    Jacob's Ladder

(2008 version) I got all excited about this because some of the notes are right up my alley, but as soon as I put it on something just smells wrong to me. My nose wrinkles and just... no. I wish I could put my finger on what in this blend has such an effect on me, but my nose just says no.

    Blood Lotus

When I first applied it all I got was a fruity medicinal smell. After drying it just turns cloyingly sweet on me. Must go wash off immediately.

    Bilquis

Wet: It's an apple party! Dry: The apple has disappeared almost completely. Instead it's just a sweetness so subtle that I can't really pick out any specific notes. Just a GOOD smell. Has a good throw though. I'll have to try it again or in a scent locket to get another impression.

    Pumpkin I (2007)

So far, I'm loving all the pumpkin patches that I sniff and this is no exception. When wet I get a creamy pumpkin smell that is honestly calming and delicious-smelling (not for consumption, not for consumption) As it dries the pear and grapes definitely move up to blend perfectly with the pumpkin. A keeper for sure.

    October

I don't know how they do it, but this smells like Autumn in a Bottle (or imp) to me. Wet: Autumn is my favorite time of year. If I close my eyes and sniff I can almost feel the crispness of the night air while hearing the whisper of footsteps moving through dry leaves. Dry: Dang. Just turns into a kind of musky cologne/perfume smell.

    Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (2006)

I'm not a giant patchouli fan so I was a little worried when I put this on and was immediately hit y a wall of patchouliness. Happily, as it dries the patchouli backs down a bit and the other notes come out to play. I can smell some sweetness and fruit. Then... The patchouli is back, but softer. I kind of like it, but as I'm trying to cull the imp herd I'm not sure I like it enough to keep it.

    Banded Sea Snake (2006)

This one's a puzzler for me. I'll sniff it and not like it. I'll sniff it again a moment later and Mmm. I think I like it. It seems to be fading fast on me though. It's only been a short while and it's riding so close to the skin that I almost have to touch my nose to it to smell anything, and what I do smell continues to puzzle me. Hmmm.....

    Banshee

Banshee smelled fantastic when it was wet- like lemony hard candy. Unfortunately as time is going on it's started to turn sour and rather gross. Very sad.

    Thalassa, the Galapagos Mermaid

I am having a bad run with the CDs all of a sudden. I normally don't have issues with aquatics, but for some reason this immediately turns into a strong men's cologne. It's a nice men's cologne, but not for me.

    Midnight on the Midway (2006)

Dagnabbit! Dear Midnight on the Midway - It was going so well! You were all sweet and lovely, but then as soon as you dried you turned into soap. I wanted to love you - I DID, but I'm afraid you're just going to have to leave. *sniffle*

    Coral Snake (2006)

Smells absolutely delicious in the imp. Unfortunately upon dry down it kind of turns into a muted spicy apple scent that reminds me of the candles you see in drug stores.

    Szepasszony

When I was a young girl my aunt and uncle would take me to the gun range. My uncle would shoot and my aunt would slather me in insect repellent and I'd play in the creek. This reminds me exactly of that. Flowing water, muddy shores. green growing things and a dash of bug spray. Evokes a lot of memories, but I don't think it's for me.

    Nyx

Right out of the imp all I was really getting was a resin-like smell, but as soon as I put it on all of a sudden "HELLO FLORAL". I can't even smell anything beyond the flowers. It's a little too strong for me as florals tend to give me headaches, but if you're into florals you might want to give this a sniff.

    Utrennyaya

I normally don't have any issues with minty oils, but for some reason this changes from light and airy mint into.... toothpaste or mint-flavored dental floss? Off to the swaps for a better home.

    Wulric, the Wolfman (2006)

I wanted to love this so much. It smelled divine in the imp and when I first put it on. As it dried though it began to fade away very quickly and just left a vague cologne-ish scent.

    Virgo 2007

In the imp: Sweetness Wet: A very earthy and green smell. Reminds me of a long walk through a quiet forest. Dry: Still a very green smell, but something smoother and softer coming through. I'll agree with the people above who mentioned aquatics. Overall: It's a lovely scent, but I don't really think it's me.

    Vampire Tears

This smells all sunny and bright in the imp. Couldn't wait to try it. When wet I could smell the grapefruit and perhaps some citrus peeking through. Sadly upon drydown it turns to lemon pledge. Still a nice smell, but not one I'd like to wear.

    Masquerade

I was a little scared to try this after sniffing the imp, but I try to give every oil a chance. Dang. This just turns to straight patchouli on me, which is sad because I prefer patchouli to be one of the more subtle notes and not so much in the forefront. Off to sales/swaps.

    Silk Road

I really, REALLY love this, but sadly when I put it on it seems to almost disappear immediately. If my nose is more than 1/2 inch away from my arm I can't smell anything. Pity, because when I do stick my nose on my arm it smells absolutely wonderful.

    Umbra

Sadly all I get is cedar, cedar and more cedar.

    Ophelia

Roses, roses, roses. I couldn't put my finger on what exactly I was getting from this until I saw a few posts up. Rosewater. I am not getting anything other than rosewater. Very strong rosewater. Kind of pretty, but not for me. Actually, I may have to wash it off as I think it's giving me a headache.

    Blood Lotus

Wet: Cherry-flavored medicine. Specifically Sucrets I think they're called. Almost too sickeningly sweet. I hope it mellows out. Dry: Cherry is fading a bit along with the sweetness. Spices are sneaking in a bit. Overall: The drydown is okay, but not for me.

    Lyonesse

My first, and so far true, bpal love. I don't get a floral scent from this at all, which is good. I get a warm golden vanilla with some mysterious notes coming through (I wish I was better at picking them out and identifying them). It doesn't change much on drydown. Definitely a golden scent. I couldn't stop smelling my wrists and my brain would go MMMMMmmmm every time a wisp would waft up to my nose.

    Mata Hari

Smelled lovely in the imp. Unfortunately when I put it on it immediately made me sneeze and I didn't really care for the smell. I didn't get any coffee, vanilla or jasmine. Just a very strong floral mess that my nose hates. It does seem to be very long lasting though. Two vigorous soapy scrubs later and it's still lingering, though much softened. I really wanted to like this too. Oh well.
