roseus Report post Posted September 22 Ylang ylang is a note I always have difficulty describing, and even here paired with one other note I am still struggling. I feel like it isn't standing out all that much, but embellishing the apple with a heady, creamy sweetness. The apple is soft and sort of musky. Not very tart, nor very sweet. Very pretty! The throw is pretty low after it settles and I think on it's own it would be safe for office wear, and would compliment but not compete with perfume. I do notice hints of the scent a several hours on, close to the skin. Regarding the lotion itself and the packaging: the lotion is thick but melts into the skin easily and absorbs quickly. The pump works fine but I do wonder if a tub would be better, especially as it empties.
doomsday_disco Report post Posted October 7 This is so lovely! It's allll about the apple on me. I'm unable to pick out the ylang ylang, and it's usually a pretty heady note. The apple smells like the inside of an apple that's been freshly bitten into.... I can imagine the texture of the apple flesh whenever I smell this! There's a coolness to it that sort of reminds me of Astrid's Apples and Bones (which I love). I agree with roseus that it's not very tart or very sweet. I've tested this several times while working in the office, and the scent doesn't have much throw -- I can smell it whenever I hold my hand up to my nose, but I can't smell it otherwise. Regarding the texture (I'm copying this from my initial lotion review): I got a decant (a tiny sample of lotion -- think of it like the size of a little thing of paint) from Ajevie, so I can't comment on the packaging of the lotion. However, I can't imagine that one would have an easy time getting it out of a bath oil style bottle, since it is a thick lotion. It's not as thick as Epically Epic's whipped body butters (which they no longer make ), Blood Moon Botanica's body butters, or Strawberry Boo's frosting-like body butters, nor is it thin and liquidy like Paintbox Soapworks' lotions or Moonalisa's potion lotions or avocado butters. I haven't had one in a while, but I would say the thickness is probably most comparable to Haus of Gloi's pumpkin butters, but this might even be thicker than that, and it is somewhat stickier. If I try to press a finger down into this little pot of lotion, it feels a bit sticky and starts going up the sides of the small container instead of covering my finger in a lot of lotion -- but I like that this is on the thicker side, because I live in the desert and have very dry skin. I find that this doesn't take long to sink in (but again -- I have very dry skin, so you may not have the same experience). I love this, so I ordered a bottle along with the Weenies I blind bottled so that I could pair it with a lot of my apple scents. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for an apple-y lotion to pair with their apple-y BPALs.
