bergamot, with a hint of dried roses. it opens into a non cloying version of my Italian grandma's potpurri, like a soft blend of happier times, fading. I love it. It's very unisex? I bought 3 bottles+, because grief is weird, and I will probably wear this a lot more during the spring or fall. It's not warm enough for winter and I sweat too much in Summer but it's perfect soft scent for fall or spring... Anyway, big fan.
  5. I'd go something like Poisoned Apple or Goblin Market - scents that are fruity/floral but with a resinous edge. And depending on what you amp, Villain or A Countenance Forboding Evil might work too, if you amp floral enough that it masks the evil. Or layer something sinister with le fleurs du mal, because that is (while I love it) the perfect little old lady posset scent. My mom said that and lives for it tbh.

    Chocolate Blood

It seems everything chocolate goes a little powder on me, but this smells in the bottle more like a wet, sweet cherry chocolate. On the drydown, it becomes a fickle cherry, hiding a scent that mostly reminds me of hershey's chocolate (or Bosco's, as it says) drying on my skin after I've eaten a big cherry off a sundae. I love it, just wish it stayed a little wetter lol.

    Zip Line

I can even with this scent. It smells raw leather and cinnamon in the bottle, and after a minute or two of drying, it starts to develop into the scent of drinking a cinnamon dolce latte at a bookshop, but a used one filled with soft leather books and creaking shelves. Not at all, you know, the adventure implied in the title, for me. But skin chemistry is a hell of a thing, right? Love it.

    Eve's Big Apple VII

The cider that spills over on to your hands. soft, alluring and sweet. I would like a bit more spice, but. Big round scents, the most fall of all these. Love it.

    Eve's Big Apple IV

Smoking incense through an apple. Like. literally if a stoner had an apple and some leaf... Not a bad scent but patchouli turns unshowered hippie on me in an instant. Overwhelming and unpleasant.

    Eve's Big Apple VI

This smells like a fluffy apricot/apple marshmallow candy. goes a teeny bit powder on me. But a powdered sugar powder lol. Too sweet for me.
  11. dramedy65

    Eve's Big Apple V

Very soft, apple takes a backseat to the oudh and sandalwood, giving them a fruity firm scent. Kind of a schoolmarm's apple. Desks and apple and a little sass. Adore it.

    Eve's Big Apple III

More ginger than anything else, but I think I amp ginger. At least I do in my mouth so... ANYWAY, like ginger apple cider, if a little fizzy.
  13. dramedy65

    Eve's Big Apple II

I'm barely getting apple, mostly getting floral, a hint of apple, and something incense-y, which may be the myrrh. Deep, esoteric, but barely apple. More like a deep thoughts on apple scent than anything else.

    Eve's Big Apple I

It's a clean white smell. Very professional. Smells vaguely like cucumber and apple blossoms. with some sweetness teasing me. Very interested, my fairy got me a full bottle, I am interested in how this will smell later.
  15. Yggdrasil came up as minty cedar on me and the hubs?
  16. I don't know the B&BW scent, but Al-Shairan is orange spice: clove, peach and orange with cinnamon, patchouli and dark incense. Santa Eularia des Riu is more orange/herbs: Citrus, jasmine, Mediterranean herbs, lavender, orange blossom. Tweedledee is fun: Kumquat, white pepper, white tea and orange blossom. Would she like Covfefe? orange marshmallow cream, bitter lemon, black pepper, orange carnation, and gin. You're a Seattle area person, right? Did you see this? http://www.bpal.org/topic/92276-seattle-fallish-2017/ I'm hoping to go if I can and I'd love to meet you! Thanks for the recs. She wouldn't like patchouli - anything kinda incense/hippie ish gives her a headache - too much of it in the 70s she claims. Santa Eularia and Tweedledee sound more up her alley. Not sure of Covfefe, since I don't think she likes boozy scented things. I'd have to sniff it myself lol. And yep! I'm in the FB group chat so. I should be there. Looking forward to it too Maybe another time we can have it at my lil house and y'all can meet my puppers.
  17. Bumping up this thread from ages ago because I want to get my mom something that smells like B&BW Orange Energy. Or an orange spice type thing. ?? I got her Burning Book but Im not sure she'll like it. D: halp?
  18. dramedy65

    Single Note: Burning Book

This smells like reading a book by a bonfire. I don't know if my mum will like it, I love it? I don't normally go for smoky or leather scents but this one is just right. Yum.

What BPAL would this fictional character wear?

Hardison would have to be orange soda with a musty strange scent (no one appreciates the van!~). It would need to be a little cocky, a little humble but very comfortable. Parker would be a very soft, skin scent, almost no throw, yet distinctive. perhaps a bit of bunny fluff and climbing gear oil, with a note of pure adrenaline inducing sugar. Nate is basically Mad Sweeney - WHISKEY WHIskey Whiskey and a dash of maniacal planning, perhaps a softening scent of something, inky and sweet. Sophie would have to be a scent with many many layers, dizzying, intoxicating. Honey sweet, but with layers. Bottle will smell different from wet will smell different from dry and change hourly. and it will probably smell different on everyone - a touch of pheremone and a squeeze of lemon. This scent would be all about the sweetness and mind games. Eliot would be a rugged scent but with a soft zing. Hay? bluebonnets, a touch of beer and citrus. Meticulously coming together to make an enigmatic but intriguing scent. It should definitely make you hungry though. Archie would basically be Wilde, or any gentleman scent, with a bit of leather for the wallet. a crackle or spark for the taser cane would be great too Chaos would be sweat and paper and something vaguely annoying. Sterling would have similar notes to nate, but less whiskey, and more, perhaps, smoke or brimstone - HE'S EVIL NATE.

    Bilquis

Aged, old school Bilquis. Wet: Interesting. Huh. I have no idea what this smells like. These are mostly new notes for me. Definitely sweet - getting that honey note. Something deeper, maybe the myrrh. No Apple. Dry: Sweet, medium throw. Spiced honey, but not in a headache-y sort of way. Not getting any apple at all. Maybe it will come out later, but I do like this right now. Likely a keep but rare use.

    Mr. Jacquel

I am absolutely angry at this scent. I mean, everything else smells really good but patchouli ALWAYS gets me. I've yet to find a scent it doesn't ruin. In the bottle, it's all patchouli. Just, running roughshod. I test it anyway, hoping this will be the exception. Wet, it's till intense. Dry? The amber is soft and amazing, there are other notes I can feel but as soon as I think I'm getting somewhere, patch is like NOPE ALL ME JUST KIDDING. and I lose the rest of it and it's just. hippie incense. fancy, nice, but really not my scent. Swap/sell pile. Sad. and Mad. and sad.

    Shadwell

I am beginning to think my skin hates milk scents in much the way my stomach rejects lactose, ha. This smells, in the bottle, like cigars and tea and strongly. On my skin, it's vaguely like someone put a cigar out in a cup of milky tea. Not at all that sexy tobacco of Mr Nancy. Much cheaper and shabby-er. I want to give it time to dry down, since everything's been changing on me after about an hour lately, but my goodness. I think I may have to wash. Not for me. at all. I mean, it suits Shadwell, but not my wrist Definitely in the NOPE pile.

    Mad Sweeney

Bottle: I think I'm drunk. What is this. Wet: OH THAT SNIFF WAS TOO CLOSE. I feel drunk. and my nose hurts. something boozy but ok? ish? Dried after a bit: *looks up notes* It's whisky. Oak whiskey. Very. Masculine. Very. Strong. How can I love a booze so much and yet not enjoy the scent? It's like reverse coconut. And I've always been more of a soft sweet whisky drinker than a fancy oak barrel kind tbh. Too strong/manly for me (I prefer the unisex scents tbqh) and hubs isn't into whiskey. Boop, into the sale/swap pile.

    Glasgow

Oh my goodness. I want to go to Glasgow badly. Actually saw the notes on this one. In bottle: VERY floral but a soft one. Kind of lavender without being lavender? Oh, yeah, heather. Wet: This doesn't seem to be working out. HEAVY florals. Dry, immediate: Still floral, but something is coming out. The fruit? Dry, 2 hours later: OH man, this, given time to dry, is like laying in a field of heather, popping blackberries in my mouth. Like everytime I smell it, I want to go grab the blackberries in my fridge and eat them just to match. Should do another with heather and something and call it Brigadoon. Now I want to eat blackberries and watch Gene Kelly movies. THIS IS AWESOME. Definitely starting to rank up there. WHEEEEEEeeeEE

    Viola

Been looking at this for awhile, really wanted to try so I finally got it in an imp order. In jar: holy florals. I like it but it is a bit bathroom talcum. Wet: still a bit floral, getting better. Dry: I think this will get better the longer it dries because it immediately started mellowing the florals with the resins. Definitely glad I got this, but would probably want to put this on like. an hour before I left the house. Into it. So happy.
