Ok guys. Did anyone else get something very similar to a plum sufganiyot... caaaause.... that's what I got, and I am pretty much in love. There's definitely a hint of spice in here, with a light, sweet plum, but NOT a candy plum. Just sugared. Nut notes seem to work well for me, but I don't really get a strong, nutty vibe from this. I'm guessing it's just lending the fragrance some warmth. My mom took one sniff of my decant and ordered a bottle. I'm considering following suit. Lovely, and not super foody... but just foody enough to be delicous.

Satyr is one of my fave's and is super sexy, resinous. Dee is fantastic. Lear if you are a big fan of cedar. Jolly Roger is a good choice for aquatic. Old Scratch is great if you like genteel and old fashioned. The Robotic Scarab has a cool, mint cologne feel. El Dorado, Coyote, and White Rider are all beautiful. Aelopile and Azathoth are nice citrus and wood combos. Ranger is my husband's favorite. It's dark and foresty, as is Troll. Embalming Fluid is a clean, lemony fragrance that is a BPAL classic and is unisex. Pro tip - Order 12. The lab is lovely and frimps every six decants, plus - they give you a discount when your order in groups of six.

Aaaaaarrrrrrr.....gh..... Soapity soap soap. Pirates must have been very clean individuals. I don't know why ocean aquatics never work on me. Don't these perfumes know I'm a water sign?? Anywho, Mary Read smells boozy and sweet in the bottle. The sarsaparilla is detectable and makes me smile. The fragrance isn' woody like Jolly Roger, and I don't even get a hint of soap till I put it on my skin. Then it's like all the other notes walk the plank and I'm left with a big ol' brick of Dial. Siigh.

Caramel-sticky tobacco right up front. The tobacco is fruity and light golden brown in smell, not a thick, dark tobacco. As it dries down, I start to get coconut. I'm not really getting any more complexity, but my nose is a bit stuffy, so I may visit this one later. Given the notes and how popular this one is, I was expecting it to be a hit, but it's kinda tame for my tastes. It reminds me of a watered down Perversion, which I love, and shall stick with.

This reminds me a bit of Masquerade at first, with the lovely orange peel and something warm and sweet underneath it, right up front. There's some sort of cologne vibe going on here though, and it is very prominent and discordant on me. The note takes over and this goes soapy. Not at all what I was expecting, but probably a chemistry thing.

Ooooh. That's lovely. I get beeswax and lavender right off. Those are both notes that I find pleasant enough, but don't go crazy for, but here, they're really doing something nice together. I didn't immediately recognize them, but after a few good sniffs, I identified them without looking at the notes. The perfume has a cool vibe, though there's no "snow" or anything, and I think the smoke and incense add just a touch of nose tickling harshness that is really interesting. It does sort of have a solemn, somber airiness to it that is strangely evocative. I think more of a giant library, myself. But it could be a cathedral. I'm really enjoying the Travelogue scents so far. ETA: After the fire at the cathedral, I couldn't help but buy a bottle of this. Such an awful event. 😢 Even though it will be rebuilt, so much will not be the same. It seems serendipitous that Beth, in some way, preserved the fragrance of the old building, and it's lovely that Lilith got a chance to visit it.

This smells lovely, but not at all like what I was expecting. I don't smell anything that I would thing of as "stone." It smells almost floral to me, sweet, and I get hints of a light vanilla. Someone else mentioned plum, and I do indeed recognize that note now. I was expecting "russet" musk to be some form of red musk, but it's not. I don't get any teakwood or oudh unless it's a faint warmth in the background. Overall, there is a coolness to the blend, and, in some ways, it reminds me of a girlier "Night's Bridge," so maybe BPAL's stone note just smells sweet and floral to me. Either way, this is very pretty and different, and I could see buying a bottle. It's perfumey, but in a very pleasant way. I just need to death match all the Lilliths and Lupers I like and decide which one's I can't live without.

Malkuth smells like amber, cinnamon, and honey on my skin. I thought I detected labdanum at first, but that might have just been the smoky honey. Ther's also something on the tip of my brain, but I justcan't figure the note out. This smells like baklava to me! Which is pretty awesome.

Smoke and Lace!

What?! Only one page of reviews for this one? That surprises me since it's been around a while through several iterations. Well this is a review of the 2017 version, so it's had a year to settle. Very green, but not in the typical conifer forest way. There's a lovely astringency along the lines of rosemary or lavender, though it's different. I definately get thyme, which I adore. Don't let the florals scare you off. Nothing in here says "flowers" to me. This smells like rolling around in an herb garden. Something here also smells faintly lived in - like.... smelling your pet after rolling around in your herb garden. Why is everyone rolling around in my herb garden?! Anywho, not a scent I would wear often, but one it's nice to have an imp of. If you enjoy rosemary, mugwort, thyme.... any of those very green smells - I'd check this one out.

This is one of the first BPAL scents I was introduced too, and at the time, I thought it smelled like a syrupy, strawberry milkshake. Entirely too sweet, trendy, and juvenile for my tastes. Now, years later, it smells... well, pretty much the same. BUT, I can discern more of what's going on. Lot's of red musk mixes with the strawberry and powdery-vanilla heliotrope to make a creamy, tooth achingly sweet red musk, with a touch of cherry on top. This is maraschino cherry. Not quite cherry candy, but nowhere near the fresh picked fruit. It's all tamed by the gentle powderiness of the amber and heliotrope so that there's more creaminess than sugar syrup. In the dry down, I begin to see why people are comparing it to Snake Oil. It's not incensey or resinous, and I'm not getting the depth or darkness of SO, but I think the vanilla and amber are similar. I start to get a bit of the play-doh vibe SO almost does on me, then it settles down and I get a heliotrope and a soft, feminine amber. This smells very teen coquette to me, and would fit in well with Jailbait and Lolita, but it ends up smelling a little more grown up in the dry down. Still not my thing, but I can appreciate. Check this one out if you enjoy smelling like a sexy, strawberry milkshake, enjoy "pink" scents, like your red musk sweeeeeet, or want a lighter, more feminine Snake Oil.

Hey, was reading reviews of Luminous Phantasmis from the Yules, and there were several comparisons to 51, which I can kind of see. They just took the Yules down, but it's a returning scent, and there's probably decants floating around in swaps. I myself, have a partial bottle up on my sales page. Also, I'm doing a Givaway for Guys in the Acts of Kindness section. Check it out if you're interested. Oh, and you might look into Ogun -heavy and dark cigar tobacco, gin and juniper, melon, chili pepper and a touch of honey.

Sugar cane, molasses, oak wood, and honey. Mmmm... Kind of a boozy, dirty sugar scent along the lines of Glogg, but not buttery and not so in your face. It's actually fairly light on me. I actually wish this was a bit richer and darker. I want more molasses. This is almost a skin scent on me. Or maybe my skin is just devouring it, b/c I'm a sugar fiend. Hmmm....

Vega's review sums up my experience well. I can smell the florals, but there is still a masculine darkness to this fragrance that makes it workable for either sex. Wisteria often becomes screechy and harsh on my skin, but it behaves itself here, adding an elegance to the more prominent earthy, cool stone, and moss notes that are very reminiscent of an old cemetery. I write, and being a perfume lover, I have certain fragrances I associate with my characters. I associate Silenti with one of my favorite male characters. He is undead, mysterious, refined b/masculine, melancholy, and aloof. I'd say, if you enjoy moss, cemetery notes, or fougere's, this one's worth looking into.

So I was really digging this at first, very nice fresh, chilly pine, with something bright, but not sweet shining through. Very refreshing and gender neutral. But now something dark and heavy is mucking it up and smelling uncomfortably like an undercurrent of poo. 😕 I do'nt think it's oud, so I'm not sure what's going on here, but this one's a no go. Alas. Eta - This is like .... coming down Christmas morning to your lovely, sparkly Christmas tree, only to find the cat's have laid a turd among the presents. Christougenniatiko Dentrophobia indeed.

I've been experimenting a bit with cedars, which usually go terrible on me, to see if certain varieties work better. Himalayan cedar shows some promise. The Lemniscate is well blended and gentle, leaning slightly towards masculine. The cedar, tobacco, and frankincense are all present, and all working together as one cohesive scent. I like black pepper and cognac, but I'm not really getting any here. ... Ok.... maybe a touch of cognac when I really slather. This is a nice, unobtrusive wood/tobacco scent. Pleasant, but not ringing my bells.

This smells very chilly in the bottle. The apple is the most prominent note I get, though I'm getting it blended with a lot of other stuff. I get a bit of menthol nose tingle, and ozoney musk sweetness. It does evoke a crisp, chilly, clear day. I love yuzu, but this isn't obviously citrus to me. On, its getting less sweet, more herbal, but still very chilly. I'm not real familiar with snowdrop, but there is a hint of green floral sweetness in here. It's ozoney but not aquatic on me, and it's not turning to soap. It's also not what I generally think of as BPAL's snow note. I'm not getting any mint. When I smelled this strait out of the mail, it reminded me of hairspray b/c of the ozoney, sweet apple thing. My friend said, "Yes! But the BEST hairspray." Anywho, now it smells less hair product and more interesting to me. Now it's almost reminding me of a brighter, sweeter, less medicinal Brooms of Steel. I'm not sure if I want to keep it or not. If you're looking for a snowy scent that isn't the typical lab snow, chilly apples, or you like cool, ozone scents, check this out.

I get sugary violet at first, then something dusty and sharp which I, at first, thought was maybe lavender. There's also a hint of light, white floral in the background. Seeing lilac as a listed note, I realize that's what I'm getting as "maybe lavender," but it's going a little sharp/chemical on me. This one is a well balanced violet/ lilac floral that would probably be extremely pretty with the right chemistry, but doesn't quite work well enough on me to win against other violet blends. It does indeed evoke twilight and cool nights.

Mossy Mylanta! Which sounds like a bad review, but it really isn't. I'm quite fond of this one and am sad it's in Memoriam. The mint starts out soft and powdery and mixes with the mosses. The abergris adds a touch of aquatic incense. If you took out the vanilla sweetness from Lyonesse, and replaced it with chilly mint, you might get something similar to this. After it's been on a while, the mint dies down and I get almost a woodiness to the scent. It always stays soft, cool, and gender neutral, and I find it a very soothing blend. We've been having tons of fog today where I live, and the weather is juuuuuust starting to turn into early spring warmth. Cathode feels very appropriate.

I have not smelled Mat Night, so I'm just going off the notes and the reviews. Le Lethe and Santa Domingo are CG scents and both have tobacco with a sort of buttery warmth I associate with caramel, although they don't have that specific note listed, and they'd be missing the bonfire and snow note, but maybe you could layer it? I know Le Lethe in particular makes me think of caramel. Tiresias, The Androgyne has both caramel and tobacco as listed notes, and I seem to remember it being gender neutralish? Appropriately. And you might possibly try finding The Second Morning After Christmas. It was one of the Baker Street blends. It didn't have caramel, but it had a tobacco note similar to Hearth's, along with a bit of chilly snow and smoke.

Dem rabbits know how to partay. I really like this one. It opens with a blast of dark, fruity wine, like a deep, spicy merlot. Something smells a bit smoky, and there's definitely a chocolate note. I'd call it bittersweet. It's not the almost earthy/coffee chocolate I sometimes get, but it's not sweet milk chocolate either. It smells thick, wet, and red. Usually wine comes off as grapey or even bubblegummy on me, but this stuff is dark and delish. I don't get rum from this specifically, though it's a note I enjoy, but it might be adding the sweet richness. There's no dragon's blood or blood musk that I can tell in here, just the general feel of blood... if you were a rabbit, and really liked to drink it.

Clean, old house is exactly what I got from The Harlot's House. Old 1950's house wooden floor boards and a clean mustininess with an overlay of herbs and florals. Don't know if we share the same nose though. The Rat Speakers is a really nice dirt scent. And I'd second Robin Goodfellow as a dusy, herbal, wood blend, and Aelopile, which reminds me of a wood paneled room, oiled with lemon and Old English. The Red Queen smells like antique furniture to me b/c of the mahogany, but lot's of people just get CHERRY. You might also try Yorick which has an earth and burlap note. It went kinda floral on me though. 😕 Like Brooms of Steel is a Yule that I don't think would be too hard to find. It's description is - Sharp, metallic slices of snow and freezing wind with a faint hint of cellar dust, burlap, and apple. Also, the Trading Post had a bunch of "haunted location" atmos up a Halloween or two ago, and those might be worth looking into. Desolate Farmhouse might be right up your alley. They might be floating around in the swaps/sales pages. They might also pop up on BPTP's Etsy site. On occasion, the unsold atmos will make their way there, probably more towards Halloween. Good hunting.

Wow. I never realized how close "In the Wild North" was to this until now. They both share a sweet,berry vibe, along with chilly evergreen/juniper. The cedar is lurking in the background of this and going wonky on my skin, but that's typical. 😕 Not for me, but it's a sweet, cheery forest blend, if that's you're thing, and I'm guessing it would be very nice on someone who wears cedar well.

Skin chemistry is super cool! But I meant maybe the "black musk" was creating that cigarette smell for you. Black Rider and Haunted both have it and are in the general catalog. Or if you like the wine smell, Nosferatu, Centzon Totochtin, and The Black Tower smell more masculine on me. (I actually kinda dig wearing masculine blends) They might be different on you though. Also, if it helps any, 51 and Lillith will probably be back eventually. Sometimes they just run out of stock. P.S. Sorry I can't be more helpful with 51. It didn't really work for me, and I can't think of anything else it smells like.
