Black Phoenix’s 2018 blob of Christmas Pudding is loosely based on a medieval recipe, and is crafted, as tradition dictates, from thirteen ingredients (representing Christ and his apostles, natch). Thick with treacle, smoky with suet (suet accord, sillies – there’s no mutton fat in this perfume!), and sweet with stirred custard. Oh damn, did I not review this one? According to my notes this one was a cake-pudding (definitely get that custard thing going on!), with molasses (fine, it's treacle) and spice. It was what I would consider a Christmas Pudding/Cake smell. Good throw and wear length.

Fig, peach, white musk and a whiff of sandalwood. I get a ton of fig, and white musk. Good throw and wear length.

Cool rosebud. It's a very pure rose smell, very clean and with a hint of lilies. Good throw despite the age. Simple, lovely, rose.

Creamy cooked rice pudding (without sugar though), honey and a whiff of incense. Gooey, rice pudding and smoky honey. Very delicious. Good throw and wear length.

Soft amber honey with a touch of hay. Dried grass and soft amber honey. Medium throw and wear length.

Icy florals with a whiff of oudh under all that ice, cold florals, and touch of sugar crystals. Perchta in her previous incarnations didn't work for me, but this one comes the closest. However, the whiff of oudh is enough of a deterrent for me. Good throw and wear length.

Beeswax, salty nuts and incense. Oh look, its cream and nuts! Apply all the innuendo at all levels. Creamy, salty, and nutty. Great throw and wear length.

Sweet woods. I get mainly beeswax, wood, and more wood. Medium throw and wear length.

Clove, carnation, and creamy vanilla with a touch of sandalwood. It's a gentle spiced floral. Good throw and wear length.

Rice, white tea and lemon. I got something that smells like sweet and salty popcorn rice balls. Yup, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Good throw and wear length.

Buttery marshmallow and coconut, with a whiff of lilac. Coconuts, marshmallows, and lilacs. With a touch of cedar on the drydown. If you have been salivating for a coconut-marshmallow blend, look no further.

Carnation, hops, benzoin, and whiffs of lavender. This one is a clean resin musk with spiced carnation and lavender. Medium throw and wear length. Very comforting.

Grapefruit zest, ambergris, and powdery white musk. This is a citrusy white musk and ambergris blend on me. Medium throw and wear length.

[No additional description provided.] On wet, I get mainly a spicy pumpkin with a hint of moss. But as it dries, the pumpkin recedes, and you get a tidal wave of oakmoss. It's like a watery mossy with spicy pumpkin notes. It's like a pumpkin patch by a bog. In Arkham. Halloween at the beach? The Great Pumpkin goes surfing? More throw than the rice pudding. More of perfume, thanks to the oakmoss.

Lilith once told me that home is wherever her loved ones are. My sweet girl, may you always be surrounded by those who love and support you. White musk and lavender, frankincense and amber incense, sugar cookies, rose petals, and Florida Water.  I get mainly lavender, and then incense, with whiffs of rosy Florida Water. For me, this is mainly a lavender-based perfume, warmed by incense, splashed with Florida Water. It's very soothing.

All right, so we only saw the Panthéon for a moment because Lilith wanted to hurry the hell up and get some crêpes, but I can’t with this smile. It’s THE BEST. An incense for Sainte Geneviève, patroness of Paris: iris root, frankincense, and violet leaf.  Iris, violet and frankincense. This smelled like yellow flowers, which I think is the combination of the delicate iris and violet notes and the frankincense. Medium throw and wear length. For lovers of iris, violet, or frankincense. I think this one was one of the more subtle delicate blends that after you wear it you realize how gorgeous it is.

Ink, deep moss, and a whiff of rose. I get mainly a deep inky blend. It sort of reminds me as a softer more accessible Manus Dei/Typewriter Incident. Medium throw and wear length.

Creamy lemon, white tea, and lotus root. This is a creamy lemon/white tea blend. It's clean, creamy, and lemony. Gender neutral. Great throw and wear length.

Lilies and white tea. I am getting the lily of the valley, white tea, and hints of another lily and bergamot. If you love lilies, this is a wonderful one to try. Great throw and wear length.

Carnation, amber, and red musk with a whiff of cognac. I recognize that it's blood musk vs red musk, but it's got big jags of spicy carnation floral and amber embedded in this. Medium throw and wear length.

Dark vegetable musk, oudh, blackwood and labdanum. This one is a dark red murky sort of blend. It's musky, rich, and deep. Good throw and wear length.

Sheer vanilla, amber, and rice milk. I get hints of both the frankincense and sweet clove. This is a very sheer, sort of milky blend on me. My skin eats this right up and about 30 minutes of this I barely can smell it.

Black leather, bay rum, hints of smoke and black musk. This is a very manly black leather. Leather, leather, leather. Good throw and wear length.

DARKNESS. This about that oudh, vanilla, and a whiff of vetiver. I get mainly a vanilla oudh, with all of its oudhiness. Which isn't really my jam. Great throw and wear length, of course, because my skin likes to be loved by things my nose doesn't.

Labdanum and vanilla mix on my skin to come out as COLA. Yup, I get cola, amber and a brush of tobacco. But yes, this is a smoky cola. Good throw and wear length.
