doomsday_disco Report post Posted July 2 (edited) The ambergris-tinged floodlight sweat of the stage and the warm press of hundreds of bodies forever reaching, gold velvet crushed under a stranger's palms, a smear of actor's greasepaint, sweat-slick leather straps, and frankincense tears all masking an orris root-tinged centuries-old sorrow at the heart. Invidiana Report post Posted July 13 (edited) This is Lestat growling into the microphone, seducing legions of alt kids and dark souls who want to be consumed by him. He hungers for them in a way they could not imagine. Leather, blacker than the depths of night and smeared with greasepaint, dominates the stage. It mingles with heat rising from underneath. Hundreds of bodies are slick with sweat, salty with ambergris and glistening in flashes of stage light between the shadows. Gold velvet from his vintage pants, plush with a tinge of something powdery and nostalgic from hanging too long in a dusty closet, is crushed in human hands as he bodysurfs the crowd. Body heat pulses more and more under the leather as arms reach for him through a haze of incense, but other vampires are silently watching among the frenzied fans. They are always watching. ghoulnextdoor Report post Posted July 22 Someone has thrown you down the long, lightless void of a leather well. Monolithic, sunken-placed, hide-soft, oiled and airless, the walls too tanned and yielding to grip and too dark to gauge for fall or distance, leather all the way down, and then more of it, the same cave-damp animal hush at fifty feet as at five, at five hundred as at fifty. Far above, a small cool rectangle of green floral light, the last clean air in the world, forever receding.
LavenderCoffee Report post Posted July 22 had a bit of a kombucha meme experience with Long Face. at first it was very OH NO MISTAKES WERE MADE but then very quickly I arrived at WAIT WTF how is the greasepaint making this sexier?! so even tho this advice is good advice for all perfume oils, I want to say this one especially benefits from rest and a skin test to get the measure of it. between the ambergris and the leather and the greasepaint there is definitely a bit of funkiness to the blend, but I find it nicely balanced with the frankincense/velvet/orris. the internet rabble (inc me) who were excitedly clicking on fan photos from filming locations seemed to think the pants were chartreuse, and I wonder if a brighter pop of color than gold would have been interesting here, but there is a beautiful velvety quality to this scent regardless of the color. and it adds an element of timelessness in conjunction with the ambergris, like you could just as easily imagine Lestat as a rockstar or as Lelio while wearing this and it fits either way. wilhelmscream Report post Posted August 5 In the bottle: Really intense in the bottle! Very leathery and sweaty. Obviously one of those that will only reveal itself on the skin. On the skin: Leather! The salty ambergris. I'm getting the greasepaint and orris. Definitely a kind of nose texture from the velvet. A rowdy rockstar fragrance that does manage to remain rather dignified. It's interesting, because about ten minutes later, everything has really softened. It's all still there, but there's a subtlety to it, it's not a sweaty leather attack. A sort of post-concert malaise, too wired to sleep but too exhausted to do anything else.
