In the Bottle: Tangerine and cedarwood. I don’t like it at all. I’m going to smell like a carpenter and I doubt I’d like it on my husband. We’ll see though. Wet: The tangerine was the first thing I smelled and then the amber and saffron. I know the cedar will come out to play soon unfortunately though. Drydown: Yep predictably. All cedarwood.

    Queen of Diamonds

In the Bottle: Clean and spikey. It’s like a kick in the teeth from a diamond studded boot. Wet: Oh wow…….this is lovely! That diamond boot appearantly was velvety and sweet too. Or maybe the owner just gave me a kiss. Drydown: Can I get a hell yah? This is fantastic. It’s even better that my signifier in cartomancy is always the Queen of Diamonds. Ish mine!

    All Saints'

In the Bottle: Oh lord. This is so beautiful. The rose, gardenia and lily are just melded so perfectly with the rose being the topnote. It seems in regards to the florals Beth listed them in order as they hit the nose. Atleast to me. The spices I can’t smell at all. Wet: If this smells like a French cathedral when I move to germany I plan on spending a lot of time in France. This is lovely. The spices and the florals mix perfectly. So far it’s not a scent I would wear all the time but we’ll see when it dries down. Drydown: Le Sigh. All myrhh now.

    Numb

In the Bottle: Whoa….Irish Spring soap?? This smells like my husband right out of the shower. Wet: Still clean man. I like the consistency and I might even hunt a bottle down for the hubby. Drydown: SevenSins is my hero. She gave me this in a very weird purchase and now…I’m in heaven. It dried down soft and clean. It’s the perfect alternative to Dirty for a man.

    Torture King

In the Bottle:Thickly male. It whispers of hot nights and worshipped days. It reminds me of a man in a romance novel I read long time ago. He was a sultan I think and his favorite concubine was an irish slave girl. During the day she influenced his decisions more than his viziers did. During the night? He owned her completely. I don’t know why but this is sinfully Dominant. I feel like I should get down on my knees and say “Thank you, Sir.” Wet: Oh god the leather. Oh the leather is divine that’s the first thing I smell, then the grasses and clove and a bit of the mandarin. Oh if only this wasn’t so manly on me. Drydown: Deffinately going to be hunting down a bottle of this for the husband. This is another one of those scents he MUST wear. It’s dominating, worshipping, cherishing and all those other ing’s that you want from a great Dom.

    Szepasszony

In the Bottle: CK One with an additional floral to make it more feminine and coquettish. I love love love this. I thought I passed this up for some reason. Hrm. Wet: Oh lord……it’s CK One’s Big Sister to the rescue! Oh this is gorgeous. Drydown: Oooh very nice. I’ll keep this one for now but I think after a few wears it won’t be so nice. Blood Rose

In the Bottle: Smells just like Tropical Fruit Punch Kool Aid with a spiker in it. Wet: Rose. A bit of wine. Doesn’t have much of a throw. Drydown: Barely able to smell it now. And it’s all rose.
  8. ABrokenAngel

    Melpomene

In the Bottle: Oh this smells sumptuous in the bottle but it has danger notes for me…lots of them. Lavendar, cypress and mint? I’m scared. It brings to mind the image of a greek goddess bathing in a natural spring on a winter’s morning. Wet: Cypress and lavender. I knew that was going to happen. Drydown: Yep…..Cypress and Lavendar.
  9. ABrokenAngel

    Bliss

In the Bottle: I didn’t really expect it to smell like chocolate. I honestly didn’t. I expected it to smell like some fake version of it. This makes me want to guzzle the entire bottle. Wet: Ieeeee!! *gnaws off arm* I’m a chocolate brownie! I’m a chocolate brownie! Save me from myself!! Drydown: I can’t help it. I want to eat my arm. I love it but I hate it. I love it because it smells like rich smoothe chocolate and I hate it because foody scents just aren’t me.

    Fallen

In the Bottle:The blending on this is amazing. Everything seems to move and mingle together. It reminds me of a scene from the movie “From Hell” where the Ripper is silhouetted against a darkened street. His cloak billowing behind him, the moon full and pregnant with danger. It seems dangerous, potent and thrillingly sensual. Wet: Oh it stays the same on my wrist, deep, dark, sexually charged and violent. I can tell it’s going to go bad though already. It’ll be going to the husband. Drydown: Violet and wood.

Who do I email with questions? BPAL/BPTP contact info

I was told that the Lab responded this quick also which was why I was concerned. Beth: You appearantly think I was being unappreciative and what not. That's fine. I cannot do anything to change your point of view on that. I have read over my email trying to see where you would be led to believe that and I cannot see it but it might be because I wrote it and I know the spirit in which is was written. Which was honest concern and wondering if it was normal or not since I had nothing to compare it to at the time it was written. Now that the matter has been settled with Anthony, as I told him, it won't effect my view on the Lab or it's product or any misgivings about placing any orders. I just made my husband order over 300 worth of product and I plan on ordering 2 Budding Moons in 10 minutes. Sorry you viewed anything I have said as that, mostly because it's not how it was meant.

Who do I email with questions? BPAL/BPTP contact info

Beth: The reason why I posted a question was because I was worried. Not because I was pissed off or annoyed or accusing anyone of anything. I was worried because out of the 8 people I have on my messanger that I spoke to regarding the issue (3 of which had had past problems though I have no leg to stand on when it comes to their problems because I don't know what is what with their orders) 5 of them stated that the Lab is ~*SUPER*~ quick about answering emails. I was worried that some how something had gone wrong and someone hadn't noticed or wasn't paying attention. I work is customer service also and sometimes things slip through the cracks. That's why my email was in no way accusatory, angry or otherwise violatile. I believe I stated (if not I'm sorry I should have) inthe email I really don't care that much that my frimps weren't full. That wasn't the reason that I emailed. Had all of the items I paid for been 100% full I would have shrugged it off and moved on. I included the information regarding the frimps as a by the way sort of thing. I'm sorry if the email or even this post came off as accusatory. I was curious and worried nothing else. As I said in the email, this was my very first order so I had nothing to base my experience on, which is why I posted the thread also. Anthony's email was perfection in CS and I never would dream of thinking otherwise. As I said.....when someone has a problem on their very first order, is informed by others that the Lab is "Uber fast" about answering emails and then told about three other problems one would get rather worried.

Who do I email with questions? BPAL/BPTP contact info

I recently received my very first order straight from the lab. *squeee!* Unfortunately my squee time was cut short by a mistake. When I spoke to a few friends I found out that all of them had had mistakes on their orders. One gal had a 5ml sent to her that was only full to the mid label. One received partially filled imps, another received only 3/4 of her 3 imp packs and no frimps. What I received were 12 imps that weren't filled. By not filled I don't mean they weren't brimming full. I mean they weren't even filled to the label, most of them were filled midway up the label. I sent an email to the Lab immediately wondering what had happened as I had just placed a $154.00 order and was worried that I had just paid for the same service on my 5mls. My email hasn't been answered. (That email can be PMed for those interested parties) I was wondering......is anyone else having problems with communicating with the lab or with the orders they are receiving from the lab? Does anyone have any insight as to what's going on? I'm really concerned since as I said this was my very first order and I'm not sure if I should base my view of the Lab on this or not.

    Snow White

In the Bottle:Mmmm now this is a nice homey scent. There's the crisp clean scents and then layered just under that is a sweet almond that's very very light, I hven't smelled the flowers yet but I think those will come when applied. Wet: Oh yes yes yes yes YES. Fantastic! It's sweet and crisp, tantilizing yet subdued. Perfect scent that that "I'm feeling girlie but not THAT girlie" day. Drydown:This just got sweeter. I know it will be a major bother to try and find this after it's over so I'll be purchasing a bottle for treasuring. Although I like the scent it's not something I'll die without, however I'm sure this will be a bear to find later.

    Jacob's Ladder

The meeting of Heaven and Earth: golden amber, galbanum, benzoin, ambrette, rockrose, costus and tonka. In the Bottle: Oh dear perfume goddess! That is amazing!! I had thought Stardust was going to be the only one I swooned over however Jacob's Ladder is a deffinate yum! If not on me then the hubby WILL be wearing this regardless of if he likes it or not! I'll hold him down and shower him in it if I have to. I don't even need to put this on my flesh to know I'm getting a 5ml or two. Wet: Oh god this is rich, warm, brooding and utterly masculine. Deffinately purchasing a 5ml for the hubby. I dislike it on me although it works well with my chemistry because it's a bit too masculine on me, however....the hubby is going ot be in for T-R-O-U-B-L-E when he puts this on. Drydown: Wow....warm, comforting, mature. This is just a fantastic scent however I doubt the hubby will cherish it as much as I do so I believe it'll only be 1 bottle.

    Stardust

In the bottle: Soft clean and decadant. I can smell the white musk and champagne and hyacinth. However the rest is blended perfectly into each other. I'm excited to smell this one on my skin. Wet: Oh....My......God. This is just.....omg....... *takes a moment to compose self* This is exactly what "Beauty" by Lord Byron describes. Every note, every waft of this is purely sensual. Not sexual mind you....sensual which is scores better than sexual. If I were a man and I was in a sea of people and I smelled this on a woman I would sniff her down like a bloodhound, grab her by the waist, take a deep breathe and melt her with a kiss worthy of the smack I was about to get. I LOVE this. 3ml's prz! Drydown: There aren't many BPAL scents that get better on me as they drydown. I mean LOADS better. This one just aged and then POPPED into full bloom. I love this. Beth...PRZ bring this back! Like.....all the time.....please!! *begs*

    Spooky

In the Bottle: I'm afraid. Coconut and vanilla and rum. Rum hates me internally (never drinking the stuf ever again), vanilla kills almost anything else on my skin and coconut smells rancid on me. This smells like a peppermint shampoo my mother once made me use because it was "good for my hair", it burned my eyes and made my scalp tingle for hours. I hated that shampoo. Although the peppermint is wonderfull, this will not be kept. I can already tell. Reminds me of that shampoo too damned much. Wet: HELLO PEPPERMINT! Woooo that opened my eyes. I was a bit sleepy from testing all night but WOW that woke me up. I smell a bit of vanilla, a bit of the rum.... It's not unpleasant actually. Drydown: For once....vanilla is my friend. It calmed the peppermint down a bit, gave it a shot of rum and now they're relaxing and enjoying each other's company. I doubt I'll keep this but it was nice to try.

    Pumpkin Patch V (2005, 2006)

Dubious, lots of woods in here. Woods smell like a carpenter's shack on me. At first whiff my doubts are solidified. Not even going to test this one. The galangal root has not helped any and I usually like it. This one is without a doubt going to my best friend who loves this series.

    Pumpkin Patch III (2005, 2006)

In the Bottle: Oooh high hopes. I'm LOVING the pomegranate smell since Persephone and Hanging Gardens (I'm looking forward to my imp of Swank more and more each day). I'm not really sure how I like this one however. It smells divine with the buttery spiced pumpkin grounding the sharp fruit of the pomegranate. However it takes a few wiffs for me to catch the pom, I'll reserve judgement until tested. Wet: Buttery salty pumpkin backed by the tangy pom. I guess I just don't like the pumpkin in these. It smells too salty and not at all like the pumpkin I was expecting. I was expecting a -true- pumpkin smell although these are great....just way too foody for me. Drydown: Still way too foody for me. The pumpkin eventually destroyed all the pom. Sad so very very sad.

    The Hanging Gardens

In the Bottle: Though I was terrified this would be too busy of a scent since I'm finding I prefer the more simple scents, I decided to go for it anyway. If it smells on me ANYTHING like it smells in the bottle it'll be on my next order. I immediately smell pomegranate, plum, fig and the pears with a faint faint faint floral tucked back against the wall of the imp. It was so full when I got it (thank you to Annie!) that it spurted on me. Anything other than this and I might have been miffed, however...this is simply divine. As I'm writing all my ITB reviews first, I keep picking up the bottle of it and smelling it since it got on the label. Oh lord I love this. Wet: Oh my god the fruit notes in this are DIVINE! They are backed up by the beautiful florals. Did Beth just walk into her recipe books and pull out all the best fruits she had, the best florals and toss them in together? Absolutely divine. Another of her masterpieces. This scent right here could start a sensation across the nation! If she mass marketted just this one scent as a gateway scent to the rest of BPAL she would have picked the right one. It's simply fantastic. I keep smelling my arm.....this is never leaving me...ever! Drydown: Pom, plum plumeria and a very very shy rose hiding behind I believe a gardenia. I LOVE it. I was scared the wood notes (ebony, fir and date palm) would take over and kill this in the dry down but it seems my beloved fruits have battled strong and stay true. Straight to the big bottle for me!

    Lust

In the Bottle: Guh.....I don't know what sort of sexual desire this is supposed to smell like but I want no part of it. Smells like pencil shavings, ylang ylang and red musk. Wet: Ylang ylang comes to the forfront when first put on, followed by red musk, then the patchouli and the myrrh is hiding in the background sharpening a blade. And then it hits. The patchouli strangles the ylang ylang to the ground and stands atop it triumphant. The patchouli has the red musk by the throat and is taughting it. In the end? There is nothing left but a bloody pencil shavings and myrrh mess. Drydown: A bloody mess.....call in the detectives....they're going to want to know about the scent homocide. I'm sure we can get a confession out of those two.

    Eden

In the Bottle: This was another one of the ones I wasn't so hot on to try in the lot I got from ebay. I dispise coconut and sandalwood goes screwy on me. Ugh....coconut and fig. That's all I smell. The fig is nice but the coconut is totally throwing me off. I'll test it further (who know I might fall in love with coconut and the apocolypse will commense) but I doubt it'll be going anywhere but to the swap pile. Wet: Oh guh...coconut...and lots of it. It's backed up by it's brutal buddies fig fruit and almond milk. The only thing that could have made me want to rip off my arm more would have been if the sandalwood had put a pencil scent in here. I dislike this very much and it will be going to the swap pile. Although it was nice for a moment when the fig stood alone I've decided the other scents just can't work together nicely on me. Drydown: Coconut and almond milk. You know it wouldn't be half bad with a little more almond to cover up a bit more of that yucky coconut.
  23. ABrokenAngel

    Tiger Lily

In the Bottle: Oh my, yes...I VERY much like this one. The lilies are superbe. Fully blossomed and covered with a faint glistening sugar dew. Wet: Wow....I smell none of the honey. Just pure undiluted lillies. It's brilliant, inspired....look I'm raving! I really enjoy this floral. I was a bit scared it would go sour on me since I've had bad luck with things I really want to smell fantastic on me. The lillies are so fresh though. It reminds me of a very very nice Easter lunch with a few of my step mother's family members. It was greek Easter and they had lillies and other white flowers EVERYWHERE...I thought I was going to faint when I smelled this and it captured that room perfectly. Drydown: Wow they tame so well. It's so very....sleepy now. The lillies have gone to bed and the honey is keeping watch to make sure their delicate petals aren't bruised by the heavy night.

    The Unicorn

In the Bottle: I have no clue what's going on this evening, but appearantly all the ones I like I drop the wand to...what's with that? As soon as I picked up the applicator from the floor I smelled the most fantastic smell. It's light, whimsical and made me close my eyes, get a cheesy grin and just mumble "mmmmmmmmmmm". This one's a keeper. Whether or not it works on my skin. I'll make it into a room freshener if I have to. This is far to luscious to get rid of. Wet: Herbs. Dastardly herbs on top of a bit of flowers. I'm going to test this again and see if it's not just something infecting the scent. It didn't smell even close to this in the bottle. Drydown: Ok.....wet is not so great but drydown? Sumptuous. The herbs calm down into a magical portent and the flowers have come back around and are now a laurel around this magical beast's head. If I could have ever imagined what a unicorn would smell like, THIS would actually be it. It's soft and earthy and magical yet it keep it's aloof enchantment till the very last moment. I'm in love again.

    Mad Hatter

Ok....I have no clue what pennyroyal smells like and I'm not going to pretend I do. However, this smells like lavendar and mint to me. And it's heinous. I'm not even trying this one, it's immediately going to the swap/sell pile.
