    2015 Switch Witch Q&A

Do people mind handmade/homemade things? Rock on with the homemade things! I like food, I like art, I like crafty stuff. Pumpkin? All of the pumpkin things. All of them. I like pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, pumpkin ice cream, pumpkin curry . . . Booze? Significantly less of a fan than of pumpkin. I dont drink, my partner doesnt drink, and other than a very small amount of sake to use when making ramen stock, I dont keep alcohol on-hand. Penny Dreadful? Ive never seen. Want anything from Yellowstone? Be it postcards, key chains, shot glasses, pint glasses, or huckleberry what have you? Im not big on souvenirs, but I do like huckleberries. Jam, preserves, dried, etc, etc would be very welcome. For those of you who don't drink alcohol, can you specify if you live with any drinkers or ever have alcohol on hand for guests, vs. abstaining and preferring not to have it around at all? I dont drink, my partner doesnt drink, and when people leave alcohol at the apartment, I rehome it with a quickness. What are your coffee and tea preferences? Do you prefer one, the other, both, or neither (and if it's neither, what about things like hot cider and cocoa)? Loose leaf or bags, whole bean or ground? Is caffeine OK? Any gadgetry you're in need of? Any brands or flavors that you particularly love, loathe, or want to try? Im not crazy fond of coffee it tastes very bitter to me. Coffee flavored ice cream is tasty, though. Tea and I are friends. I tend to prefer loose leaf (though Im more than willing to use bagged tea), and either chais or fruity herbal teas. In a previous round, I received a box of pumpkin chai and it was delicious. Honestly, the more caffeinated, the better. I dont believe I need any gadgets, though tea cups and mugs would be more than welcome. Purely for ideas, Teavana has a strawberry lemonade that Im fond of, and their citrus lavender sage is awesome. Fruity teas and spiced chai, FTW. Cocoa and cider are both delightful, and would be welcomed more enthusiastically than tea, to be honest. What's your sense of humor like? Do you enjoy puns? Play on words? Dirty humor? Dry humor? Who are some of your favorite comedians? Puns, dry humor, sarcasm, literary references generally, if you have to think about it for a moment, Ill enjoy it. Not so much for scatological humor, though. Do you like board games? If so, which ones? Traditional or more unique? (like Settlers of Catan, Small World, Red Dragon Inn, etc) I definitely do! I like more odd or unusual games. At the moment, I have all of the Red Dragon Inn expansions, Carcassone, Kingsburg, all of Legendary, Settles of Cataan, both the board and card game, Takaido, Miskatonic School for Girls, Dead of Winter and . . . a bunch I cant remember off hand. Is there anything that you specifically do NOT want to receive? Pink things, pastels, or alcohol. Other than that, go nuts. Pictures of decorating style? Sure! http://s19.postimg.org/6rarst9mr/SW_Bedroom.jpg http://s19.postimg.org/vylnt2cqr/SW_Frontroom.jpg Plain or fun socks? Any variety of sock, truly. I like bright colors, jewel tones and, uh, heres my Sockdreams wishlist: http://www.sockdreams.com/_users/wishlists/2719cc458f0dded Name one (or as many as you would like) thing you would like to learn more about? Military and medical history, Warhammer 40,000, meditation and energy work. What one thing you would like to do more of? Knitting, weightlifting What are some things that fascinate you? Or, What would you like to know more about? I enjoy reading about military history, and European monarchies and the development both of forensics and medicine. Would you like any cookie butter (just to be clear, store-bought, not home-made, and does contain wheat since it's, y'know, cookie butter)? Cookie butter is delicious which is why I have a partially eaten jar of it in the pantry right now. If you have local and/or interesting nut butters, or fruit butter/jam/jelly, Id be all over it! Is there any particular piece (or pieces) of art (painting, photograph, etc) that speaks to you in some way? I . . . . wow, that'll take a while. The short version is I like The Grand Canal by Joseph Turner, Adventurers by Norman Rockwell, the Accolade by Edmund Blair Leighton and a whole lotta stuff on DevArt. Also, anything by Stephanie Law, of Shadowscapes.com What kinds of things would you like from the Lilith BPAL or BPTP update (or are you joining a decant circle?) Little Lady Macbeth sounds interesting, and I very much want to get my hands on The Worst Pillow. Do you want to received knit or crocheted items? If so, could you describe or even link to a couple of items similar to what you would like to receive? Id love handmade fiber stuff and would be delighted to receive some. As for ideas Arm Warmers http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4026/4487501129_7116012d7e_z.jpg http://farm1.static.flickr.com/171/466898272_60cc5ca296_z.jpg http://images4-b.ravelrycache.com/uploads/Kelsey42/61914576/P1050736_medium_medium.JPG http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3220/2805527889_bd61b43429_z.jpg Hats/Earwarmer/Headwrap http://images4-d.ravelrycache.com/uploads/Mermaiden/1699894/double-cap-2_medium.jpg http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/sundrienne/18231433/S4200020_medium2.JPG Cowl http://images4-d.ravelrycache.com/uploads/ttwcreative/5116483/IMG_2075_medium2.JPG http://images4-b.ravelrycache.com/uploads/breeanelyse/44397516/tan-truffle2_medium2.jpg http://images4-d.ravelrycache.com/uploads/theyarniad/212420743/starshower7_medium2.JPG http://images4-b.ravelrycache.com/uploads/knitomatic/260506244/Malabrigo_Rasta_Mobius_Cowl_Lotus_4_medium.jpg Scarf/Shawl http://images4-b.ravelrycache.com/uploads/briandavid918/210284807/yarma_medium2.jpg http://farm9.static.flickr.com/8552/8704411485_e69da4effb_z.jpg What thing do you want to do (or get) but you keep putting off for one reason or another? I need a new purse for work, but thats mostly a get myself to the consignment shop kind of thing. Uh, Im totally out of Pixie Epoxy, from Fyrinnae, and thats a problem, as it means my eyeshadow smudges terribly. http://fyrinnae.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=180 Would you like anything from Lush? I quite like their massage bars, solid shampoos and shower gels I got a sample of a very critrusy/grapefruity shower gel and was pleased. I have some of their skin conditioner (smells like roses, maybe the scent is Rose Jam?) and it smells lovely. Do you prefer hand-made or store-bought? I dont have a strong preference. If my witch is crafty and wants to make something, Id be honored to receive a handmade gift. If my witch isnt craft, thats entirely fine. SPICY! Scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being "oh, that's a bit too much black pepper for me" and 10 being "ghost pepper? scorpion pepper? I laugh at these! I love as much heat as you can throw my way!" Where are you? Id peg myself at a 7.25. I havent really got into the novelty peppers Carolina Reaper, Trinidad Scorpion, etc, etc but I like my Thai food with significant kick, and consider red paper flakes to be a pantry staple. What is your BPAL "Holy Grail"? Autumn Moon of the Mirror Stand. I have a partial bottle in my purse, and just smelling it puts me in a good mood. Analog or Digital? Or Both? A mild preference for digital, in that I can read and interact with digital items through my phone. (You know, at work, when I should be, um, working.) What scents from other perfume companies are you really wanting to have in your collection and or are just really wanting to test? Companies like NAVA, Arcana, Solstice Scents, Possets, Haus of Gloi etc.....? Im less familiar with nonBPAL scents, though lessee Possets Kuniyoshi, and Mucha from the Summer Collection, Gingerbread Whorehouse, Madame X Haus of Gloi Honeysuckle Lemon Curd Do you have an affinity for any specific animals? Im fond of foxes, both red foxes and fennecs. I dont have a totem or spirit animal, but I really like foxes. Kitchen Needs or Wants? I could use a new cutting board, and Im nuts about bento boxes. Really. Id love to get my hands on more bento boxes, as the ones I have are showing their wear. Makeup! Do you like it, would you want some? If so what brands do you like to wear? Maaaaaakeup! I recently started a new job, and have been attempting to wear makeup regularly. I like NARS, Fyrinnae and Urban Decay, but those are just the ones I can think of off-hand. When Im shopping for makeup, Im looking at colors much more than brand names. So, um, glittery eyeshadows, fixitives to keep the eyeshadows in place, tinted, glittery lip colors and eyeliners in ludicrous shades. (Really. I had one that was bright purple with teal glitter and Im crushed that it dried and is too hard to use.) In one of my previous gift exchanges, I was gifted a little sample of a cream-based eyeshadow, and my god, that stuff is amazing. It stays put, its easy to apply and its lovely. So, +5 for cream eyeshadow, in wand or stick form. Chocolate fiends ahoy! What kind of chocolate do you like? Do you like any other things in it or just plain good ole chocolate? I like milk and dark chocolate with nuts other than peanuts, or dried fruit bits. Orange in particular is lovely. (I am not allergic to peanuts, just not terribly fond of them.) Please, no white or super dark chocolate. Would you be opposed to receiving a ton of Halloween themed items? Id be cool with it, with preferences for pumpkins, cats and bats. Would you be interested in any special little thing I might be able to pick up from the Great Lakes Bat Festival this Saturday? Both Janell Cannon (author of Stellaluna and other kids' books) and Fiona Reid (illustrator for lots of animal field guides) will be there, so would you possibly be interested in something like an autographed copy of Stellaluna or one of Cannon's or Reid's other books? Or something from the Organization for Bat Conservation, like a shirt or other swag? Sure? Books on bats, fridge magnets or little plushies would all be welcome. What items from the Weenie update interest you, should you have to option of getting anything as a gift from your Witch??? Would you be ok with decants, or bottles? So, Im the worst kind of sucker for pumpkin eeeeverything. With that in mind Frosted Pumpkin Spice Cookie Pumpkin Cheesecake Cupcake Bonfire The Magic Circle The Witches (Oh my god, this one. Want want want.) Bottles are always awesome, but decants would be welcome as well. What's your favorite scary movie? Or movies, either way. If you don't like horror, what are your favorite movies to watch this time of year? Pitch Black! Scary, with Vin Diesel? Yes, please. Blu-ray or DVD? I can do both, with a very mild preference for Blu-ray. Game systems - console or computer? Mac/PC? Which console? Computer PC all the way. My laptop is optimized for gaming. Are you dressing up for Halloween and if so do you need any accessories for if? Um, steampunk guns. Yes. I need steampunk guns. Talk to me about bags, what kinds do you like? Sizes and styles? Good sized, with pockets and some kind of closure. My purses tend to carry eeeeeverything. Bento box, spare cell phone battery, make-up, meds, a spare book . . . Ideally, itd be a slightly crescent shaped black leather purse with a bunch of pockets, a shoulder strap and a zippered or fold over closure, but my primary requirements are good sized and sturdy. Mine is dying, bit by bit, and Ill need a new one in the foreseeable future. What are your favorite fandoms and do you want to receive anything related to such? Um, I like Warhammer 40,000, and Assassins Creed and would be all kinds of happy to receive related swag. What are you planning to order from the Weenies update? The Witches and Magic Circle, probably. The Last Huzzah of the NY Renaissance Faire happens this weekend and I'm going! Is there anything you might want? Uh, painted silks, or hair ornaments would be welcome. Do you like comics or graphic novels? Any issues or collections you want to read? I do! Sandman, and Incorruptable, please! (I have the first two issues, but need the others.) Do you like fanfic? Would you like a story written for you as part of your gift? What characters/fandoms/pairings etc do you like? I love fanfic. Avengers – Darcy Lewis/ Loki, or Darky/Bucky/Steve Warhammer 40,000 – Space Marine/Sororitas (bring on the original characters!) Where do you have wishlists at? If you could please link to them or to a post that links to them. (Amazon, Etsy, Think Geek, Pinterest, Sephora, Lush, BPAL/BPTP, Soap Box Company, everywhere and anywhere!) Amazon - http://amzn.com/w/16TTUA5ZTVHLJ Etsy - https://www.etsy.com/people/DominiquedelMer/favorites/items-i-love https://www.etsy.com/people/DominiquedelMer/favorites/bath-and-body https://www.etsy.com/people/DominiquedelMer/favorites/warm-in-winter Pinterest - https://www.pinterest.com/dominiquedelmer/ BPAL - http://www.bpal.org/topic/127-wishlist/page-113?do=findComment&comment=2353025 Sockdreams - http://www.sockdreams.com/_users/wishlists/2719cc458f0dded Let's say you have indicated interest in receiving a hand knitted item. What colors, exactly, do you like? If you could provide color swatches here or to pinterest (or something visual), that would help out a lot. So, here’s my Etsy wishlist, of knitted things - https://www.etsy.com/people/DominiquedelMer/favorites/warm-in-winter And here’s the color schemes - https://www.pinterest.com/dominiquedelmer/colors/ Would you rather receive a bunch of little packages through the round, a couple of medium packages, or one big package at the end? No preference! Whatever is most convenient for you. For those of us with out-of-country Witchees, would you be happy with receiving a few packages from local to you merchants (say, through Etsy or equivalent)? Ooooh, that’d be cool, too. Would Witchees like something from IKEA? (Or any other not always accessible by everyone store?) No thank you, there’s a local IKEA. I like local foods and candy, though. If/when you go to the mall, for which store(s) do you beeline? Teavana, the Body Shop and the LEGO store, usually in that order. Do you receive any subscription boxes (julep, lootcrate, ipsy, birchbox, etc.)? I do not, but Julep, Ipsy and Birchbox look interesting. A friend of mine is signed up for lootcrate, and I’m less enthused. Do you like tarts/candles/incense? If so, what type of scents? I like candles! That said, I have a strong preference for short, squat characters with glass cases. Tapers are right now – I have very long hair, and the chance of something catching is much too high. Is there anything you wish you could have picked up from the Dragon*Con exclusives? I actually managed to snag what I wanted. Is there a GC you've been dying to try but haven't got around to yet? Ice from the Kabuki line, Sara Pezzini, Witchblade, Violens The questionnaire asked about gold & silver jewelry, but how do you feel about copper jewelry? Do you like colorful jewelry, or do you prefer to keep it neutral? Copper, steel and iron are all good and I like vivid color, though preferable not pinks. We asked about decorating style, but are you interested in receiving decorations for your home? Are you interested in things that go on the wall or things that go on shelves? Things that go on walls. I love putting up art, and am hoping to get as much of the walls covered as possible. I’m very much a fan of the Romantic and Pre-Raphaelite style, such as - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edmund_Leighton Office supplies hound? Pens, pencils, journals, any preference, or favorites? Mechanical pencils, definitely. My holy grail is a leather binder, with a three-ring clasp, so that I can swap in and out paper. Talk to me about socks! Is there anything, dear, dear Witchee, that I can get for you from Sock Dreams? Anything from another place? Soooocks! Here’s my Sockdreams wishlist - http://www.sockdreams.com/_users/wishlists/2719cc458f0dded I like black, wine red and evergreen. The higher, the better. I live near a huuuuge candy store. What kind of candy do you like? Gummies? Caramel? Chocolate? Sour? Sugar-free? Answering my own question – milk to dark chocolate, with fruit and nut mix-ins. Sour gummies are a favorite, with a preference for grapefruit and citrus flavors. How do you feel about animal products? Not so much animal toys or food, but more like furs, paws, bones, etc. I am a fan. I like fur, bone jewelry and hair pins are lovely, and butterfly wings are amazing. Are you interested in receiving any restaurant.com gift certificates for your area? No thank you, I don’t tend to go to the restaurants that they have coupons for. How do you feel about "toys" - stuffed animals and the like? I’m rather fond of them, actually. The gaming room of my apartment is mostly unfurnished, other than a giant beanbag and pillows, so stuffed animals are a welcome addition. I like Squishables stuff, but am not picky. I’m very fond of foxes, but really, cute plush things are welcome. Did you see the eclipse last night? How do you feel about astrological events, like eclipses? Any interest in the Blood Moon Eclipse scent from BPAL? I missed the eclipse, but dreamed about it vividly, so I’m willing to call it good. Not particularly interested in the Blood Moon scent, but I am fond of astronomy. Witchee's, how tall are you? And perhaps, what's your arm span (from wrist to wrist)? I’m 5’4”, with a wrist-to-wrist wingspan of 53 inches. How do you feel about the 4 elements? Or are you more of an Asian 5 elements person? Do you feel strongly about any of the elements, like a connection or a preference? I tend to identify with the four western elements (my husband goes with the five elements interpretation). I strongly identify with fire, and secondarily with wind. How do you feel about bento boxes? Is it something you would use if you were to get one? So much so! Bentos would find a very welcome home, as I pack my lunch and take it to work everyday. Scarves, shawls or cowls? Mittens, gloves, fingerless mitts or wristlets? Shawls, cowls, and fingerless gloves, please. I like large shawls, oversized cowls and red and/or black fingerless gloves. How do you feel about online classes? Like, say, craftsy or creativebug? Or even lynda.com? I think it’d be fascinating to take on of their classes. I’ve gotten classes from The Great Courses before, and thoroughly enjoyed them. What do we want from Paintbox Soapworks? Unhelpful answer: All the things! More helpful: I am nuts about pumpkin, fond of exfoliating scrubs and lotions. I’d be delighted to try one of their shaving soaps, and their scent Gingermilk is a favorite of mine. If I were to make you some art, would you prefer a frame that hangs or one that sits? And what color/style would you prefer? A frame that hangs, please! I like loose, black and white sketches, and brightly colored portraits. Like - http://amberparks.deviantart.com/favourites/57172233/Commissions How do you feel about gourmet marshmallows? I must admit that I’m not particularly a marshmallow fan Are you a slatherer or a dabber? Generally, a dabber. I work in an office and as much as I like wandering around in a cloud of scent, my coworkers might not appreciate it. Talk to me, dear witchies, about tea. I know we've covered this a little, but I really need the nitty gritty here- not just companies you like and don't like (Teavana? Adagio? David's? Some tiny place?) but I also want to know the other stuff: top 3 flavors, loose or bagged, the kinds of tea accessories you use- or have always wanted. Be specific. Provide links if necessary. *cracks knuckles* All righty then! I prefer loose teas, but will use bagged – they’re a little easier to take to work with me. I could use another tea infuser, as I tend to lose them. Preference for mildly cute? I’ve seen some of like, little sharks with fins that poke out of the water and they amuse me. My order of preference goes – Strongly spiced chais Fruity herbal teas Fruity red teas I dig teas from Teavana – Masala Chai - http://www.teavana.com/the-teas/black-teas/p/masala-chai-black-tea Lemon Ginger Herbal - http://www.teavana.com/the-teas/herbal-teas/p/lemon-ginger-herbal-tea Citrus Lavender Sage - http://www.teavana.com/the-teas/herbal-teas/p/citrus-lavender-sage-herbal-tea Strawberry Lemonade - http://www.teavana.com/the-teas/herbal-teas/p/strawberry-lemonade-herbal-tea Have not tried, but curious about - http://www.teavana.com/the-teas/rooibos-teas/p/rooibos-chai-rooibos-tea http://www.adagio.com/chai/masala_chai.html http://www.adagio.com/chai/honeybush_pumpkin_chai.html And any of these - http://www.adagio.com/signature_blend/group.html?group=1338 Villainess is putting out brand new stuff for the first time in a while (as opposed to bringing back former lines). Sooo.... who wants it? I’d love to get my hands on Gingerleaf and Fireleaf. How does everyone feel about duct tape crafts? Any favorite patterns? Not crazy big on them. Are there any flowers you especially like? Morning glories are a personal symbol, as are blue roses. Would you be interested in any cozies or cases (yarn o fabric, not hard cases) for tech stuff (phone, laptop' etc) or for cups/mugs/bottles or anything else similar. Yes, I’d be delighted to get a mug cozy. Would you like Halloween or Day of the Dead themed ornaments or a "bunting"? No thank you. Are there witchees who would like book related gifts like a booklight, bookmark, bookseat or something for your reading gadget, like a cover or a light for example. Ooooh, a booklight, or a cover would be cool. I have a Nook Simple Touch. I make handmade journals, mini albums and similar items. Would my witchee be interested in something like that? Yeessss, yes I would be. A full size, 8 1/2 x 11 binder would be cool. What songs/music/artists/CD's do you like to listen to around Halloween? I strongly associate the Gladiator soundtrack with Halloween. Dunno why. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on Dead Can Dance music, as I understand they're the right kind of instrumental/Gothic. Are you interested in leg warmers at all? Yes. Bring on the fuzzies. Is your Halloween style scary, cutesy, folksy, grotesque . . . ? Uh, sophisticated gothic? Think Morticia Addams. I bought the Portal board game last week & it came with a Portal 2 steam free download code. I already have the game on another console & it's one of my favorite series of all time. Soooo, would you want it? I already have a copy of the game, I’m afraid. Have you read The Martian? Or do you plan on watching the movie? I have not read, but I’d enjoy reading it, and will almost certainly be seeing the movie. NaNoWriMo - Pertaining to that, how does everyone feel about such things? Will anyone be participating? How about NaNo swag, is there any you want? I write both professionally and for fun, but I’m not doing NaNoWriMo. Honey or beeswax products? Discuss. I’m a fan of both. I use a lot of honey, both in tea and in baking products, and I’m fond of beeswax candles. How do you feel about bumper stickers and car magnets? What do you like--cute, pretty, snarky, geeky/fandomy? Fandomy, and/or pretty would be my preference! Do you have any phobia's that your Witch should be aware of? I’m not overly fond of the dentist or heights, but unless my Witch is physically hauling me into the dentist for a cleaning, I should be fine. Trading Post Weenies are live! Anything calling to you? I’d like to get my hands on Blood Sangria and Yes, though getting Yes might be a challenge. Speaking of nail things, it that time of year and I am doing my jamberry order, Would you want some Lovely Jamberry's for your nails? I like nail polish, but not fake nails. Do you like or want to try Marmite? I’ve tried, not a fan, sadly. Some folks have already said they do not want used nail polish. If you haven't already chimed in about that... would you be interested in a bottle of BPTP claw polish (in this case, either Event Horizon or Baku) that has been used for one manicure? I’d be more than willing to receive gently used nail polish. Are there any DISCONTINUED (not LE) BPAL oils that you wish you had, or had a little more of? Not off hand? Is there anything fairly basic that you're always running out of and need to buy more of? Lip balm. I use, and lose, it constantly. Anything interest you from the recent Blooddrop update? I’d love to try Bat Wings! How to you feel about foreign spices/flavorings? I’ll try anything once! Dearest Witchee, can I get you anything from Shiro Cosmetics? I'm going to place an order soon and perhaps you are interested in some of their goodies? https://shirocosmetics.com (https://shirocosmetics.com) Aaaaaaaaah! How did I not know about this site before? From just browsing the site – Ditto, Flamethrower Not Very Effective Sweet Honey Alkahestry Aurora Borealis Cake Glowsick of Destiny Have a Biscuit, Potter Here I Stand Housewife Huntress I Loved a Maid I Tried Ice, Ice Baby Mother of Dragons Moon Prism Power Master Sword Master of Whispers Little Brother Lingered in Twilight Remake !! 2. It may just be my personal scent associations, but Croquet smells like a styling old ghost, who shows up for a haunting with a cane and a top hat.

    Switch O'Ween Questions

Hey, Witchee, it's getting cold. Socks, scarves, hats or arm warmers? I am down for all of the above. I have a Sockdreams wishlist here. I wear arm warmers regularly at work, because my office is kept at refrigerator-like temperatures. I like dark colors, and soft textures, though vivid jewel colors, and color combinations reminiscent of flames and peacocks are also a fast way to my heart. Uh, yay for knit caps - cables are awesome! - and fuzzy scarves. Lots of love. Halloween Candy, Decorations, and Costume supplies - What kind are your idea of FUN and which ones would you thoroughly dislike? Candy: I like Halloween candy - small portions are easier for me to handle. Uh, dark chocolate is good, Twix, Milky Ways, York Patties - I like interesting regional candy, if you have any. Sour gummies are always a favorite. Please no pink-flavored bubble gum, candy corn, or black licorice. Decorations: I like cute things, such as grinning pumpkins, cute bats, leaf patterns, etc, etc. Obscure book references are also good - I'll be making an Elder Sign out of EL-wire. Gross/macabre stuff isn't really my thing. Costumes: I tend to go for elegant, highly detailed costumes. I don't want to look like X. I want to pass for X completely. Steampunk corsets, full kimonos, researched medieval garb: I take my costumes seriously. Pumpking flavored things? Yes. All of the pumpkin flavored, pumpkin scented things. All of them. Are you a fan of anything that you would like a tshirt of? If so, what size would you wear? I wear an XS-S, depending on the sizing. Uh, I'm a fan of XKCD, Game of Thrones, math jokes, pumpkins, Transformers, Celtic knots, foxes and Japanese dragons. What traditions do you partake in for Halloween? I run a tabletop board game for a group of my friends, I go to my parent's neighborhood block party, and this year, I finally have my own place, so I'll be handing out candy. Oh, and I'll be dressing up for work. Dear future Witchee, did you get anything from the Beaver Moon or Weenie updates that I need to know about, so I don't accidentally repeat anything? I ordered Goblin Market and Ookie, but I would be delighted to get Beaver Moon I. From the Halloweenies, I'd like to get my hands on Dark Pumpkin Mead, Morrocan in the Garden, and Snakes in the Garden. Name some DVDs you wouldn't mind receiving, or are they on an Amazon list? Disney films - I don't have enough cartoons. The Lion King, Mulan, Emperor's New Groove, the Great Mouse Detective would be welcome. I love Studio Ghibli films, and still need to get hard copies of Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle. I like action/martial arts movies - you know the kind, where the hero spends most of the movie shirtless? Yeah, those. On a more Halloweeny note, I really like real life forensic shows. The A&E show Cold Case Files, or Solved, the First 48, etc, etc. I'm a sucker for MurderTV. I'll try to update my Amazon wishlist this weekend. Do you want anything from Starbucks or Teavana? Tea, tea makers, rock sugar, tea tins, coffee, via, via refreshers, mugs, tazo tea...? I don't frequent Starbucks all that often, but I would quite cheerfully sell a controlling interest in my soul, in exchange for more of Teavana's tea. Would be much beloved: Marasala Chai Black Tea Maharaja Chai Oolong Tea Dosha Chai Rooibos Tea Pumpkin Spice Brulee Oolong Tea Citrus Lavender Sage Strawberry Lemonade Herbal Tea Pineapple Kona Pop Herbal Tea Sweet Fruit Garden Herbal Tea Rock sugar Cute mugs, or double-walls glass cups would be lovely. (I like their white honey, but there's a local store that sells it for less than Teavana does.) Pinterest - here Say your witch works at a used bookstore. what kinds of things might you like from there? cool old pulp fiction paperbacks? tarot cards? (we have those.) A Dr. Who pen? Books about haunted cemeteries in Seattle? You may have all of these things:) Oh, and also movies and CDs. Booooooks! So, uh, I like books. I have more books than I have bookshelves, and I'm okay with that. I like true crime, urban fantasy, smutty romance, and books of historical nonfiction. Tarot decks are always more than welcome! Oh, books about stuff, in the literal sense - my dad has a book about screwdrivers, and the history of tools that was fascinating. I tend to use mechanical pencils, not pens (I make a lot of typos, and I cringe whenever I have to scribble out my mistakes.) Witchee, the Haunt Halloween update goes live tomorrow! When it does, please post right away and let me know your dreams and wishes! General Catalogue -Cinnamon Girl and Orange Blossom Tea both sound lovely. Perfume Oils - Claw & Cobblestone, Coffee Feind, Gathering, Golden Pumpkin, Incantare, Winchester And all of the lipbalms. Srsly. Table Games - do you play them? If so, which ones, and which versions, and are there any goodies you might like related to them? Yes! I run New World of Darkness every weekend, and more ten-sided dice are more than welcome. The same goes for dice bags, mechanical pencils and nifty folders/clipboards. The publishing company is White Wolf, if that helps. Witchee, are you in need of any particular spices? I burn through basil and red chili pepper at an incredible clip, and more of those spices are always welcome. What do you think of hair sticks? Would you like a set? Yes, yes I very much would. I have very long hair, and I use hair sticks whenever I'm dressing nicely. My only request is that they be sturdy - I have a couple of delicate little pieces that I'm afraid to use. Are there any craft project/s you are working on now that you need supplies for? Or rather, is there a craft project you've been wanting to do but need stuff to start? String! Yarn! Fiber! *ahem* So, I knit, and lately, I've been making kumihimo lately. Yarn, knitting needles, stitch markers, and kumihimo weights are all awesome. (I will update my Amazon and Etsy wishlist with examples, if that helps.) For specifics - I am a sucker for soft fibers. Silk, bamboo, treated cotton, etc, etc. I like vivid colors, (and black. Much of my yarn is black), and minimal halo. Variegated yarn can be fun, particularly when it's a slow shift, such as the Twisted Fiber Art Evolutions. Is there anything you'd really like to have/try from Trader Joe's, or any other popular-but-not-available-everywhere store? I love fruit butters, and salsas. If there are any interesting local foods, I'm more than happy to try them. Would you rather have something fun or practical? There is a question. I'm down for both, really. Uh, I feel bad about liking knick-knacks, as I have limited space, but sufficient cuteness will overcome that. Cards Against Humanity? Sure! Also, Munchkin, Apples to Apples, or Magic. Games, I play them. (Have you ever tried mixing Apples to Apples and Cards Against Humanity? Silliness ensues.) Are you okay with semi-spicy foods right now? I'm thinking like curry or chipotle? If you were to choose a chili powder would you go Hot, Medium, or Mild? Feel the burn! I love me some spicy foods. So far as I'm concerned, chili powder is measured in full teaspoons, not 1/8 teaspoons. Curry or chipotle would both be welcome, and my preference for both is 'blindingly spicy'. If you were this mystery witch's witchee, would you be interested in Spoonfudge or any other such "ordered online" sweet? Excuse me, I have to clean drool off of my keyboard. *ahem* Yes, I'd be delighted. As for Spoonfudge - Chocolate Cherry, Cinnamon (That's How We) Roll, Chocolate Orange, Pumpkin Cheesecake, and Chocolate Raspberry. Also, mochi is a speedy way to my heart. Also - Double checking everyone's baked goods status. Home-made baked goods or other food stuffs OK? I'm more than happy to take delicious baked goods off of your hands. If you baked it yourself, I'd love the recipe, as well. Is there anything you'd like from Lush, witchee? Indeed! I have enough solid and liquid soap to keep my happy for a while, and I have a couple tins of their solid shampoo and conditioner. That said, I'd be delighted to my hands on - The Pumpkin Bath Bomb (so cute!), along with any of their glittery bath bombs. Any of the facial cleansers or masks Any of the body butters, or massage bars Lip balms! I love them. If you like earrings, what kind? Dangly earrings, hoops, studs - what kind do you like? How long do you like your necklaces? Or would you prefer to just get a pendent, so you chain yourself? I have 13 ear piercings, so more surgical steel captive bead rings are always welcome. I wear necklaces regularly, and I prefer shorter chains. (I, uh, have proportionally large boobs, so longer chains tend to look less professional.) I can dig pendents, and my Etsy should have a listing of the kind of thing I like. As for stones - lapis lazuli, malachite, mystic or London blue topaz, amethyst and tourmaline are all awesome. If I were your witch and were to paint you something, what would you absolutely love, what would you feel ambivalent toward, and what would you not like to see or receive? I play a lot of table-top games, and I collect character art. I'm including the information on that below, but I'm stuffing it behind a cut, because it's huge and boring, unless you're into character art. Other than crazy-detailed character art, I like foxes! Cute foxes, foxes getting up to stuff, etc, etc. I like calligraphy, kitsune, morning glories and cute stuff of cats. For example - http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g148/aquagirl1300/FoxandCookie_zps0684ffaa.png http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g148/aquagirl1300/Purrito_zps31a66fb2.png Also this sigil is significant to me, and I treasure the art I have of it. Dear Witchee: Do you have any upcoming away time I should be aware of, for shipping purposes? Nope. I should be in town. Prancing Pony Etsy Shop? Not really my style. Miskatonic Valley Philharmonic To my disappointment, the musks and patchouli has devoured everything that might work for me. Would you like anything from Sock Dreams? My wishlist, let me show it to you! http://www.sockdreams.com/_users/wishlists/2719cc458f0dded Your feelings on Adagio teas: If you've never had anything from them, would you be open to trying them? If you HAVE had them and like them, name some favorites blends. I haven't tried any of their teas, specifically, but I am a sucker for chai teas, and for fruity teas (preferably herbals, but fruity black teas are also nice.) Do you like video games? Are there any you want to play? Do you have a large library? My Pokemons, let me show them to you! I play video games either on my computer, or on handheld devices, but I borrowed a friend's PS3 to play Ni no Kuni (it's a game partially designed by Studio Ghibli.) I play Civilization, Puzzle Pirates and Pokemon, all maniacally. Name three BPAL scents you have tried, but are dying to get more of. General Catalog - Carnal, Kill-Devil, Kumiho Limited - Autumn Moon of the Mirror Stand, Giant Vulva, Halloween: Las Vegas Have you ever tried anything from Paintbox Soapworks? Which products or scents would you prefer? I'd like to try their scrubs, and the following scents sound lovely: Big In Japan, The Queen is Dead Heima Halcyon Gingermilk Sweet Cheeks Lavendar Truffle Also, these look cook: Pink Grapefruit - Shaving Soap Mandinka Shaving Soap Do you like/have space to garden? If so, what do you grow? I have a window box and a rear balcony. I'm not growing anything at the moment, but I'd like to try growing herbs. Gift cards/vouchers - yay or nay? If you like them - which stores would you like one for? Yay! Jamba Juice tends to be my favorite. Seen anything lately that makes you go OH HOLY FUCK THAT'S AWESOME!! ? Specialty dice, mostly. I keep my Etsy updated with all of the shiny things I find. Name five small things you could use, but might not think to get for yourself? Uh, I need a new stick of mascara. I'm running low on thin hair ties, scarves and lotion. Oh, cute cell phone dongles are always fun. Is there anything from a farmer's market you might like? Fruit butters! Also, jams and jellies. How do you feel about nail polish? If you like it, are there any brands or colors in which you are interested? I don't have any preference on brand, but I like *deep*, vivid reds, glittery colors and metallics. I don't care for pinks, or pastels. What about makeup? What brands do you prefer and which products would you most enjoy receiving? Urban Decay does good things, as does NARS (admittedly, their stuff is expensive), but I use a wide variety of brands. I like glittery shadows (so much glitter!), eyeliners in all colors, and brown mascara. I am a sucker for tinted lip balms. Honestly, toss glitter at me and I will be a very happy camper. Are you interested in anything from the Haus of Gloi yule update on November 3rd? Which products and which scents? Scrubs - Potter's Breakfast, Eggnoggin, Rosy Cheeked Perfume Oil - Glogg, Hearth, Parkin Butterbombs - Sugar Plum and Holiday Citrus The lipbalms - yes. I'll take any of them. I'm a sucker. Do you prefer to receive whole coffee beans or ground? Also, if you like flavoured blends, what sort of flavours? (caramels, nuts, chocolate, etc.) I'm not really a coffee person, I'm afraid. If I made fairy, dragon or butterfly wing earrings, would you wear them? If so, which would you prefer? Good lord, yes. Preference for butterfly wings, then dragon. Yeeesssss.... Is there anything you would like from the Blooddrop Halloween update? Fragrances Halloween Not Ever Again. Chai Tea (oh, god, if you get any of them, get this.) Candied Yams Autumn Delights A Coffin Built for Two 8:30 AM Whipped Body Cream Vanilla and Ginger Apple Pumpkin and Honey How do you feel about robots? I, for one, welcome our robot overlords! (Also, the boyfriend does a lot of programming. Robots are fun.) Do you want to be an early accepter or would you prefer your reveal later in the swap, say maybe closer to the deadline? I don't have much of a preference. I tend to be a sekret-ninja-witch, and typically only reveal myself in a note in the final package, but if my witch wants to unmask, I'm fine with that. Are there any GC scents that you love, but for whatever reason, you keep putting off buying bottles of? Hellfire, Fox Fires on New Year's Eve (III), Kitsune-Tsuki, Kiyohime Changes from a Serpent (III), Kumiho, La Vague, War, The Fox-Woman Kuzuncha Leaving Her Child (I), O, Velvet I'd love to get my hands on White Rabbit. If your Witch were to create a cookbook of recipes she thought you'd like, would you be interested in that sort of thing? And if so, what sort of recipes would you be interested in? Hell yeah! Holiday recipes, soups, meatloaves and cookies are all more than welcome. If you happen to have a favorite recipes for bread, or for eat-this-to-feel-better, that'd be awesome. Also witch do you like use candles? I do! I have a number of small Moroccan lanterns, so I go through tealights at a good clip. I also like the scented candles that come in glass jars - they're self-contained, tidy and difficult to knock over. These are important attributes. I don't have any preference on color, but I like pumpkin-y and sweet scents. Would you be interested in getting a kit of sorts to learn how to do a craft or make something, with some basic starter materials and instructions? And if yes, what sorts of things would you be interested in learning? Crochet would be cool - I have the yarn and needles, but instructions would be awesome. (Also, erm, books on weightlifting for newbies would be cool.)

    Warm Pumpkins and Fall Leaves

Favorite colors for something crafted/knitted: Black and jewel tones – dark red and dark green in particular Colors you absolutely do not want for something crafted/knitted: Pink or pastel colors. Which fall holiday do you celebrate if any? Halloween, and any other holiday that lets me dress up and mooch candy. Favorite scent notes: Pumpkin, ginger, citrus, sweet foody scents Scent notes that you absolutely do not want: Dirt, vetiver Any food or other allergies? Pets, cigarettes, etc? Pomegranates Vegan/Vegetarian? Nope Links to wishlists (amazon, bpal, thinkgeek, etsy, whatever!): http://www.etsy.com/people/DominiquedelMer/favorites/items-i-love/ http://amzn.com/w/1GHCOWHMZDTFH http://tinyurl.com/DomsBPALwishlist Favorite material types (yarn or other): Silk and cashmere – the very soft, snuggly stuff. Anything that feels soft when nuzzled. Materials you will never ever want to touch (acrylic yarn, leather, velvet, whatever you have an aversion to.): *shrug* No particular dislikes. Do you like fingerless mitts? Color? Length? I do! Black is always a good color, as all of my jackets are black. Mid forearm to elbow is a good length. I have several pairs of these that see regular use. How 'bout scarves and hats? Plain or fancy? Lacey? Color/width/length? Yay for hats and scarves! I like fancy scarves and denser hats - cables and fancy stitches are delightful, so long as the hat is warm. Jewel colors - blood red, evergreen, royal purple and deep blue - and black are always welcome. I like loooooong scarves, but that's a purely stylistic preference. Can you wear (very soft, fine) wool? Do you prefer not to (for whatever reason)? I can, and do. Very fine wool is lovely. Top three favorite hot beverages? Be as specific as you like (ie not all hot cocoas are created equal!) My boyfriend makes chai, using spiced black tea as a base. Loose leaf black tea blended with spices, like this are ideal. Part of the fun is seeing how different spice mixtures affect the chai, so if there is a teashop close to you, I'd love a sample of a local blend. Sweet fruity herbal teas, preferably loose leaf. Berry and citrus notes are always lovely, as are pumpkiny tea. Flavored cocoa, with a preference for minty or raspberry flavors. If there's a brand that you know is good, I'd love to try some. Glass pendants: Flame colors - reds, oranges and yellows, and vivid blues and greens. Tell me about one thing you have trouble finding for your favorite fall holiday. Pumpkin jewelry, like this, and fitted black t-shirts with pumpkins, black cats, etc. A while back, I found a black Hello Kitty shirt with the kitty next to a pumpkin, and I haven't been able to find it since. Any fandoms or favorite shows/movies (even if you're not overly-obsessed)? I like Game of Thrones (the books in particular, but the TV show is fun), Supernatural, Burn Notice and the Avengers. I read a lot, and am fond of Pratchett, Sharon Shinn and the Bolo series started by Keith Laumer. Also, uh, historical nonfiction - big, fat books that go into great detail about European history are awesome. Are you religious and if so does it influence stuff you like/collect? I'm the boring kind of nondenominational Protestant, but I like Catholic saint medals and rosaries, and collect them when I can. Commercial candy (premade)? Types, amounts, any other preferences I can't think of? Uh, I'm always a fan of interesting local stuff, and of what you could call novelty chocolate/ Chili-pepper chocolate? Bring it on. Ginger and sesame seed dark chocolate? I want to try some. A while back, I found some cinnamon chocolate that was *amazing*. Other sorts of commercially-available treats (seasonal or otherwise)? Uh - dried fruit, like dates, or nuts (walnuts! pecans!) always go over well. I bake a lot of bread, so interesting goodies that I can add to bread are welcome. I'm a sucker for truffles, I will admit. Do you have gift wishlists (Amazon, Etsy, Kaboodle, etc.) that aren't in your signature or profile? I have a profile on Amazon and Etsy that's included in my questionnaire. My blog has all of my questions from my last Switch Witch, so if you have any questions, please, look at my blog. If your Warmer Upper sent you a tiny bottle of booze, would you report them to the cops or would you high five yourself and drink it? What kind of 'hot' drinks do you like? I don't drink, but flavor extracts, like vanilla, would be cool. Candles- love'em hate'em what kind do you like? Full Beeswax? scented? If scented what kind? Bring on the fire! I have a number of little lanterns in my bedroom, so scented tea lights would see regular use. If not tea candles, I tend to like the kind that come in little glass jars/containers (I have very, very long hair, so open flame is not my friend.) I love scented candles - pumpkin candles are one of my favorite things about this year. Also, vanilla, or spiced blends. Mmmmm. How do you feel about pictures, such as photographs you might hang on your wall? If I sent one, would you display it? If it was cool, there's an excellent chance it would go up on my walls. I tend to make great big collages of pictures pulled from National Geographic, well as art I've gotten online. I like vivid colors, Japanese and Chinese calligraphy and traditional art, art noveau, angels and foxes. Lots and lots of love if it's something with kitsune. Some examples of stuff I like - The Grand Canal by Joseph Turner Adventurers by Norman Rockwell The Accolade by Edmund Blair Leighton My favorite's list, on DeviantArt and just about everything by Stephanie Pui-Mun Law. Jewelry Prefs? Earrings? Necklaces? Bracelets? Good Lord, yes. I tend towards necklaces - I wear one just about every day. Bracelets and earrings get less use, as I tend towards long sleeves and although I have thirteen ear piercings, I tend to keep the same captive bead rings in and not mess with them. Necklaces and hairsticks see the most use. Speaking of - hey, Pumpkin, how do you feel about books? Is there any book, series, or genre that you've been reading lately? Booooooks! I've been getting back into Stephen King (appropriate for the upcoming holiday) and I read a lot, mostly fiction, but also with a fondness for historical nonfiction, particularly on medieval Europe through the late Renaissance. Not just do you like/want books, but oh Punkin, do you have an e-reader/would you like e-books? I have a Nook, and I use the Kindle platform on my cell phone and laptop. Yay for ebooks! Would you like spooky/thematic books? I'd enjoy them. (Also, I dig cookbooks, so a Halloween/pumpkin cookbook totally counts.) Bring on the horror, the pumpkins and the murder mysteries. Favorite tree?! Leaf shape! I like peach trees, and citrus in most varieties. Both peach and citrus are similarly shaped, oval with a slight point. Do you garden? I don't, but my apartment has a balcony and a windowbox, and I've been meaning to start growing some herbs. I have the pots, and the dirt, but no seeds. If you happen to have, oh, basil, or mint or something tasty and difficult to kill, I'd be delighted at the challenge. (Also, I'd send you pictures of the stuff as it grows.) Hey, Pumpkin - the days are cooling off, do you have a preference for tea/cocoa/arm-warmers/candles? Arm warmers, oh my god. My office is painfully overcooled, so my hands are typically cold. That said, winter is coming, and I like to have a good supply of tea stockpiled for the inevitable February Hacking Cough. Sweet, fruity herbals teas tend to be helpful. How do you feel about bath products such as soaps, scrubs, shower gels, lotions, etc.? Any preferences (bar soap over liquid soap or shower gels; sugar scrubs over salt scrubs, etc.)? Anything you're trying to avoid? I'm fully stocked with soap at the moment - I have several big bottles of liquid soap, and a ziplock bag full of little soap samples. Scrubs are fun, and I'm running low on lotion at the moment. I have a mild preference for sugar over salt scrub, but it's nothing significant. Mostly, I need lotion at the moment. Villainess has some lovely stuff, and I'm mad about all things pumpkin and sweet smelling. Let's talk socks. Tall? Short? Fuzzy? Wool? Whimsical? Colors? Any special fit issues? OMG, socks! I am very much a fan of socks. (Regardless of my current weight, or body image, socks are love.) As for what kind of socks I like, the answer is 'yes.' I like thigh-highs, and ankle-highs and knees highs, stripes and pictures and fat fuzzy fluffballs. Also, here's my SockDreams wishlist. What's your Fall holiday decorating/accessories style? Cute little ghosties, baby witches, and happy faced pumpkins? Natural, with cornucopias and arrangements of gourds, pumpkins, corn, etc.? Sort of rustic or country? Classic bats and ghosts and skeletons and monsters? Total kitsch? Blood and gore and prop dismembered limbs? I like vivid colors and cute things. I don't have any window-clings, but they'd be awesome, and I can put them in the bathroom, and in the windowbox. Cute pumpkins, leaves, maybe a couple of really adorable bats. I tell horror stories, but I don't tend toward creepy decorations. Would you, my dear little pumpkin, like something from the Mütter Museum? Their book selection - particularly on forensics and pathology - looks fascinating! Do you like real maple syrup? How would you feel about real homemade maple syrup made from trees mere feet from my front door? That would be delicious. I'd love to try some.

    Beaver Moon 2012

I'm not quite certain what to make it this. Sniffing the bottle, it's sweet, foody and a little hard to explain. I can see how it could be cheesecake, but I'm at a loss to pick out individual notes. On my skin, the apple comes out a little - it has similar apple cider notes to Fearful Pleasure, and this is a good thing. The longer it sits on my skin, the more apple there is to it, from the creamy roundness in the bottle. I approve.
  6. Dominique

    Pumpkin V

In the bottle: Oh my God, it smells like Gluttony, in the best possible way. Sweet, melty foody goodness. On the skin: There's more of a pumpkin note, buried in a pile of vanilla. Overall: This reminds me of Pumpkin Patch V 2009, which works out well, as that's my favorite of the Pumpkin Patch series. It's sweet, it's pumpkin and it's very much an edible scent. If that's your bag, go for it.
  7. I'm getting a little worried - I placed on order through CCNow on January 25th. I understand that it usually takes the Lab about a month to get around to orders, but it's been longer than that. Is anyone else still waiting for their Lupercalias, or should I email the Lab?
  8. - If you were a tree, what would you be and why? A peach tree. Their blossoms are lovely - http://www.chinaodysseytours.com/cotmanager/assets/images/news-images/peach-blossom.jpg They’re not tall (and neither am I), the fruit tends to be a little fuzzy (), and they sometimes take on more than they can cope with, in that occasionally young trees will over-fruit so heavily that branches will fall off. Also, the peach figures into a number of myths, as both a ward against evil and as a symbol of immortality. How cool is that? Do you need any winter wear, witchee? I like knit hats! *shifty look* Something with bobbles might be fun... or the headbands/earwarmers that I mentioned in previous questions. I've read something about a Event Exclusive called Pumpkin Hard Candy. Are you interested in this scent? How desperate are you for it? I am interested! Not desperate, but interested. Going back to the question about winter wear, are there any colors you would prefer not to have? Pinks, pastels. Um, puke green is a bad color? Other than that, I'm pretty flexible. So I was at Uwajimaya the other day and saw Earl Grey Tea Chocolate and Cinnamon Chocolate. If you were my Witchee, would you be interested in trying something like that? Chocolate tea cake would be yummy, but in as much as I like sweet teas, I've tried chocolate tea and wasn't impressed. Do you like scary books? What's the best/scariest thing you've ever read? John Steakley's Vampire$, seriously. It's the book that the movie John Carpenter's Vampires was based on (though I've never seen the movie). It took the whole 'sexy vampire' thing and ran in a horrifying direction with it. Also, 'Salem's Lot, by Steven King was pretty creepy. Are you interested in anything in the latest round of Lab auctions on eBay? I'm interested in Giant Vulva on principle. (We will *ignore* the fact that I have a partial bottle in my box, and a full one in the mail. Ignore that entirely.) Needlework - I think it's a Shunga, and it has ginger and tea. Gun Moll - do freaking want! I haven't even managed to sniff it, but from the description, it'll be very useful in cosplaying. Also - gunpowder! I'm curious about Voodoo Queen, but not (as of this posting) $70 worth of curious. Midway sounds delicious. I like the Monster Baits, and Bloody Mary sounds fun. Voyeurs Among The Cherry Blossoms is a vanilla Shunga, and I approve on principle. But mostly, Gun Moll. *makes grabby hands* What favorite song(s) would you think would translate into a cool or unique scent? Damn, now that's an interesting question. I'm basing this in part of the videos of the songs, particularly for Thought of You, and Eye of the Storm. So - - (Well worth watching maximized and at high res). It's this elegant song about love and what happens *after* love. There's more longing than passion and the choriography and animation are beautiful. - In all honesty, the song itself doesn't do a lot for me, but the song in combination with the music video is haunting and I would dearly love to see Beth's take on it. - This is based purely on the song, not the video. It starts very restrained, with vocals and a harp and builds up to this vibrant rhythm perfect both for dancing and ritual work. Om Nama Shivaya - is fabulous for extended dance and ritual work and I'm very curious as to what it would smell like. Anyone interested in VApothecary's Halloween update? I . . . I am not even going to search for that. I found some stuff on Etsy that's both awesome and expensive and wandering through yet another perfume etailor will *not* do my wallet any favors. Interested in anything from the Beaver Moon Lunacy update? Beaver Moon, naturally, though I'm more interested in a decant. I sent you with $20 into a drugstore/Walmart (nothing too fancy/imported/expensive, just your average selection), and you are restricted only to the candy aisle. What would you blow it on? A bunch of sugarfree mint gum (I'm not actually crazy about it, but it helps my breath and keeps my mouth busy - these are good things). I'd get a bunch of peanut butter cups so I could bribe my boyfriend and then I'd probably get a bar of Dove milk chocolate. That stuff is *yummy* when you melt it down and dip raspberries in it. RE: Jams. So, witchee, are you interested? Hell yeah! I love berry jams/jellies and pumpkin butter makes me *very* happy. And nifty kinds of honey are great for baking. The best thing I ever ate...: That is a hard question. Um . . . raspberries with warm melted chocolate, and/or a half-baked cookie with a scoop of ice cream. (Also, meatballs made out of *really good beef* with spicy marinara sauce). Um . . dim sum downtown, with good tea, and fresh mochi are all possibilities. *ahem* As is the French toast my boyfriend makes, when we have the weekend to ourselves. How would you feel about getting a custom poster with your favorite quote on it and some cool graphics? I'm an architecture student and can print posters (provided I make them) at pretty much any size using Adobe Illustrator at a low price. Also if you would be interested in this, what quotes would you like? That would be cool! I have lots of wall space, so big is excellent. As for quotes, the poems and quotes I mentioned in the first part of the Q&A would work well. How do you feel about loose leaf tea in baggies? I mean, I have a TON of loose leaf, would it be okay if I send you samples in some zip lock baggies? Or is that something that would squick you out? As long as it was labeled, that'd be awesome. (I have some unlabeled bags that I can ID by smell, but that leads to madness very quickly.) How many boxes are you hoping for? I got one box already - thank you witch! More boxes would be awesome, but I go one, and that's a shiny. I had been hoping to send out multiple boxes myself, but shipping to [undisclosed location] is more difficult than I'd thought. The plan at the moment is to ship The Box tomorrow morning, with a follow-up package, if the packages-in-the-mail arrive in time. Right now, I just want to get things to my witchee. What is your favorite kind of cookie? Chocolate chip is full of yummy. (Ideally, gooey. Like, half-baked, falling-apart-in-your-hands, kind of gooey). Failing that, soft gingersnaps, heavy on the ginger. Do you like listening to audiobooks? I really do. Or, if you could recommend some amusing/informative podcasts, I'd love to listen to them. If you are my witchee, would you want some homemade chilli jam? Please! Cameras/photography? Not my hobby, I'm afraid. Are you musically inclined? Do you play an instrument or sing? If so, what? I like flutes, though I'm not good with them. Do you like liquorice? If so, hard or soft? Sweet or salt? Normally salted or so salt it pulls your face into a fishy shape? And which shapes do you like? Not a liquorice fan, sadly. Are there any DIY / Crafty / Free / Budget items you'd love to get but haven't noted yet? (Or, maybe you'd just like to emphasize something you may have only noted in passing?) Recipe. Really. I enjoy reading (and cooking) other people's recipes, even if they involve nothing more complex than ramen and peanut butter. Quinn Popcorn Um . . . not really. We have this great big jar of plain popcorn, a popcorn maker and butter. I'm set. Question: If you're the MMO type of Witchee, what Geek Chic Cosmetics tickle your fancy? Eyeshadows: The Imp, Brotherhood of Crows, Blood Bond (*such* a great color), Six, N7, Mana Battery, Solid Snake Glitters: Frag! (it's a rainbow black! Wheee!), Plasma Tell me about something you like, and why you like it. Um . . . I like hummingbirds, because they're tiny, freakishly fast and intensely territorial. To quote one of my favorite artists, Ursula Vernon - "People trying to describe hummingbirds always find themselves stuck with the phrase "living jewels." Rather than succumb to unoriginality, I proffer the alternate descriptions--they're like hyperactive Jolly Ranchers with wings. They are small oil-slick-rainbows with eyes. They're what would happen if you asked Salvador Dali to design a rhinoceros. Screw it, they're like hummingbirds. There's nothing else quite like 'em. They are also completely insane, being size sixteen spirits stuffed into size .0005 bodies. A hummingbird, in its own mind, is ten stories tall with grenade launchers and gunports. A hummingbird knows, down in the hollow toothpicks of its bones, that it can kick your ass." Is there a movie you want so badly that you don’t own now? *considers* Priest, I think. I have a terrible weakness for silly horror movies and I really liked the chain-fighting sequence. Is there a song on iTunes that you haven’t downloaded yet? Yes, as a matter of fact. I've been accumulating a list of the happy-bouncy-driving songs that I listen to. (They are songs that only sound good when you're going 60+ mph. I fully understand my taste in music is *abominable*. Please don't judge me.) Is there a rare book you’ve always wanted? If you asked a month ago, I would have said The Chronicles of Master Li and Number Ten Ox, but I got my hands on it not too long ago, and I am very happy with it. Is there anything you want to buy yourself but have been too embarrassed (R rated or PG)? *shifty look* So, I was at Walmart the other day, and they had this *adorable* Halloween-themed Hello Kitty shirt, but only in the very young girl's size. Anyway, I *cannot* be seen buying SanRio stuff, I just can't. So, um, Halloween-themed Hello Kitty stuff, preferably shirts. As for R-rated stuff *ahem* I have no problem getting that stuff. I'm good like that. If you were my witchee, would you want some of my hot nuts my candied nuts my nuts covered in butter and brown sugar candied walnuts? I'd be delighted! Have you seen the Lush holiday update? Do you like the look of anything from there? I like LUSH's massage bars, and solid shampoo, but in all honesty, their stuff is terribly expensive (and yes, I'm aware of the irony of saying that on a BPAL board). Also, I generally prefer Philosophy's scents. Tarot? Decks, rune stones, books on palm reading, etc, etc are all welcome. Am I the only one? Does anyone else like collector Barbies? I'm not into Barbies. (Anymore. I was nuts about them pre-puberty, but I'm more into leather and revolvers now.) The Klimt Barbie is pretty cool, though. What small everyday items would you like that you keep forgetting to get? I go through sugerfree mint gum and lip balm at a terrific clip, but other than that, I'm mostly set. Any interest in WhimsyBeading, the Etsy shop? She does lovely work, but I have large piles of beads, and I make my own beaded necklaces. For those of you that like candles, do you like stuff from Yankee Candle? And if you had to choose, tarts or candles? I like candles, I just use them terribly infrequently, so it's not worth buying more. Does anyone want anything from... here...? Oooooh, yes. The pumpkin ones, any of the marshmallows, the s'mores cookie jar, the red velevet and . . . and the Hot Chocolate and Creme Cookie. Or really, any of their cookies. Or, better yet, any of *your* cookies, my dear witch. Luck charms? Yes! I like Japanese-style good luck charms. (Or saint medals. Those are cool too.) Nocturne Alchemy's NAlloween Pt. 2 update is live here! (And for a few days, last month's update too.) What do you want? I . . . I'm not feeling it, honestly. CocoaPink looks like more fun, really. What are you drooling over from the Sock Dreams Halloween stuff? The stripes, mostly. The Foot Traffic Striped Thigh Highs (black & burgandy) Striped Over the Knee (black & pumpkin, The Candy Corn Stripes (Yes, I know they're out of stock. They're still cute.) Foot Traffic Rainbow OTKs K. Bell Knee Sock Stripes (multi bright, black & orange, black & red, black & white) Also, the tabi socks in the clearance section are cool. And the Ciala Wool Cable Tights, good lord yes. Reveals? I'm planing on revealing myself as soon as I can get the Package of Doom into the mail. Who likes silly items from Archie McPhee??? I do not, I'm afraid.
  9. A question! If you are crafty, what's your personal art style? I'm not talking just about what art you like to look at, but what kind of art do you like creating? Do you have a "process" while you're creating beauty? Um . . . ? As it regards knitting, I tend to obsess. To explain - I'm prepping to start working on a new project, a crescent-shaped shawl similar to this one. I've been picking out the yarn for about a week now, and I stayed up until 2 AM last night, making certain that I had the necessary techniques down. I have an idea of how I want the end product - a bright slash of flame colors, vibrant red beads and the feel of silk and cashmere - but beyond a general feel, I don't have the specifics. Are there any characters that you love or identify with? Identify with: Fionna Glenanne, from Burn Notice Pepper Pots, from Iron Man Love: The cast from Shaun the Sheep Richard B Riddick, from Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick Tony Stark, from Iron Man Amigurumi, yes or no? Yes. Yay for tiny knitted cats, octopi and foxes. Name your 3 favorite types/flavors of tea 1. Sweet, fruity herbal teas 2. Chai 3. Ginger/ginseng based teas (useful for when I'm not feeling well) Name your 3 favorite scents for candles Have a good week! 1. Pumpkin 2. Warm spices (cinnamon, cardamon, ginger, nutmeg, all spice) 3. Vanilla Would you like any ecotools makeup brushes? They're kinda one of my favorite things ever, and they're animal-friendly and the handles are bamboo. And to top it all off, they work really well for applying makeup. I'd be delighted. I have some brushes, but they're starting to die. Do you like Legos? Especially mini-fig key chains, Lego block keychains, small Lego sets, etc? Yes, yes I do! Since the previous question about "what would you buy from the Lab if you had unlimited funds, etc" left WAY too much to the imagination with no limitations (my answer was pretty much BUY ALL THE THINGS!), what would you do if you found a $50 bill on the ground and a nagging voice in the back of your mind told you that you HAD to spend it on BPAL or else face Death. Also, say they had free shipping (LOL) so don't factor that in. What would you get? And spend it all! Or as close to $50 as you can get. Hmmm . . . Kill-Devil - 17.50 Baobhan Sith - 17.50 A Picnic in Arkham T-Shirt - 15 Of course, I'd have to mug some poor passerby for shipping and handling money, but it'd be totally worth it. What are some of your favorite paintings? (famous or undiscovered?) Feel free to link to examples! I . . . . wow, that'll take a while. The short version is I like The Grand Canal by Joseph Turner, Adventurers by Norman Rockwell, the Accolade by Edmund Blair Leighton and a whole lotta stuff on DevArt. If you could have an image painted for you - sky is the limit - what would it be? *grin* I already answered this question - I'd have art done of my characters. That, or a formal (and slightly fey) portrait done of myself and the boyfriend. Darling Witchee, would you enjoy farmer's market pickled veggies (green beans, garlic, asparagus, etc) or fresh canned peaches or something of that nature? I would be all over that. Pickles and olives are good, garlic would be nifty, asparagus would go sad and unloved (so would green beans, I'm sorry to say.) Canned fruit, of any variety, would be glorious. As would fruit butters - I really, really like apple/pumpkin butter. Do you prefer color or white photographs? Nature or abstract? Color, though specific-color prints can be nifty - I have a really cool black and white picture of a flower, with a single piece of color. Nature prints are preferable to abstract, as I go nuts trying to figure out what the abstract piece 'is'. Would you be interested in getting fountain pen inks or art supplies via JetPens and or DickBlick? (I know I have a wishlist on JetPens and just love using fountain pens in my artwork.) Pencils and pens are all kinds of useful to me, and fountains pens are fun. Also! Multipens! (My boyfriend gets so cranky when I make off with his favorite pens. I mean, I give them back . . . when I can find them. Which isn't often.) How would you feel about getting a palette filled with paint from my watercolor tubes but not getting the paint tube itself? How do you feel about getting art supplies in general? (copic markers, watercolor, brushes, paint, sketchbooks etc.) I am . . . artistically-challenged, sadly. I'd be appreciative, but unable to give them a loving home. -How do you feel about Threadless tshirts? I poked through the site - most of it didn't really appeal to me, but a couple of the shirts were cute. Jinx and ThinkGeek are more my style, really. If you were turned loose in a basic drug store (CVS, Walgreens - a pharmacy with attached mini-mart, basically!) with a $20 bill, what would you pick up? I'd probably end up with a Reese's Pieces bar (for the boyfriend), a pack of sugarfree, minty gum (for me), a tube of Burt's Bees lotion and some mechanical pencils. If I had a dollar or two left over, I'd grab a paper folder or a skinny binder. (I've found that stuffing knitting patterns into my purse results in wadded-up, unreadable patterns. Folders make me a much happier knitter.) Dear witchee, how do you feel about lip balm? Favorite style (twist up tube, pot, tube with wand, etc.)? Favorite flavors? Flavors to avoid? Favorite brand? Do you need more right now or are you set? Are you one of those people who could never have enough lip balm even though you have a bowl on your dresser overflowing with them and 10 in your purse and an order for more on the way? *deep inhale* I like lipbalm. I like tubes with wands, squeeze tubes and pots, in roughly that order. I live in a very hot place, so twist-up tubes tend to melt upside down, then be useless. I like mint, vanilla, chocolate and pumpkin. Not so much on the cherry flavor of lip balm, though I'm generally a fan of cherries. Also, the menthol-y, tingly kinds of lip balm are awesome. As for brands - on the pricy side, I like Philosophy's lip gloss. Their Caramel Apple and Cinnamon Buns are good, and although I haven't tried them, the I Love Candy Corn and Sugar Sprinkles Funnel Cake looks like fun. (I'm very, very fond of their Red Velvet lip gloss, but I think that's just a winter seasonal item.) On the less eye-stabbingly expensive side, Bonne Bell's lipLITES are cheap, taste and smell good, and I carry them in my backpack, makeup bag and knitting bag. (I linked to the website, though the last time I got my hands on them, I did so through Ebay.) Anyway, their Mocha Mousse flavor tastes like chocolate and is a really, really great pink color. I always need more lip gloss, on the grounds that I tend to lose them almost at the same rate as I lose my hair ties. (Which is another thing that I can always use more of.) A number of Witches on the SW thread mentioned the Long Winter Farm. I'm not familiar with them, but any lip balm that smells like gingerbread, ginger-peach, or hot cocoa, or blueberry crumble or . . . really, any of the flavors, other than pomegranate. Also, Burt's Bees does some good stuff. How do you feel about franken polish? Are you okay with all chemicals, or would you prefer 3 free? Would you want glitter or holographic glitter? What colors would interest you? Franken polish looks like a lot of fun, and I have no idea what 3 free means. Sunset colors are good - red, vibrant orange, gold, as are metallics in general. Also, glitter is awesome. What strange misc. items would you love to receive that you just haven't gotten for yourself? Bento box stuff, eyeliner pencils, lace-weight yarn, yarn bowls, d10 dice and dice bags, and of all the random stuff, an American Tribal style bellydance headband and hip scarves. Would you like/wear a pair of these? If so, what color? Yes, and either in red, green or black. Is there anyone here who likes toe socks? You know, those socks with a place for each toe? Yes, yes I do! Sock preferences? Stripes! Thigh-high! (Or ankle-length). Bright, eye-searing colors! Yay for socks! How do you feel about pumpkin scented things? Not perfume related, but soap, candles, etc.... Pumpkins are love, and they smell (and taste) delicious. If you had an international witch, is there anything you would like from the UK? (Or Australia, Belgium, France any other country we have witches from. *grabby hands* Local candy and tea! Local recipes (anyone else madly fond of meatballs?)) Also, Frey Chocolate. I had a bar of their Cardamon and Cinnamon chocolate and it was glorious - but they don't ship to the US any more. *sadface*. I hope this doesn't offend anyone, but small religious things - scripts, charms, saint's medals - would be very welcome. Team Sherlock or team Watson? From the books, Sherlock. From the new movie, Watson. From the TV show Elementary, Watson. Team Marvel or DC? DC! (Which happens to be my initials, which helps...) Do you wear t-shirts? Are there particular things you like on them? Would you like one designed by your Witch? And, if you don't mind saying, what size t-shirt do you wear? Yes! I like cartoon foxes, cartoon fish skeletons, kanjii, arabic script and poetry/lyrics. I wear a size small, but if you were to send me a large or extra large, I could modify the t-shirt to be even more awesome. I really like three-quarter length and long sleeves. Dear Witchees, are you interested in sample boxes such as The Little Black Box or Sweet Diva boxes? Yep! They look like fun. Witchee, would you like a framed photograph and of what? Foxes, the aurora, the Pacific northwest forests, Japanese shrines, calligraphy, or castles in Europe. Anyone going to see any good concerts this fall? Unlikely, though I still have fond memories of when I went to a Josh Groban concert. Are you looking for a certain kind of DVDs to spruce up your collection right now? Miyazaki films (Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, etc, etc), and action/adventure films. I really like martial arts films and genre films (think Underworld, Priest, Daybreakers or the TV show Supernatural.) Does anyone like postcards? Is anyone willing to be a Nacho witch for postcards? Postcards are fun and I'm happy to send them out for someone else. I can even do basic calligraphy. How do people feel about little pocket shrines, maybe something inspirational/motivational to keep in their purses/backpacks/whatever? I'd be delighted to get one. If it helps, I'm very fond of the Fushimi Inari shrine and I hope to both visit there and get an omamori from there at some point. Do you like Star Trek? Original TV series, films, spinoff series, etc? Favorite characters? I'm not terribly familiar with it, but I am very fond of the new films. Lots of love for Bones and Spock. How do you all feel about Whoopie Pies? What's a Whoopie Pie? Are your ears pierced, Witchee? Do you have any other piercings? Would you like to receive any items of jewelry for these piercings? I have thirteen ear piercings and am very fond of jewelry. Since this is a Halloween round, what's your Creepy threshold? Are you a cartoon bats and smiley pumpkins person or a skulls-and-bones the-dead-are-rising kind of person? Are your fairytales dark or Disney? When it comes to art, I'm all about the cute black kittens and the smiling pumpkins. I like cute. When it comes to stories, the creepier the better. I read Stephen King as bedtime stories, and I run a horror RPG every week. How would you feel about gummies? Like, gummy bears? Gummy werewolves? Gummy vampires? I love gummies. Gummy worms, gummy bears, gummy grapefruit (so yummy). I, um, particularly like the clear (pineapple), green (apple/lime?) and yellow (lemon). Gummy cherries! Gummy grapefruit! *Drooooool* Witchee: How would you feel about a totally original Gela-skin for your laptop/iPod/phone? Stickers? Decals? Uh, sure. They look nifty. Anyone love Buffy/Angel? I'm a fan. Not a mega-sized fan, but a moderate sized fan. (And oh, God, I have read soooo much fanfic.) Doctor Who? Yay or nay? Nay. I've seen a few episodes and it looks like fun, but I'm more into Burn Notice and Dirty Jobs. Do you like beef jerky, I know some may be vegetarian, but where I live beef is a staple and beef jerky abounds. If so do you it really thin, hard and crunchy or thicker and softer. I'm not very familiar with beef jerky, but it sounds good, and if there are any local/personal favorites, I'd love to try it. (I'm in the thicker and softer camp, btw. ) Also do you like or racier ecards from time to time and do you need to be warned if something may be not safe to open at work? I'm cool with racy e-cards. Do you like Star Wars? Original Trilogy? Prequels? Spin-offs? Favorite characters? I admired Han Solo's hind end in the original trilogy, and Amidala's costuming in the prequels, but other than that, I'm not terrible fond. The boyfriend however, is mad about the series as a whole, and the books in particular. His favorite characters would have to be Wes Janson, Hobbie Kilvan, Wedge Antilles and Lieutenant Kettch. How do you feel about maple syrup? As long as it's actually maple syrup, and not corn-syrup-with-maple-flavor. It's a useful cooking ingredient. (And the boyfriend loves it on his pancakes.) Are you more prone to order out or cook at home? Would you be interested in cookbooks, kitchen utensils, and the like? If so, anything specific? Cookbooks would be very welcome. I have most of the kitchen utensils I need, but the stacking kitty measuring spoons have been calling my name for years. Honestly, your favorite recipes/cooking tips/cookbook would be very welcome. Or a badass apron. No ruffles, please. Do you like chex puppy chow or muddie buddies? Would you want to get some from your witch / nacho witch? I'm not terribly fond of it, I'm afraid. How would you feel about receiving a Groupon deal for something in your local area? If it's for something awesome, sure. From the Weenie Update....what are you most wanting to try? From the 2013 Halloween update, I have Ookie and Goblin Market on order. I'd like to sniff Theme in Yellow, Dark Pumpkin Mead and A World Where There Are Octobers. Who's into nail polish? What colors/brands? I like metallic colors, glitters and deep blood reds. No particular brand preference, just please no pinks. Emerald greens and deep glittery blues are always lovely. Social Media? I have a Facebook account, that's used exclusively to play Frontierville. I won't link it, because no one needs to know the depth of my obsession with little cartoon animals it's boring. My LiveJournal account it similarly empty. Really, I'm most active on the BPAL forums. Dream candle? Scent, color, type (tealight, votive, pillar, jar, etc.), throw...? Probably a large jar candle with a spiced pumpkin scent. No color preference, as I typically burn them in a quiet corner. I like the smell and the light more than the shape and color. Do you like knitted goodies? If so, what would you like and what colors? I do! I very much so. Scarves, arm-warmers/fingerless gloves and hats would be awesome. (Mittens, I'm afraid, would get less use. My workplace is terribly overcooled, but I still have to type, so I need my fingers free.) Honestly, a headband/earwarmer like this or this would be very useful. I have a bunch of piercings, some of which are gauged and my ears get cold. (The pictures are from Ravelry, this and this pattern, respectively.) Blacks and vibrant colors are awesome, pastels less so. If it helps my Ravelry ID is DominiquedelMer and my list of favorites is long. If it helps, I like long/slow variegation. Would you be interested in homemade edibles that are NOT sweets? Any specifics? I would! Homemade bread, preserves, spice mixes - whatever would be yummy. Pickles and olives are good. I'm allergic to pomegranate, but that's all. What GC do you live in mortal terror of the lab discontinuing, but never get around to buying? Wanda, Kill-Devil and Baobhan Sith. I have much-loved imps of all three, but I haven't gotten around to buying them. I’d been planning on getting a bottle of Gluttony, but missed out on that one. Is there a quote (or lyric or part of a poem) that really resonates with you or is your favorite? *shifty look* I have a Word document that's about 120 pages long, of quotes that I like. If I had to pick a few... Ring the bells that still can ring Forget your perfect offering There is a crack in everything That's how the light gets in. -- Fairy stories are more than real: not because they tell us dragons exist; but because they tell us dragons can be defeated. -- All night I could not sleep because of the moonlight on my bed. I kept on hearing a voice calling: Out of Nowhere, Nothing answered "Yes." Do you have wishlists for non-BPAL e-tailers? And if so, could you provide a link or a list? My Etsy wishlist/favorite list is here. Witch, do you use a PC or a Mac? PC all the way. What is your favorite animal? I like foxes. I mean, from a symbolism perspective, I like phoenixes, but I really like foxes. Also, big, cartoony bees, with wobbly eyes are good. Like this. (Picture cropped from one of Fredrik K T Andersson’s sketches.) What are you going to be for Halloween? This year, I'll be running a tabletop role-playing game for a group of friends, and handing out candy. If I can arrange it, I'll also attend the block party in my parent's neighborhood, dressed to the nines. If you could have a piece of oil painting jewelry (pendant, pair of earrings, or ring) with absolutely anything painted on it, what would it be? I'd love to have a Japanese dragon (they're your standard Asian dragon, with three toes), a phoenix, or a fox. If animals aren't really an option, this sigil or morning glories (warning - large image). If you prefer wall art instead, same question as above. The same, really - dragons, phoenixes, foxes and morning glories. And I like wall art. How do you feel about nick-knacks? Not terribly fond of them - I have a couple as mementos, but if it collects dust and can't be handled, not so much. I have a few of http://dragonsandbeasties.deviantart.com/gallery/27245844 sculptures, but that's about it. What traditions (family, holiday, or otherwise) are important to you? Um . . . we do Christmas and what not at my place, but they tend to be full of family drama. My boyfriend's family does Chinese New Year, which is delightful, and I run a boardgame night on Halloween. Also, I make pumpkin bread with my dad on Thanksgiving, and I read the Witch's Spell from Macbeth while mixing the batter. Do you like going to the movies? I do! What are your favorite restaurants? Oregano's and Buca de Bepo. (Also, Papa John's. Yay, pizza.) I frequently get lunch from Jamba Juice, if that counts as a restaurant. Do you play any video games? I play a lot of World of Warcraft and a lot of tabletop roleplaying games, New World of Darkness in particular. As for computer games, I typically go for turn-based strategy games, usually the Civilization series. Do you like any anime? I'm fond of some of the movies by Studio Ghibli, particularly My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away and Kiki's Delivery Service. I'll watch Azumanga Daioh when I want something cute and fluffy. Beyond that, I’m not really into anime. The boyfriend watches a lot about it. Do you have an E-reader/iPad/something similar that you need a cover/case for? I have a Nook Simple Touch with a basic cover, but something with leather would be awesome. How much do you like jewelry? I am very fond of shiny things. How would you like to receive some of your Witch's favorite recipes, tailored to your likes/dietary restrictions? And specific wants? I would be delighted to get recipes that my Witch is fond of. I love old cook books, and the feeling of having something that someone else has read through and used before. Do you need any boxes to store your smellies in? What would you store in said hypothetical box--imps, bottles, supplies, all of the above? I have one of these boxes to hold my bottles, but I only have one open slot left, and I just ordered *ahem* several more bottles. I have enough little boxes to hold imps, but I'm running out of space to hold my bottles. Help would be appreciated. Muppets: yea or nay? Nay Do you have an affinity for Calvin and Hobbes, Peanuts, The Far Side, and other comic strips? If so, which is your favorite? I like Calvin and Hobbes and Zits. Do you like hair things barrettes, headbands, flowers ... I like kanzashi and hairsticks, particularly the carved ones. Do you like to burn incense? If so, what are your favorite kinds...sticks? cones? resins? What are your favorite scents? I like candles, but incense doesn't do it for me, which is disappointing. I like the idea of incense, (much like I approve of the idea of coffee), but the reality doesn't really work for me. Harry Potter - a fan? If so, what house are you? Yes, and Slytherin. It's the shenanigans and the cunning. If you were to receive a gift card, what places would you like to get one from? Um . . . *shifty look* Fascinations? Jamba Juice would get a lot of use - I go there for lunch frequently. If you RP, tabletop, forum, or otherwise... Do you have any original characters you'd like to see art of? If so, please give information! Even if it's a link to a web page or a profile or picture! I'd like to apologize in advance - I do a lot of tabletop gaming, and I like art. This'll be a long answer. So, I have a *ahem* number of characters. Candice The character is a human woman who hunts monsters (generally for very large bounties). She uses guns. Lots of guns, preferably large guns. She's equally fond of rocket launchers, though that tends to result in paperwork. She's a slightly built Caucasian woman of average height, with long red hair. She has blue eyes, and freckles that she hates. She wears jeans and t-shirts, or semi-military clothing, such as cargo pants, combat boots and sleeveless undershirts. She very seldom smiles and takes herself terrible seriously. I'm after a general sense of threat or menace, rather than specific details. If it's at all helpful, she's a Hunter, from New World of Darkness. Reference pictures: An in-game sketch of her (the art is bad, but the feel is *perfect*), a better, black and white sketch, a delightful color picture Midori Midori is half fox-spirit and half plant-spirit. (It's a long, long story that boils down to 'a wizard did it, when drunk'.) She's quite young, very playful, and equally likely to look like a young teenager as she is to look like a fox kit. In either form, she has green hair/fur with plants growing out of it, depending on her mood; generally flowers if she's happy and thorns if she's not. Reference picture: A sketch in green, the Stupid Fox webcomic on DevArt is useful reference material. Kyouhei The second picture is also based on a friend’s character. He’s a Japanese martial artist, tightly muscled, with a tattoo of a Japanese dragon on his back, on part of one pectoral and along one arm. Generally, he wears sleeveless-shirt or Chinese-style button down shirts. (If muscles + intricate tattoo aren’t appealing, long-sleeved shirts are always an option.) He has short hair, no piercings, and other than the tattoo and being distinctly Asian, he doesn’t have any identifying marks. He has tan skin, dark hair, and brown eyes. This character is *happy*. He plays pranks, he pesters people, he makes jokes at hideously inappropriate times and is comfortable with nudity when no one else is (and when everyone else in the party would greatly appreciate it if he were to put his pants back on.) The style he studies, Chang Quan, emphasizes aerial techniques, so when fighting, he only rarely has his feet on the ground. The kind of aerial stunts he pulls: -[link] (Large image) -[link] Tattoos - [link] - [link] - [link] Reference picture: Black and white sketch Felix Felix is a Japanese catboy, devious as all Hell, and invariably up to something. He's in his mid-twenties, Japanese and wears a red collar with a silver bell. Other than cat ears, a tail and slitted pupils, he looks human. He has a moderate build and some visible muscle mass, but he's not ripped or super skinny. He's kept as a pet, so other than a fundoshi and the collar, he doesn't wear a whole lot. As far as personality goes, he tends to be playful, and very fond of sulking/crying to get his way. Huge wobbly eyes are his favored form of manipulation if he's ever denied anything or if he’s caught raising hell – which happens frequently. If possible, I'd like him to be messing with a catnip mouse, yarn, or stalking a bug. For this character, chibi-style is perfectly appropriate. He's based on the Japanese Bobtail breed, and as such his tail is short, only about 8 inches long. Reference picture: A chest-up sketch, a full body (warning - discreet nudity) If you could see anything, what would it be? Can be a person, an event, a landmark or monument, an object, etc. And it doesn't have to be on this planet, or in this time period, or in this reality! Um, that's a hell of a question. I wouldn't mind seeing a singularity, or a triangular bubble, but I don't think I'm caffeinated enough to give the question a proper answer. I was reading through the Switch Witch thread, and a couple of people mentioned how awesome it would be to see Azeroth (the setting of the Warcraft games) in person. I'd love to see/talk to a Naaru. So much glowy. Is there a particular myth/folktale/legend/fairytale/godstory that you're drawn to? A couple of posters have mentioned the legend of Hua Mulan, which I'm also fond of. There’s also the story of the koi and the waterfall. To quote the Shadowscapes website, "In Chinese and Japanese legend the lowly carp spends its life trying to swim up the Yellow River. At the source of the river is a great roaring waterfall. If the koi were able to swim up that waterfall, it would be rewarded and transformed into a dragon. Thus, the koi is a symbol of personal advancement, perseverance, determination in the face of impossible obstacles, and inner strength." Also, stories of kitsune and of Tamamo-no-Mae are delightful. I like playing Tamamo as a sophisticated villainess in some of my tabletop games. She's intelligent, dangerous and utterly ruthless. When you are having a really rough day, what do you like to do/have to make it a little brighter? I'll curl up on my giant bean bag, watch silly Miyazaki movies (usually My Neighbor Totoro or Spirited Away) and eat udon noodle soup. If it's an option, I'll take a hot bath, slouch around the house in oversized plaid pajama pants and a slinky shirt. Sometimes I'll knit, or read a book. If I can find the DVD, I'll watch Wall-E, which is my catch-all feel-good movie. What are your thoughts on comics? Any you like? Any you have been wanting to try? Favorite characters? *shifty look* I like the Sandman (and most of Neil Gaiman's stuff), and am very fond of DC comics, particularly the Justice League of America stuff. Oh, and the Flight Comics. Are you musical? Do you play an instrument, and if so, what? If not, what do you wish you could play or do? I'm not really musical, to my parent's disappointment. I played the flute in high school, and I'd kind of like to relearn it, or the shakuhachi. Does anyone garden? And if you do, what do you grow? If not, would a starter garden kit be something you'd be interested in? My apartment is small, but I have a window box that's shaded and a balcony that gets full sun. I'd like to try growing some herbs. Do you decorate for Halloween? Is your decorating taste elegant, kitschy and fun, or scary? I like elegant, though I don't normally decorate. (Me and my boyfriend made an Elder Sign out of Christmas lights last Halloween, but his parents insisted that we take it down, on the grounds that the religious fundamentalists in the area might think it was associated with Satan worship.) This year, now that I have my own apartment, I want to put up pumpkins and lights. Witchee, do you have any symbols or totems that have special meaning for you? This sigil means a lot to me. (Explaining it would take up at least as much space as the character art question.) Similarly, phoenixes and morning glories carry meaning for me. Foxes and kitsune mean a lot to me. Is anyone fond of programs like Adopt a Tree/Highway/Library/Manatee/Acre of Rainforest/etc? I support the goals of the Heifer Project. Are you interested in anything from the Villainness Bad Apples update? I like the Just Right and the Twistappel soaps. What #1 actor, director, author and/or musician are you obsessed with? Actor: Vin Diesel and Jet Li Author: Sharon Shin, Clive Barker, Terry Pratchett Musician: Josh Groban, Loreena Mckennitt, Jon Schmidt If you have a pet, would he/she/they like to receive a treat or a toy as a gift? Does your pet have any dietary restrictions or other preferences w.r.t. said treat? *ahem* Do not not have a cat. That said, I have a boyfriend, and cat toys would be much appreciated, preferably, the kind with feathers and bells, not the edible kind. What are your top three "I want to try them but I think I'll never get to try them" (or, "I've tried them and I want moar moar moar, but I don't think I'll ever get any") scents/bath oils/sprays? Perfumes: Monster Bait: Closet, Pumpkin Cheesecake, Hellfire, Gluttony, Candy Butcher, Baobhan Sith, Monster Bait: Tokyo Stomp, Monster Bait: Underpants, Love's Philosophy, Lovers in a Ricefield, Lovers with Rutting Cats, Lump of Coal Roomsprays: Cathouse, Okiya, Massage Oil: Ignis Is there a particular artist and piece that you would like a print of? If so, what is your max size that you could spare on your walls? Shadowscapes art is lovely, in particularly these three pieces. I have lots of open wall space, so size isn't a problem. If you are in to beauty and makeup related stuff, what kind of stuff do you like? What is your skintone and hair color? Are there any beauty products you've wanted to try but just never purchase? Here's a fairly recent picture, with minimal makeup. A second picture, all dolled up for a costume party. That's about as heavy makeup as a wear (though the black patterns were just for the performance). I love glitter, whether it's lip gloss, eyeshadow or just standard body glitter. Some kind of lip exfoliater might be fun to try, or just various eyeshadows. Do you like coffee or tea? Would you be interested in trying some different types? I down a lot of energy drinks, some tea and very little coffee (I don't have a coffee make and I worry about the coffee staining my teeth.) I prefer fruity teas, or chai, as I primarily drink those. If you have a different kind of tea that you're particularly fond of, I've be honored to sample it. Are there any CDs/Albums you've been wanting but haven't bought yet? What format do you prefer? Would you like to receive a mix-CD from your Witch? Josh Grogan's CDs, in particular Closer and any of Hayley Westenra's albums. MP3 format, or CDs would be easiest and I'd be delighted to receive a mix-tape. Also! Jon Schmidt's music is unutterably lovely. And I don't have any of his music. Do you enjoy any outdoor activities? Do you have a favorite form of exercise? I live in Arizona and it's ungodly hot here. The less time I spend outside, the better. Any witchee's with a ravelry account have any favourited patterns that cost money that would be a welcome gift? Yep! The link is here. Do you work/study at a desk and enjoy interesting or cute office supplies? I do! Witchee, are you a fan of musicals? If so, which ones? I like Les Misérables in particular. Are you going away for any part of this round? Nope, I should be here for the entirety of it. Do you have an Etsy shop? Do you know of any Etsy shops that are Switch Witch friendly? I have an Etsy wishlist here, but no Etsy shop of my own. Do you mind lightly used goods? I'm very comfortable with used goods. Would a gift or a postcard from Disneyland make you squee with delight or puke into your mail box? It'd get a smile, but I'm not wildly fond of Disney. (Pixar, and Studio Ghibli are different stories...) What are your favorite types of Halloween candy? Erm . . . I'm trying to ratchet back the candy. Milk chocolate stuff? (I really like pumpkin, but I dunno if something like pumpkin butter counts as Halloween candy.) Do you prefer soap or shower gel? Please give examples of your favorite scents or brands. Philosophy makes some excellent stuff. I Love Candy Corn, Harvest Spice, Caramel Apple, Autumn Air. Also, Villainess makes similarly excellent stuff. Pyromania, Dulces en Fuego, Ginger Snapped LUSH's solid state shampoos are also fun. Seanik, and New. I'm not familiar with Paintbox Soaps, but they looks shiny. How do you like your chocolate? For example with nuts, mint, peanut butter, caramel? With raspberries! Also, cinnamon. Preferably not with peanuts or peanut butter, but pecans are yummy. Also, I prefer milk and semi-sweet chocolate, rather than dark. Beads! Do you use them? Would you want some? What sorts of beads do you like? I love beads! I knit, so brightly colored crystal beads, or big pendant style beads would be lovely. In short, if it's shiny (but not pink), I'll be all over it. I prefer beads with slightly larger gauges, as I usually work with larger thread/yarn. Also! Lapis and silver beads, in the Afghan style - I like belly dancing. Would you like a hand dyed or hand painted scarf or wrap or other item? If so, what colors/designs/fabrics do you like? I like silky, and I like drape-y scarves and shawls. As for colors, I like bright, jewel tones. Examples of colors, go! http://www.twistedfiberart.com/v/vspfiles/photos/categories/85.jpg http://www.twistedfiberart.com/v/vspfiles/photos/categories/215.jpg http://www.twistedfiberart.com/v/vspfiles/photos/categories/334.jpg http://www.twistedfiberart.com/v/vspfiles/photos/categories/110.jpg http://www.twistedfiberart.com/v/vspfiles/photos/categories/141.jpg http://s55.photobucket.com/albums/g148/aquagirl1300/?action=view¤t=2142.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g148/aquagirl1300/2232.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g148/aquagirl1300/Tao-OctoberAfternoon.png http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g148/aquagirl1300/20090920160200-RCHW2_galaxy_map800.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g148/aquagirl1300/2717513321_91d9b4eee0_o.jpg http://farm1.static.flickr.com/197/475942493_ecf4312fe1_z.jpg http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/WithAnEye/71592297/DSCN0989_medium2.JPG Failing that, black and blood red are always, always good options. This was a question before, but does anyone here like stones? Just pretty polished stones for use in whatever purposes? I'd be all over a good chunk of lapis, obsidian, bloodstone or malachite, if it was well polished. And another question; anyone like anything in particular from Think Geek? The caffeine t-shirt (*ahem* I wear a size small...) Caffeinated bodywash! Snuggles! Pinterest, do you have boards you want to share or are you following anyone with great boards you want to share? Here's my board. . . Would you like to receive e-books? And if so, in what format? I have a Nook that takes books in .epub format, and I have a Kindle platform on my cell phone and laptop, in addition to being able to handle .doc and .pdf formats. If you have kids, would you be interested in getting things for them? And if so, what are they interested and what sizes are the wearing now? No children. Would you be interested in a felted handbag? Do any of these styles appeal to you? My backpack (and the much beloved laptop it carries) goes everywhere with me, so I don't get much use out of purses, I'm afraid. A many-pocketed messenger bag might get some use, but probably not a purse. Are there are patterns, motifs, etc that you especially like? A couple of other people mentioned sari prints, which are lovely. Art Nouveau is lovely. As are big, fat, googly-eyed bumblebees . What? They're cute. Don't judge me. *shifty look* Witchee, would you be interested in having a special tea cup/coffee mug/glass to drink out of? I'd be delighted! Preferably, a big soup cup, or a tiny tea cup for chai, but if you find something nifty, I'd be honored to have it. I'm lefthanded, if that matters. I like glass cups, as they let me see exactly what color the tea is. (I have this one tea, that's brilliant pink...) Picture cheerfully yoinked from Google. If you're a tea drinker, is there any specific tea you would like to receive, not just the kind/flavor but also the type/packing--i.e., tea bags, loose tea, compressed, etc? Loose-leaf fruity stuff. Oh! And anything that's heavy on the ginseng and ginger (it's helpful when I'm not feeling well.) Also, chai, preferable loosely. Um, blooming teas are always lovely. Anyone here like caramels? Sea salted caramels? I don't mind caramel on ice cream or something, but caramel by itself has a habit of yanking my fillings out and that gets horrifyingly expensive. Please, no caramels. How would you feel about kitchen towels and other similar household objects, if they are pretty or a souvenir? White muslin/linen tea towels are always handy, and if you find something cute, I'd love to have it. How did you dress up for your last party or compulsory-formal-dress occasion? *ahem* I'm so glad you asked. There was a costume party back in July, and well, I take my costumes seriously. I wore a bindi, I got covered in henna, I paid waaaay to much for that skirt. And I had a lot of fun. And then there's the Chinese dress (warning, large picture is large). I really should have ironed it.... Do you enjoy puzzles/riddles? (Cryptograms, Sudoku, Crossword, Jigsaw, etc) *shifty look* I'll play Sudoku on my phone, if I'm bored enough, but for the most part, mazes and crosswords just make me cranky. Puzzles are fun, though. Any interest in works of writing? Short stories/flash fiction and the such? I'd be delighted to get some. Poetry, descriptive scenes and short stories/drabbles are always fun. I can rattle off all the genres I like, if that would help... Can you sum yourself (whether it be personality, life's goals, ethics, whatever) in 10 words or less? *blink* Um . . . . probably not? How about little bottles of booze? Ya wanna? What kind? I don't drink, but little bottles of extracts would be put to good use. What are your views on fudge and brownies? (Also, if you live in a warm place, where the fudge might melt, that'd be helpful to know. Or, if you're diabetic and fudge is death, that'd be useful to know, too.) What about mochi? I love all three. Fudge is best when it has chocolate in it - I'm less fond of the white chocolate/caramel versions of fudge. Brownies are best chewy, if that's an option, and peanut butter free. I live in Arizona, so my mailbox gets really warm, but if the package is insulated, the fudge should be okay. Mochi is love and is devoured accordingly. If I were to get some, I'd be all kinds of happy. Anything from the Trading post update ya'll are liking? Not really. The 2013 update didn't really grab me. Does anyone like kimchi? *flees* I like pickles and olives, but I am not a kimchi fan. Would you be interested in a sample box (from somewhere like Birchbox or loosebutton)? I'd be delighted! Paintbox Soapworks - anything you're interested in, in general or from the latest update? I'm not really familiar with Paintbox, though it looks lovely. From wandering their site, Gingermilk, Smiling Jack, the Queen is Dead, Indian Summer, Big In Japan, the sample set (with, say, The Queen is Dead, Big in Japan, Gingermilk, The Englishman and The Charming Man.) Do you guys have any sports that you follow obsessively? How about favorite teams and/or athletes? *ahem* I love men's synchronized diving and gymnastics. A whooooole lot. But for actual team sports, not so much. How do you feel about notebooks/journals/stationery? Anything you need or particularly like? Folders and binders! I run a variety of tabletop games, so folders for character sheets (and knitting patterns) always find uses. Um . . . I like leather? Leather-bound folders/books/binders are always lovely. Like so. Does confetti/glitter make you angry or fill you with glee? Glittery make-up/lotion is glorious, envelope-full-of-confetti not so much. How do you feel about stuffed animals/plushies/general soft, cuddly things? If you like them, what kind of animals would you be interested in? Foxes and otters. I like plushies, I just don't have a whole lot of space for them. And I just thought - how interested would you be on somewhat personalized bottle cap labels? Sure? I read through the post and I'm still not precisely certain what they are, but the certainly sound nifty. When you're miserably sick (*sniffle, cough!*) what are the things that comfort you the most? Sweet, hot tea, a soft microfiber blanket and a ragingly hot shower with scrubby things - either good soap, or some kind of sugar scrub. Also, pain meds, but that's not really something for the Switch Witch. Um, massages are also good, and I'm low on massage oil. Chicken soup - or recipes - are also very helpful. What constitutes ultimate luxury to you? Having my hair styled in a salon and wearing hair ornaments. Warm, soft towels after a hot bath. The feel of silk, alpaca or cashmere yarn/fabric. After having given it some thought, I think I associated luxury primary with textures and colors - silk, cobalt glass, the rainbows bouncing off of crystal. (Also, pancakes and fruit salad first thing in the morning, prepared by someone else.) Painted silk wall-hangings. Dark chocolate and fresh raspberries, and someone to share the taste with. Also, a bathtub big enough for the boyfriend and I to be comfortable, with sufficient hot water. I really want to visit a ryokan at some point. Do you blog? Would you like a header for your blog, a layout, etc? I don't blog. Would you be interested in a handmade bookmark? I'd be delighted to receive one. What do you really NOT want? Bows, frilling things, pink stuff. Coffee. Scents with vetiver. Food with pomegranate in it. Knick-knacks. (I like trinkets that can be worn, but if they can't be used or worn, they don't do much for me.) Liquorice-flavored stuff. Witchee; interested in anything from Lush? I really like their solid shampoos and massage bars. I take more showers than baths so the bath bombs wouldn't get a whole lot of use. The shower jellies look like fun, though. Miscellaneous: The boyfriend is from New Mexico and is *mad* about Hatch green chilis. If you have recipes that use them, they'd be cheerfully accepted. *ahem* I've noticed a number of comments on the forum requesting not to recieve products tested on animals. Although I completely respect this, I like fur, leather and meat. A great deal. (Particularly beaver fur, good lord, that stuff is lovely.) You have to place a Lab and Trading Post order. Right fuckin' now. No spending limits. What do you buy? [Warning long answer is very long!] Well, after I get over the heart palpitations, I'd get - (Never sniffed, and curious) Dawn: Mother Det. Patrick Gleason The Curator Mommy Fortuna Detestable Putrescence War Hunter Kaidan Molly Grue Sara Pezzini Mama Ji Lemon-Scented Sticky Bat The Fox-woman Kuzunoha Leaving Her Child Three Brides Cupid Complaining to Venus Itasô Kansei Nenkan Jorô No Fûzoku Fox Fires on New Year's Eve at the Garment Nettle Tree at Oji Kiyohime Changes From a Serpent Schlafende Baigneuse Spirit of the Komachi Cherry Tree Kyoto Moscow Shanghai Dirty Dwarf Elf Gnome! (C'mon, it has ginger, nutmeg and lube in it! How can I resist?) Mage Rogue (Probably a couple of bottles. I'm required to like it, on principle) Chaotic Evil Miskatonic University Belle Vinu Prunella Alice's Evidence The Dodo How Doth the Little Crocodile Katharina Tamora Persephone Black Phoenix Hell's Belle Hellcat Kuang Shi Maenad Scherazade Zephyr Embalming Fluid Hunger Jezebel Kabuki Araw Ng Mga Patay Autumn Cider Devil's Night Elegy IX: The Autumnal Pumpkin Princess Samhain Regina Erebi The Golden Apple of the Sun The Green Apple of Venus The Glittering Apple of the Stars The Changeling An Incubus Leaving Two Sleeping Women Muse of the Night Sentimental Initiation The Ta-Ta (Want more of) Vice Queen Alice Lady MacBeth Kali Lilith Aglaea Baobhan Sith (*ahem* A couple of bottles...) Kitsune-Tsuki Kumiho Wicked Bliss Fae Grand Guignol Kill-Devil (A couple of bottles. It's so gloriously sweet on me.) Velvet Ladon Bordello Carnal Les Bijoux Wanda Pumpkin Latte
  10. Would you be interested in the #occupywallstreet scent? No thank you, both from a political perspective and because it has patchouli. Do Paintbox Soapworks' Goat's Milk Hand and Body Creams sound like something you'd like to try? Gingermilk! Do want the Gingermilk! Same for the Lavender and Pumpkin. Is there anything you either didn't like or had never heard of that you're now curious to try thanks to the discussion in this thread? CocoaPink sounds very interesting. Is there anything you would like from Sephora? I like eyeliner of all colors (the Urban Decay 24/7 line has some good stuff), I like very glittery lipgloss and blush. NARS has some good stuff. Describe your sense of humor. Um, let's try some pictures instead. A snail. A bee. A road sign. A game of croquet A cartoon How do you feel about hemp? jewelry, soap, etc? I like hemp jewelry and I like the smell. Is there a magazine that you DON'T read because you can't find it near you, but wish you could? Not really. Do you like reusable grocery bags? If so, do you like the kind that fold up (ie Chico Bags?) Nope, disposable ones have way too many uses. You get a package in the mail containing 3 things you have really wanted more than anything else you've mentioned so far in this thread. (they are all reasonably priced of course! ~$20 or less apiece). What are they? Socks! Like . . . . thigh-high fishnets or something. Or little black footies. A tarot deck/rune set/something for divination. A cute set of knitting stitch markers. Bees, or sheep or pumpkins or something similarly silly. Who's interested in Halloween: Montreal? I love candy scents, but dirt notes make me very dubious. I wouldn't mind sniffing it. Would you like anything from this particular Haunt update? I'm not familiar with Haunt, so I don't know if the scents I listed are from the update or not. (And I had to wander through several different sites to find these scents, so I could be terribly confused.) Winchester Pumpkin Cake Coffee Fiend Cinnamon Girl Sweet Jane Roma Any thoughts on the new Villainess update? Of the current Black Label scents, Birthrite (whipped) is the only one that appeals to me. New Question: Witches, did you lament NOT getting one of the condom case/imp cases that got released with the courtesan series? Not really. I mean, they're nifty, but I wasn't crushed when I missed them. I recently saw candy corn in non-candy corn flavors like CHOCOLATE and CARAMEL APPLE. It's not a fancy brand, I just saw it in the drugstore, but who here would like something like that? I like candy corn - in very, very small quantities. I'd prefer you didn't get me any, as I'd eat a kernel and a half, and then throw the rest out. Question. What kind of bear is best? Gummy bears, naturally! I have a question- What kind of purse do you prefer? Leather, cloth? over the shoulder or crossbody, or something that can do either? Do you like bold bright prints with fun things, or monochrome, solid colours? Leather, monochrome, cross body and study, ideally with several zillion pockets, and large enough to stuff knitting, my book-of-the-moment, my revolver and my makeup into. I have a not-so-secret love for The Broship of the Rings. Are there any prints from her store you'd like? I don't really get the appeal, I'm afraid. Do you drink wine? Nope. The only time I purchased wine was to make chicken marsala. Who here likes Stephanie Pui-Min Law's artwork? I love it dearly, and I have the tarot deck and multiple prints. Is it just me who is nervous at revealing herself to her witchee, and finding out who her witch is?! Only a tiny bit. At the moment, I'm must more worried about figuring out international shipping and getting the packages to my witchee in time. But, who here would LOVE to get Hershey's Pumpkin Spice kisses, and who would rather not?? I wouldn't mind giving them a try. THESE. Are these flavors relevant to your interests? Clove Cigarette looks fascinating! (I . . . might be biased, in that my favorite RP character smokes clove cigarettes when she's stressed. Maybe.) Dead Sexy sounds interesting - I dunno how the wood would work, though. It's Banned Books Week! Are there any books on the list you'd be interested in checking out? Honestly, the ones that I think I'd be into, I've already read, but I approve of books in general (and sexy ones in particular!) JONES SODA CO has LE soda packs for The Guild, Buffy, D&D, So Cute, etc. Would you be interested in these, Witchee? Yay for specialty soda! Significantly less-yay for all that sugar. I only drink diet soda, I'm afraid. (Or root beer, for root beer floats, but that's very rare.) Your favorite restaurant or type of food to eat out. Would you use a restaurant.com voucher? Groupon? I love Italian and Chinese food like *woah*. Noodles in general, regardless of ethnicity, are a quick way to my heart. Restaurant.com doesn't have any local restaurants that I eat at (and I know for certain that one of the restaurants they *do* have is permanently closed.) Are there any local museums/attractions you keep never getting around to going to? I haven't see the local art museums. *shifty look* Or the Grand Canyon. What level of contact were you hoping for from your witch? No preference. I'm just happy I have a witch. What squicks you out? Um, I hate the dentist, I don't like heights, lotus pods are kinda creepy and um . . . live octopuses/squid are *evil*? I mean, the cute cartoony ones are fine, but the live ones move wrong. What is something people are always surprised to learn about you? Um . . . I shoot revolvers and knit sweaters with equal enthusiasm? So who else watched Babylon 5? I don't, but from the videos, Ivanova is *awesome* If you had to decide what your stripper name was, what would it be? As for stripper name, pet name + street name = Kitty Orlando. Which is . . . . workable, I think. I mean Pussy Orlando would be dirtier, but it sounds far too much like one of the weirder Bond Girls. Sooooo Witchees, have you ever taken that particular personality test? If so, are you an Analytical, a Driver, an Expressive or an Amiable? I'll take the survey. I will. Just, um, not right now. Say you stumbled into Camp Half Blood (or whatever the Roman camp ends up being named <bounces in anticipation>), which god claims you? I don't understand the question. Judging from some of the in-thead chatter, it has something to do with the Greco-Roman gods. Um . . . I like Athena, on the grounds that she's wise and warlike, and only *occasionally* does horrible things to undeserving people. Is there anything you're wanting from LPMP? I'm not really familiar with them, but Beyond the Veil, Gianduja, Shrunken Heads, Butterbeer, Pumpkin Juice, and Tasty Tease look like fun. Cat's Eye sounds interesting. Do you prefer a particular Alice in Wonderland illustrator (Tenniel, Rackham, Disney or others) or do you like them all equally? No preference? Do you like lavender as a flavor as well as a scent? I do! It is quite tasty I had honey lavender ice cream once and it was really, really nifty. Do you have an Amazon wishlist or do you belong to Goodreads or LibraryThing? My Amazon wishlist! If you were to go here and create your very own chocolate bar, what might it have in it? I . . . . I . . . *head explodes* That site is so cool! Um, back in the day I had a bar of Frey chocolate that had cinnamon and since then I have been utterly unable to track down that company's candy. So, my first choice would be a bar of milk chocolate, with cinnamon, cardamon and ginger. I . . . I am tempted to create a huuuuuge list of other options, but I will limit myself to two. For grins, dark chocolate with ground coffee, graham teddies, pecan halves and oreos might be interesting. I'm not certain I would like it, but it would be fun to try. Because it would make my inner four-year-old very happy, milk chocolate with mini marshmallows, gummy bears cookie dough, oreos and sprinkles would be awesome. Again, I don't know if I would like it, but I want to try. What is something totally random (yes, that thing that just popped into your head) that hasn't been covered by any previous questions? Um . . . I like caffeinated stuff? And curry powder. If anyone has spice mixes, they'd be very welcome. Is there any cheesy/non-cheesy Canadian stuff you'd be interested in? Maple syrup/candy! Knitted goods. Oh, and books on Canadian history, because I know nothing about it. Princess Bride: Yay, but the book was better What's your favorite classic fairytale, witches? I have been pondering my answer to this one for a while now. When I was tiny, I was crazy about the Little Mermaid (the book, less so about the movie). Now that I'm less tiny, I'm . . . dubious about a number of the themes. Little Red Riding Hood at least has potential, and this retelling of the story is my favorite: Part I, Part II. Is there any kind of international candy you love or would like to try? Frey chocolate! And gummies. I love gummies. Do you have any bedtime rituals? Is there any particular product you have to apply or a certain shirt you wear or an act you perform to get you in the "bedtime" mood? Other than overheat my Hitachi? It's for . . . backpain. Yes. I usually have a bottle of BPAL somewhere on my nightstand, on the grounds that there have been scientific studies, indicating that pleasant scents are associated with a statistically significant decrease in nightmares. I have a black silk kimono that I wear sometimes, as it feels lovely. Sometimes I'll meditate, but that's usually only if I'm very troubled. Are you interested in today's/any recent Tee Fury shirts? Not familiar with that company. Would you be interested in regional jams, jellies, or other preserves? Hell yeah! It's the weekend, and you find yourself without a single chore or responsibility for a few hours. Right this very moment, what's the one thing you would do if you could do anything? I'd lurch over to the boyfriend's house and demand tribute in the form of pancakes. And then there would be snuggles. How do you feel about ethical animal fiber, i.e. wool and the like? I'm cool with unethical animal fiber, so the ethical kind is fine to. And, here's a question: Look down. What are you wearing, right now? Dirty blue jeans and dirty socks. In my defense, I'm stretched out in bed, dozing towards sleep. I am not always such a hopeless slob. What would you think of this (with a matching scarf)? Scarves are lovely, kerchiefs less so, I'm afraid. What about little wee creatures for your desk or mantel, like this? Very cute, but I would neglect them and they would be sad. Is there anything you like or would like to try from Bath & Body Works? I like their Yule peppermint stuff and their foaming soaps. I don't know if they still have the scents, but their Pink Grapefruit, White Tea and Ginger, and Vanilla Sugar were yummy. Are there any food items you're craving/aren't able to find around your area? I like exotic food, and it's really annoying to find around here. Um, jaggery (it's a kind of unrefined sugar), mochi and dango are the ones that come to mind first. What's your favorite kind of pizza? A square-cut, light cheese, extra sauce pizza with pineapple, bell peppers, onions, olives, roma tomatoes, and mushrooms. (And if I'm lucky, extra mushrooms, pineapple and olives.) *shifty look* I will then eat all the toppings and sauce, leaving the bread behind. Because it tastes better that way. Who are your style/fashion icons? post pics if you want! That implies that I'm fashionable, and I'm kind of useless in that area. I can post pictures of styles that I like, though I usually fall miserably short. I wear a lot of flared/boot cut blue jeans, fitted t-shirt and turtlenecks. (My office is cold. Really cold.) Not me, but pretty much how I dress regularly. In the SCA/period clothing, I really like this style. For Japanese-influenced styles. Belly dance. Fetish (Safe for work, really!) 'Normal' clothing 1 2 - The one on the right Is there anything you'd like from the Mütter Museum Store? I . . . . really, really not my thing. I mean, forensics and medical pathology, yay, macabre kick-knacks, not so much. (Though plush microbes have a kind of warped adorableness.) I just noticed that Cocoa Pink has 5 ml Perfume Atomizers. Yay or nay? Scents you would like? Scents you would NOT like? I'm not really familiar with Cocoa Pink, so I spent a bit wandering their website. I rather like their Phobias. Phasmophobia looks like fun, as it's vanilla and I generally approve of any use of the phrase 'glowing marshmallow orbs'. Cucurbitophobia - yay pumpkins! Honestly, the only one of their Phobia set that *doesn't* look good is Coimetrophobia, on the grounds that it has a dirt note. (And on me, dirt notes smell like goddamn dirt, inspiring the strong urge to take a bath.) I put together a huge list of scents that I like, then paired them down to the really interesting ones, but the short version is that it looks like Cocoa Pink does foody scents and I'm *mad* about foody. So, just about anything on that list would work for me. (The only caveats being that patchouli and vetiver invariably smell nasty on me.) Blackberry Mist, Green Tea, Irish Cream Cappuccino, Naughty Pumpkins/Gingerbread, Porridge Pie, Halloween in Dublin What is your favorite coffee blend at Starbucks? If you don't have one, what is your favorite roast of coffee? *shifty look* I feel like such a bad BPAL-er, but I don't really dig coffee. If you have a roast/blend that you're mad about, by all means, send it. A couple of my friends are coffee nuts and I'm willing to share the love. So, are there any online gaming witchees who covet purchasable in-game items or other gamer-y stuff? (yup, geek question) I play WoW and WoW-y stuff is always welcome. (I play Alliance and I already have the baby hippogryph and the pandarian monk.) Anyone doing anything cool for Mabon (or the start of fall, if you aren't pagan? I'd like to do something creative with the boyfriend, but I have relatives in town, so I have less time for meditation and energy work than I'd like. Question: Do you like tarts? Tealights? Jar candles? Votives? Jar candles are the best option, on the grounds that candles meeeeeeelt in Arizona and the jar keeps the wax from oozing everywhere. The people I live with have smoke allergies, so I don't get to use the candles all that often. Question: What's your favorite flavor? Sour, sweet, bitter, salty? I like salty - black olives, tortilla chips with salsa, very salty soups, fried rice with lots of soy sauce. Also, sweet with a hint of sour - dried cherries, dried mangos, raspberries, sour gummies. What are the feelings on arm warmers? Color, style, texture, length? I love arm-warmers! My Ravelry wishlists has a whole bunch. These are just cool. I like the flare of this set, and the texture of these. I have a couple of pairs of these (so snuggly!) and these look nifty. What is your favorite word? Apenglow, and defenstration and virago. If you're crafty, are you interested in spoonfeather? And if so, what things there delight your eyes? Not really. Would you like a photo collage based around your interests/favorite colors/favorite themes? Say some pictures mounted on illustration board and coated in a protective sealant? Sure. Question: Do you like homemade snack mixes? I know Puppy Chow was mentioned in a previous question, but what about healthier and more natural type snacks like granola or trail mix? You can put a lot of delicious and fun things into trail mix, yeah? If you say "Sure, I'd love some!" what kinds of things do you like/not like in those kinds of snacks, ie coconut flakes, raisins, certain nuts (allergies??), candy, etc. Give us your list of DO's and DON'Ts! Honestly, I prefer dried fruit, by itself. Cherries, cranberries, mangos.... Do you like charm bracelets? If you had a bracelet, what sort of charms would you want on it? Favorite hobbies, symbols, whatever? Not really, I'm afraid. I do bangles more than charms. Witchee, would you like a gently used BPAL tshirt? I would! What's 'your' song/your theme song? Um, I have been told that , by Cake describes me and there was a period a while back that , by the Corrs was my personal anthem. What would be your superpower? By the consensus of my gaming group, I would be able to fly and light things on fire. If you could have a salon scent made, based on any artwork(s) what would it be? This question melted my fucking brain. I have huge image stores, and gave up after combing them for three hours. So, this is the cheap answer. The Grand Canal by Joseph Turner The Accolade by Edmund Blair Leighton The Demon Queen by aditya777 of DeviantArt Halloween by Sandara of Deviantart Are you scientifically curious and/or process-oriented? Would you like a project-type gift that allowed you do do something like make soap from scratch, take and (nontoxic-ly) develop photographs using a pinhole camera, use plant dyes on yarn or fabric, etc.? That'd be awesome! What's your favorite horror movie? I dunno if they count as horror movies, but Priest, Daybreakers and Contagion were good. If your witch was the practical type and wanted to include one or more of your everyday essentials, what would those include? I'm talking about the bath products, lotions, face lotions, teas, food, etc that you really use every day. I use Herbal Essences shampoo and conditioner (the Long Term Relationship line, though it's not the greatest stuff). I drink vast quantities of diet Rooster Booster, which is a red, berry-flavored energy drink. I chew a lot of gum, though I don't really care about the brand so long as it's minty and sugarless. Um, I'm very, very fond of Philippine brand dried mangos (they're blindingly expensive online - it's much cheaper to buy them at Costco.) I drink loose leaf fruity herbal tea, mostly from Teavanna and Adagio. Um, I use Philosophy brand lip gloss (and Bonne Bell, when I can find the tube). I make Japanese food a lot, so I try to keep a supply of udon noodles on hand (or just spaghetti noodles.) *shifty look* I've found that wet wipes are very useful, for a surprising variety of uses - I typically get the cheapest, unscented generic brand. I like Villainess Whipped! lotion. Arizona is terribly dry and the lotion doesn't irritate my skin, or my boyfriend's which is a lovely thing. (Although I like their solid soap, please don't get me any. I had some nasty allergic reactions when I got some suds into my eyes.) Jane Austen .. Yay or Nay? Absolutely not. I put up quotes I love in my office and studio to get me going, They range from goofy to sarcastic to inspirational... Are you interested in a hand painted quote? Do you have one in mind, or a topic in mind? I listed some in answer to another question, and I'd love to have them in calligraphy or painted. Do you like period or period-styled paraphernalia? Stuff like postcards, notecards, jewelry, office supplies, what-have-you? My period is more 15th century English, rather than Regency, so I'll give it a pass. If you like manga, comics, and/or graphic novels, what is it about them that you like, in general? The story, the art/style, etc? I like DC comics, mostly because of the 'Oh, wow, that's so cool!' factor. Do you like/own/wear/want fairy wings or something of the like? FAIRY wings? I had a huge purple set that I got rid of a while back, on the grounds that I used them for one Halloween costume and then they just collected dust. If you could choose a Smack, what would it have in it? Harvest Peach, Spice Trade, Vanilla Bean, Fresh Squeezed Citrus, Espresso SockDreams y/n/already own most of the catalog? Hell yeah! I love their socks! Art prints/cards y/n/depends? Prints, yes. Cards, no. How do you feel about terrariums? They're kinda cool. My dad has a bunch of big ones around the house. What kinds of coffee do I like? I don't. Have I ever tried the coffee spoons, which are flavored chocolates on a spoon that you use to flavor your coffee? I have not, but I approve of spoons in general and chocolate in particular, and I'd love to see how they could be used to flavor chai. If your witch were to knit you a scarf/shawl/cowl, which would you prefer, and what features would you want? Would you prefer something light and drape-y or thick and warm? What kind of colors would you prefer? Do you have any fiber allergies or preferences? I would *love* a knitted thing. I like drape, and flow - Arizona is seldom cold enough to merit something truly warm. Jewel tones, fire colors - if it's all black, or eye-searingly bright, I'm going to approve. As for fiber, silk, alpaca, cashmere, or generally snuggly stuff. I even like cotton, if it's the soft kind. Is there something that you wish you could do, but you keep putting it off? Play the flute (I have no musical talent, so I romanticize how nice it must be to express oneself through music). Also, go to Los Angeles. I mean, I've been there before, but I was supposed to go with the boyfriend this year and the trip got axed. I miss Chinatown! Sooo...Cthulhu: yay or nay? I approve of the stories, but I'd rather not have the Great Old Ones rising to devour my brain and soup, thankyouverymuch. Are there any Arcana Weenies that you MUST HAVE? *ahem* I got my hands on Straitjacket a few months ago (thank you, Ebay!) I really, really want Caffeinated Death, with Little Ghoulie and Hobbedy’s Lantern close runners-up. Sleepy Hollow and Comfort Me With Apples look good, but they're lower priority.

Other website Wish lists (amazon.com, etc): My Etsy My Amazon Random Questions: Random Questions: - On a scale of 1-5, how organized are you? I’d give it a 3.5 to a 4. My closet is usually kind of messy, but it’s very important to me that the apartment is tidy when I have guests over, and I get stressed when it’s not. - Where, outside of the U.S. would you love to visit? (if you're international, this can be anywhere) Ireland, to see some of the old castles, or Japan, to see the Fushimi Inari Shrine. - Do people tell you that you act older, younger, or your age? Act older, and look younger. -If I gave you a toy gun with flashing lights, would you hide and start shooting people from around corners OR would you thank me on the IGI thread and then quietly donate it (a niece, Oxfam, Goodwill, wherever)? (there are no wrong answers for this, so don't be afraid to answer honestly) I’d be so jazzed. My boyfriend collects and modifies Nerf guns, so having an armory on hand to return fire is important. - What animal do you feel like the most? I don’t really identify with animals. I like foxes, as they’re associated with one of my role-playing characters, and I like phoenix symbology. - Your favorite feature about yourself: I like my hair. It’s blonde-red, very long and quite eye-catching. - Do you live in a neighborhood or in the middle of nowhere? I live in the middle of an enormous suburb. -Have you ever thought, "oh, I'm going to get myself one of those one of these days" but then never do? List 1 under $10 and 1 over $10. Um . . . I like really, really *deep* red nail polish. (Blue-based red. Soul-sucking red.) That should be less than $10. A small pot for growing herbs in my window box, or the seeds themselves – I have a bag of potting soil, but I haven’t worked up the nerve to try growing something. - How do you feel about boi witches? I like boi witches! - Do you like garage sales (boot sales)? Yep! I’m usually too tired to haul myself out of bed early Saturday morning, but I do like the garage sales. - I like to slather my food in …: Barbecue sauce or hummus. A local Chinese place has this great dumpling sauce, but I have no idea what's in it, other than soy sauce and chili seeds. - State fairs or carnivals? Both! I typically go to the State Fair, as it’s reasonably close by, and enormous. - You throw caution to the wind and runaway to join a traveling circus. What job would you want ( a main performer, a side show, a behind the scenes spot, etc) and why? Oh, I’d want to be an acrobat. Great costumes, lots of attention and it’s the closest I’ll get to actually flying. - What mythical or fantastic race of creatures (dragons, unicorns, griffins, elves, dwarves, faeries, etc.) do you most identify with? Kitsune! They’re Japanese fox spirits most known for carrying messages for Inari, and for getting into trouble. (And seducing people – good times, all around.) - Imagine that you're given a shoebox-sized time capsule, and you are asked to put any number of items in the box that symbolize who you are. The items can be may be anything you can imagine, and money is no object, but they must fit within the box. What do you choose? That is a really hard question. I'd put in my Obrimos necklace, a handful of d10s, a picture of my boyfriend and myself, and probably a folder of papers, containing recipes I've worked on, and stories I've written. - Do you need storage boxes? I do. I have overrun my BPAL boxes and am searching for more. - The world has given you the day off. You hear that, no chores, responsibilities, or budget you have to follow. What would you do in those 24 hours? I’d probably start prepping the night before – I’d want a day bag packed, and to shower, so that I and my boyfriend could get up early and hop a plan to Ashland, Oregon. We’d get breakfast at one of the cafes, rent bikes, and spend the day biking around town, visiting the little shops and the farms/artist’s markets. I’d hole up in one of the used bookstores, reading everything in sight, then go over to the yarn stores and the wooden toy stores, and fiddle with *everything*. We’d have dinner at the tiny Italian café on Main Street, then watch one of the Shakespeare plays. Good times. - Do you like steampunk & if so what kind of steampunk item would you most like to receive? I do! God, uh – I could use a blinged out Nerf gun, a hat, or a pair of goggles. Or a lady’s satchel. - Do you have an etsy shop? I do not. - Would you like to receive baked goods, if so what kind? Eeee! I totally would! Bread, or cookies, or brownies, or even non-baked goods, such as fruit preserves would outstanding. - What is something totally random (yes, that thing that just popped into your head) that hasn't been covered by any previous questions? My apartment is kinda small. Objects that are beautiful and useful (or, y’know, edible) are always appreciated. Notes (Here's where you can add additional information you'd like your Switch Witch to know!): I play a lot of table-top role-playing games. Dice would be very welcome! Um, I like hair ornaments, particularly hair sticks, fuzzy arm warmers and boxes to store my BPAL collection. I use a tea chest to hold my BPAL, but there is exactly one slot left. A box or some way to hold the perfume would be awesome.

    Switch Witch Intro

Hi! I'm very glad you've been chosen to be my Witch. I'll be keeping this blog updated with the latest questions and feedback, and I hope you have as much fun with this as I do. The 'show recent visitors' option on my profile is turned of, so you can stalk without worrying about blowing your cover.

    Kali

In the vial: Wine. Rich wine, with a trace of florals. It’s a strong scent. Wet: On me, the florals come to the front. The deep, wine note is still there, but it’s not as blatant as it was in the vial. Dry: After a while, the florals fade some, replaced by a slightly gentler wine note, and what might be the cassia and honey. I’m not getting any chocolate at all, but the scent is still lovely. Verdict: Kali is wine, flowers and a faint whisper of cassia and honey. I *really* like it – it’s the perfect scent for late night dancing, or a red and black dress.
  14. Dominique

    Bengal

In the vial: I get the cinnamon, and the clove, a faint musk and a sharpness that’s much more peppery than gingery. Bengal has fangs, but it’s still a lovely smell. Wet: It’s not quite so sharp, but it’s warm, in a way that makes me think of skin and sexy. The warm s spices are coming through clearly, though the ginger is clearly an undernote. It could simply by that my vial is older and the ginger has faded some. Dry: It’s warmed and sweetened some – the musk and honey coming out to play with the clove and ginger. The pepper note isn’t the same as sniffing an actual pepper shaker, but it’s still sharp. Verdict: I originally got Bengal, in hopes of getting chai scent. (I found the perfume I was after at Violette Market, Pumpkin Chai, but that’s beside the point.) It’s not the exact milky sweetness that I was after, but it’s still spicy and delightful.

Ginger scents & the different types of ginger notes

Saw-Scaled Viper is nothing but cinnamon on me (which has it's own appeal), and the bottle of Siren I have smells musky for some strange reason. Baobhan Sith and Kumiho are both sharp, fanged gingers. If the goal is a non-foody, non-sweet ginger, these are likely to be your best options. I haven't gotten my hands on Mother Ginger, though I keep my eyes open on the various sites and forums, hoping.
