Little Bird Report post Posted April 9 Elizabethan Red is a very light, delicate scent with almost no throw. I feel like the 'water' in the orange blossom water was no joke because it's a washed out, clean orange blossom (not soapy, but cool and watery) and orange blossom is usually rather strong on me. I can also smell the woodiness of the fig and a very creamy, lotion-y smell, which might be the milk part. After a half hour, those notes have faded and it turns to a light ambergris that smells of cold, salty water, powder, and a little white muskiness. Only lasted about 2 1/2 hours total and had a clean-skin-fresh-from-a-shower feel to me.
bheansidhe Report post Posted April 11 (edited) Call this Elizabeth Arden Red. It smells like my childhood memories of my mom coming home from the department store smelling like a mélange of faded perfume samples and high-end makeup, so it's sweetly nostalgic and again dead-faithful to the lipstick accord. Beyond that, I don't get any of the individual listed notes clearly enough to pick them out of a lineup - which is fine. Jarek Report post Posted April 26 This is a pretty light scent on me as well. The fig milk and watery floral are pale and delicate. Ambergris and white leather are present but not super forward. There is a hint of clove that I experience more as a warmth in my nose than much scent of clove, but it's there. Clove bud? I've found conflicting info on whether gum arabic or madder root have scents themselves, but if not those notes could be more conceptual. This certainly manages to smell a bit like a really old fashioned lipstick or cosmetic, and it's reddish in tone, or so I think. There's almost a waxy component to it, but it's soft and malleable wax. I like this one quite a bit more than when I first tried it, but I'm still not sure I want a bottle. I do have time to decide though! It's very pleasant and though it starts out light it stays a fair while.
