Working on my questionnaire answers for good old Tacky Ornament now, so glad it's up!

It's been confirmed that Tacky Ornament will be taking place as per usual.

I was just thinking wistfully of Switch Witch a few days ago! Can't wait!
-
Is Perversion too obvious here? I usually don't go for most of the notes, but they're actually pretty nice in this combination!
-
I usually see Urd recommended for this.
-
I am not going to be doing the usual holiday things IRL this year so some type of holiday swap without a super-restrictive theme would be cool. Hopefully Tacky Ornament will still take place if nothing else.
-
I'd still agree with No. 93 Engine.

Tacky Ornament is up, without much interest so far... always a good time!

I'm itchy for something and have maybe just enough capacity to manage 15 participants who solemnly swear they will make good.
I could do that if I could ship to someone else in the US...

Has there be any whispers about there being a Switch Witch this year? If the traditional ringleaders don't have the bandwidth to run it, would they allow those of us who are willing to step in? (I'm willing to be a host!)
I don't want it to be a Switch Witch-less year!
Also missing Switch Witch. Last summer we had a very Switch Witch like swap, called Summer Swap Sprite, I think, that went pretty well/was quite enjoyable. I would be up for something like that whenever it's held.

Planning to wear Voodoo today which also has clove, but my fave BPAL clove is probably The Moon Gazed on My Midnight Labours!
-
Sed non Satiata comes to mind (most of the other things I thought of contained rose):
-
@goddessrobyn, I really enjoyed Swap Sprite so would be happy either for the return of that swap or (of course!) Switch Witch.
-
The birthday card swap that recently went up is such a nice idea! As a middle-aged person, I really miss getting multiple birthday cards in the mail like I did as a kid, so this will be really nice!
-
Lurid Library!
Undead Home of the Vampire King atmo also comes to mind...

@twilighteyes Yes, I'm definitely not the
of the forum or anything (haha!) and agree that discussing different types of possible swaps here is a good idea, I had just happened to post about a swap I enjoyed in the past, but like I said, understand that different swaps work for different people! And I also understand that people exist who do not wear foot coverings at all, I was just saying that most people probably wear foot coverings of some kind at least occasionally. I agree that used books are a nice thing and have often given and received used books in swaps on the forum.
"Snack" was added to the book/sock/soap swap later, but I'm assuming could also be something associated with snacks (like a container to keep your snacks in), or a gift card to somewhere that you might buy snacks that'd fit your restrictive diet, etc. In my original response to you about this I was just noting that perhaps sounds, pasttimes, or sacrifices might also be as bad a fit for someone's lifestyle as socks, books, or soap!
If we're talking about previous non-book/sock/soap/snack swaps we've participated in and enjoyed, there was a "Winter Holiday Fun Swap" I participated in around a decade ago that was nice, I think it entailed around 4 items chosen for one's swap partner... and also an Unbirthday Swap that was a similar amount of commitment....
-
@twilighteyes I only wear socks a handful of times a year, and I thought you posted in the "What Are You Reading?" often, but maybe I'm thinking of someone else? I'm almost certain that the book/socks/soap/snack etc. one was also one that "people can make fit to whatever they want to send" as well, i.e., soap could be bodywash or hand soap (I think most people at least wash their hands?), socks could be slippers or tights or whatever (don't most people cover their feet with something at least some of the time?), a book could be an ebook if a person doesn't collect physical books, etc.
Was the sacrifice/self-care one the Solstice one? I remember looking over it when it was held and feeling like many of these criteria didn't fit me (especially the sound one because I don't trust others to pick stuff like that out for me, and the pastime part because I don't do things like crafts), so I think this is just one of those "everybody's different" things (I know there used to be more swaps to choose from so that there was a greater chance that each person could find one that fit them, though)...
- Light to brighten the long dark night - during midwinter holidays, many cultures light candles or set off fireworks to guide their way. Others wait up all night for the first hints of the sun.
- A source of sound, because our other senses are heightened when we cannot see - and to scare away any evil spirits!
- Something to pass the time - this could be a story, a game, hobby or craft supplies or kits.
- Something to nourish the body - this could be edible, self-care, something to bring physical comfort to your Watcher.
-
A sacrifice OR a guardian (or both, if you feel so moved)
- A sacrifice: something that isn't for your Watcher to keep, but that is meant to be destroyed or given away. Different cultures handle sacrifices in different ways - in some traditions the sacrifice represents something of value to you; in others it represents something you need to conquer (for example, in the ancient Roman festival of Brumalia, wine producers sacrificed goats, because goats ate their vines!).
- A guardian: something to protect your watcher. Maybe a small critter, a gemstone known for protection, etc.
-
I'd certainly be up for another Book/Sock/Soap or Book/Sock/Soap/Snack swap or similar sometime soon (ah, alliteration!), but alas, a swap organizer I am not!

re: Switch Witch, Coldfire recently posted this in the GUSP area here on the forum:
"I know that this is usually the time of year my GUSPers get all excited for Switch Witch. Sadly there will not be a SW for the Halloween Season this year. Some of the ringleaders are in the path of Ida, some are experiencing health issues. We would not be able to run a proper SW round now. It is our hope that we can run a round post Thanksgiving for the Winter part of the year. If you have questions, please message me."

@katharina I'm a little confused, I was recommending perfumes with fur notes I'd tried to other people, not asking for leads on perfumes with fur notes I hadn't tried?
I have two bottles of Ivanushka from when it was easier to find (so I'm probably not the target market for "batsy"), but I've been buying BPAL since 2009 and on the forum since 2011, so I thought maybe someone newer who was reading this thread might not know about it and might be interested in finding out about a nice perfume that fit these specifications that was released back in the day.

Seconding Unicorn & Ram. If you really want to go a-hunting, there's always Ivanuskha, an LE from the distant past, and Whoso List to Hunt, a discontinued GC.
