    Bruised Violet Compound

In the imp: Sweet patchouli On me: Dang, people weren't kidding when they said this scent was Dirty Violets. I was hoping for Slightly Sullied Violets, or even Just a Smidge Darkened Violets. But I'd go so far as to call this scent Slightly Violet-y Patchouli.

After reading over reviews, it seems like different people experience different dominant notes, so it's quite a mystery scent! In the imp: Very faint, but I think I get some oranges and...wine? O_o Man, this scent is almost invisible on me, I have to huff my arm to smell anything. What I do smell is a very light citrus, I think orange. No sign of any other note, not even the dreaded rose. Apparently the British aristocracy preferred a VERY light throw so as to not offend anybody's sensibilities!

    Pink Moon 2005

I can't believe I was lucky enough to acquire an imp of this, and for a very reasonable price. In the imp: Very, very sweet - reminds me of cotton candy. Doesn't make my teeth hurt though, as some very sweet blends tend to do. I wish I was kidding! As it dries, the scent becomes very tangy yet maintains most of its sweetness. It's a pink smell for sure, maybe a dark pink? It's also floral, though I can't pinpoint what type of floral. I can't detect the carnation at all. I had no idea what to expect from this scent going in, and I have to admit that while it's quite beautiful, it's not really me. I can't do very many florals, though carnation is one of those few, and I was hoping for a bit of it here. Also, while I love sweet scents, this one may be just a bit TOO sweet.

This seems like a good scent to test when it's eighty degrees in here. How I pine for air conditioning @_@. In the imp: Tuberose and lime. I don't have much experience with tuberose, but I tend to like night-blooming flowers better than 'regular' ones. The lime fades a bit as it dries, leaving the tuberose as the dominant note. There's a sizeable amount of jasmine in the background, but it's definitely second fiddle to the tuberose. It's a bit too soapy and floral for my tastes, but it seems like a nice one for floral lovers. Also has quite a strong throw.

    Tamora

Wet: Peach and vanilla. Dry: The amber starts to show itself, and it's got a powdery-ness to it. There's still quite a bit of vanilla, but the peach is mostly gone. I like this though - there's something very delicate and pretty about it. I like it, but not enough to purchase a bottle. I'll try to have an imp on hand though for when I need a dose of amber/vanilla.

    Thirteen (13): April 2007

In the imp: Chocolate! It's a bit chalky, like maybe the chocolate they use to make Easter candy. On me, wet, this is almost all chocolate. As it dries, it slides slowly from chocolately to herby. Initially, it's almost like a Yankee candle, then it gets herbier and herbier. Chocolate and herbs...a strange combination. O_o

    The Red Queen

In the imp: Cherries! Yet there's something that's preventing them from smelling sweet. I bet it's the mahogany. It stays pretty true from the imp to my skin - I mostly smell cherries; they're just a tiny bit powdery and fake smelling, but I find that some red fruits tend to do that on me (I'm looking at you, strawberry!). The mahogany is faint, but it's there in the background, tempering the cherry a bit and keeping it from being too sweet. The currant isn't really detectable, but I think it lends a bit of tartness to the cherry smell. As it continues to dry, the mahogany gets a bit stronger, but it's still serving as a grounding note for the cherry. This is a nice, simple scent, but cherries don't work on me quite as well as other fruits do. It's sure making me want a big slice of cherry pie though!

    Bengal

First impression: WHOA! Who spilled the cinnamon in the spice cabinet? This isn't a red-hots cinnamon smell (like Wrath), this is the smell of a cinnamon stick that you're about to swirl in a mug of hot chocolate. The pepper, ginger, and clove hangs around in the background - thus the impression of a spice cabinet. I can't really smell the honey, but it does seem to be lending a bit of sweetness to the spice. It smells very exotic, but cinnamon just isn't really me.

    Nostrum Remedium

This is mostly honey with just a hint of the sinus clearing power of wasabi. I think a lot of people who don't like their scents too sweet would like this one - the wasabi really tempers the sweetness of the honey. I'm not getting much black tea at all. I'm a freak and like my scents really sweet, so I don't much like the wasabi note. Poo. Edit: About a half hour after it dried, the wasabi faded a bit, and what was left was quite lovely!

    Sugar Moon 2008

WHOA, this is sweet! In the imp: Carmelized sugar smell, ala Sugar Skull. On me: Very very sweet - the main scent is kind of a fake candy smell. I'm guessing that the strawberry is causing most of that, as black currant behaves on me. I can catch a tiny bit of a maple syrup smell, but the fake candy is by far the main note. Sadness, I had high hopes for this one.

    Ouija

I expected this to be ROSE ROSE ROSE on me, because rose loves me like nothing else, but I can't detect it. The strongest note is lilac, which is pretty but turns quite soapy on me. It is quite a pretty scent though, very feminine with just the right level of sweetness. The perfect use for it would be to use it in an oil burner during a tea party.

    Vampire Tears

...This smells EXACTLY like Fruit Loops cereal to me. Maaaybe with an extra jolt of citrus, but it's definitely Fruit Loops. Mind you, that's not necessarily a bad thing. If I was more of a citrus scent lover, I would probably love it. Others have made the comparison to lemon-scented cleaning products, but I'm not really getting that. Of course, I don't know whether you would consider Fruit Loops much of an upgrade!

    Smut

Smut! Smut! Smut! Three swarthy, smutty musks sweetened with sugar and woozy with dark booze notes. Oh man this is nice - I got a partial of the 08 version from a forumite. I was trying to apply some before heading out to an informal meeting, and I managed to slop quite a bit onto my wrists (and my desk!). A couple of people at the meeting commented that I smelled really good. Smut is a perfectly proportioned mix of sugar, musk, and florals, so that one doesn't overwhelm the others. It's not whoa-sex on me, but I'm okay with that. I can detect the booze as well, but it's not doing much besides tempering the other notes. I don't normally do well with musky scents, but the sugar in this balances it out so nicely that I'm considering getting a bottle from the lab. Mmm, smut! Edited to add description.

    Egg'd Mailbox

Ack, and I strike out again with another inquisition scent. This started out a bit almondy on me, and a bit astringent O_o, which was okay, but not great. I like almond, but I don't love it. Then as it dried it mostly faded, and what was left smelled like...incense? O_o Maybe kind of a dark floral? Yeah, I don't know. I wasn't expecting to like this one, so I'm not that disappointed .

    Pumpkin Cheesecake

Guh. This is SO good. It's sweet creamy pumpkin with a buttery crust. I wasn't expecting this, as other scents purported to have a buttery crust (Crumpet Rebellion comes to mind) had nothing, but THIS...this is wonderful. It makes me want to go bake a pumpkin cheesecake. I think the comparisons to Pumpkin Queen and Jack are spot-on, but with those I also get other scents (ginger/orange for PQ and peach for Jack). This one, again, is pretty much sugary buttery pumpkin with a hint of spices in the crust.

    Marshmallow Poof

Haha, an Easter candy inquisition would be hilarious. Anyway, onto my review - I must be one of the few that didn't have an OMG Love it or OMG Hate it reaction to the Poof. It doesn't smell like a marshmallow to me, it smells like pure sugar, but with a weird astringent quality to it. I wasn't expecting it to be such a sharp scent. As a result, my reaction is thoroughly "meh."

    The Spell of Amorous Love

The Spell of Amorous Love is red and fruity and and floral and a bit sweet, but all of it is tempered by the crisp, sharp note of the sake. I absolutely love it, but it fades very quickly on me, so I think I'll just have to stick with the decant.

    Midwinter's Eve

This is pure sweet plum on me, which I absolutely love. I wanted to eat my arm! It doesn't seem like a winter scent to me at all. Ripe, sweet fruit smells always make me think of spring and summer.

    Love's Philosophy

Wow, when I first read the scent description I thought "There's no way I'm not going to like this!" Well, it's not the first time I've been wrong. The wintergreen others have mentioned was very strong - it was very medicinal and reminiscent of toothpaste on me. It made me feel ill and I had to go wash it off X_x.
  20. sprocket21

    Lunar Eclipse

Gah, this is pure vetiver/tobacco on me. I love pretty much all of the other notes, especially the currant, but there is absolutely no sign of them in any stage. It's therefore a very masculine scent on me - I may try to pass my decant on to the boyfriend.

    Earth Rat

A new year's blessing! Peony, China's national flower, with bamboo for flexibility, plum blossom for perseverance, courage, and hope, tangerine for wealth, lychee for strong family relationships and peace in the home, orange for happiness, pine resin for constancy, golden kumquat and quince for prosperity, narcissus and King mandarin for good fortune, coconut for longevity, and candied melon for good health, with a splash of blazing red of dragon's blood... to help you scare away the rampaging Nian. Add me to the "holy melon, Batman!" crowd! This is the scent of a cantaloupe or honeydew melon, perfectly ripe, and freshly cut up into a bowl. This is the perfect summer scent, mmmmm. Edited to add description.

    The Flower Song

Wet, this was pure pomegramate wine on me, very similar to Swank. I like the scent of pomegranate, but it's not remarkable enough on its own to warrant wearing. As it dried, it stayed about 90% pomegranate, but I got a hint of something else - the barley? River reeds? I don't know, something kind of woodsy. It grounds the scent a bit and improves it, but it's still not really "me."

Diary of a Lovestruck Teenage Cannibal

Oh no! In the bottle, this is a lovely creamy pear with a generous splash of ginger. On me, it's crayons! *cries*. I may have to scent locket this or something, because it's so lovely in the bottle.

    Snow White

This smelled like creamy ick when wet - I can't describe it much better, because I would sniff my wrist and recoil. Once it was dry, it morphed into Monster Bait: Tokyo Stomp, a.k.a. a very creamy vanilla mint. It was also quite strong - I could smell it even when my wrist was nowhere near my face, and it drowned out the Christmas scents I'd been testing on my other arm. But yes, Snow White = vanilla mint.

    Beaver Moon 2007

This is the first time that I have ever ordered a bottle of something unsniffed. But I'm a vanilla/red fruit freak, so how could I not order it? In the bottle: I was very very worried, because Beaver Moon smells weird in the bottle. It smells like very creamy cherry candies that have gone bad, or maybe like very fake cherry candy. You know the CremeSavers candies? It smells like those, but it's not pleasant. On me, wet: Still the nasty cherry smell, but it's weaker. And what's this? I can start to smell strawberries! Thank goodness for morphers. On me, dry: Victory! The cherry has been vanquished by the strawberry! And the cream note has mellowed out as well. I can definitely see the comparison to strawberry ice cream. In fact, this reminds me a bit of Bordello, but slightly creamier and more innocent-seeming. This is wonderful, and I'm so glad it worked out on me, as now I'll be more willing to order unsniffed bottles in the future. And the label is cute to boot! ETA: I remembered the name of the candies .
