OxfordComma Report post Posted January 26 Between the name and the notes list there was absolutely no way for me to resist this one. Wet it's foresty and chestnut forward for me, with maybe a bit of bourbon cream. Dry, the creamy-nutty aspect and the dry woody licorice pop to the forefront. There's something weird in the mix that I think is the sage doing a thing, an odd herbal-airy counterpoint. Mandarin is MIA on skin but I get it in the throw. This is a weird ass scent, but not unpleasant. It doesn't seem particularly strong on me when I'm looking for it, but occasionally a waft of a citrusy, licoricey, nutty mystery mash up makes itself known. Like walking past a local market in winter, getting random whiffs of assorted holiday treats.
roseus Report post Posted March 7 I get a beautiful pine needle punctuated chestnut-y bourbon cream in the imp. However the sage and licorice combine in an unfortunate way on my skin, very sharp and medicinal, and they takeover.
doomsday_disco Report post Posted 19 hours ago I apparently neglected to review this when it was available, so I tested it again last night to finally write a review for this. This starts off with a blast of the pine with a bit of roasted chestnut behind it, but then, the licorice root barrels in like the Kool-Aid Man and becomes the dominant note for a while, backed by the mandarin and evergreens. When it finally disappears, the bourbon cream becomes the dominant note, infused with the mandarin and a touch of the evergreens. The sage wasn't super noticeable to me, but maybe that's because I was too focused on the licorice root, which was indeed very medicinal and unpleasant. I bet I could have appreciate this if it had been licorice-free. If you're not a fan of licorice root, you probably aren't going to like this one.
