Flower Moon 2026

Flower Moon is a vision of nocturnal tenderness: pale ylang-ylang and moonflower absolute unfurl against sun-baked earth that is cooling under springtime moonlight. Flickers of white agave nectar and fragile, luminous stargazer lily exhale over a whisper of dark amber and wild honey, like sweet pollen dusted onto velvet wings.

In the Bottle: Smells dark and cool, floral which are subtle with a slight sharpness edge and some dusty earth in the background

 

On the Skin: the last thing I wanted was loud, screechy florals and this is not that, thankfully.  It starts off quite gently but the flowers find a voice quickly, always with the cool, earthy grounding, with Lily being pretty prominent.  Nectar/honey rounds things out without being obvious.  I find this really lovely and eerily dark and enticing.

This has CRAZY throw on me. The incense is unlisted, but there's a LOT of incense, some very sharp lily, and spicy-sweet ylang ylang. The sharp lilies die down after a couple of hours, and Flower Moon remains floral incense, with a hint of something sweetly balsamic, on me for *hours*. Seriously, I'm on hour 8 over here and still going strong. The projection's died down since this morning and it's definitely closer to my skin than it was, but it's still very noticeable. 

 

I went to try Flower Moon's accompanying hair gloss a minute ago, and I figured I'd reapply a drop of the perfume oil so I could better understand how they complemented each other. Possibly this was a mistake: the little drop of Flower Moon I reapplied has BLOTTED OUT the Passionflower & Wild Plum Hair Gloss. I feel like a walking cloud of incense. 

 

Whatever incense accord this is, it would appear I amp it. I wish I'd gotten more of the florals and earth notes! It was definitely a pleasant smell, just not what I'd been hoping for, and probably a bit too incensey for my tastes. I'll give my decant a month or two before I retest to see if it calms down at all.

This scent is so delicate that in the bottle I don't get much impression. However, on my skin it has incredible throw & opens up to a light floral with a slight skin musk moment. I really need 3 more bottles. Haha! Right up in my top 5 favorites. Deeply in love.

Definitely a subtler, more delicate scent on me. I get a lot of agave, which is a thinner, sharper sort of sweetness than the lab's lush and perfumed honey note, and some pale, cool-toned florals, I think primarily ylang-ylang. As it dries I get the dry earth in the background gradually taking up more space. I don't know how bpal gets the sun-baked quality but it feels distinct to me, with the dirt note dusty with that warm heat from the sun and a light herbal quality. The dustiness of this almost makes it feel like it should be tickling my nose, and the sharpness edges on uncomfortable for me. It's a sophisticated, complex scent that I find really interesting, but not precisely pleasant to wear; I was hoping for a lot more florals than I got on this one.

Ylang ylang and moonflower are a real match made in heaven, they're bringing out the best in each other, and the stargazer lily is a graceful addition. Overall, it's a nectarous nocturnal floral with a sweetly spicy edge to contrast with the lunar glow. These spice-like and skin-warm and eerie ghostly qualities mingle under a fine honeyed glaze that quietly meets the sun-baked earth, a bit dry and crumbly, a little bit reminiscent of some sun-dried desert plants.

 

Flower Moon nimbly side-steps all the pitfalls some of the more controversial notes can bring - there's nothing over-ripe about the ylang, nothing funky going on with the honey, nothing mushroomy about the earth. The perfume is such a lovely match for the label art, a reminder about the hidden world of bats as pollinators, fuzzy velvety little fairies nuzzling into glamorous night-blooming flowers.

 

The earth and balsamic dark amber merge into an enticing, complex incense accord that lingers long after the finely defined florals dissipate into an ambiguous moonlit glow.

 

Somehow this is simultaneously very "natural" and very "perfumey," which I love.

I didn't order a decant of this scent, but my decanter kindly gifted me a tester of this to try that had enough in it for two tests.

 

Flower Moon is very much a floral scent, with the flowers not being too high-pitched or heady, but I think I may be having a similar experience to leptonpyr, as I also get plenty of incense with the floral notes. It might be the amber in the blend, although it definitely made me think more of incense than amber. I had decided not to grab a decant of this one because of the earth note -- not because I dislike dirt notes, but because I didn't really myself appreciating it with these notes. Fortunately, there isn't any super earthy or moist dirt note in this scent -- but I can imagine some sun-baked, dry earth beneath the floral notes and their nectar if I sniff the scent up close. 

 

I like this moon more than I thought I would and think it is pretty, especially during the late drydown once the incense has calmed down, but since it didn't make me swoon like its lotion did, I'm not sure I need a bottle of this one. (I will probably huff my now empty tester a few more times before the scent goes away just to be sure, though. 😅)
