doomsday_disco Report post Posted December 1, 2025 “O, father, my father, and did you not hear The Erl-King whisper so low in my ear?” — “Be still, my heart’s darling — my child, be at ease; It was but the wild blast as it sung thro’ the trees.” A desperate attempt at comfort and assurances of safety. Honeyed oats, toasted clove, hazelnuts, hay, and skin-warmed wool.
Mufasa Report post Posted December 21, 2025 Extremely unique! This is a gourmand that I wouldn’t consider to be sweet, I know there’s been some savory-gourmands in existence for a while but I’ve never smelled those because I thought if it wasn’t sweet why bother but this changed my mind, it’s really nutty from the hazelnut that’s the most prominent note and it’s so warm, I can smell the heat on it which is really fun. If I was told this was a roasted hazelnut single note I would believe you. It’s a close to the skin smell no aggressive throws just warm and subtle and really nice. doomsday_disco Report post Posted January 16 This is a really cozy scent. It was unexpectedly somewhat like a sweet, creamy, lemon-like scent on me during the first few hours -- I think it's the honey mingling with the hay note, which was also somewhat lemon-y in the Vanilla, Nutmeg, and Hay Absolute trio. Then it becomes a sweet and toasty oat scent -- kind of similar to One Has to be Careful -- but with a bit of added spice from the clove and a comforting, non-laundry!!! wool note. Of the two scents I tried from the Erlkönig collection, this was the one I enjoyed most. I will have to give it a full-day slather to see if I need more of it, but for now, I'll definitely be keeping my decant.
SmellsPrettyGood2Me Report post Posted 8 hours ago They promised comfort, and it brought comfort, like a trip to Grandma's prairie cottage in the first 3 weeks of November where fall and winter sometimes overlap. In the bottle, all of the scent notes are individually detectable but also blend together like a dream. On skin, the hay and oats dominate in the open, yielding to the hazelnuts and the clove as it dries down. The clove continues to amp up for an hour, and a slightly musky wool comes alongside and gives cozy sweater vibes. I do wish the hay note hung around a bit longer, but not much is going to outlast a spice or nut note when they're present! The honeyed oats were there from start to finish and reminded me of Amber Incense & Honey Cakes, which I also love. Bold in the open, but does not stay there long. Most of it was gone within 6 hours of application. I went back and forth on this as I was reviewing my cart, and I think I even took it out entirely at one point. Very glad it made it in the final cut as this will get a lot of wear when I need a warm scent hug. Would not mind it in lotion format as well!
